Oysters

This place had a really cute vibe. I stopped by on vacation and we tried the oysters which were a nice size and really good. We also tried the shrimp and grits and the goat cheese ravioli special which was a hit. The goat cheese added just the right about of flavor.

Blown away by Stir. Atmosphere, food, service, they nailed it. Our waiter was kind and helpful, helped us pick out the most popular things on the menu. We ended up getting oysters, a garden chicken, and a chicken picotta as well as the crème brûlée all of it was drool-worthy. The atmosphere was cool, very industrial modern with unfinished accents. They had all kinds of seats like high tops, regular tables, booths, bar seats. We didn't have to wait more than 20 minutes for our table so not bad at all. Make sure you pay for your parking !!

Jessica our server is very accommodating and attentive. we are a big group and got our order in place. they also have a breakfast bar like salads, chicken salad and muffins that u can get snack on while waiting for your entree. surprisingly on a sunday morning it wasnt too busy. only downside was their coffee machine wasnt working at the time. over all it was a great enjoyable brunch!

(with a wink) Upon recommendation from a lovely bartender at the Moxy, we wandered over to Stir--and immediately walked into a whole vibe. Industrial, buzzy, packed... the kind of place where you plan for "one drink" and suddenly you're making new friends at the bar. Speaking of--sat down next to total strangers from PA and Knoxville, TN. My new friend? An oyster enthusiast on a mission. She needed a partner in crime... and I happily rose to the occasion. Raw oysters, Rockefeller--so many oysters (heavy on the James River). Now, the Rockefeller oysters came topped with big shaved Parmesan that hadn't quite melted... which felt a little rogue, but hey--could've been how they were ordered. Oyster diplomacy prevailed. I ordered the seafood salad--loaded with lobster and shrimp. Fresh, citrusy, light, and absolutely fantastic. One of those dishes you keep going back to even when you're "full." We also tried the much-talked-about goat cheese ravioli. And... here's where things got a little dicey. The edges were undercooked. Sent it back. Round two... same situation. Filling? Delicious. Execution? Not quite there. To their credit, they took it off the bill without hesitation. Service-wise--bartenders were hustling hard, but clearly stretched thin for the crowd. Management might want to hop behind the bar and order a drink themselves... they'd feel it real quick. All in all: great energy, fun crowd, solid seafood, and a bar experience that makes the night. Just maybe skip the ravioli... unless you're into a little suspense with your pasta. Would absolutely go back--for the oysters, the vibe, and the chance to meet my next random oyster-sharing friend.

Shrimp and grits

We went for brunch. It was great. Everyone loved it. The mimosas and Bloody Marys were only $5. They had a bar of a few salads and few light deserts that were included with every entree. We had the shrimp and grits which were top notch. Also one of the omelets and the all American breakfast. Our server was super-friendly and very attentive. They had a nice small jazz band that was very nice. Would love to go for dinner sometime.

Came in really late for us - 10pm after an exhausting day. Just wanted a bite and a nice glass of wine. Fortunately they are open late. Parking is a PIA, but beyond that it was great. The space is amazing in the old train terminal. They have an extensive menu with lots of choices for everyone. The wine list was a bit of a challenge as they were out of our first choice and they didn't have a sommelier on the floor. We had three different appetizers , finished our wine and headed out at closing. Would definitely return!

Great experience at Stir, I had the Dover Sole and my husband had the Shrimp Scampi. Both were excellent. Fir drinks, my husband had the old fashioned and I had a blackberry bramble. While we are not regular drinkers, the drinks were way too strong for our taste. We ended the evening with the chocolate cake which was also excellent. We will be back! Its hard to find a resturant that delivers on flavor, quality, and service but STIR does!

Steak Frites

My husband and I were looking for a somewhat unique, well-appointed place to celebrate our first anniversary and STIR did not disappoint! The service was fantastic, Shelby was attentive, prompt, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The ambience was perfect for what we were wanting. Not too quiet but also not too loud. A good balance of low lighting without struggling to see the menu or each other. Being set in the train station, the architecture was beautiful and added flavor to our celebration. I ordered the Strawberry Moon Sangria. Certainly not a strong drink, but very tasty. Sweeter and less of a punch than a typical sangria. We also shared a Chef's board. The pepper jelly had great flavor, not too sweet. The board was well-appointed with a decent variety of charcuterie. For dinner, I had the Steak Frites. The steak's seasoning was well balanced, not too salty. It was tender and thick, with obvious quality of cut. The steak fries (as labeled in the menu) weren't what I would consider typical of either steak fries or frites, but they were good and freshly cut, albeit a little brown and soft for my taste. The house made steak sauce base was very good. A great blend of spice, savory, and sweet with hints of sriracha. My husband enjoyed his mahi bowl. The mahi was fried and crisp with a heat from the pineapple sauce that was a slow burn, building as he enjoyed his meal. A great night! Will make another stop here next time we are in town.

Seared Scallops @tiffhuangry

YESSIR TO STIR | espresso martinis & sliders? Yessir! The Tillamook Sliders + Crab Bisque + Seared Scallops were the perfect way to girl dinner, before girl dinner was even a thing. Top it off with a frothy espresso martini and call it the perfect night out. I wasn't a HUGE fan of the seared scallops being on top of a bed of roasted vegetables, they seemed a bit basic. But the scallops were still cooked perfectly. Service was a little slow while we were seated on the nearly empty patio. We had little to no service, like we were an afterthought. Even so, we ordered, ate quickly and were back at our hotel within an hour and a half. Overall, I will definitely be back next time I'm in town - STIR is the perfect spot for a quick bite and drinks!

Had a chance to visit STIR with a group from work this past week and was nicely surprised! We had 14 in the group and our service was very good. Everything from drinks to apps to entrees came out very timely. Great location with nice patio area. I had the seared sesame tuna it was very fresh and cooked perfectly! I tried the cold seafood salad that someone else ordered super refreshing very flavorful. Will be on the list for my next visit.

Mocktail Martini

Our first dinner on our trip this summer and it was a disappointment. The service was really great but not the food unfortunately. Nice decor and lots of seating options, indoor and outdoor as well as around the bar. They also have a selection of mocktails which I tried the mocktail martini, and it was delicious. For appetizer we split a wedge salad, which had good flavors. However the main entree which the waitress told us was a popular dish did not do well. The halibut was completely dry and way overcooked and the farro needed to be cooked more too hard. The waitress could tell we were not happy and she did give us 25% off, which was a nice gesture.

Had a very nice meal at STIR. The food was tasty and the portions were generous. We especially enjoyed the chicken bites. The deviled eggs were solid. The Mahi bites were outstanding. The rice that came with the meal was not as flavorful as I would have liked. However the fish bites more than made up for the rice. The filet mignon was extremely tender and flavorful. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. We were seated in corner booth that was intimate and well lit. Stylish interior decor. We will visit again next week visit Chattanooga.

We had drinks at the bar on a lively Friday night. It was busy and bustling, lovely with the windows open.

Great food. Great drinks. Great service. Chattanooga ambience. If I worked in the city, it's a place I would go regularly to meet friends.

I highly recommend the "Bartender's Choice" cocktail option--the staff is incredibly skilled, and the drinks they crafted were awesome. However, management needs to fix their highly deceptive checkout flow. The bar chooses not to bake Tennessee's mandatory 15% Liquor-by-the-Drink tax into their menu prices. When the bartender flips the POS tablet to pay, the system completely hides the itemized receipt. It jumps straight to a final total that includes a combined 24.25% in state and liquor taxes. To make matters worse, the screen presents ridiculous suggested tip options of 20%, 30%, and 40%--which are calculated on top of that heavily taxed final total rather than the subtotal. If you just tap a prompt, you end up aggressively tipping on hidden taxes. Come for the excellent cocktails and great bartenders, but ignore the suggested buttons and manually calculate your tip based on the actual menu price of your drinks.
