Great food and great service. We had the goat cheese dip appetizer and three entrees. Goat cheese was served with a corn relish over the top that was sweet and savory all at once. Very tasty. I had the pecan Salmon. It was well cooked with a nice sauce. It came with grilled onion chunks and diced green onions on the fish. My sister ordered the Red Fish special. It was topped with fresh pickled cucumbers and a light sauce. My mother had the skirt steak sandwich. A generous portion of steak in house made flat bread. I went here twice and likely won't be back. First visit just had burrata. It was great! Hard to mess up cheese. Second visit I had a chicken sandwich off of the brunch menu. 2/5 stars. The bread was fabulous. It was a thigh so that was very disappointing to me as I was expecting a breast. The flavor was good but I hate the texture of thighs and there are those gross bits in it. The potatoes it came with were under spiced and burnt. 1/5 stars. Basically didn't eat my meal at all. My husband got a breakfast burrito and thought it was okay. He ate it but said it was mostly filler and not a lot of chicken. Definitely a bummer of a meal. Shame because the place is cute. read more

Second time I have been here and both were an experience good enough to come back. Service was a bit slower this time, but I think they might have been a bit short staffed. Server was friendly and did a great job. Beer is average to slightly above ... for craft beer, that is. I would aim for the cask ales over the others, as they are better. Mediterranean Mule was on point. Nice ginger flavor. Had the corn chowder both times. Excellent the first, even better this time. Biscuits and gravy were good, but maybe going really outside the box with ground brats would work better with the biscuits, as the Italian sausage flavor clashed slightly with the biscuits. Still very good. The French toast was A1. Soft interior, nice crust on the outside. Great sauce with fresh fruit. We loved this place so much. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday, and the porch was packed and had a fun 3-piece folk band performing, which was fun! We opted to sit inside since we were worried about the heat with our young daughter. The service was so friendly and helpful, and we got a selection of small plates that we loved. The snap peas, brussels sprouts, sausage with rice and beans, and salmon skewers were all really good. Everything here is wood-fired, so the veggies were particularly excellent. I travel quite a bit so like trying new places (and new beers). Walked in and seated quickly, handed a small menu (less than what is on web site) and decided to forgo my usual IPA (theirs would not fit my taste profile) to get a Scotch Export. Served room temp (which is good for darker beers to highlight all the flavors) but the beer had a weird cinnamon taste. Second beer was the dry stout which was a better pour but for a "Guinness-like" had almost no coffee flavor and was sour. If that's the "dry", it maybe went too far for my palate. Got the lemon chicken which was mostly greens. The sauce wasn't bad but maybe a bit broken. The chicken was okay. The greens were frankly the best part. Traveling through Chattanooga, we stumbled upon Hello Monty, and we had lovely time. This small gem is nice, but not fussy. The menu was refreshingly original, the vibe was chill, the service was very good, and the drinks were tasty. I stopped by on Friday around 1 PM and the place was very quiet, with only about 4 other tables full. We sat outside on a nice patio. We got the ESB and Porter (both $6) and Salmon Skewers ($13). Service was friendly but a tad slow. The beers and food were both solid. My husband and I came to Hello Monty a few months ago when we were in town for a few days. We actually came twice during that trip. We enjoyed it so much that we recently took a day trip with some family who wanted to check it out! We had the opportunity to try Sunday brunch, which was a treat. Of course, we had to order crispy Brussels sprouts for the table. I had the brunch salmon, husband and sister had the sweet tea brined chicken sandwich and shared some of the huge biscuit, and my brother had the brunch burrito. The waitress was non-existent throughout the evening and we had to flag down other workers for silverware, drinks and our orders. The food arrived cold and not prepared well...but looked really good. Props for presentation. Delivered by someone other than our waitress, it took 20 minutes before we could let her know about the subpar quality. The charcoal grilled ribeye ($41) came out pre-cut (never seen that before) and way overdone. Still cold. We had to leave the leftovers (grrrrrr!!!!) because no one could find a bag. My wife and I dined here on a weekend evening and had a reservation. It was 1/2 full when we arrived and around same when we'd exited around 8:00 or 8:30. Staff and service were great. Ambiance was solid. Some families with young kids around but noise wasn't an issue. We'd already been snacking as we went around town so we were really just focused on quality over quantity in terms of the food we'd ordered. We shared some crispy Brussels Sprouts and the pork chop entree. Both were great, and quantity was certainly not an issue with the sprouts. I want to start by saying that I have been going back-and-forth on this review for a while. At first glance, Hello Monty was everything my wife and I was looking for. I wanted to try something new that had everything we wanted in a restaurant and we came across this little gem just blocks away from where we were staying for the night. we enjoy craft beer, check. The service was fast and spot on, check. And as we did not sit inside, the evening was nice and the outdoor seating was comfortable, check. So right from the beginning everything was hitting the mark. When you're comfortable, the beer tastes good and the service is fast, It's hard not to enjoy where you're at. We ordered a few appetizers, the brussels sprouts, which are arguably some of the best I've ever had in Chattanooga, with the exception of one other place, and the shrimp skewers which in my opinion are extremely overpriced and is the only reason that I was debating on giving this review four stars instead of five. I believe that four pieces of shrimp on a skewer do not warrant $12. They certainly did not taste $12 worth. However, the Caesar salad, the salmon, the half chicken and the incredible beer made up for the one appetizer that I thought was slightly overpriced. I will also say that the waiter did try to warn me on the portion size of the shrimp skewers. Long story short, we will be going back drinking more beer eating more food and enjoying the atmosphere of Hello Monty. read more

The meal was OK. Nothing spectacular and the food was kind of bland. I had the prime rib sandwich which had way too much bread compared to the meat. And even though it had peppers and some type of cheese sauce on it, it just didn't have that much flavor. I will start by saying that the food was excellent. We tried the ribeye and pasta. Both were very fresh and made perfectly. I only listed 4 stars instead of 5 due to a couple of things: they don't have fountain drinks, only cans, so no refills on soda & the steak and other menu items do not come with a side. You can expect to order sides separately or not have them in a more upscale place, but this is a casual spot so something with a $40 steak would have been good. Ate at 4:30pm on a Wednesday. Made reservations but not needed for that time. We got seated right away, put in an order for the crispy Brussels and was served within 5 min! We'd give the Brussels a 5!! Our server Kat was awesome and helpful. Sat us at a booth so we could watch the cooks prepare the food and it was interesting! Ordered: the Caesar salad with yummy house dressing! Broccoli-can't wait to get that again, it was so flavorful!! Mashed/loaded potatoes so creamy and loaded! Crispy fries-very crispy and had a spicy mayo, would be great with the burger which we will try next time. We split the salmon which had such a wonderful sauce/flavor. Paired with blanched cabbage-you'd have to like cabbage to appreciate this pairing (we do). Everything was prepared so well in their ovens from Germany and seasoned perfectly. We observed the cooks cleaning often. We had fresh brewed coffee and the raspberry jam parfait (it was lite) I would give it a 3 rating. But because it was my husbands bday she didn't charge us for it. It appears that they make some of their own brews there. There's a nice bar area with a tv. Plenty of seating indoors and out. Visited today on my way back to Atlanta. Food was amazing and the ambiance is just right. It was me and my son (7) and he loved it as well. Our server was very friendly and attentive and the food came out quick. We had the salmon skewers as an app which was delicious and I also had the blackened salmon entree. The skin on my salmon was perfectly crisp just how I like it. My son had a fancy grilled cheese and potato wedges which are the best I've ever tasted. I guess I will be the oddball and say I was a little let down. I had high expectations for the restaurant as it's newer to town and I had heard positive things. Everything was cooked seemingly well, presentation was good. The flavors didn't quite hit me as well as I expected based on the plating. The tastes were "off" particularly with the flank steak; I think the capers and herb selection may not have been the best fit for the cut of meat. The potatoes, however, were great. The desert was delicious (apple crumble). The service was good and well paced, we were called "sunshine" every time we were interacted with. The salmon was okay but not "WOW". Overall 3.5 out of 5. We really enjoyed our time here. We came for happy hour just to try it out. The vibe is casual and welcoming. The bartender extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Gave a brief talk about the beers and their history and really seemed to enjoy his job. We tried the happy hour flatbread and my goodness it's delicious. Light and slightly charred accompanied with roasted basil and garlic. I had draft white wine that was smooth and easy to drink. Hubby had a Kolisch beer that he really liked . We will definitely return to try their other items. Menu has plenty to choose from for vegetarians and meat eaters. Restaurant itself is really charming. Lovely atmosphere and a great space.
