While we were driving up to Five Wits, i notice there was a beautiful wing mural on the side of their building out front. We parked and before even going inside we went out front to take some the sun started to set too much. The mirror is done by a professional artist known for her beautiful wing designs. On the patio that we walked past to get to the inside was a live band playing, and there were a ton of cute dogs all over with their owners enjoying the music. It was the cutest sight. Inside there are 2 sections of the brewery, but they had the front closed so we couldn't use the back smaller part. I liked the small part to be honest with you. It wasn't super small, but it was much more quaint looking. Service was super friendly, offering us a samples of anything that we would like to try, but of course, we ultimately got a flight. Luckily for me , they also had the Lions game on so I was able to see the end of the game and our victory. They do have food on their menus, and I can definitely see us returning it to this location when we're in Chattanooga again. read more

Five Wits came highly recommended but I was not a fan. I visited on a Friday at noon. There were a handful of people inside and it became a bit more crowded while I was there. Only the back part of the brewery was open, with an indoor and outdoor area, a couple TVs, and eclectic decor. They were running a promo: $3 for a 10 oz beer or $3 for a 16oz beer if you buy food. We got the Bird Watcher Kellerbier and Sunblaze American IPA -- both were fine. We also got the Mission-style burrito with al pastor ($11), as a Super Burrito ($2 upcharge for sour cream and avocado). This was the worst burrito I've had in a long time. Al pastor should be a balance of sweet and spicy; this was overpoweringly sweet. The side salsas had no heat, either. Mission-style burritos are known for their size, but this was a normal burrito, smaller than I would get at Chipotle. It took about 20 minutes to get the burrito which was too long. read more

But - and what truly made this 5 star for me was Carmela - she was a wonderful server and asked me what kind of beer I like -they had flights and I asked her to "just suggest' based on what I liked. So disappointed with the menu change. It's mostly pizza now. The tacos and brunch are gone. The "animal style" has changed also. Grilled onions aren't grilled and the cheese looks like queso instead of America cheese. Service has never been great here, but we looked past it because the food was solid. One of the beers we tried was flat, so I do recommend trying the beer first, which they were happy to assist. Really good beer. Great service. Great venue. I would definitely come back. I got the Pilsner/ brewing software and can't remember the last time I drank a beer so fast to get a second one. We stopped in for lunch today and it was a wonderful experience. Our server was amazing(sorry-didn't get his name) It was Happy Hour and we got $3 beers. They were tasty! I had Turkey Caesar salad-they smoke their own turkey! It's a large salad and delicious. Hubs had smash burger and said it was fantastic. We asked for a sticker and they gave us 2 and 2 koozies-FREE! Wow!! What a great find for us!!! And maybe you too We shared a fantastic hot Italian sandwich and it was delicious. The bread was perfect, toasted just right and nice and soft. The deli meat was flavorful and tender. We had a side of their shoestring fries and loved them. Nice and hot with just enough salt. We sampled two of their brews and thought they both were great! The service was excellent and very attentive. We learned the history and more from a conversation with a very nice employee, very nice talking with him. Great experience, we will definitely be back. It is not a typical brewery, the food was amazing and the service superb, they even recommended another brewery nearby to visit. If you like Belgian Triple's this is one of the few places that has one on tap, very good! We split a cheesesteak and Parmesan fries, both were top notch. You can find Five Wits Brewing Company at 1501 Long St, Chattanooga, TN 37408. This is in a fairly large shared space facility with some build-out going on behind the taproom (may not be related but you'll see it when you head towards the shared bathrooms). Parking is in back and there appears to be plenty - not sure what it will be like once the building is fully utilized. This is one beautiful brewery with lots of attention to detail - it's a huge space with plenty of seating (when you walk around to the bathroom you can view the taphouse - there are additional bars presumably for overflow but they may have been for other businesses - difficult to tell as they weren't open during my visit). I sat at the bar for a quick lunch and flight. I think the beers in general are good and competently made but probably more in tune with locals - most were light bodied and more on the subtle side so less punchy than what I've been having from Atlanta. The taproom server was quite chatty until I ordered then it became difficult to get someone over to my end of the bar (the taproom was sparsely attended, probably due to the time - it was late afternoon). Because of that I stopped at one flight when I probably would have gotten a second. For lunch I had the Philly Steak Sandwich with a side of slaw. The sandwich was well made but really the slaw portion (as an only side) was undersized. I would have ordered more food but as mentioned by the time someone came around to check on me I had finished and decided to close out and get back on the road. For beer I had the following: * Wandering Star Schwarzbier 3.5/5 - Fairly dry dark lager, notes of coffee, almost stout-like in a thinner body, very little sweet malt, a touch too cooked for me. Finishes dry * Peach-Apricot Kolsch 3.6/5 - Not sure about this, there's an off-flavor to the stone fruit used on the initial hit, smooths as you drink it but kept coming back as burps. * Frieda Kettle Sour 4/5 - Tart Berliner style sour with good mouthfeel and dry sweet finish with pineapple and strawberry notes. * Montgomery Street Kolsch 4/5 - Competently made easy drinking kolsch with light body and fruity citrus notes. Crushable. As already mentioned, the experience overall was good but not perfect - I'm not sure if I'll come back - maybe, if you niece and nephew wanted to try it (they live locally) but I think I'll stick with other locations in the future where the portions are larger, the beer is better and the service more attentive. read more

A bit out from downtown proper but this place is certainly worth a try. First they have lunch size beers. Who knew this was a thing. We had two of their holiday selections and they were both delicious. For lunch we had Philly cheesesteak. They were cooked perfectly. The real star of the show is the Parmesan cheese fries. Skinny fries cooked to perfection and covered with cheese and garlic. They are almost worth a trip to Chattanooga by themselves. The wait staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. This microbrewery is operated by one of the local restaurant groups based here in the Chattanooga market. It's a limited menu, but the quality of their offerings are outstanding, not your typical, ordinary, stale bar food. While it is regrettable the group was forced by the pandemic to move on from their original concept, what remains, absolutely works. It even includes live entertainment a couple times a week, plus a variety of other events on a periodic basis. First and foremost though, it's a microbrewery and it shines in that role. Their master brewers are constantly experimenting, and while it may not always work, it is creative, fun and worth the try, amongst my personal favorites was a rye IPA they released a few months back and today, it was a collaborative effort created in conjunction with Peace Brewing in Chicago. One of my great joys though is the knowledgable staff, people with whom you can discuss product. If you are into microbreweries, this is absolutely a stop you should make. read more

My husband and I decided to try it out on a Saturday afternoon! We sat at the bar and our server was wonderful. She was so personable and upbeat about the different beers on tap. My husband got Land of the Lost and I got the Painkiller sour. Both beers were delicious. They gave us 3 different menus. We could order breakfast from Eggman, tacos, or off their menu. There was so much variety to please anyone in your group! For lunch we ordered the Philly cheesesteak and the turkey avocado on bagel. We enjoyed our lunch a lot. Traveling north to IN from FL this was our stop for pre-dinner (beer) that became our dinner instead of a steak. The Signal Lost IPA was phenomenal for an appetizer. Me and my wife tried this spot recently: the drinks were super watered down. If you get anything grab a beer (they obviously can't lie about that) we tried their margarita, jack and coke and dark and stormy on top of ordering a few IPAs and walked out super normal. If your in town visiting i recommend grabbing whiskey from Chattanooga whiskey and boathouse rotisserie raw bar and grill. This spot is cute but don't waste your cash on these drinks. read more

Food & Drinks were good. The Barrelhouse Ballroom music venue is messed up. I paid $75 to reserve a table on top of the Ticket Prices. Not one of their tables sits level, they all rock back and forth and your drinks spill over the edge of your glass, so you're constantly having to retrieve paper towels to keep your table top dry. People who pay regular admission get to STAND on the Dance Floor in front of the Band. NO ROOM TO DANCE. Nothing but bobble head Zombies just standing on the dance floor. They need to redesign the floor plan and they have plenty of room to do so & they need to replace those cheap ass Hi-Top Tables. My date wanted to leave about 3 songs in. Beer was decent and cold / the staff wasn't very attentive -- food was 2/5 stars. Appetizers were very bad. Cheese curds were undercooked.
