Tailgate in downtown Chattanooga hoed the game with Harry themes! We stopped in during their first-ever Harry Potter-themed event, and they truly brought the magic to life. The atmosphere was fun, creative, and full of great energy. A huge shout-out to Grey, who was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. She walked us through everything from beer to drinks. As someone who grew up on Long Island, NY, and has high standards for pizza, I found the flavor pretty good overall. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. The staff kindly offered Luna a bowl of water, which is always appreciated. We sat outside under a shaded area, which kept us comfortable and out of the sun. Stopped in while visiting the area. We sat outside on the upper deck. It was a beautiful sunny day. The beer selection was large and a good variety of styles. I especially liked the black lager; very well done! We started with the garlic knockers...DELICIOUS! Then we went with the Detroit Style pizza. We got the meat lovers. It was soooo good. We were in town for a concert and looking around for a place to eat and have a beer before it, when we spotted TailGate. We've been to a couple of the Nashville locations, so we had to try this one! My husband got a full pour of beer, while I went with a flight. I get a flight whenever I can. The beers were tasty. For food, we chose the spicy vodka pizza. It was a party in my mouth! What a vibe! Honestly such a great place that I'm so glad I found. The servers are excellent and honestly what a great location downtown. They have a beautiful patio to enjoy the weather or two floors inside for if the weather isn't quite what you're looking for. The pizza is honestly one of the best I've had, and the beer options are constantly changing and absolutely delicious. Love that they're family and dog friendly. My trivia team came here to play trivia for a change of scenery. My teammates had played here once before, but this was my first time. You place your order at the bar, get a number and find a seat, so I placed my order. I asked for unsweetened iced tea with lemon. They had neither the tea, nor the lemon. What bar has no lemon?? I ended up with water and wings. There was no A/C on the second floor so we ended up playing trivia on the second floor patio in 90° heat, which was not pleasant. The patio is not covered and only has a few sunshades over some of the picnic tables. Sitting at a picnic table for 3 hours also wasn't very comfortable. My friends ordered small pizzas and they smelled delicious. My wings were great. Luckily we had access to a soda machine so we could all refill our own waters frequently. While there was staff around, they weren't there frequently enough on a hot day to fill waters. They were there mostly to clear tables and occasionally check in. The highlight of my night was the cannoli. They were the best I've had since I've been in Chattanooga! A couple of additional details about the place...it is not handicap accessible as far as I can see. There are tons of stairs which does not make it disability friendly. They use plastic utensils and Styrofoam to-go boxes. There are unisex bathrooms, which is nice because you don't have to stand in line. I gave it 3 stars because of the A/C issue and inaccessibility. The food is somewhat pricey, too, though good as far as first impressions go. Get the A/C fixed and earn another star. read more

While I was super sad to see the former tenant of this building leave, Tailgate Brewery is living up to the history of good food in a fun venue. Delicious beers, the Double IPA is amazing, my gf recommends the apple pie cider. Both on point. The staff is amazing! Riley was very welcoming right off the rip and gave hints to alternatives to sours. Caitlin was very knowledgeable and so sweet to stop and talk with us for 10 mins about local spots and trails. THEY DO NOT HAVE SALT How does a restaurant not have salt? I went here trying to be quick. It is not quick. It looks like this place has great reviews but my experience was bad food for a high price. I got the chicken nuggets (half buffalo half hot honey). The chicken I was served was barely warm and highly reminiscent of the boneless wings at my colleges on campus "sports bar." My husband complained after eating it of not feeling well and we had to end our night early. The fries were way too high price though they were fine other than they needed salt which this restaurant doesn't have. They must not cook anything and it must just be microwaves in the back. We were greeted immediately when we walked in and were given direction on menus, ordering, etc. The team was super knowledgeable and gave recommendations on both beer and food. Our visit to Tailgate Brewery was so disappointing we left roughly an hour after arriving. We were in on Saturday night hoping to watch the Tennessee game. We walked in and we're immediately met with a line but with no explanation about what the line was for. A friend and I headed further in to see if we could get a table and we were told to find a table and the initial order had to go through the bar but then we would have "full table service". We are not at all sure what "full table service" means because we had no table service at all other than someone dropping off food we'd ordered. To order anything, including a cup for water, you had to get in the line. Once we got to the front of the line, all but one of the appetizers were unavailable and many of the other food items were sold out as well. It was 7:30 pm so too early in the evening to be out of so many items. My husband went to order a pizza and was told it would take at least an hour. For my first drink, I ordered the Harvest Amber. It was a nice medium amber beer but a bit sweet for my taste. It had a maple syrup flavor that I couldn't get past. For my second drink, I wanted my go-to which is a simple vodka soda with two limes. Alas, no luck. They had no limes. I ended up ordering the limoncello spritz. Please save your money. It was ridiculously expensive and the worst limoncello spritz I've ever had. I have to say that I feel for the bartenders here. The bar is tiny, disorganized and, with all the dirty glasses piling up, messy. There did not seem to a good system of who was doing what and it simply appears to have been set up by someone who has never been behind a bar. It would would of they just stuck to beer but by adding liquor, it doesn't work. The place is quite large and there were plenty of places to sit. If you'd rather a place that is quieter, this might work for you. It certainly wasn't the vibe we were looking for. There is a huge outdoor area where we sat. I'd prefer regular tables and chairs instead of picnic tables to be more comfortable but we were able to all sit together. Overall we were very disappointed in our visit and as mentioned, we left a little after an hour of our arrival. The space has so much potential but Chattanooga has many superior places to go right in the same area. read more

First, ambiance - 5 stars! Very cool place. The vibe makes you want to hang out. Second, food - 4 stars. Plenty of easy choices. A few inventive pizza combinations. It measured up pretty well (not the best I've ever had, but I'd eat here again) Beer - 5 stars! Lots of choices. Everything available. Bartender was helpful and nice. Service - 3 stars! The front counter guy was superb. We FINALLY got an attentive server walking around near the end of the visit. The timing in between - a service desert! I saw a few people walk by, but my empty beer glass sitting at the end of the table didn't entice them to inquire if I wanted another beer. I don't need constant check-ins, but I don't want to have to chase people down. Finally went to the bar to get my own beer. Ugh! Overall - I'll round to 4 stars. Try it. Came to Chattanooga for a race and was meeting some friends of the child from college. Needed to be careful with diet before the race so pizza was a safe choice. I'm a pizza snob (New Haven pizza from childhood through high school) so it better be good. This place did not disappoint. They had traditional as well as Detroit style. We tried both styles. Had the veggie Detroit style with their extra seasonings/dressing and the hot honey traditional style. Very pleased with the veggie; the hot honey had the best spice, but a little too sweet for our taste. A great find in a town full of breweries and bars. I chose this place because it sits next door to the Chattanooga Choo Choo complex (total train tourist!!!). But this place was a winner even without the choo choo. Extensive beer selection. My friend did a flight and was excited about 3 of the 4 choices. I focused more of the food end. Great wings and pizza! The building is small with only a few tables. Being in a touristy area you will probably need to pay to park close by (we paid in the lot in the rear). While the Choo Choo seems to have some classier places, this was an absolute winner for us with a casual atmosphere.
