January 2, 2021 On our home bound road trip from Ohio, we stopped a couple of times but came here especially to try the beer. It was a little chilly, but not quite "Ohio" chilly so we sat ourselves outside with a couple of hazy IPA aka Juice Bombs from Sloop Brewery. This brew pub is sandwiched between brick buildings: Stacks, a burger pub, on the right and another commercial building on the left. Across the street is the Police, so be warned, and don't get too funky. We asked if they had food and said no but it was ok to get some take out and eat it at their table or order from Stacks (what we did) and they bring it to your table from next door. Even better. Stacks' mushroom burger and stack cheese burger were very good too. We washed those down with another set of local IPAs called Southeast by Tailgate Brewery in Nashville, TN, also very good. Some of the tables have heating lamps which would have been nice as it got chillier. Not ours. But no sweat. This place does occasionally make their own beer as well but it's primarily a brew pub which sells other beer and canned beer from all over. I'm glad we had a chance to come. Now for the drive home. Thankfully we are less than 2 hours away. Atlanta here we come! read more

My husband and I love it here! Small taproom but they have a ton of options. I prefer a sour while he likes different ipas and such. Free popcorn is always a win for me. Nice and quiet local spot. On Yelp and in the maps it said this place was a brewery. However, did not find this to be a true brewery with their own beers. Instead it had many delicious beers from some of the best local ga breweries and good out of state ones. They also had wind and other drinks for sale. I tried my usual ipa. I think it was from New York. I liked it, a bit citrusy. Another good thing about the brewery is there is a burger place right next door that will deliver to the brewery. The burger was pretty dang good! Although it is right across the street from a police station, so be responsible out there. read more

Pretty chill. I liked it and the variety of beverages offered. I got the pink guava sour. It was yummy, but I'm spoiled by a local place with lots of delicious sours, so it's hard to beat. The parking is up and down the street and there's a lot within walking distance. I don't live in Cleveland, but this seems to be the go-to bar in town. There was a good amount of people when we first got there, and it was a nice atmosphere. They also have trivia -- but we missed that part of the evening. They had a cute outdoor seating area and plenty of tables inside. We sat next to a Galactica arcade game which was fun! If you're looking for a solid craft beer, this is the place for you. read more

This base is pretty neat spot, we stopped here after visiting some friends in Cleveland TN and just came for a quick drink before grabbing our meal and there set up is one side variety of beers and the other variety of wines. I know is the lager I had was peanut butter and raspberry which was weird and good lol real nice vibe, I can see this being a good place to get a drink and hang outside with friends. The inside decor is full of information and the outside decor is pretty creative recycling old barrels and using them as tables and also old car. They give you some popcorn with your drink to snack on and also you can try some of the beer before buying it which makes it easy when choosing some weird flavors. All and all I think it's a great place to hang out. FYI just know they do allow smoking outside. read more

So several friends and I ended up in Cleveland, TN recently for the "baCON" festival (which ended up being a huge bust) but since we'd all spend 2-5 hours on the road and met in the middle to hang out we all decided to explore this town we'd never been in and luckily found a lot of good food and drink perhaps topped by Mash & Hops. As far as breweries goes this is a small joint but there's lots of great outdoor seating which is shared space with another great establishment next door (The Press). Mash & Hops had a wide selection of beers on tap and between the 6 of us we managed to try a good variety of them--every one of them were great. I'm not sure which/any are brewed in-house but I tried an excellent IPA (Fire Emoji?), a solid wheat ale, and a truly delicious porter that tasted like chocolate, coffee and fruit. Plus they have a great selection of craft beers to go so I was able to get a jump-start on stocking my garage beer fridge for summer. Bonus: we loved the life-sized jenga. read more

I'm not from Cleveland, but I'm told that a place like Mash & Hops is highly unusual in the area - that some local evangelicals & teetotalers aren't pleased about having a new beer-centric joint in town. As an out-of-towner, though, I found this place to be perfectly charming, the sort you find in quirky small towns or booming big cities. Mash & Hops sells, duh, beer. You can buy a 32oz or 64oz growler & continue to bring it back to M&H to be refilled with whichever on-tap beer you please. While they don't (yet) serve pints due to local ordinances, the owners told us they're working on that & hope to be able to soon/eventually. For now, you can sample up to four of their on-tap beers; they swap them out each month. Beers range from stuff you've heard of, like Guinness & Abita, to craft beers you're probably less familiar with - including some brewed right in Tennessee, like Yazoo. Don't see anything you like on tap, or just want more to choose from? M&H also has a large selection of bottled beers in four-packs & six-packs. The place has an open, fun, welcoming vibe, & the owners are incredibly friendly. They love to talk about beer, & it's clear that they're very knowledgeable about it. During a walk, decided to check it out. Even though they weren't quite open they welcomed us in. Guy behind the counter offered me a couple of samples . I said I would be back and did so on my birthday a few days later for a delicious lunch and a pint. Also, stopped in and filled a couple of growlers. Expected a "brewery" to actually brew their own stuff. This is more of a brew pub that serves other breweries. collections. Expect big name brands and a few smaller non-local brews on tap. Had a brown ale from Countryboy out of Kentucky. Was a delightful beer full of flavor. Server knew his stuff, but did not go out of his way to make conversation. Situated next to The Stack restaurant. Food looked and smelled fantastic. Don't know if I'd stop in here again if in the area. read more

Couldn't pass up writing a review about this place. Truely nothing else like it in Cleveland, and a great little space. The owner Rob, a beer lover like me, keeps about 13 rotating taps that change any time a keg kicks. Truly something for everyone -- an interesting little tidbit is that they were mainly a growler place but have a special permit that allows 8 oz pours -- no pints! Very memorable for a beer lover! Rob also has 6 packs and mix and match singles for sale -- saw all kinds of neat singles, surprised to see Del's by Naragansette in the single section. Over all my favorite for the day was the Down South Southern Pale Ale from Ole Shed. No food - just pretzels and thing to snack on - but I believe you can bring in your own. 1 TV if you're needing to see the game of the moment and a nice mixture of Dave Matthews, Counting Crows-ish, selections playing. Board and card games and a foozeball table for your entertainment are also available. I will no doubt visit this place anytime I'm in the Cleveland TN/Greater Chattanooga area! read more

Just because it says coffee milk stout doesn't mean it's good for breakfast. Well, it is good for breakfast if you're planning on skipping work that day...
