Located in the heart of historic Dayton downtown Monkey Town is an awesome place to grab some food and hang out. They have a pretty good menu with lots of options for everyone and also tons of really good sounding beers on tap. We came here after flying into Chattanooga from Las Vegas and making the drive out to Dayton. Not really knowing the area we turned to Yelp reviews for suggestions the one that came up first with some really good reviews was Monkey Town. We were definitely steered in the right direction. It's a wide open space with kinda an industrial feel. We were told to grab a seat anywhere and promptly got our drink order taken. I got the beer cheese burger with onion rings and my husband got the Elvis burger with fries. The food came out fast and looked really good. The burgers were big, double patties, mine being smothered in the beer cheese sauce and his with bbq and onion rings. The burgers were both good and definitely filling. The onions rings were hot and crisp and the fries were sidewinder style which were unexpected but good. Since we had been traveling since around 4am our time with not much food we didn't try the beers this time but they sounded awesome. There were some that were super tempting. Definitely will try them next time. It's a great place to meet people have food and drinks and just hang out. Next time we are in the area I want to try some more things. read more

The place is not well kept, the paper special menus looked like someone ate off of them and the clipboards are gross, the tables are wobbly and sticky. Just found this great place today! It was GREAT! 19 of the 21 brews are their very own. I have the "Flip flop" it was sooo tasty ( gluten free too). HH (hungry hubby) enjoyed his Rye Lager. The food was terrific as well. We started with the fried pickle spears that were hot and crunchy! I had the Club Sandwich on the marble rye (toasted) it also came with onion rings which were so crunchy. The picture you will see the large sandwich. The ham, turkey & yummy bacon were a perfect match with the tomatoes lettuce, and mayo. HH REALLY enjoyed his Fish & Chips (homemade potato chips.) Fresh food, smiling face and cold beer... what more do I have to say ? We stopped in while out riding on a Saturday to eat but most importantly cool off from the rising heat.... We found our way to the bar since there wasn't many patrons sitting there and let's face it some of the best service comes from a bartender. The young lady was awesome and so was the beer selection. If I wasn't operating a motorcycle I may have indulged myself in trying more. But the local beer they brewed was unique and flavorful. My wife order the croissant chicken salad sandwich and I the club wrap. Much like any new place we try we split our sandwiches so we could experience both the club wrap was superb wouldn't add or subtract anything. The chicken salad was good however a bit dry for my liking. Overall next time we are in Dayton we will stop back by "Monkey Town" and try something else and of coarse a cold local brew. read more

The food was good, the service was good, but they didn't have a great selection of dark beers. I usually go to the MTBC in Loudon, but we wanted to give this one a try. The two are very similar in food selection, although I miss the Cubana sandwich that I usually get in Loudon. The beer selection seemed better in Loudon, but it could be just the time of year and the two may have the same beer selection year round. With the pool room in the adjacent room this has more of the feel of a bar that serves good food. Where as the Loudon MTBC, located in the old train station, has more the feel of a classy sports bar. I like them both, they just each have there own unique feel. Overall, we were pleased with our experience and will come back next time we are in Dayton. read more

When the wrong order is brought to my table, how it's handled afterwards is what determines my overall experience. This was my first time at this restaurant/brewery. Our waitress was asked several questions about the menu and she admitted to being relatively new, so she wasn't familiar with the menu items. My wife initially ordered a chicken croissant. She later saw that catfish was on the menu, and while the waitress was still with us, my wife informed her that she changed her mind and wanted to cancel the chicken croissant and have the catfish plate instead. I ordered a bacon burger with BBQ sauce on the side, plus a side of fries. When the order came, they brought the the previously canceled chicken croissant and the catfish. My burger was no where to be seen. I explained to the waitress that I had ordered a macaroni burger and my wife had ordered house chips instead of fries. The waitress apologized and went back to place the new order. She quickly returned with the house chips for my wife, which I munched on while I waited for my order. When my burger came, it was worth the wait. Though I had asked for BBQ on the side, they put it in the burger, but it was just a small drizzle that it was perfect. At this point, this would have been a 4 star experience, but without me asking, I was offered a small discount as an apology. That pushed it to a 5 star review. WHAT A SURPRISE from this small town North of Chattanooga. Having a population of 7K I was expecting basic small town bar scene here, but walked away blown away! If you happen to be coming through I recommended this place. Now as a brewery you would expect good beer, but I have to say the food and service was what would keep me coming back. Our server was awesome and she knew her stuff when it came to the food and beer. She took good care of us and even went to find out info from on something I had a question about. For the food we had the Jumbo Pretzel. Loved the presentation and it was cooked perfectly! Crisp outside, chewy in. And the Beer Cheese - a must get. I really loved that stuff. While we didn't finish it all, it heated up nicely later for our bedtime snack. We split the Reuben with house house made corned beef. I love a good Reuben and this one did not disappoint. We opted for the house made chips and they were also surprisingly good! Cooked perfectly to be nice a crisp without being burnt. The house salad was a perfect compliment to all the meat and bread and wasn't made of iceberg lettuce, but mixed salad greens that were crisp and fresh! Overall a tasty lunch indeed. There was plenty of room inside as well and a larger outdoor area that is Dog Friendly! Should you feel like a game of pool or darts - well they got you covered there too! So why not 5 starts then? Well here's the thing - it's a brewery, so I expect some really fantastic brew! This is where I was left a bit disappointed. The beer list is one of the longest I've seen for a local small town brewery! Two pages in fact. I opted for a flight and had the Wayward Saison, Really packs a Pancho, Smortle, I choose you, and Evolutionary theory. Only one of these tickled my tastebuds and I'd order again - the E. Theory! But the other three - felt either uninspired and boring or overreaching. I would not get any of them again. Maybe have one or two rotational plays, but grab some heavy hitters and make them the best you can so someone will say - 'OH man - you should try the *** brew at Monkey Town! We just found Monkey Town Brewing last week and have been there twice. Hubbie loved their Elvis burger. My favorite so far is the chicken grape salad on croissant with pecans, cranberries and cucumber. I'm a salad snob, very picky with them. This does not disappoint. Their ribs are amazing. I ate off 2 bones and still had 3/4 left to take home. Great baked potato with plenty of butter and sour cream. Their big pretzel bites with queso is awesome. A meal in itself. The girls are all so sweet and kind. Right there to make sure you're happy. It's fun reading the framed newspaper articles about the history. Clean and a happy place. Lady working the front desk has been gone for ten minutes and has twelve people at the door standing outside with the door open. Flys everywhere. First time we tried this place it was tolerable at best. Today seals the deal. Stay outta the place it's filthy, stinks, and has the worst service in Rhea county. She was like a ghost, took too long to greet us, and then after our food came out she didnt come back to the table until we were almost finished eating. At which time I had to ask for a refill on my tea. That was my only refill. Second of all the food was crap. $14.00 for a crappy pulled pork plate and a salad with hardly any dressing. Again, our server never checked on us until we were almost finished so asking for dressing at that point was futile. We will not be returning and I will be surprised if the place is open next year. The craft beer is excellent here, especially the stouts. The service however is not. Just watched my beer wait for pickup for 5 minutes. They have a full bar which my wife appreciates as she's not a beer drinker. Only average bourbon selection and they could do a lot better and stock a better top shelf. That's why I'm only give them three stars, YES Bourbon Matters!!!! Get the beer cheese on chips or the huge pretzel, you won't be sorry at all. ;) As for the food it's also excellent and I'd recommend the catfish, or any of the tacos they offer both are superb. The sandwiches are good but I'd stay away from the burgers as they use the thin patty's and just stack them, faster to cook but there's no way you get a decent medium burger that way. If your eating in Dayton this place is one of two restaurants we hit almost every week, so I'd encourage you to give it a try. read more

This was our goto place for decent food and a cocktail after bowling in Hixson on Fridays. The cleanliness has deteriorated significantly, we just saw the "host" sweeping up a chip near the host stand, ignoring the absolute mess under the tables around him. A waitress came through 10 minutes later and did actually move a few chairs to partially get at the mess - and there was still a piece of onion left, almost in the middle of the isle. There has always been a bit of a fly problem, but it was worse than I've ever seen it. My "Elvis" burger came out, and the 2 patties (oviously 6 to the pound, like the typical fast food burger) were so thoroughly overcooked I feared breaking a tooth. The 2 onion rings on board the burger almost doubled the thickness, but I removed one, it took out almost all the BBQ sauce. I did request, and received more BBQ sauce when I saw our waiter...for the FINAL time. I ended up having to go out to the game room where it looked like most of the staff was ignoring the dining area. Finally a nice young lady checked me out. For the final time. read more

Came for a late lunch before our flight. In a small town you'd be surprised to find this establishment. It's worth a pop in. I was in a group of 3. My fish and chips was a win. Interesting chips. Part curly fry, part thick potato goodness. Lots of beverage offerings. Fish is fresh, flaky (on a good way) and batter dipped yum. The cole slaw was ok, not a win. Didn't partake in the artisanal brewed beer offerings and what was flowing on tap. If you are a beer drinker you might really enjoy experiencing this place. In fact, it looks to be a popular place for "beer lunching" with groups or work friends. Nice mini gated beer garden outdoor seating. Anyway. Kind of a bar, kind of place with a loyal customer base. But a place you can get a good lunch, too in a small town where it's tough to own a business. What I mean is there is not lot of options for lunch in town beyond national take out turn key kinda places. Again, this is a humble sweet mountain town.
