They have a great selection of craft beers, imports and both red and white wines, including champagne and prosecco for the celebration in your glass. The real draw to this place is the private patio that has the peaceful river running the length of the restaurant. They have some higher end entrees of filets, and also pizza salads, burgers, and wings and even food for the kiddos. If you make it through Cades Cove or finish up a nearby hike or river rafting in Townsend this is a nice relaxing finish to the day. Great space for catching up with friends for patio pints and looks to be pet friendly as well. So bring your dog and your fun out to enjoy the Abbey.

The food was OK, but i expected some English pub type food, but it was just the same type of sandwichs prepared differently. The service was bad. I ordered my food and had pay for it right there just like at a Burger King. They dropped the food on the table and left. Nobody ever checked back to see if it was made correctly or if I needed anything. So many other places with better service and food - definitely a hard pass on a return visit...

Overbooked intentionally on Valentine's Day, cold food, and zero accountability…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was unacceptable--especially for Valentine's Day, when restaurants know people are choosing their establishment for an important night. Our food took an hour and a half to arrive. During that time, our waiter was extremely loud and obnoxious, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere rather than a welcoming one. There was no meaningful communication or apology for the delay. When the food finally arrived, it was cold and completely lacked flavor, which made the long wait even more frustrating. For the prices charged, the quality was nowhere near acceptable. What concerned me most was overhearing staff openly tell another customer that they had intentionally overbooked the night but "didn't know it would be this bad." That statement alone explains the entire experience. This wasn't an accident--it was a conscious decision to prioritize volume over service and quality. Valentine's Day is predictable. Restaurants know it's one of the busiest nights of the year. If you choose to overbook intentionally, you are responsible for maintaining service standards. Tonight, those standards were nowhere to be found. This experience showed a lack of planning, professionalism, and respect for customers' time and money. I hope management takes this seriously and reevaluates how they handle high-volume nights, because this is not something people will forget.

Makes for a lot of great food service for what you can order (that will be similar at the other spots). The staff has always been (10+ visits) nice and responsive to any requests. The drinks are fun but I like to personally stick to some snacking. I have found the buffalo wraps and mini hot dogs to be the ticket. The pinball machines have a lot of variety and art to admire in them. There are also other board and video game options for those that don't like pinball. An authentic British pub that definitely feels like a go-to spot for a lot of the locals. You'll…read moreavoid a lot of the tourist traffic here with its unique vibe, and you'll come away with a memory of "that cute British pub" when it's all over. NOTES: -This place is run on bare bones staff. I'd guess maybe two cooks and the single server. It is not a place to come if you need quick service or quick food. They're very friendly (even if you're not a local!), but definitely come when you have a lot of extra time. -This place is not accessible in the slightest. You'll need to go up two flights of very steep stairs to make it to the front door. The stairs are on the old side, and I was concerned about one breaking. There is no elevator. -The parking lot is relatively small and shared with a nearby Urgent Care. It's gravel and grass, and people mostly made their "own" spot where they wanted. As this made for a haphazard parking lot with small margins for cars, I wouldn't let a newer driver park here. PROS: -Lots of unique British dishes. We've never seen somewhere serving Bubbles and Squeak and lots of other dishes. If you're not familiar with niche British dishes, you'll probably have to pull out your cell phone to figure out what some of this stuff is - and that's really fun. -Food is really good. It tastes like food-your-mom-would-make instead of gourmet takes on these dishes. It has a really authentic, small business vibe to it. -Unique beers on tap too. You aren't going to find Bud Light or Miller Lite on tap here. All of their beers are unique pub fare. They do offer some of the American favorites in a can/bottle, but this is a great excuse to try beers you wouldn't normally have access too. -Despite the older age of the building, the bathrooms are very modern and very clean. Most gas station bathrooms are in worse shape than the ones here. CONS: -It's definitely a small, "small margins" business, and all of the cons that go along with that. Food took awhile, upcharge for using a credit card, non-focal dishes may have been frozen/reheated/canned, and parking was difficult. That all being said, we're looking to come back again, and the atmosphere (and the taste of their unique star dishes) make it one of those places you'll actually talk about when you're done with your trip instead of forgetting that morning you simply went to Denny's to scarf down pancakes.

They can answer all of your questions and can make recommendations so no need to feel overwhelmed. The interior is cozy, rustic and looks like a Scottish pub I got the rich and decadent and enjoyed. One thing that really endeared me to this bar was the live music. I felt like I was living in a bridgerton scene. I didn't try the food, but the menu looks yummy
