Wow! I really wanted to like this place based on the reviews stating how the bartenders are so friendly and accommodating. Sadly, as an individual customer, that was not my experience on a Thursday night. I arrived a little before 7pm and I was warmly greeted by Drew. I told her I was excited to dine here, specifically in the bar, based on reviewers comments. Her friendliness and positive attitude assured me I made the right decision. However, the bar area was not as inviting or welcoming as the evening progressed. My bartender was cordial and asked if I wanted a cocktail. I asked if this place makes a good Cosmopolitan. He said "Do you like it tart or sweet?" (Never been asked that before, but I appreciated the question.) I said "tart" and he made me the BEST Cosmopolitan I've had in a while! It was served half in a glass and the rest in a small decanter surrounded in a glass of ice. Great presentation and even better drink! Just a touch of pink and nice and strong. 5 star start! Then, it went downhill. I ordered the Wedge Salad ($9) and the Seared Scallops ($18), both under the "Starters, Small Plates" section. Both were very good, with excellent presentation. I should have realized the "Small Plates" would only provide a few scallops (3), but they were very well prepared and quite good. After I ordered and the food was provided, little customer service was given thereafter. I had to ask for water refills twice. (When I finally asked for my check, I got a refill without asking.) During this time, only one other customer was in the bar. The two bartenders were talking to another employee about a streaming finale one recently watched. Eventually, the second bartender came onto my side and I asked if I could order one more item from him since my bartender never came back. (The first bartender was Josh, which I discovered when I got the bill receipt.) The other bartender took my order for the Pot Roast Nachos (as I still somewhat hungry) and the Nachos were absolutely fantastic, just like the reviews recommended. At 8pm, I left as I was the only patron left in the bar (I wonder why?) and they were cleaning up even though closing was still an hour away. The bill for two cocktails and the food mentioned above came to $77. Then, $13 was added for Tennessee state/county tax and also liquor/wine tax!!! Was my meal and service worth $100, not really. As I left, I saw the personable Drew and she asked me how the evening went. I explained and she apologized that it did not meet my expectations. I said I just think I came on an off night. However, maybe she should tell management that if only one customer is left at the bar, you should treat them with the attention and respect as anyone who came in earlier. I don't feel I received the service I deserved for the price I paid so sadly, I can only provide a review based on this one time experience. read more

This is connected to the Public House restaurant (which was great). Stopped into the Social while waiting for colleagues to arrive for dinner. Looks the part of an old style bar with well-worn wooden bar. Bartenders were friendly & attentive. I decided to try The Social Sour, which is basically a New York sour - a whiskey sour with a red wine float. It looks great & tasted great too but I wasn't absolutely sure it was actually red wine on top. In any case try that or the barkeep's old fashioned. read more

Arguably went here at an odd time of day (3:30 pm) so they were offering a limited menu. I decided on the Wedge Salad and I was not disappointed!! Topped with delicious crunchy fried onions and fantastic blue cheese dressing. Only gave me 1 cherry tomato? Dressing has a kick to it - but I loved it! Great cozy atmosphere. If you're shopping in the warehouse area and looking for a great spot to relax, I highly recommend The Social cocktail bar. We were debating between eating at the bar or the main restaurant, and ultimately the friendly bartenders and the cool, laid-back atmosphere of The Social won us over. We had an amazing experience. My wife ordered the lobster bisque soup, which was absolutely delicious. The special of the day was chicken pot pie, and it did not disappoint--flaky, flavorful, and comforting. My daughter and I both had the fried chicken, and it was perfectly crispy and tender. The service was outstanding, with the bartenders being not only attentive but also surprisingly passionate about Formula One racing--something we didn't expect but really enjoyed chatting about. For dessert, my daughter went with the banana pudding, and it was out of this world. Everything we had was just spot on. The Social is a great place to chill and have an adult libation when in DT Chattanooga. They are right on point. The service is impeccable! The wait staff is wonderful and helpful in pushing you over the edge on your decision if you can't make up your mind. No...really. They're helpful in that by describing the drink down to its last detail. Not a lot of waiters take the time to do that but ours did and I'm happy for that! I came here with my daughter and we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. We didn't sit at the bar. We sat at one of their cozy semi-private alcoves and our waiter came right away to take care of us. We had a wine and cheese appetizer, which was very good. The rest of the drinks are strong, well thought out and pretty. Chattanooga has a whiskey distillery and has fabulous whiskey, which The Social incorporates into quite a few of their curated and crafted drinks. We were also having food at Public House next door (actually, they share a space), so we just had a quiet meal on The Social side. I had fried chicken, which was crispy and juicy and fabulous! My husband and I stumbled upon The Social after checking into our hotel across the street. We stopped in for their oyster happy hour and ended up staying for dinner. The oysters and marinated olives were a perfect start to the evening. As a sober girl, I was SO grateful for the zero-proof cocktails on the drink menu! You may have a difficult time finding a parking spot during their busy hours, but, once you get in and seated at The Social, your concerns will melt away. Service is good, the atmosphere is light and comfortable, and they've got a drink waiting for your order. Okay, so maybe you don't drink alcohol. They'll grab a tea or cola for ya, too. I seem to be stuck on the pork tenderloin. Those apples really add something to the dish. Hubby had the Shrimp and Grits, and we shared a large portion of the Roasted Beets side dish. This is my favorite happy hour place! It seems that everything is just $5. And the food is delicious. Pot Roast nachos , trout dip and chicken fingers with thinly cut fries. OMG!!!! Take a look at the pictures I posted. You will see the portions are large. Several wines and beers are also included in that price. We had a great time visiting here. It was crowded, we found a spot at the bar. We were pleased to find that the bartender was great. He made us several drinks from or list of favorites, like the "Air Mail"... Nice place with great atmosphere. Excellent service. Food was delicious. My impression was that you get a lot for your dollar here. Service and food are on par with places that are a good bit more expensive. Definitely a place to return to. read more

Great happy hour with a nice vibe. They have a decent selection of craft beers on tap but it's really about the cocktails.

We enjoyed afternoon cocktails and nosh while watching a bit of football. Our server was ADORABLE, and I think we wore her out but you'd never know it, she was so kind and attentive and answered all of our questions. We enjoyed a cheese and meat board, pimento cheese and fried pickles, and chicken fingers and fries. And some lovely cocktails and beers. This is in the middle of some great shopping spots, so it's the perfect mid-shopping respite. Nice vibe and comfortable seating. The Social at Warehouse Row on Market Street in Chattanooga is a cool place for drinks and food in a relaxed and laid back atmosphere. I like the location and space and how everything is laid out here. The staff here is attentive and works hard to make sure that you have everything you need to have fun and a good time. The Social SLAYED my expectations, indeed it's the best bar in Chattanooga !! It shares the kitchen with the Public House, so it gives the best of both worlds and 'KIDS WERE ALLOWED' in the bar area to my surprise ;) Had the "BEST" hard to find North Carolina trout, dynamite whiskey with peanuts immersed in a Coke bottle (no exaggerations, they had one hell of a selection of whiskeys) & the creamiest grit ever!! She greeted me with a genuine smile the reached her eyes, she said the seating was open and told me to sit anywhere I liked. She was quick to provide water service and additional beverages as requested. She was pleasent and very customer focused as she took our orders and made the dinning experience a fun filled event. Ate here on a Thursday for 2 dollar chicken biscuits and was less than impressed. The biscuits were extremely dry by the end I was only eating the chicken off. Service was also extremely slow. The bartender is quite the snob. I mean I never got asked if I wanted a drink. He slung some water at me and after 10 minutes or so a menu. It was almost 20 minutes before I was as if I would like something to eat. I did I even asked for the Public House when I walked in. It wasn't like they were busy there was maybe 4-5 people at a 20-25 person bar. I did order an appetizer finally. Now it was quite good. I had the Barton Creek Farms Carpaccio with a parm n arugula salad. The dish was delicious but I love raw beef. I just wish this bartender guy liked his job more or maybe I wasn't the type of person they want here at social. I bet the couple I met that work at another restaurant. They were happy to see me. They have awesome weeknight specials!!My husband and I went on and Wednesday night when their special was 75 cent oysters and $5 champagne cocktails. I had one of the champagne cocktails, which was super delicious and he had a regular cocktail which was great as well. The oysters were fresh and super delicious. Our only complaint is we sat at the bar and the overall service was not good. When we arrived the bartenders were consumed in talking to a couple of customers on the opposite side for a long length of time which resulted in us taking a while to place an order. Then they brought us the wrong order, but had no problem correcting it. The rest of the evening, they were friendly but not attentive, even though they were not busy at all. I was in town for a teacher's conference - of course I was looking for a great drink. This place SLAYED my expectations! Had an excellent boulevardier, old fashioned, and "Chattahattan". The drinks were poured and shaken with expertise, but I recommend the latter two be presented on a single large cube (blvd was served up in a coup and old fashioned was served with many small cubes). BUT overall five stars: service was fantastic, food was fantastic (had the mushroom and goat cheese grilled cheese) and drinks were fantastic. Will absolutely be back next time I'm in this city! read more
