It's not quite a 3 star but didn't quite meet a 4 star either. Let's start with what's great here. A great oyster program with delicious oysters from a range of East Coast locations. Wonderful cocktail list with well balanced, well made cocktails. I loved my old fashioned and others enjoyed their drinks too. Very nice, attentive service from the servers although they brought out the oysters without telling us what was what and service was at times bumpy. The interior is nice, with it feeling casual but somewhere you could bring a date. And we enjoyed the lobster cakes which were well done, nice sauce, without overwhelming the sweetness of the lobster itself. So that was positive. Where it failed: the tuna bites on regular and not crispy rice was hard to eat. It was good but a little unruly. The halibut piccatta was VERY dry, almost bordering on inedible. Their special, which was a bento box was not great. The flavors didn't go together and their sushi eggroll had cream cheese which is very gross. Their steak frites was fine if not that memorable. All in all, I would come back for their drinks and their oysters but not sure I would come back for a full meal here.
The food was AMAZING! Each dish was full of flavor and the prices were reasonable. I got a cocktail too which was so delicious and STRONG! The ambiance is fun and service excellent. I'm from Los Angeles ca where we have lots of great options and even then, this place is a winner!
Very nice restaurant in CHattanooga. My main complaint, if any, is it is very open and loud. Service was great and server recommended the poke, which turned out to be a wonderful part of the meal. This restaurant is located in the Chatanooga Choo Choo train station building. The entrance is in the front, altough you might be able to enter from inside the station. I have been in the area numerous times and this is the first time I had dinner in this area. This was a late dinner, so we focused on sharing a few plates over a full meal. I did not write down the type of oysters on the menu that day, but got one of each of the rotating oysters. The poke was the star. Very nicely prepared with a wide variety of vegetables to complement the fish and rice. The kale was my least favorite, but the way they prepared it added to the poke. After trying different things individually, we mixed it into the biggest mess. She had the elderflower sour, which was a nice blend of sweet and sour, with cucumbers to offset some of the sweet. I usually get a old fashioned, but decided to get the Road Less Traveled, which was similar to my norm, but with a blackberry twist. I would definitely visit again, given the chance. Solid restaurant.
Went for brunch and fell in love. There was live jazz band, a bar that had pastries, pasta, salad , brownies & treats, that come for FREE with any entree. I got the Chicken and Waffles and it was big enough for two.... Hubby got the lobster/crab cake Benedict. Both were big enough for two... Service was wonderful, Alex was an in restaurant tour guide and made great suggestions for the entire day. We look forward to returning for dinner.
(with a wink) Upon recommendation from a lovely bartender at the Moxy, we wandered over to Stir--and immediately walked into a whole vibe. Industrial, buzzy, packed... the kind of place where you plan for "one drink" and suddenly you're making new friends at the bar. Speaking of--sat down next to total strangers from PA and Knoxville, TN. My new friend? An oyster enthusiast on a mission. She needed a partner in crime... and I happily rose to the occasion. Raw oysters, Rockefeller--so many oysters (heavy on the James River). Now, the Rockefeller oysters came topped with big shaved Parmesan that hadn't quite melted... which felt a little rogue, but hey--could've been how they were ordered. Oyster diplomacy prevailed. I ordered the seafood salad--loaded with lobster and shrimp. Fresh, citrusy, light, and absolutely fantastic. One of those dishes you keep going back to even when you're "full." We also tried the much-talked-about goat cheese ravioli. And... here's where things got a little dicey. The edges were undercooked. Sent it back. Round two... same situation. Filling? Delicious. Execution? Not quite there. To their credit, they took it off the bill without hesitation. Service-wise--bartenders were hustling hard, but clearly stretched thin for the crowd. Management might want to hop behind the bar and order a drink themselves... they'd feel it real quick. All in all: great energy, fun crowd, solid seafood, and a bar experience that makes the night. Just maybe skip the ravioli... unless you're into a little suspense with your pasta. Would absolutely go back--for the oysters, the vibe, and the chance to meet my next random oyster-sharing friend.
Great ambience, great cocktails, wonderful service. We were a large group last minute and had to split tables but we got Joseph as a server and he was great. Considering we were 18 ppl he did a great job. We ordered oysters to share. I ordered the special bento box and my friends ordered the grouper, salad, hamburger egg rolls, serloin, filet and appetizer fish taco and many more. Food all came together and was very good. It was not cheap but we enjoyed the food and had a great time
Blown away by Stir. Atmosphere, food, service, they nailed it. Our waiter was kind and helpful, helped us pick out the most popular things on the menu. We ended up getting oysters, a garden chicken, and a chicken picotta as well as the crème brûlée all of it was drool-worthy. The atmosphere was cool, very industrial modern with unfinished accents. They had all kinds of seats like high tops, regular tables, booths, bar seats. We didn't have to wait more than 20 minutes for our table so not bad at all. Make sure you pay for your parking !!
Great food! Love the made from scratch kitchen and entrees! Amazing filet -highly recommend. Cooked exactly as I wanted. Goat cheese ravioli was amazing! Crème Brûlée 10/10! Wonderful service. Fun and upbeat atmosphere!
I loved this place, the food was incredible I ordered the oyster Rockefeller and the crab brisket. The service and waitress was amazing . The ambiance is so beautiful.
Came in really late for us - 10pm after an exhausting day. Just wanted a bite and a nice glass of wine. Fortunately they are open late. Parking is a PIA, but beyond that it was great. The space is amazing in the old train terminal. They have an extensive menu with lots of choices for everyone. The wine list was a bit of a challenge as they were out of our first choice and they didn't have a sommelier on the floor. We had three different appetizers , finished our wine and headed out at closing. Would definitely return!
This place had a really cute vibe. I stopped by on vacation and we tried the oysters which were a nice size and really good. We also tried the shrimp and grits and the goat cheese ravioli special which was a hit. The goat cheese added just the right about of flavor.

This was the second time we have been to Stir and it was amazing as usual! Karlie was our server and she was the best! We sat outside on a beautiful day and the food never disappoints. read more

Our service was amazing!! We got the center cut filet, the STIR-burger, and the steak frites! The center cuts were asked to be cooked medium, but unfortunately were well done. The burger was juicy and delicious and the steak frites were amazing! Crunch fries and a delicious tangy sauce. We had Chloe as our waiter and she was an amazing waitress!!!!! read more

Stir is a Resturant which surely fascinates you because of it's Chattanooga downtown location . They generally have a long wait so call and reserve in advance. While waiting they have a nice area which you can walk around and visit the older train and hotel nearby. They have a valet parking so we don't have to keep Looking for parking. They have some nice cocktails and a decent menu. Food and service was good. read more

Stir has a beautiful interior with high ceilings located in the old train station. It's known for its bar but we went for lunch. There's plenty of seating and good for large groups as well. We ordered truffle fries, crispy mahi bowl, and a sesame steak bowl. Everything was absolutely delicious. Those were some of the best truffle fries I've had. The steak bowl had a really great flavor and highly recommend. The mahi bowl is slightly sweeter than I had hoped but still enjoyed it read more
The food was very good!We started with the appetizer. It was a nice selection. Then we split the grilled roast beef sandwich with fries. The sandwich was delicious. The fries were good, could have been a little more crispy. The service was excellent. And the building is super cool. read more

We found this place in a strip of other restaurants but it stood out because it was packed even on a rainy night (always a good sign). The space is beautiful--upscale rustic--and the host got us seated faster than expected. Our server, Sarah, was amazing: super knowledgeable, funny, and on top of everything. She never left us hanging. I got the tuna poke bowl, my boyfriend had the lobster + shrimp mac and cheese--both were incredible. We also got drinks: his Chattanooga sour was very good, and my elderflower sour was easily one of the best drinks of the trip. Everything tasted super fresh, and Sarah told us most of the menu is made from scratch--including their custom ice!! Such a great experience. My husband and I were looking for a spot to have our one year wedding anniversary dinner and we found stir. We were impressed with the building which is really cool and right by the Chattanooga choo-choo. The service was really good and our server was super friendly the food was pretty good And the drinks were great. I got the sangria and my husband had a beer what I can truly rave about was their chocolate cake we had for dessert. It was the best chocolate cake I've ever had in my life. I have no idea how they made it so moist and delicious. We could not stop eating it overall very happy with our choice of this as our anniversary spot. read more

Amazing atmosphere and food! The service was also very good. We started with the whipped feta app and it was amazing! Drinks and app came out quickly and then our food was not far behind. We both had steaks - cooked perfect. No complaints - will revisit the next time I'm in town. read more

Oysters were so-so. Perhaps for someone not familiar with New Orleans cuisine, this would be good. Drinks were delicious and filet was melt-in-your-mouth. read more
we went to STIR for our friends birthday. We were greeted with friendly staff. Our waitress was friendly and was nice enough to split the bill for our big group. We got the oysters to start- they were not that great, i would skip the next time. I ordered the Halibut, which was super good. I loved the flavor profile and the veggies. My boyfriend got the shrimp and grits, they were very rich and so good. My STIR old fashioned was good. read more

Had a chance to visit STIR with a group from work this past week and was nicely surprised! We had 14 in the group and our service was very good. Everything from drinks to apps to entrees came out very timely. Great location with nice patio area. I had the seared sesame tuna it was very fresh and cooked perfectly! I tried the cold seafood salad that someone else ordered super refreshing very flavorful. Will be on the list for my next visit. read more

Had breakfast here because it was within walking distance to where we were staying in Chattanooga. The the country breakfast and the sausage biscuit and gravy was a huge portion. Well worth the money spent. read more

This place was popping on a Wednesday evening. The interior of this place is beautifully designed with the fancy ladder bar and floor to ceiling windows. Their main selling point is crafted ice which is basically fancy clear ice that's rid of impurities. Pretty neat if you asked me. Its supposed to melt slower but it melted in my cocktail at a relatively average pace lol. I had two cocktails. The first was the field of dreams that tasted very fragrant but too watery for my liking. I think the second cocktail I had was the margarita which tasted fine. Both were really really strong though. For my meal I had the steak frites. It was perfectly medium rare and easy to bite. The fries were crispy and tasted good with the steak sauce on the side. read more

Oh, this restaurant. Unbelievable. Let's start with the service. WOW. Sat at the bar on 9/6/25 and was taken care of by the two incredible bartenders, Vsop and John Luke. Vsop's genuineness and attention to detail is absolutely stellar. The way these two work the bar and show genuine interest in the needs of their guest is pretty remarkable. STIR is so lucky to have these two on their team!!! The Filet & House Goat Cheese Ravioli is mouthwatering (I wish I took a picture). The ravioli was cooked to perfection and the filet didn't even need a steak knife to cut into! I can't put into words how great the dish was. Kudos to management and I wanted to give a special shout out to Scott, you can surely tell he leads by example. I live in Nashville so I'm only a 2ish hour drive from here but I will 100% solely come back for a dinner at STIR. WELL DONE!!!! read more

It's a really big building and you can't miss it because it's on the corner. The bar is major and huge, so you can probably get whatever you want. It has plenty of seats in there has some indoor and outdoor options. The service was pretty good (Victor took care of me). I can't complain. They had a few TVs so if you want to watch a game this will be a spot to do it at but don't expect it to be full of TVs like a sports bar. Char broiled oysters were aight (This is kind of why I actually picked the place in the first place). I probably would not order them again. They were pretty small if you compare them to places like NOLA which is not fair... I know! But that is my baseline lol. Then she came out more on the burnt side than the char side so that was a little bit dissuading. I'm a big fan of Char-Broiled oysters so that part didn't do it for me. They had an okay flavor, but it didn't really have as much flavors I would have liked because it was a little more drier inside of the shells. Cheeseburger egg rolls were really good. Nothing much to say, but they were something I would go for again. The sauce took them up another level. Caesar salad was ok, I mean it's hard to mess up a salad lol but it was a little dry when it comes out so you will have to get some extra dressing FYI. I can't say I would hurry to come back, but it was only an okay experience as far as the food goes. The service was actually good so I will give them that, but I would probably try some other things instead of coming back here honestly. It doesn't mean it was bad, but, I was not floored or wild. I will give them another shot, but let me make my way through Chattanooga first. read more
For all the hype this place gets, I thought it was just ok... Got the blacked fish tacos, chargrilled oysters, fried green tomatoes, and the stir fry. The story fry was heavy and overly sweet. The oysters were decent but nothing like traditional chargrilled oysters. The tacos were ok but a dry. The tomatoes were good but topped with an odd kind of fake tasting cheese. Nothing really stand out about this place tbh. read more

I was with a party of 10- we ordered a lot of food - spicy tuna bites, chefs board, halibut, salmon, chicken piccata and the special Crab Noodle bowl. The entrees were good, however when I told the waiter that there was no crab in the crab noodle entree, he told me that they could bring me more crab (really?) and then charge me for it. Really outrageous! I mentioned this was unacceptable and I sent the entree back. I guess he realized that a table of 10 was going to be a very large bill and he came back and told me that I was not going to be charged for the crab noodles, which was the correct answer. read more
I really enjoyed STIR. I had a seafood salad which consisted of shrimp and lobster and everything was fresh. We had really good service and he was very informative. The restaurant was nice and clean and a place anybody can go. I would certainly go back. read more
I came by to treat myself to dinner while traveling to Cloudland Canyon. I started with the Wild Moon Child cocktail. It was beautiful and delicious. For dinner I ordered the Grilled Swordfish special with a Caesar salad. I was disappointed when my salad came out after my meal. But, I just ate it alongside my entree. The swordfish dish was delicious, my only complaint was that the risotto was lukewarm. So before I could really get into my meal, it was cold. I chose to sit at the bar, and the bartenders were very attentive and helpful when I was t sure which signature cocktail I wanted to order. It seemed to get pretty busy by the time I was wrapping up my meal. There was a nice collection of folks there to mix and mingle with. This seems to be a place that several of the locals love to come meet up with their friends for a drink after work. The atmosphere is laid back, but not overly casual. I really enjoyed my time there. read more
Came back to Stir for dinner the other night and this may be one of my new favorite spots for cocktails AND eats. It's clearly a popular spot, and based on both of my experiences here, it lives up to the hype. Our waiter was so friendly, made a point to get to know us, and answered all of our questions about the menu. This time, my husband and I came w/ another cocktail, tried multiple cocktails and entrees - the tuna poke bowl was sooo good and everyone was so happy with their meals too - including the scallops, the steak bowl, and the tuna burger.
