When you walk in and see that it is in an old train station and see how beautiful it is. They do bourbon, whiskey, rum, vodka and gin. I tasted all of them, and even thou I am not a gin man, it was pretty good. Their Vodka is clean and smooth. Their bourbons and whiskey are also very good. First visit here and it was a late Friday afternoon. When we were there, it was a very relaxed atmosphere, we sat at the bar and the bartender was very knowledgeable about their spirits and appreciatively outgoing. They have a full bar service here and they only serve their spirits. Since it was my first visit, I tried a flight which consisted of four 1/4 ounce pours for $10; a high price just to sample their liquors, but I relinquished. Gate 11 Distillery had some excellent cocktails, and since they don't serve food, pets are welcome indoors--which is always a plus. We chose to sit outside because live music was scheduled, and we didn't want it to be too loud for Luna. They're very relaxed about guests bringing in their own food, which was great--we ordered from Nic & Norman's to enjoy with our drinks. They also offer tastings, though it seems to depend on how busy they are. There was just one bartender managing everything, but she was fantastic--super attentive, and we never had to wait. Luna met a couple of other dogs, and we saw several more pass by while we were there. It was nice to see others out enjoying a drink with their pups. They show you how their spirits are made, explain the machinery and process, and give you plenty of tasting options. If you're visiting the historic Chattanooga train station to see the famous "choo choos", this little distillery is definitely worth a stop for a cocktail made with their distilled spirits, or as we did, for a tasting. The basic tasting is any 4 of their spirits available that day. Adding more is very inexpensive, too (although after 4 shots, even communion cup size, you may not want to add too many more, especially if you're driving). Our tasting host was very knowledgeable about their spirits and helped us pick the ones we were most likely to enjoy. I wasn't wild about their whiskeys (even though this is Tennessee); I felt they lacked depth. But I found their gin to be excellent (very complex, with a lot of florals from the botanicals, but not overwhelming). The 151 rum packed a real kick. And the absinthe was also very good. read more

Great spot w/ great cocktails by the Chattanooga Choo Choo! My husband and I stopped here mid-bike ride on a week day to grab some good drinks. The location is perfect - it's shaded and right next to the train tracks by the Choo Choo. There weren't many people around so service was quick and friendly. The highlight of this place is the drinks though! The bartender said that Gate 11 is known for their gin, so I ordered a gin drink - the Garden Tryst - and my husband got the Whiskey Tower. Both drinks were SO fresh: the bartender even pulled mint leaves right out of the plant in front of the bar for my drink. Definitely a good spot for some delicious cocktails! read more

This distillery was very groovy. We had a lovely tour of where they produce all the spirits. Gate 11 has a great, efficient operation that offers a wide range of terrific spirits. The absinthe and dry gin were the true standouts that brought us to a place of nirvana. The woman who gave us the tour was incredibly knowledgeable on all the spirits, the distilling and beverage industry at large. After the tour, we did a flight of all the spirits, as well as comparing the various herbs used in the gin from a nose standpoint. We left there very satisfied and a little tipsy. Definitely a lot of fun and the bartenders serve great cocktails at the bar. read more

They don't do the Whisky Trail promotion and what made it worse is they don't care. They violate the rules and flaunt it. They were not very nice throughout the interaction. The inside bar was a mess and the bartender was too busy to care. She said the owner doesn't care and hopes people turn them in. "Created in 2017and announced by the Tennessee Distillers Guild, the trail is a collaborative effort of dozens of Tennessee Distillers, with the ultimate goal of promoting whiskey tourism in the Volunteer State. Today, the trail has 28 stops. Visitors can get a free passport booklet online or at participating distilleries. At each stop, visitors will get their passports stamped and receive a commemorative poker chip. Anyone who collects all 28 stamps will get a gift to go along with the chips." This was our favorite distillery in Chattanooga, we went twice during our 4 day visit. They had a great mix of tasting flights as well as standard cocktails and special cocktails. We enjoyed everything we tried. The staff are all super friendly and helpful in selecting drinks. The space is large inside and out, plenty of seating. It's located inside the lobby of the Chattanooga Choo-Choo hotel. There is parking in front (pay at the machine/via app) or in the garage next door (take a ticket and pay when you leave). There is a brewery operating out of one of the train cars in the back behind the distillery so make sure you pay for enough parking to visit everything in the area. An extra special shout out, the second time we went back I was taking antibiotics for an ear infection so I couldn't drink. The bartender made me a special mocktail so that I didn't have to drink water - she was the only one that whole day who went the extra mile to make me feel included. My husband and I stumbled upon this near our hotel. They were having karaoke night. The DJ did not play radio edits of songs which on a few occasions had the bartenders apologizing to parents with children and giving cringing apologetic half smiles to the older generations visually disturbed by the music choices. The DJ would let's his friends perform and play random songs between sets. When my spouse wanted to participate; the DJ took his song down and proceeded to call his friends and play songs between sets. We waited over 20 minutes waiting for my spouse to be called. We ended up leaving when the DJ had another friend perform; so uncertain if my spouse was ever called. Would recommend that the DJ plays radio edits of songs and not cater to slowly his friends or get a new DJ. The bar is small with indoor and outdoor seating and seating at the bar both indoor and outdoor. The outdoor seating is covered well and a good place to sit during unfair weather. The drinks are good. They had Thursday night specials and full menu. My spouse had a hurricane and was very happy with the first one. Mixed right and made perfectly. His refilled was not made like the first and when it was brought up; his second drink was mixed again. He told the bartender it wasn't the same still and tasted off. The bartender did not offer to make him a new one and shrugged it off. My Margarita Thursday special was good and the Lilth's Garden was fantastic. read more

I like this place for the entertainment . Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights free entertainment. My favorite is when the Distillery Divas perform. It's an incredible night with high energy music. The distillery drinks are incredibly smooth. Bartenders hustle to serve everyone and it's just a fun night. Located in the Chattanooga Choo Choo and outside in the courtyard. Plenty of tables out back to enjoy the fresh air, live music and delicious drinks. They even have a special that helps support a local animal shelter. It's ok to bring your own food. Great places all around if you want to do that. Plenty of parking on the street and also a parking garage. PS be a good Yelper and tip the entertainment. read more

She was patient, gave us her opinion on things, explained what they had... gave us food tips since we are just visiting!!! Robert went for the butterbeer- now, he's tainted, because I make homemade butterbeer and it's so delicious! But he did enjoy the alcoholic version. I had the "Never Trust The Living" special cocktail with rum, house made raspberry syrup, blue curacao, lemon juice and smoking sage and it was amazing! The sage enhanced the entire drink and whatever they put on the top to make it gold... it was beautiful and delicious. John had the Gate 11 flight of all the spirits. Which I sampled as well- loved the rum, vodka and five year whiskey. After we were all done- we shared one apple pie rum shot- yes I know, but we had more places to go to. I love this place! The owners are really cool and down to earth! Their gin is my favorite, and I love that you can see and smell what all goes into making it. My husband loves their darker spirits (but also really enjoys the gin), and it's really neat that they also make absinthe. Their array of cocktails and changing specials keeps me interested, and they are in a great spot so you can sit outside and enjoy the trains or people watch if you like. I have yet to have an unsupportive or underwhelming bartender either - they're awesome and will work with you to make you a cocktail you will love. So glad to have this gem in our city! read more

Can I give this place more stars?!? We had such a wonderful experience here. They were taking lots of covid precautions, and everyone was wearing a mask. We went right when they opened, and they had adorable flowers on every table. The service was amazing, and each cocktail was handcrafted. I got the Garden Tryst, and it was AMAZING! Husband and I went in here after eating at a nearby pub and I got a raspberry frozen drink, which was one of the specials, and he got an old fashioned. The bartender made it and there was real raspberry purée or something in it but I tasted no alcohol at all lol. There was supposed to be rum or something in it. My husband laughed at me but it was more like a smoothie than a daiquiri or whatever it was supposed to be. I did like the ambience so I would go back just to sit outside and I would get a shot of rum instead lol. read more
