Western omelette with fruit
Wayne Z.

Interesting spot attached to a church. Parking threw us for a loop as they blocked off their direct entrance on a Sunday morning and was funneling through the church entrance off the side road. Ample seating inside and out and was not very busy at 1030am. Service was friendly and attentive. Brunch menu had less options on it than the version online but had a decent amount of breakfast and lunch items (ie burger, wings, salads, pizza). Wife ordered western omelette and I went with the choose your own bfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and a biscuit. Food definitely took too long to come out (30 min after we ordered) but it was good once it finally came out (biscuit was huge and fluffy). Couple other observations, good many kids here bc of location to the church and the fact they have a playground area. Wasn't as loud as you'd expect but there were some toddlers wandering around at times. Also, with the open front door and raise up garage doors, we were hounded incessantly by flies during our meal.

CYO breakfast. Egg whites, bacon, biscuit and potato's.

The online menu is different from the one in store. We went for Brunch over the weekend and were disappointed in the items I was hoping to get. Service was fine. Restaurant was very clean.

Burger week continues and on Thursday, first stop is a restaurant I've never visited. Affiliated with a local church, I applaud their mission to support recovering addicts. The burger wasn't bad, and I think there were some missed opportunities to really accentuate flavors with just some minor tweaking of the ingredients, as an example, the candied jalapeños were just too tiny to contribute to the overall flavor. Service was good, a very friendly and helpful staff. Clean restaurant, but rather cold and plain.

Searching for a new place downtown and we stumbled upon the Common Table. It was a beautiful day to sit outside and the food was delicious!

The place is very clean, friendly staff and it's really big. Apparently it's connected next to a church which is cool. Imagine having service and going next door for lunch and fellowship. The food was very good. I had a pimento on sourdough bread meal, they brought the wrong order in but was so apologetic and even took it off the bill, which I'm really grateful for but it wasn't that big of deal for me. It was a kind gesture and they deserve 5 stars. Love them for that. We were out of towners, just got done seeing rock city and googled some food places and found the perfect spot.

I am a local. I have never had anything on their menu that I didn't like. Excellent meal prep and personal uncommon service.

Great food, and the portion sizes are very generous with very reasonable prices. The kids meals were almost adult sized for only $8-9.

Love the mission, but the experience was not good. The restaurant is in an active church and wasn't what we were looking for.

It was really hard to decide on a rating for our experience. We were super excited to try the 1885…read moreGrill while in town. We went early in the afternoon on a weekday, so it was very quiet. It was also a beautiful day so we sat on the patio. I love that they work with local organizations for fresh vegetables and meat! Our waiter was very nice and fairly attentive. But the food... For the good - the crab cake was delicious. It was like all crab meat with no filler and was very tasty. The pimento cheese was also SO yummy. You could tell it was made fresh and had a great flavor. The pita it came with was fine, a little over-grilled. I was not crazy about the fried okra. I wish the pieces weren't just cut in half, because to me they had that slimy okra texture inside. My gf said they weren't THAT bad, but I really had to push myself to eat them. The rosemary fries have a great flavor and were crispy (I prefer thicker fries but my gf enjoyed these). I LOVE mac and cheese and was super excited to try theirs. It was very creamy and had a good flavor but there was way too much cheese for the amount of noodles. Like the ratio was pretty off. Now for THE issue. My gf ordered the Filet Mignon, medium. It came raw and without the blue cheese compound butter. By the time the waiter came to check on us, I was half done eating. He took the steak to be put back on the grill and brought it back with a bowl of crumbled blue cheese. It was still raw inside. He brought us extra fries, but by the time it came back I was done eating. She asked for it to go and it was STILL RAW. She had cut it, so it was super obvious if you looked. The manager came and talked to us and they took it off the bill, but for a $40 filet mignon it should not take 3 tries to cook it right and it still not really be right. She said there are cold spots on the grill and they're training a new line cook, but it was not a good look... I'd maybe give more of a pass if they were packed, but there was no one eating inside and maybe two other tables of folks outside.

They were okay, but for 5 bucks...what do you expect?‍. I would say the accompanying butter was supposed to be honey butter, but it seemed like regular butter to me! The server was polite, but I was scratching my head because she started with---"Let me go see what's not available anymore." Shouldn't she have done that before speaking to us?? The atmosphere is relaxed, but there isn't much to the decor. It was just casual.... there was brown butcher paper on top of white table cloths...kind of tacky really. It was busy, however, which added to the noise. Hubby and I both ordered the 1885 burger. Now, we are talkin'! The burger was delicious! . It was juicy and tasty. Just an all around fantastic burger. This alone is what will bring me and hubby back. The loaded baked potato was standard, but good too. It sounds like this experience wasn't great, but like I said, the burger alone is enough to go back to enjoy.

Every one of the sides looks so good and fresh that I wanted to get each one of them just to try it! The fish was cooked perfectly and was nice and tender. The beets were fresh and the goat cheese carried so much flavor. For the desserts, we got the carrot cake with pecans and chocolate cheesecake. Both were soooo good. I would get both of them again, especially the carrot cake which was so warm and moist. And the candied pecans were such a nice complement to the cake - not too sweet at all. The ambience is super nice and fresh, and our server was so sweet and engaging. The hostess as well. Everybody there was so nice and welcoming. Hunter recommended adding Pepper Jack cheese and Bacon, as well as the Brussels Sprouts with Maple & Bacon. Everything was wonderful. There were way too many Brussels sprouts. The vibe is relaxed and social, great patio energy, easy place to hang out with friends, and it feels lively without being overwhelming. The food was solid. Tasty, well prepared, good portions, but nothing that blew me away or felt dramatically different from other brunch spots I've tried. That said, the pricing felt fair. I had the breakfast sandwich and my wife had the Mexican Omelette. The Bloody Mary was actually really good, balanced and flavorful. I was a little surprised they didn't have any stuffed olives (my go-to garnish), and the server wasn't familiar with them, which caught me off guard. Not a big deal, just unexpected. The only real hiccup was at the end. Our ticket got mixed up and I tried having the server correct it. He said he would at the computer, he took our cards and I get a receipt where my card was charged on another ticket. So I ended up paying for someone else's food. It wasn't intentional and these things happen, but it was a frustrating way to wrap up the meal. Overall, I'd come back. Good atmosphere, fair prices, solid food. It's not a "must plan your whole weekend around it" spot for me, but it's a dependable option if you're in the area.

I made reservations about a week in advance (highly recommend), and even arriving a few minutes early at 5:00 pm, the place was already buzzing. The hostess greeted us immediately and had us seated right away. Our server was on it from the start: waters filled, drink orders taken quickly, and excellent guidance on appetizers. We went with the tomato pie, which sounds simple... but don't be fooled. The flavors are anything but basic. This is not an appetizer you politely share and move on from. It's plenty for four people, though you may find yourself quietly plotting how to secure the last bite. For our mains, we shared the warm beet salad and the beef picanha. The salad had such a great flavor pairing that even my husband, who is not a beet fan, loved it (a true culinary miracle). The picanha was incredibly flavorful and may very well be the best thing on the menu... except for the mashed potatoes.
