The Swelter Black & Blue Burger, their Burger Week entry
    Timothy S.

It's Burger Week here in Chattanooga so tonight I opted to visit a location to which I have not been since it was called Walk Ons. Walk Ons was a sport bar/restaurant, and the motif really hasn't changed (there are over 50 TV's present) they are clearly downplaying that element has over half of the TV's were either off or had rotating art. It was so obvious I had to ask and was advised the new ownership was looking to distance themselves from that image, while projecting a finer dining image. Clearly neither the motif nor the menu was indicative of such a shift, but that will require an additional visit. Their burger entry for Burger Week was excellent, the accompanying hand cut fries were hot and tasty. The beer selection was a bit light for my liking. The service was excellent, always important. I'm a bit at a loss as to how to rate Riverport Grille. My experience tonight was positive, it was a great burger. So as a participant in this week's Burger Week event, a positive result. The disconnect on the sports theme is so obvious to me, impacting the likelihood of my future return.

So when I go on vacation. I always study the restaurant and talk to the locals. River port grille was a recommendation. So of course I studied their menu. I saw the pork chops and that sounded so good. When I arrived. I was quickly seated . Ally soon arrived asking me what I would like to order. So of course I ordered the pork chops witch came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. There was an Apple craisin topping that went over the pork chops. I wasn't sure about that so Ally informed me I could order that on the side,so I did just that. The food soon arrived and the presentation looked wonderful. The pork chops were grilled and tender. The mashed potatoes has a nice parmasain taste. The broccoli was perfectly steamed with a wonderful buttery flavor to them. But the best part. I noticed as a dessert they had peanut butter pie. So after finishing my dinner of course,I had to have that. She brought me a piece. Let's just say it was huge. The taste also was spectacular. That alone made the meal a 15 out of 10. Lol I would return here just for the peanut butter pie.

Really enjoyed the menu at this restaurant, it was hard to choose! Everything sounded delicious. We started with some brisket nachos and I had the ahi tuna and a side of fries for my entree. The sauce that came with the ahi was a little spicy which I wasn't expecting but other wise, very good. Service was fantastic and active. Looked like they were preparing for a large party.

Walking in we were greeted with the warmest and friendliest welcome. The ambiance is very sports bar. Our waiter started out great but was trash. Most of our orders were wrong, and thankfully the runners were there. They took the best care of us. He avoided our table until it was time to pay the check. I was so upset, never got a refil on water, or checked in or anything. Because we were a large party he got his tip, but the runners who was the real mvp, fixing orders, taking drink orders and doing refills we gave her a tip and son cake from my friends birthday. I had the fish and chips but sub broccoli . It was so good and I see why people come for it. My friend didn't enjoy her chicken and switched to my meal. I was told the steak was excellent as well. Would I go back yeah but parking is expensive

Went here for lunch while visiting Chattanooga and had a great experience. Our server was great and did a fabulous job making recommendations and talking about the menu. He was very personable and attentive. We got there when they opened for lunch and they weren't busy at the time. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich and my wife got the Bruschetta chicken. My sandwich was fresh and hot with a great buffalo taste. Her chicken was full of flavor and enough for two meals. Others with us got the Philly which they said was delicious as well. Overall, we had a great lunch meal and will come back when in Chattanooga.

Excellent food and atmosphere. Our server Madison was wonderful. Look forward to returning.

Everything we had was so good! Food great! Atmosphere was good; enjoyable. Our waitress, Anna, was beyond impressive! We weren't officially her table but took our party of 5 without a blink of an eye and then was so much fun & so efficient! Get the brownie dessert but get one for the table! It's huge!!

I ordered carry out online when I was in town and I was really impressed! Staff were friendly. My food was ready on time and was piping hot. The vegetables were crisp and cooked perfectly. The salmon was seasoned just right. My favorite were the mashed potatoes! I'd come back and dine in when I'm in town again.

I made reservations about a week in advance (highly recommend), and even arriving a few minutes early at 5:00 pm, the place was already buzzing. The hostess greeted us immediately and had us seated right away. Our server was on it from the start: waters filled, drink orders taken quickly, and excellent guidance on appetizers. We went with the tomato pie, which sounds simple... but don't be fooled. The flavors are anything but basic. This is not an appetizer you politely share and move on from. It's plenty for four people, though you may find yourself quietly plotting how to secure the last bite. For our mains, we shared the warm beet salad and the beef picanha. The salad had such a great flavor pairing that even my husband, who is not a beet fan, loved it (a true culinary miracle). The picanha was incredibly flavorful and may very well be the best thing on the menu... except for the mashed potatoes. Honestly, I would go back just to order my own bowl of those mashed potatoes and call it dinner. Amazing service, outstanding food, and a great atmosphere. We will definitely be back very soon.

We tried a few beers from Five Wits and per her recommendation got the creamsicle shake as well. Solid beverage choices. The shake tasted part float part milkshake and it was absolutely delicious. Would order again. The food on the other hand was a bit eh. We ordered the Asian q burger and the mushroom melt burger and it took quite a while for them to come out and when they did they had unfortunately been left on the grill for way too long and were charred and crunchy. One set of our fries was cold and the bun to burger ratio was extremely off. Luckily, the staff agreed that our burgers were accidentally overcooked and they remade them no questions asked. The remade burgers were moist and better but still not fantastic. They were just burgers with minimal toppings on them. Not really seasoned and the flavor came from the toppings themselves. The buns were still too big for the burgers so there was a lot of extra bread and they have potential to be great but they were just average. Would have probably been a three star review but the staff and drink selection really earned the extra star. Would go back to drink and maybe snack but probably not order a burger.

Wonderful cocktail list with well balanced, well made cocktails. I loved my old fashioned and others enjoyed their drinks too. Very nice, attentive service from the servers although they brought out the oysters without telling us what was what and service was at times bumpy. The interior is nice, with it feeling casual but somewhere you could bring a date. And we enjoyed the lobster cakes which were well done, nice sauce, without overwhelming the sweetness of the lobster itself. So that was positive. Where it failed: the tuna bites on regular and not crispy rice was hard to eat. It was good but a little unruly. The halibut piccatta was VERY dry, almost bordering on inedible. Their special, which was a bento box was not great. The flavors didn't go together and their sushi eggroll had cream cheese which is very gross. Their steak frites was fine if not that memorable. All in all, I would come back for their drinks and their oysters but not sure I would come back for a full meal here.

Dogs aren't allowed inside unless they're service animals, but honestly, the outdoor space is where you want to be anyway. The patio is huge, with covered sections and outdoor heaters that kept us comfortable even when the weather turned rainy.
