    Basecamp Tacos @tiffhuangry

Make Basecamp YOUR base camp bar and restaurant! We were about to head out of town and needed a quick bite to eat that was also dog friendly - and Basecamp landed on my radar. The outdoor seating is rustic but comfortable, especially with my pup in tow. The Hoff's Hot campfire wings are FIRE, no pun intended. Not too spicy, but perfectly saucy and meaty. The Basecamp stew was a little heavy but hearty. The tacos were also solid, stuffed with meat, sauce and toppings. But is it wrong for me to say that I LOVED the fries the most? Because I couldn't stop eating them. Food is solid and prices are reasonable: I'll definitely be back next time I'm back in Chattanooga for wings, fries and a beer (I was all boozed out this trip already).

Nice outdoor seating with tasty food and friendly service. We ordered burgers with fries, they were delicious - and our server brought our dog some water which is always a nice gesture. Try them out!

Nachos that look okay, but were cold with unmelted bagged cheddar.

It's fair to say I like Base Camp's location and back patio, a lot of the seating needs to be redone as there's peeling paint and warped wood everywhere. I was careful to avoid splinters when I sat down. The food was very underwhelming. The Stew was more like a beef gravy with mushrooms, very salty, tasted like it had been simmering for weeks, and that nobody had bothered to taste it for whether it was fit to serve. Nachos were my next plate and I didn't finish them, they had some decent queso but were cold when served and were just chips with unmelted cheddar. Nothing about them said "good nachos", when I'm confident my 8 year old nephew could've popped something more satisfying out of the microwave. Also it took forever to get the food, close to 35 mins to get a beer, a bowl of soup, and nachos is pretty terrible when they're not even that busy.

    Nachos + beer!

Chill patio, good beer + food. Despite the crowd on a sunny Friday night, we were able to snatch a table on the patio. Service was quick - we got beer + the nachos to split. Beer and food were great. The food going out to other tables also looked great so we'll have to come back to try some more dishes!

Staff was so kind and very efficient. Our food was just ok, I had the Mac and cheese and it could use more cheese sauce/flavor for being labeled gourmet and was a bit cold which I was surprised by since it wasn't a super big restaurant. I did order grilled chicken but they forgot that. Cornbread had a weird taste to it, we couldn't figure out. Everyone just felt their food was on the ok side, not horrible but wouldn't choose to go here. Very small inside dining area, nice large side covered patio.

The Big Pimmen was outstanding and memorable. Service was warm and full of local tips. Great recommendations all around.

We randomly tried this place on a whim and pleasantly surprised! Friendly service and nice atmosphere. The food was surprisingly very good! They had a nice selection of local beers to try out, too. We sat outside on the patio since it was a nice day. They had really good music playing over the radio, too. Our server was very sweet and attentive. It's a short walk from the pedestrian bridge and splash pad area.

Went with a friend for dinner. We sat outside as it was a busy night. Parked in the back so there was parking nearby. The tables were long so you could do a shared space. I got the chicken nachos and my friend got the wings. The food was really good. My friend said the wings were also tasty.

In for an early lunch on a cloudy but comfortable day. First time on the North Shore and first time to this interesting restaurant. We passed through the restaurant on the way to the patio/deck which offers delicious views to the river. An expansive beer selection accompanying a comfort food menu awaits. The fifth star would require better cleaning- the food, fork and other stuff on the floor needs to not be there, but it looked like they are short staffed like every other restaurant. Our server was great, knew the beer offerings and made suggestions that were perfect for both of us. My burger was delicious and the sweet potato fries were seasoned well, but could have been a bit crispier. My wife had the quesadilla and cornbread and liked both. Maybe I should stop looking around the restaurant and focus only on the company, the food and the view. Nah. Nice spot - would definitely come again.

Amazing! The Vegetarian sliders were the best I've ever had in my life. Thank you for having vegetarian options!

We loved this place! The salads and sandwiches were very healthy, fresh, and tasty. The staff were cool and pleasant. The outdoor patio, which allows dogs, has great music in the background. And the view!

Ask the Community - Basecamp Bar & Restaurant

Is there a full bar, for cocktails or beer only?

Beers only so far as I know of. They do have a nice selection and some ciders

Is their outdoor seating dog friendly?

It looked like it from my 2nd visit.

Is this in the old North Chatt Cat space?

    I believe it is.

The beets were fresh and the goat cheese carried so much flavor. For the desserts, we got the carrot cake with pecans and chocolate cheesecake. Both were soooo good. I would get both of them again, especially the carrot cake which was so warm and moist. And the candied pecans were such a nice complement to the cake - not too sweet at all. The ambience is super nice and fresh, and our server was so sweet and engaging. The hostess as well. Everybody there was so nice and welcoming. The fried chicken came out hot, crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. You could literally see the juices coming out of the chicken, and every bite was delicious. The customer service was excellent as well. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout the meal. I also enjoyed the atmosphere. The walls were covered in dollar bills and license plates, which gave the restaurant a lot of character and made it feel like a place with stories to tell. I found myself wondering about the history behind it all.

We got to choose our table and had friendly service the whole time. Note that although the service is pretty good, the food coming out was a little slow. We got the 3 chicken tender basket, catfish basket, the smoked buffalo wings, and banana pudding. The buffalo wings were the highlight. Great smokiness coming through the wings. Just a little bit of heat from the buffalo sauce. Highly recommend. Everything else was pretty good. The chicken was tender, and good crisp to the outside, and good seasoning. The catfish was pretty good too although they were pretty thin so didn't get quite as much of the crunch to tenderness contrast that I like in a catfish. Also, their tartar sauce is too sweet. I prefer more tang on the sauce. I think the sauces run sweet as I thought the champy sauce was a little too sweet over mustard-y. Good fries with great texture and seasoning. I also got the green bean sides which were a little soft but great, depth of flavor as it was clearly cooked with pork. The potato salad was good if not memorable. The kids loved the banana pudding. A little too much of the cream and not enough pudding but otherwise worth getting. All in all a strong chicken spot to visit while in Chattanooga.

Our waitress was prompt and answered our questions. I was happy to see they had gluten free bread/buns. I ordered the Whisky and onion smash burger on a gluten free bun and it was so good I tried to replicate the topping with what I had back at the Airbnb we were staying at. When I get home I'll check out the ingredients better and give it another try. I had a side of green beans nicely seasoned with bacon as my side. We would definitely come back and try more of their menu if in the area again.
