Mojito ceviche, in the background crispy pan seared chicken.
    Hannah Marie S.

I got the mojito ceviche - it was like soup. The flavor was 3/5, redeeming quality was the sweet potato chips on top. My husband got the crispy pan seared chicken. The flavor was great, nothing spectacular but yummy. The chicken breast was itty bitty. The side salad was like the size of a dressing cup. I don't normally drink, so I asked our server what would pair well with my meal. He said "I'm not an alcoholic, so I don't know." I was so blown away I didn't say anything while we were there. I found it so tasteless and unprofessional. I would give the food another shot if it weren't for the interaction with the server. Will not be going back.

We were in town for a volleyball tournament and found this great brunch spot. The weather was perfect to sit on their patio. The food and drinks were delicious. We had the funnel cake with fried chicken and the chicken fried chicken. The confusion potatoes were really good as well. Our server was very attentive and made our experience there even better.

The tiniest portion ever maybe two spoonfuls the ceviche sampler save your $27 bucks.

I use to love coming here they had the best ceviche but this time it was such a disappointment. The atmosphere is wonderful the service even though it was busy was wonderful but the food is the most important and unfortunately, tonight was such a disappointment. I haven't been here since last year, but the portion size has gone down tremendously and nothing came with our ceviche.

Very Dives like Restaurant with hobo like decor.Service is very friendly and informative about the menu. Monkey Bread very fresh and cheesy. Maybe too cheesy and a bit salty The Trout was disappointing The Chicken chimichuri Salad was good but The chimichuri was the star. Was a bit disappointed but would try again for lunch and many steak

Such a great spot. Large outdoor space great for groups /families with kids etc. Service was attentive and the food was really good. Chefs are trained in Peru to make their ceviches --one of the best I've ever had. Bison burger was cooked perfectly and the bun they chose was a perfect compliment without too much "bread". They have kid food options and fun mixed drinks and agua Fresca choices alike. Will def be back.

State of Confusion was absolutely the vibe. The food was so good Also, the workers were so sweet they even pulled a heater closer to me, which was such a small thing but honestly made the experience feel extra thoughtful. Definitely one of those places you leave already knowing you'd come back.

Had an amazing lunch here! The Peruvian and New Orleans fusion menu is such a fun and unique concept, and the flavors were incredible. Ethan took great care of us -- he was attentive, friendly, and checked in at the perfect times without being intrusive. The service overall felt very welcoming. One of the other waitresses even came over and offered to take a photo with us after bringing our dog a bacon treat which was a really thoughtful gesture

Good, but not great. The crispy pan seared chicken had good flavor, but it could have been more crispy. And the fries had potential but were a bit on the soggy side. I think the dish sat out for a few minutes too long. The egg rolls and nacho appetizers shared with the rest of the party were good. The chicha morada with one free refill was actually my favorite part of the meal. True to the name State of Confusion, between the entirety of our party, at least two desired menu items had run out, and some orders were missed. I would return again, because I think the food has good potential, especially if they had the items that had run out.

Incredibly executed, very tasty burger and fries!

Had lunch here back to back days. First lunch was a bison burger with fries - very good, but burger was not medium as ordered, but rather medium-well (unfortunately, this negates the " perfect burger" props I gave in my first review). Fries were good, service was excellent and it's a nice chill atmosphere. Second day I had the Shrimp Poboy, which was very good but one of the sloppiest sandwiches I've ever eaten due to their splitting the role all the way through (shrimp will not stay on the bun this way). Side of red beans and rice was decent. Had a new server today and she did an excellent job.

This place was recommended and did not disappoint. I had the in house made veggie burger which was tasty. My husband had the fried chicken po'boy. However, the star of the meal was the lettuce wraps appetizer. We went between lunch and dinner hours on a week night so it was not very busy. Looks like they have a cool outside space that would have been great had it been warmer. Definitely recommend this place for a great local meal

Uber here from the airport right when they opened on a weekday. My last SOC meal was delivered to my hotel and I enjoyed it enough that I wanted to check out the restaurant. The menu is very diverse with something for anyone's taste. I ordered the potato nachos as an appetizer but Ultimately ended up being my meal. Obviously intended for sharing and I housed them by myself! They had outdoor seating with heaters or inside seating. It was a Tuesday early afternoon so the crowd was limited. From the look on my Uber drivers face when I told him where I was headed, I'm guessing they make their money on weekend and evenings. Great place and definitely a good section of Chattanooga with MSM across the street to check out whether local or visiting.

The food was incredible. We sat at the bar, and while service was good, it didn't quite match the food especially surprising for 11:30am on a Friday...

State of Confusion is quickly becoming my go-to Saturday hangout! We lucked out with seats at the outdoor bar, and as always, the bartenders were super friendly and on point. We kicked things off with the bison sliders--so good! That peppercorn mayo really made the whole bite come together. My husband went with the Skirt Steak Chimi and I got the Chicken Chimi Salad. Since we're both obsessed with chimichurri, these dishes were a total win. His was hearty and packed with flavor, and mine was fresh, filling, and delicious. Next on my list? Brunch! I keep hearing amazing things about it, and if it's anything like dinner, I know I won't be disappointed.

One time my parents and I came here after dinner for their gelato, and it was so delicious. We were all very impressed with the consistency and how smooth it was. So I've only had their gelato after all these years. This time I came for brunch with a friend on Sunday morning. It was packed and we got on the waiting list for a table. Wait time wasn't too bad actually. My friend and I both ordered the Hodgepodge Hash and I subbed the sausage for chicken sausage. Everything was absolutely amazing. I wish I had come here sooner. I loved everything about my meal. It was flavorful, dynamic, full of texture. It had that spice from the serrano peppers, crispy and flavorful potatoes, and the sauce tied it all together. I love savory breakfast, and that was it. Now I'm hungry and missing my previous meal just writing about it haha. Afterwards, we got gelato! I was pleasantly surprised that the gelato came with two scoops because I originally just wanted the coffee flavored one. So I had a scoop of Coffee + Cream and Pistachio. Our gelato was so tasty. I love anything coffee so this one was good, and the Pistachio one was nice and light. It had a subtle Pistachio creamy taste. Just as before, the gelato was smooth, creamy, and full of flavor. Service was great, our waiter was very friendly and super helpful with our food preferences. I have no complaints at all about our experience, and I love every single thing we ordered. I can't imagine a better place to spend Sunday brunch. I look forward to the next time I'm back, thank you!

Please take this review with a grain of salt. Today was probably not an exemplary day for Milk &…read moreHoney. Mother's Days are challenging, but I think where they hurt themselves the most is that they do not have a method to take reservations or even call ahead seating. Wait times were often in excess of an hour listening to other people waiting to be seated. That's a horrible experience on its face, and the management of this restaurant needs to do much much better or just close on Mother's Day. Next, we'll get to the food. I doubt it was a shining example of what they are capable of. I got the Shakshuka and it was mediocre. I'm not expecting it to be as good as what I would get in Tel Aviv, and I've had the real thing in Tel Aviv. But to be honest, the eggs came out nearly hard-boiled not poached. And the eggs are one of the stars of the show for this dish. If you don't get them right, the entire dish fails. Next will touch on the chicken and waffles. The observation from my tablemate was that it was dry and he didn't even eat it all. The same thing can be said for my other tablemate who had the chicken biscuit. The biscuit was exemplary, but the chicken was dry and actually overcooked. Then there were the omelettes, I don't believe they were impressive in any way and the people that ordered them agree. For those of us at the table that ordered coffee, it was rather strong. I normally like strong coffee, but this was borderline Turkish coffee, and there wasn't enough cream available to mask the potency. The service was also stretched thin. Our server, Destiny, did her best, but she was waiting too many tables. Having once been a waitermyself I have a special affinity for Service staff who are asked to do too much. We left her a good tip, but I'm sure she is capable of much better service than what she was allowed to deliver. Finally, the overwhelming crowd made the restaurant feel claustrophobic. The noise level was far too high, and we could barely hear one another at our table and we were sitting very close to one another. I don't place the blame on the kitchen, staff, or the wait staff, or even the greeters. This was a fail of management, plain and simple. They made no contingency plans for that many people and should have anticipated a larger crowd on Mother's Day. Management -I challenge you to do better!!! We will come back during a normal Service day to see if you can perform better, but I encourage you, as owners and managers, to stop setting your staff up for failure, which is what you did!

I was a little nervous about the basil, but I can genuinely say it was my favorite drink of my entire trip. Lastly I want to say a special thank you to the staff. I wasn't too sure where to stand when I entered off the patio side on this lovely early afternoon, but when I figured out where the hosting station was, I was welcomed and seated in a spot I would have chosen for myself. Sometimes people sit single dudes in odd spots because maybe they don't think we care about kitchen doors and dark corners, but I had a really nice table where I could soak up the retro revamped vibe. I doubled the eggs order to four and chose the bacon and added a side of stewed black beans (so glad I did). First, I started with a glass of Beaujolais, which was quite nice. When the food arrived, the first thing that struck me was that I got cold butter in its own nice tin. I can't tell you how uncommon this is, even in finer dining. Usually, you get olive oil instead of butter, and if you ask for butter, it's in one of those wrappers. This was the real thing, not whipped, and I didn't have to ask specially for it. The eggs were delicate and seasoned beautifully, and the bacon was hearty and high-end and crispy. The grits are unbelievable, and the stewed beans are homemade and subtle, smooth as butter. I was amazed; the sides were really at the forefront. The kitchen isn't fast, so don't be in a hurry when you're here. Even the glass of wine took a few, and it was not busy. But it's also a nice place to relax and soak up the ambience, either indoors or out. And I appreciated that the food was so well made that I didn't mind the wait. Hats off to Stafford, who was my server. She checked up on me frequently. She was efficient and personable. They are lucky to have her! I had a beautifully crafted cortado espresso at the end, served traditionally with the fizzy water on the side. This is my favorite espresso as it is a strong pour but has just a bit of hot milk at the top to cut the acidity. It was excellent. Frankly, I was impressed they even knew what it was, so if you're just getting coffee, they'll also be the right place. I obviously recommend this place for its food, ambience, service. It was a treat and I hope to go back next time I'm in town.

I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough (they also offer gluten-free and multigrain) with cashew cheese and a side of chili. I also got a beet juice, a lemon lavender muffin, chia seed pudding, and a decaf oat milk latte. The sandwich was pretty good. The bread seemed really fresh and I enjoyed the cashew cheese. The side of chili had a slight twist that elevated it above most regular chili recipes. It was good, but had a little too much corn for my taste personally. The beet juice was delicious and a generous portion. The desserts were just okay, but I appreciated that they weren't overly sweet and didn't have any weird ingredients. Honestly, it's just so nice knowing your food has no weird ingredients and everything is organic! The only downside was the coffee. Honestly, it was probably one of the worst I've ever had.
