What an amazing experience....came here for lunch on a friday afternoon. Walked in, was greeted immediately and sat in a booth immediately. The ambiance of the restaurant is bright and welcoming. Decor of a restaurant that loves its brand. The food was equally if not better than the environment. Ordered a margarita and the goat cheese fondue to start and it was better than I could have expected. For my main dish I ordered the French onion burger. Delicious but very messy. The icing on the " whiskey cake" (which I also had and it was to die for) was Valerie my server. She is not only an amazing server but an incredible person. The service I got from her will be hard to top. If the food didnt make me come back she sure would. You do a lot of things right at this restaurant but having her there is probably the best that you provide. Thank you for a great experience and I can't wait to come back read more

We had a family brunch today at Whiskey Cake in Plano. Tiani was our server and she was amazing. She was prompt, attentive and very friendly. We all really enjoyed our meals. My husband loved his crab Benedict, my son loved his breakfast sandwich, one granddaughter loved her steak and egg bowl, and other loved her burger. My grandson said the pancakes were so fluffy and good. I had the fish and chips! It was delicious and SO big, I could only eat a third. Tomorrow my husband and I will split the rest. We had the whiskey cake with ice cream! Yummy! It was outstanding!!! Definitely a great choice for brunch. We will be back again soon. read more

Some of my colleagues and I had eaten at the sister company restaurant Sixty Vines, had heard about Whiskey Cake through the grapevine, and decided to go for lunch. We started by sharing the Thai BBQ Duck Wings along with some Fried Green Tomatoes, which were absolutely tasty, to prepare our tastebuds for our entrees. Okay, I must admit that I thought it read "Thai BBQ Chicken Wings". So, to my surprise, when they came out, I had to grab the menu again and saw I had misread what I ordered. I guess I was busy running my mouth. Nevertheless, they were good. Then I ordered the Fish' N' Chips, which I had to take half home because the fish was so big. It was seasoned just right with just the right amount of crunch. I'm glad we went. However, I'm so mad that I did not get a slice of the "Whiskey Cake" the next time. read more

Yum! Went with a big group of people. They won't t seat you until half of the part is there. I ordered the salmon with potatoes in a leak broth. Delicious! Just wish there had a few more potatoes. I almost licked the bowl clean. It goes without saying that the whiskey cake was ah-mazing. read more

It has a good ambiance. It is decorated nicely. The hostess and waitress served us well. The price for a dinner and soft drinks for two can easily total over $50. The food was delicious. I did not like the fact that the tipping percentage was also applied to the taxes as well as the bill. The minimum tip percentage offered on the hand held payment device was 22%. That maybe ok with some but it went over the top for me. read more

Didn't know what to expect still getting used to parking lot restaurants here in Tx but we live real close so we tried it nothing like I was expecting a warm well appointed entrance with a great view of the bar nice distinctly separate areas outdoor, bar nice booths and very unique table lighting" sorry no photos of the lights you will have to go to see them " but on to the food we were greeted by a very knowledgeable waiter who promptly had water and Iced tea at the table and my ice tea never seemed to get low hmmm? Bu as I say on to the food !!! My wife had the grilled shrimp and pasta very well done and a take away portion to boot. We had a large group for Whiskey Cake. They wouldn't seat us until most of our party arrived. I wonder why that is because if the table is set up already, why not just seat us? Anyway, we all had a good time. The place was packed and the servers still came around often. I had the salad with fried chicken and it was fantastic! The chicken was extremely tender and perfectly crispy. The yogurt vinaigrette dressing was amazing. I want to try to replicate that at home. read more

---- Critics Review ----- Go!!! Blew me away!! I've heard about this place for over a year... but it's a bit of a drive for me - and totally worth it! I'll be a regular now. Awesome experience at every turn!! Highend Whiskies & Bourbons: - Build your own flight: 4 bourbons out of 5 pages of selections. Awesome!!! My picks: I only saw 1 I wanted to try that I didn't remember.... - Larceny Interesting. Has a somewhat enjoyable flavor at the start, but as it lingers in the pallet, it dissipates fast. Very light on the flavor profile almost muted. No heat in the pallet. Gentle burn in the finish. Boring. (3 out of 10) The manager (Andre - great guy!) came over initially to help me make selections. I told him what I like (low proof, flavor forward, corn / bit sweeter or wheat). And asked him to pick the other 3. - Hancocks Reserve Excellent. Beautiful flavor profile with a few unique aspects. Balanced. Gentle warming, smooth finish. 9 out of 10. - Baker's 7yr Absolutely delicious. Has a hint of sweetness on the nose, but not on the pallet. Very warm going down however it has a good bit of heat in the finish (upper 90's). 7 out of 10. - Kings Country (NY) Almost enjoyable, but the flavors are off. Has absolutely no heat of any kind. Not in the palette or the finish - zero heat. (Yuck) 0 out of 10. Andre came back later and asked how I liked everything. I let him read my notes and strangely he apologized for the 2 I didn't like. I told him it's ok - I enjoyed trying everything. About 10 minutes later he surprised me with a new sample and would not tell me what it was. He and the bartenders had been tasting samples to find something I would love. (Incredible VIP service to a nobody 1st timer.) It blew me away!!! - Mellow Corn Best of the group! Incredibly wonderful flavors that morph and change in the pallet during the finish. Barely detectable heat on the pallet, and a gentle warming in the finish. Absolutely enjoyable. 10 out of 10. (A mash of at least 80 percent corn and aged for four years in a once-used Bourbon barrel. 100 proof, drinks like 80 proof.) Totally ugly label from 1945. GET ONE!! I am!! Food: Excellent! THE DUTCH: Slow braised beef brisket, smoked gouda, caramelized onions & peppers, garlic aioli, bolillo roll. BLEW ME AWAY!! Was 10x better than I expected and I loved it. No brainer - 10 out of 10! Fries: Super salty. Next time I'll ask for no salt. I asked for extra crispy (to snap and be crunchy)... but they were normal and almost limpy. They tasted ok but not for me. Ketchup = gross / more like cocktail sauce for chilled shrimp. (0 out of 10.) I asked for regular ketchup, which they have - and it helped mask the salt and made it more enjoyable. (Definitely ask for normal ketchup!!) Fish & Chips: Excellent. Large portion and perfectly cooked. Crunchy, fully cooked and very moist. 10 out of 10. Server = Emma: Definitely ask for a table in her section. Very happy and it's her mission to be sure you are more than pleased. We asked for salt and ketchup... but it was a packed day and she forgot. As she passed by, she glanced at us and realized she had forgotten. I observed her going around the corner beating herself up for forgetting. I was so impressed with her response I complimented her on it and still gave 20% tip (no penalty!) I'll wait 30 minutes to be in her section next time. She is the best! Manager = Andre A true professional in the food business. I observed him with staff and others. If I owned a restaurant - I would steal him away! Please say hi if you see him. Atmosphere: Perfect. I could hang out there for hours and not even realize it. No one rushed us out on a packed day, it was a gentle pace of service and we had to ask for the check - which to me is the best of the best in practice. (I hate when I'm given a bill before we are ready to leave - tells me 'time is up - get out!') Overall: 10 out of 10.... And I don't give that often (as you followers know). I am telling my personal friends to go - and with me so I can introduce them to Emma & Andre. Can't wait to go back! read more

We ate at the Irvine Texas location Karolina was amazing she explained the entire concept about the whiskey, cake and how it originated and how they built the restaurant around the cake. It is truly an amazing place to go. The food was exceptional and the service was even better than that that's off to you whiskey cake. I don't hand out 5 stars often, but Whiskey Cake absolutely earned it. I ordered the Prime Rib & Gouda Stack--shaved prime rib, gouda, horseradish cream, arugula, pickled onions, marinated tomato, all on a local jalapeño-cheddar sourdough--and let me tell you, this sandwich is top tier. Every bite was packed with flavor, the bread had just the right crunch, and the balance of the creamy gouda with that little kick from the jalapeño bread was perfection. Kevin was our server and deserves a special shoutout. He was knowledgeable about the menu, had great recommendations, and honestly made the whole experience even better. Attentive, friendly, and just a joy to have. For dessert, we couldn't skip their signature Whiskey Cake (because how could you not order the namesake?). Served warm with sweet cream--whew --it was rich, nutty, and melt-in-your-mouth good. Definitely worth saving room for. Between the amazing food, cozy atmosphere, and stellar service, Whiskey Cake is a spot I'll be coming back to again and again. read more

Hmm..did they change the menu here? We visited the Plano location recently and felt as if there was about half of the menu options that we once knew. I remember there used to be a Bloody Mary bar where you built it yourself. Not sure if that exists anymore and we visited on a weekend. I ordered the traditional which came with chicken sausage, sourdough toast, marbled bacon, eggs, and potatoes. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles which weren't bad. The host team and some of the staff seemed a bit exhausted and not the friendliest to interact with. Hoping it was just the rush and they had a better day after we left. read more

I have always wanted to come here so I finally did. Joseph was our server and he gave us a good rundown of the menu since we were first timers. We got the goat cheese fondue and the fried green tomatoes to start. I loved the tomatoes and my friend loved the fondue. I'm a big Whiskey guy so I got the Old Forester Whiskey flight. The flight was amazing with 4 different whiskeys to try. I ordered the fish and chips and the fish was so huge. It was hot and crispy and the vinegar paired deliciously with it. I tasted the porkchop my friend got and it was cooked perfectly. Couldn't leave here without trying the Whiskey Cake. Farm-to-table meets comfort food bliss Whiskey Cake nailed it. From the first bite to the last crumb of their namesake dessert, everything tasted fresh, thoughtful, and full of flavor. We , a family of four met after a long time & were happy to be there. We ordered 3 guava gimlets and 1 rum punch. The food we ordered was fish& chips, rooster royale, French onions burger & chicken and waffle. We had the whisky cake to complete our meal. I had problem with the fries because they tasted burnt so I didn't eat it and also I was not happy with the whisky cake because it was cut piece and not like the previous individual cake they usually served. Had one of the best Old Fashions at Whiskey Cake. Went with a large group so we had a private-ish room to the side. The food there was good, and the ambiance pretty festive. There seemed to be a lot of other group type gatherings there as well (we were there on a weekday evening). Overall great place to meet as a group and have some fun times eating and drinking in the Dallas area. read more

This restaurant was exceptional. Start to finish - the drinks were amazing, and our table had a selection of scotch flights , old fashioned, and cocktails. Let's start with dessert! You HAVE to get the Whiskey Cake! This cake is so delicious and rich you can easily share it with 4! We ordered the Smoked Chopped Chicken Salad. Very good, the dressing set it apart from a salad you would make at home. The Shrimp and Grits. Just ok- shrimp was delicious and the grits good. Felt like the rest was an afterthought. The cherry tomatoes were whole and barely warm, the sauce way too sweet for the dish. The Deviled eggs were perfection! Our server was nice. We just ate @ Whiskey Cake Plano & the table next to us kept placing their plates on the ground allowing their dog to "clean" their plates (3 plates in total were placed on the ground for their dog). We did ask our server about this & his reponse was they couldn't do anything about it I'm sure the health department would not approve of this practice! read more

You know I really do enjoy this place; this is my second time coming here and it was just as good as the first time. Love the concept and the food is always tasty. I came for lunch with a girlfriend and we ordered a few appetizers and I got the fish and chips and it was all very nicely prepared. Service was great; we did have to sit outside because of lunch rush hour; but it was fine. Definitely want to check out their brunch. read more

After a long day of traveling just looking for a good meal. After looking at Yelp reviews and pictures Whiskey Cake was the first choice. Once our party arrived we were seated pretty quick. Loved the atmosphere! Tables and seating were very spacious. Since this was our first time our waiter explained the menu and gave several recommendations, and they lived up to the expectations. I genuinely wish I could give this place zero stars every time I've been there. I've had a terrible experience. The service sucks. I came here for late lunch a few weeks ago, the vibe was cool felt like a western bar feel. We started off with the Brussels sprouts and let me tell you they were amazing and the chilli. I ordered the steak and fries and those were a disappointment it was dry. I would give those a 4/10, my wife got a burger that was decent. 7/10 but the star player was the cake for dessert. This is a resubmission as the original review was removed. I preface with, the wait staff were fantastic. The food and everyone else -- not. Hostesses and managers get two thumbs down. I give it a two stars because my review is based upon our experience as a party of nearly 30 which started bad and got worse. But - I've seen too many good reviews to write them off entirely. Instead, I will give it another shot, just myself and my wife, then decide. It was my wife's birthday. We reserved seating for 25 a month in advance. We followed up to ensure our reservations were booked. The first confirmation call, they had no record of our reservation. We re-booked. We followed up a week later, just in case. They had our reservation, but at the wrong time -- and the time we set was no longer available... so we changed our arrival time to fit their schedule - only to learn reservations this time of day required us to guarantee each of our guests would purchase a minimum of $50 in food and drinks. WTF, really? On party day, a group of us arrive together, hostess tells us we can't go to our seats until 3/4 of the party arrives. OK, I get it, they make their $$ when they have butts in seats, ordering, eating and leaving to make room for the next customers. But 15 guests were present ordering drinks and appetizers while waiting. So we're waiting for everyone else -- and of course they're on Filipino time. Now the hostess starts in with, "We can't hold your seating more than 15 minutes. If the rest of your party doesn't arrive in the next 10 minutes I'll have to give your seating to other guests." Yeah, OK - send a manager. Manager strolls over and says it's out of their hands, it's policy. Somehow 3 more arrive (making it 75% of our party) with moments to spare. We grab the hostess and stampede to our tables. Within 60 seconds they start rushing us to order. We get settled in a manager introduces our wait staff. They were great. Patient, helpful and attentive. I spoke with one, saying we just arrived and it will be a few minutes before we're ready to place any orders. She completely understood. Ten-ish minutes in, we place our orders and we wait, and wait, and wait some more. Finally food starts arriving. Some burnt, some not cooked through, some were both. I didn't keep exact count, but a good number of plates were sent back to the kitchen. Myself, I had one of their burgers along with a chicken and kale salad. I liked the salad. The burger looked fantastic but was over-cooked and bone dry. My wife had rotisserie chicken which she ate some and left the rest for take home. I tried it and it was chicken. Nothing special. An hour in, everyone has their food and having a good time. Loud, laughing, taking photos. The wait staff had smoothed things over. Until it came time to pay up, nearly every ticket was incorrect. To be fair, almost no-one was in their original seat and couples who were at that end of the tables are now here and there. Ultimately, instead of remaking every ticket, we figured out which items were never ordered and the wait staff made the corrections. Everything else we figured out who had what, who were missing items and who were paying for extra stuff they didn't order -- agreeing to make good our next time out. Will I return? If as a party of more than 4 -- not on your life. But I will give 'em another shot, just myself and my wife, then decide. read more

2 thumbs up and if I had a third, I would give it. The concept was cute and unique. Yes, a grown man just said "cute" to describe a restaurant. All the male servers had their white shirt, blue jeans, suspenders, and toolbelts as their apron; and the female servers had their white shirt, blue jeans, suspenders, and quilted aprons. You will find bales of hay, barrels, and paddles to hold their menu. Like I said, "cute and unique." The atmosphere was definitely geared towards a mid to high income family. I'm not a drinker but with the space allotted to the bar, I'm assuming they are trying to attract the sports-bar scene individuals. They did a good job in creating enough space for different outings from family night out to hang out with your friend nights to romantic dinners. My friends and I were served by Smeth (I believe that's how you spell his name). He was a fantastic server and great at recommending dishes to us. With his help, we ordered six plates. Appetizer: ... Thai Barbecue Duck Wings - The duck was astounding. The protein was juicy and not too greasy. It was just right. The sauce was sweet and savory. Main Course: ... Basic Burger - One of the best "basic" burgers I have eaten is in Austin, Texas at a restaurant named Shady Grove. The thing that sets them apart from all the other burger joints in Austin is their focus on the protein itself and Whiskey Cake did the meat justice. Their basic burger is right up there with Shady Grove. ... Wood Grilled Salmon - You can never go wrong with a nice wood-grilled salmon and they did well. They let the protein do the talking and it sure did talk. It was cook just right with a right - not too dry and not too moist. What really elevated the flavor of the salmon was the salsa verde and sweet corn maque choux. ... Pork Brisket - This was the majority's favorite dish. When you think of a "brisket," you think of a nice charred smokey coat with a juicy center, but Whiskey Cake changed that image quickly. Their pork brisket looks like a perfectly grilled tenderloin but tastes like a brisket. You just have to try it to know what I'm talking about. The side had a good kick to it that balanced the protein. ... Grilled Tritip and Chimmichurri - The tritip was probably the best plated dish of them all and it tastes good as it looks. The protein had a nice char cooked to perfection. I would personally rate this one as my favorite dish but everyone has different palates and I'm biased towards cows. Dessert: ... Whiskey Cake - As a group, we were reluctant on getting dessert at the restaurant because we were planning on getting ice cream afterwards; but Smeth recommended it and I couldn't pass up on it. The bottom line is "if you leave this restaurant without trying what the restaurant is named after, you are missing out on who they are." All the flavors in this dessert is very balanced and compliments each other very well. Bottom line: My friends and I will be visiting this place often as long as they keep up the great work. I have visited Whiskey Cake four times total. The food is good although it does stray from the menu. However, if the first impression is suppose to be your best this place is going to fail. Their hostess are the worst! For example, I visited Sunday morning before 10:00 they made us wait without any explanation as to why the entire restaurant was empty but we had to wait 30 minutes. When they decided to sit us the one who showed us to our table had extremely oily black long hair and kept using her hands to push it back (gross) and they handed us our menus and she never once smiled. I felt like we were a huge inconvenience to this girl. On Friday night, I wanted to sit on a patio and enjoy a few drinks and dinner so we decided to try WC again. We got there around 6:00 p.m. I asked for a patio the hostess told me 25 minutes so we sat at the bar and had one drink. At this point the restaurant was not very busy at all. After, 30 minutes the place started top get packed, I went to the host stand to ask when we would be seated the blonde hostess interrupted me and said that we would have a seat when it is ready. So we waited another 45 minutes (are you kidding me) finally my boyfriend just went up there to say we wanted any table it didn't matter where (we were very hungry at this point) so we then had to wait another 15 minutes ( I was very upset) I walked over to the patio and notice that there were four empty tables so I walked over to the host and asked if we could sit there. She rolled her eyes so far back into her head and sighed and said they were reserved for a big party. (we had gotten there before the big party had made reservations) We ended up having to sit inside the restaurant.The hostess were all wearing open toed shoes and their toes were disgusting. ( I started to lose my appetite at this point) Marcie was our server and she did well, but we were already upset with the lack of service the hostess had displayed. The service is usually good when we finally get to our table; like I said I have visited this place four times. Brunch is good. I have never had chicken and waffles so I tried it here. They tasted good. I also tried their fried green tomato BLT that is a great twist to an ordinary sandwich. The drinks are expensive I had the afternoon delight and it was $9 and it was maybe four gulps worth the blood orange gimlet is good but the flavor varies a lot form bartender to bartender. We stopped into Whiskey Cake for the second time yesterday and let me tell you, this place is already rockin. Friday night, my wife and I survived our wait with drinks from a friendly cocktail waitress that were just perfectly balanced. My wife's house margarita was like none other that I've tasted, complete with a piece of house-made beef jerky, and the manhatten I had was the best I've ever tasted. This place is about quality all the way down to the cherries at the bar. I don't see a seat in the house that I wouldn't mind sitting at. The whole place has a great comfortable feel to it, and the mood lighting from the reproduction edison bulbs they have is a really unique touch. The wife was really quite impressed. For dinner, we started with the grilled mussels and deviled eggs. We could really tell that the chefs were proud of the food they were serving. It's really just about the little things that show what kind of a place you're in. I couldn't disagree more with those that dislike the eggs- they were served with smoked salmon, fried capers, and finely diced onion and chives. If I could do it as well, I'd make them at home. The broth that the mussels were served in was perfectly buttery, with pieces of ham, fresh tomatoes, and swiss chard to accompany it. At a whole pound, I could almost make a meal out of them. We ate our entrees of red fish and cut sirloin almost too quickly! Like others have said before, the steak at this place is to die for. My wife's grilled fish, recommended by our waitress, came with orzo, spinach, and parmesan and was perfectly seasoned and melt in your mouth good. We haven't had any room for dessert yet- though we saw the table next to us being served a sort of creme brulee that was actually lit on fire table side which was really impressive. We came here for a friend's bday party and as we first stepped into the restaurant, I already fell in love with the place. Besides it being a bit TOO dim for me - I loved the decor and the small lights they had for each table. I also liked how open the bar area and seating was arranged and the multiple TVs to watch all the sports action. We ordered a couple of things and tried other people's dishes: Mesquite grilled mussles, 3 little Pigs, Hot chicken n cheese melt, and the Mesquite grilled redfish. I'd have to say the mussles was my favorite and the 3 little pigs were also super delicious. The only thing I didn't like about the chicken n cheese melt was the dill havarti. And the redfish was okay, but a bit too buttery (which made it taste too greasy). And of course for dessert, we had to order the Whiskey cake. It was aaaamazing! Especially with the white sauce and the pecans - it was a party in your mouth. Definitely have to save room for this dessert! [We also ordered the Butterscotch Bourbon Creme Brulee - I don't like bourbon so I really didn't like this dessert. If it was just a regular butterscotch creme brulee, I think I would have enjoyed it.] The service was GREAT - we had a party of about 20 people and we had 4-5 servers waiting on our table. We got our orders right away, got our water and our glass was never empty - our food came out quicker than we thought and they always came back to make sure we were doing okay. Whiskey Cake is hands down one of my favorite spots in DFW. I've been for dinner plenty of times and always left impressed, but brunch has its own unique vibe and offerings that make it just as memorable. I recently went for brunch, and our server Jake truly elevated the experience. You could tell he loves working there. He had a genuine enthusiasm for both the food and the bourbon selection, giving us spot-on recommendations that made each course special. His detailed knowledge added a level of insight that I don't often experience dining out. We started with the goat cheese fondue, which was surprisingly perfect for brunch. It's a little different than your usual brunch appetizers, but I'd highly recommend it. It was creamy, tangy, and just delicious. Jake then suggested the Cold Fashioned, which is now an absolute must for me. Made with coffee-infused Buffalo Trace and topped with whipped cream prepared right at the table, it was the perfect blend of coffee and bourbon flavors. It's a drink that really wakes you up and sets the tone for a great meal. For my entree, I had the Short Rib Hash, and it did not disappoint. The short rib was tender, the flavors well-balanced, and it was just the right portion to be filling without being overly heavy. While I still lean slightly towards their dinner menu as my personal favorite, I've never had a meal at Whiskey Cake that wasn't top notch. We stopped in Whiskey Cake on Saturday night for the first time and were greeted by a friendly staff with a 20 min wait, which turned out to be perfect time for one specialty drink from the bar. Finally a trendy upscale grill/lounge in Plano with a downtown Dallas feel. The specialty drinks were very unique and equally delicious, my wife tried 3 different ones throughout the evening. There are several chairs and sitting areas around the bar area with unique eclectic furniture and decor. Very nice atmosphere and clientele. We were seated as soon as our other party arrived. The menu was well rounded with something for everyone. We started off with some kick ass appetizers called "3 Little Pigs" and Crab cake, always a fav! Both were superb! I ordered the Chicken Melt and my wife ordered the bone in pork chop. The food was prepared from scratch and served within 20 min of ordering which was nice. Her pork chop looked as good as it taste, would highly recommend trying. My melt was great and there was more than enough food for the whole table. Visited Whiskey Cake when I was in Texas for work and goddamn IS THIS PLACE AH-MAZING. I think the coolest thing about Whiskey Cake is their dedication to 'farm-fresh comfort food.' They source their ingredients straight from the farm so it's really great to know that their stuff is locally-sourced. Definitely want to go back to try their brunch and lunch since I only got to try some of their dinner items. I got the OMG (Onion, Mushroom, and Goodness) Burger and simply put - it was one of the best burgers that I've ever had. I also had their 3 Little Pigs - such a cute and totally fitting name for those adorable looking (and super delicious) slow roasted pork sliders. The goat cheese fondue was a great starter as well... and I don't even fux with goat cheese but I do now! It was served with some grilled sourdough (one of my fave types of bread), Greek olives, and roasted tomatoes. Atmosphere: 3 to 4 stars Food: 3 to 4 stars Service: 4 stars The decor is farmhouse bar basically. It was extremely rowdy and chaotic right when you walk in the restaurant. The 3 little pigs, mussels, and shishito peppers as appetizers and they were all good. We had the rotisserie farm bird, tenderloin, and lobster rolls for the dinner entree. The only compliant is that the tenderloin is too tough even thought I ordered medium ware. Our server raved about their whiskey cake for almost 5 mins saying how it was the best desert in D Magazine. I usually don't care what foodies or critics say about how good the food is. I am my own critic! Well the whiskey cake was AMAZING!! My favorite thing on the menu!! Must try!! Service was average to above average! I do however have something to say about their uniforms. The servers all wore a white tshirt with suspenders and jeans. I really don't know how anybody couldn't fall in love with this place. I came in the 1st time in August with my girlfriend and we had a great time out on the patio on a Saturday night. It was really busy that night and the manager (Scott) took great care of us. We returned last week to come check it out again and I can safely say that this is hands down still my favorite restaurant. Scott the manager was at the front door when we came in and he immediately recognized us and sat us at our spot on the patio. The server was phenomenal as well. Not only did the server know all about my favorite bourbon, she also suggested that I try it with an ice ball. I had no idea what she was talking about. A minute later she came out with this giant copper press looking thing and presto blammo, I'm enjoying Maker's 46 on the rox like I've never had it before. Loved the pork chop and my gf's redfish was killer (great recommendations from our server). My gf was so impressed with everything that she plans to book her company Christmas party there. read more

The food was absolutely outstanding -- the goat cheese fondue was rich, creamy, and honestly one of the best starters I've ever had. The hummus was incredibly fresh with the perfect texture and flavor, served with warm, perfectly seasoned pita. Every dish had that signature Whiskey Cake quality where you can taste the care and craft behind it. But what truly made the experience unforgettable was our server, Chris. Over-the-top amazing doesn't even begin to describe him. His attention to detail was unreal -- noticing the little things before we even thought to ask, checking in at just the right times, and making sure our family felt welcomed and taken care of the entire visit. You can tell he genuinely cares about giving people a great experience. We had an incredible time, and I loved bringing my family here. My son brought his car into Quirk Works in Quincy for auto body repair right before Memorial Day. We figure a few 2-3 weeks for repair, boy were we wrong. After 3 weeks he calls to check on progress and they tell him they're waiting for parts and there was a lot of damage. Not really, but it's their excuse for taking a very long time. Plus, No one calls him to say there is a delay. A week later he calls back and gets the same answer, waiting for parts. We're now angry that it's taking this long and we're at a month. Every week he calls and gets the same response. We're now at 10 weeks for auto repair. Finally, he sends an email to the president of Quirk and tells him what's going on. Within a few days he gets a call from the body shop telling him we have a loaner car until the car is finished. Surprisingly, the car is done the next week. I could go on and give more details but it would turn into a novel. STAY AWAY FROM QUIRK, if you want your repair done in a timely manner. read more

This is one of those rare gems you find tucked away next to all the corporate cookie cutter BS dallas is known for like Darden and Yum!brands. The decor was awesome, they use retro carbon filament bulbs to light the place (circa 1890's) I simply enjoyed the fact that there was fresh rosemary instead of flowers adorning the tables. Everything is rustic, yet somehow refined. I shat brix at the epic whiskey menu with hand labled casks full of goodness. I had to also appreciate the mixology and how they make all thier mixers themselves using fresh ingredients. Thier food seemed to follow the same model. I also loved how this is one of those places with a proper chef and an ever-changing menu absent at those big corporate places. The food seems to be prepared fresh to order, using fresh local ingredients. Combined with the decor and local southern flavors I would say its a perfect place to take a guest from out of town. Dont believe the hype. Drove about 30 minutes to try them for lunch as i missed them my last visit. Hostess couldnt understand we just wanted a table for 2. Then took us to a table that someine was going to be moving to so we got another table. Our server Farrah was nice. When i asked what was good, she gave me all her faves. I dontlike cheese so just opted to try a few different things. *Farm salad.. vibrant and good dressing. *Deviled eggs...blah. especially when you find egg shells in them. Told our server and she apologized and we just had her take them away. No new eggs, not off our bill, we left 3 pieces there too. *fried green tomatoes...no taste. Dipping sauce was decent but nothing that stood out. * turkey burger...you can get this anywhere. The chips it came with were great. *had ti try the whiskey cake...good presentation, good flavor. Whiskey Cake is literally the best thing in the menu on my book. I really love all the concepts they have thrown together and so far everytime I've come here, whether it would be for brunch, lunch or dinner; it has always been great. I've had several opportunities to write a review but with me procrastinating and each time I go back, I get something different and the experience becomes better than it was before. I've had the deviled eggs as an appetizer and they were simple yet delicious. I also had the chicken and cheese melt which was surprisingly delicious with Pesto and Havarti making it a really great sandwich. Now, I suggest you make a reservation for a big party or send someone over there ahead of time because it's a wait to get seated on prime evenings or even during brunch. As for the cocktails, I'm like an old English lady and loving on Pimm's so I order the Pimm's Cup drink. Finish up with Whiskey Cake. It's so worth it. read more

DANG.... this place ROCKS!!! my friends and i LOVE IT! it was a fresh fun spirited tavern for drinking and hanging out with friends, and in NO way was there the overwhelming feeling of a dance party lounge (puke). Finally a top quality non-chain restaurant in the Plano/Frisco area. Whiskey Cake is fantastic! Plan B Group has done an extremely tasteful redesign of the old Plano Tavern. It is inviting and makes you feel comfortable the minute you open the front door and step inside. Each time that I've eaten here the hostess has been receptive and the wait staff has been very informative. My hats off to the manager Kevin G. who obviously does a great job of hiring and training the wait staff and bar staff. Each item I have had, the Veggie Stack, the Smoked Turkey Stack, the Chicken Salad Sandwich and the Whiskey Cake have been uniquely created and were very fresh. The food is excellent! Everything is fresh. Farm to the table. We all had different meals and everyone was very satisfied. I had the Chicken & cheese melt minus the cheese and it was amazing. The the chicken was so moist and flavorful. The portions are quite large. Someone else had the "OMG" burger. The name says it all. The burger was huge! It was very good. It had great flavor. The pulled pork sandwich has a bit of a kick to it but once again very flavorful. All of our meals came with a side of homemade potato chips. Delicious! The meals are huge but you have to save room for the Whiskey Cake. It is so yummy! My 11 year old loved it and he isn't much of a cake fan. It is Delicious!! We split one among 4 people. Where to begin...? This place is awesome. We went there for Sunday Brunch and left extremely satisfied. Starting with the Bloody Mary bar, spicy or not, with a myriad of different ingredients including homemade pickles and spicy peppers, beans, garlic, and onions and what seemed to be beef jerky they make as well. For the meal I had chicken and waffles and my girlfriend had the frittata. Afterwards we were so stuffed with delicious food. Our waitress, Bird (I know, but really) was very attentive and knowledgable too. She told us that they only use local, Texas grown produce and they even have a spice garden that the bartenders use to garnish the drinks. Overall, I wanted to go back for dinner. The six of us said that it was our last time! The only positive is that it is a good location and nice environment.

I also tried a dessert for the first time- they call them small indulgences. I tried a lemon blueberry cake. It's about 6 bites, which is perfect for an after dinner sweet for me! The whole menu is calorie mindful offering all dishes below 595 calories. This is a great practice and was not noticeable at all, unless you read the menu carefully! Our family visits here a couple times a year and we will definitely return for more seasonal yums in the fall! Keep in mind parking is hard in this area. You…read morehave to consider that when selecting a steakhouse, being a chain means that there probably won't be a bespoke wine list, and that the dishes are going to be postured for a specific audience versus adventurous and cutting edge. It's situated on the first floor of the very nicely appointed Legacy Tower, home of a UBS office. The adjacent parking garage may be utilized and validated within. I very much prefer this location for business lunches, as it's usually fairly empty at those hours, making it perfect for serious conversations without loud music or scores of other patrons banging their steel implements. The wine list, like I mentioned previously, is fairly mundane; especially for a steakhouse. Consisting mostly of basic Californian offerings, but not even sophisticated enough to offer something like a Brewer-Clifton "3-d" Chardonnay. For many people that wouldn't be an issue, but it would give me some room for pause when planning a more grandiose event. I was still able to find some reasonably priced gems within, but there really wasn't anything special. Though they do offer 100 wines by the glass, which is actually a great way to try out wines that you aren't complete sure of. Beef carpaccio is decent, but made in a somewhat strange manner. To be fair it's a hard dish to make look appetizing, and they do appear to use good quality meat for it, however I do think it could be taken up a few notches. It's served alongside parmesan crusted crostinis. These little things are quite enjoyable, and of course the typical capers and pseudo dijonnaise. The core steaks are USDA Prime as you might expect, for lunch I usually opt for a filet as I'm not trying to fly into a midafternoon stupor. Usually cooked to specification. The other more spendy options are quite good, bone-in fillet, dry-aged ribeye etc. Sides are of course extra, and in my experience have been up to snuff, especially the Fleming's potatoes (au gratin). Service is always in line with what is customary for a steakhouse. Like I prefaced in the intro, it is ultimately a national chain, and it certainly ranks in the top 3 of it's respective category. I don't know that it's better than it's closest competitor, Ruth's Chris, as they approach beef somewhat differently and the ambiance is rigid formality versus approachably upscale. In any case, this is a good choice, and you can sometimes find deals on Bloomin' Brand gift cards which you can redeem here.
