This place is my new favorite spot. This place is a vibe, especially right now with the Fifa cup going on in Arlington. Located right on the street, it's a good spot to stop for a bite to eat and drink right there in the historic downtown Plano. They even source their meat from the local Ye Ole Butcher Shop that is right down the street. I opted for the McNeal's classic burger. Those burger patties are amazing. If you have never had one and are a burger lover, stop by here sometime or the butcher shop itself. The side of fries here are crisp, not soggy or flavorless. Definitely has the pub feel going on. If I lived closer I would probably call this place home. I have had different servers the times I have been, and the service has been friendly and spot on. We had a fantastic first time experience here. Our waiter Josh was friendly and informative. The manager came over and talked to us and even offered a free beer. Look it's a bar - most people leaving reviews are not sober when they eat here. We went last night (Thursday 4/9) to support a local musician and I had my kids with me so I didn't drink. I wish I did though because that's the only way to stomach the prices and service. Spinach artichoke dip was as other reviews stated: Cold, canned and not good. Had that tinny taste from the canned spinach. Chicken tenders were cooked in old oil that should be changed out. Shepherd's pie was absolutely disgusting- meat had soured and was cold as the day is long. I couldn't ask for it to be remade because my waitress never came back to touch the table. I had a coupon that brought the bill down to $50 thank god, but it wasn't worth 5 cents. Won't be back. One and done. Only go here to get snookerfaced people! read more

Met a friend to watch college football here on a Saturday. Decor gives Irish pub vibes and they have a lot of room to hang out in. Service was great. Crowd watching football were friendly. My wife and I stopped in after dinner at a nearby restaurant for one beer and some shuffleboard. The service was great and shuffleboard is a fun bar game so overall I would recommend McNeal's for those in the area. I am hoping it was just the day/time we came (Saturday afternoon) but the service was nonexistent unless you sat at the bar...despite the place being not crowded. We sat out on the patio for about 20 minutes before realizing that if you wanted to be acknowledged just sit at the bar. The food was pretty meh as well. The shepherds pie was nothing more than mashed potatoes in a bowl of hot dog chilli and the spinach artichoke dip = reheated creamed spinach. Our only complaint with this place is that the bar area is somewhat small. On the night we came in, all 10 or so seats were taken. We had to sit in the dining room, near the door, and they had the doors open to give an inside/outside vibe. I usually love that vibe...except when it's 101 degrees outside. So it was a little stuffy and we were fighting off a pesky fly. But after a few sips of their bar tender's creations, and a bite or two of their amazing food, we were good. We enjoyed trying McNeal's on a sunny Sunday so not only did was try their Bloody Mary special, and we also chose to eat outside and enjoy the nice weather. My husband went with the Meatball Parmigiana sub sandwich. He kept commenting on how delicious the sub was and had the right balance of meat and sauce. I went with the Salad of Champions which was fabulous and filling without adding an optional protein. The mix of greens with all of the fruits and nuts was a great combo in with a balsamic vinaigrette. The goat cheese and tomatoes really rounded out the flavor. Only went with four stars as unfortunately there was one server for the whole place including the bar. She was doing the best she could give the increasing crowd but it was hard to keep water glasses full and really see when people sitting outside needed something more. McNeals in Plano ... our first visit a few nights ago. We were looking for a bar to watch the Fiesta Bowl but did not want crappy "same old-same old" bar food. Our search led us here... and we are SO glad we made that decision. I dug into this McNeal's Classic quickly so the picture isn't as pretty as it could be but the food was DELICIOUS. Bar food but very well made. Shepherds Pie was amazing. Burger and a rib eye both came out cooked perfectly to temp. Server Logan was great! Very relaxed atmosphere. Clean. Friendly. This is one of the most racist, and unorganized place you can come to in downtown Plano. They have a main server that is racist as well, and the food is very mid. Went last weekend for brunch with my bf. There was barely anyone there so there shouldn't have been any issues. I'm originally from Ireland so was excited for the Irish breakfast. It was most definitely NOT an Irish breakfast. Despite what was said on the menu, the sausages were not Irish sausages, the bacon was not Irish bacon, the black pudding was horrible and the Batchelor's baked beans were black beans. The second meal ordered was a Classic Eggs Benedict. It came but it was the wrong one (the California, $2 less but charged as the Classic with the Classic price). I got the new spaghetti they recently added on the menu and it's cooked to perfection by head chef Angel. The service every time I've been has been phenomenal. Sunday afternoon. Only two waitresses on staff. After sitting outside for 15 mnutes without a waitress. We went inside and asked for service. Waitress came out. Took or order. To be fair she did mention th kitchen was backed up. And it could be 40 minutes before we get our food. She brought our drink order. 2 teas and a cup of ice. We didn't see our waitress for another 40 minutes. Our teas needed refills by then so I went inside to the bar area. Waited for the waitress behind the bar to acknowledge my presence. She didn't. But our original waitress showed up near the bar and said she'd get our teas. I don't blame the waitress. Being understaffed isn't her fault. To the waitresses credit. After bringing our tea refills, she later came out with chips and spinach dip on the house because of how long our food was taking. Eventually after roughly an hour and 15 minutes she brought out two of our 3 orders. But then I waited another 15 minutes for the omellete I ordered. Of course there was no sslt and pepper on the table. I was afraid to ask for any. Bottom line. The kitchen wasn't that busy. Most of the patrons were only having drinks at the bar. No excuse for the food to take that long. The food was good. Once it arrived. And was hot. Which is good. But spending almost two hours waiting on a food order is unacceptable. read more

We had a family event on Saturday, 9/21/2024 and needed to set up a brunch for the next day on Sunday. We contacted Tom at McNeal's and the rest is history. Setting everything up was as simple as could be. Tom could not have been more awesome! Everything was perfect from the delicious food, the set up of the room for all our family and friends, the service and timing. When we need to do another brunch, McNeal's is the place for us. I just had lunch at McNeal's for the first time and I figured that I would try the Shepard's Pie. This is usually a decent indicator of a pub if they have it on the menu. It was described to have 'creamy mash' which were watery instant potatoes. The ground chuck and lamb base was made with what tasted like 'off the shelf' spaghetti sauce which was sweet and not anything like the traditional gravy you get in a Shepard's Pie. The 'sharp cheddar' cheese tasted as if it was at the end of its life. I enjoy Shepard's Pie. I like to make it at home, but it is a lot of effort, so I treat myself when I go out. Just because you have lamb, potatoes, peas & carrots in a dish, does not mean it is a Shepard's Pie. The service was good, and I am sure it would be a fun place to go for a drink after work, but I will not be going back for the food. read more
