This place gets busy so plan ahead and make a reservation! Our reservation was for 1030 and we got there at 10:33 and luckily there were ample parking spots. Upon coming in there wasn't much people and we got seated right away. Since it was our first time, our server was super helpful in giving us suggestions on what's good to order. I ended up trying the cold brew with bourbon and sadly I finished it before I even got to my meal. This cold brew was more bourbon forward, but the flavor of cold brew was still there, and the homemade whipped cream complemented it so good I could have more of it. Since I'm pescatarian, I requested for them to remove the bacon from my croque sandwich, which I was so grateful for! And I enjoyed every last bite of it. My husband did not enjoy his burger (he js a burger snob) and our server was amazing for taking it off the tab (we weren't expecting it nor did we request it) We finished our meal with the amazing whiskey cake. When it came to our table, we were both intimidated since my husband didn't like chocolate and it did look like a chocolate cake but it wasn't. It tastes like a wonderful melange of spices like cinnamon, allspice and whiskey. It's just one of those things that it's better tried since explaining it is pointless. The whiskey cake is our favorite, and we can see ourselves coming back again and again and again for it! read more

I went to Whiskey Cake last night after having it recommended a couple times. I was not sure what to expect as it had rave reviews from the two friends but when I looked on yelp it has 4.2 stars. We were told to get the whiskey cake, mac and cheese and goat cheese fondue. I thought the decor was very cute- industrial chic. My son and I arrived around 7:45 pm on Thursday evening. It was decently busy inside and we were seated immediately. I immediately noticed the mood lighting and it was med volume with the tv/chatter of other guests. Our server was friendly and was with us right away. I ordered a drink and an appetizer. I was actually surprised that my drink (ruby slippers) took so long. I always think it's interesting when they are nonalcoholic drinks but are made at the bar. The drink ended up being very tasty with a cute garnish so my son decided to order one as well. His took a really long time because apparently the printer ran out of paper and so his order was lost? A free or discounted drink would have been a nice touch but it's whatever. We started with the goat cheese fondue, and it was very good. We needed a bit more bread which they brought out. I'm not sure if I was charged for it or not as I didn't carefully look at my receipt. I'm definitely kicking myself for that now. We had to wait a bit to place our order for mains, but I was pleased that they still came out quickly. I ordered the pork ribs and my son ordered the hot hen with fries. The food looked great. When I dug into my mac I found great flavor but the noodles were very much overcooked. The ribs I found were well seasoned but seemed dry. I eventually got to a fattier bit and enjoyed them more. I thought the portions were huge as well. My sons chicken sandwich was decent. Not incredible. Was it better than Chick Fil A? I'm not sure. The fries were ok and the ketchup appeared to have some horseradish in it? It was definitely not straight ketchup. We were definitely full but had to order a piece of the famous whiskey cake to go. We both tried it before heading home and it was delish. You definitely have to get dessert even if you're too full for it. The goat cheese fondu and the whiskey cake were definitely delicious and my favorite part of the meal. With so many different restaurants to try I don't feel like I would go out of my way to come back here, but if someone else wanted to try it, I would definitely come back again. read more

Had brunch with my wife. Service was great. I wished I could remember her name, but she was fantastic. Ordered the chicken and waffles and the crab benedict. Both were very good. The show stopper for me was the Cold Fashioned. It's Buffalo Trace bourbon, cold brew coffee with bitters foam. Let me tell you it was incredible. Had to run home later to try and make one myself. Highly recommend Whiskey Cake for food and cocktails. read more

Service was good but I had the prime rib sandwich which for $24 was meh. The server did a good job selling it but it didn't come out as stacked high as he said it would. The prime rib slices on the sandwich were fried on flattop and dried out and stringy. The whisky cake itself was pretty great though. read more

We typically sit at the bar and Kenny is always solid. Keeps the drinks flowing and checks on us often. My two favorites have been removed from the menu but they will still serve the drink, Wabbit Smash. Best drink maybe ever. I love it! It's gin, carrot, mint, and honey. Don't knock it 'til you try it! The other item is the farmshuka bowl... bring it back Whiskey Cake! The smoked chicken salad is really good! Chill environment and some TVs in the bar area. read more

I love this place. Each time I do eat here it's to meet friends because it's in a great location. They always have a few great selections of gluten free items for me to choose from. The menu in the restaurant is clearly labeled, and makes it easy to find something yummy. The food was fresh and tasted great. I recommend the candied bacon app. Its salty and a little sweet. I will get it again and not just because its the only appetizer i can eat, but because it was so good and it keeps coming to mind. I love their rotisserie chicken and get it every time I go usually in a sandwich form with a gluten free bun. They make amazing sauces and combinations and even eat things that I normally don't like because I know that the chef's put amazing flavors together. The ambiance is great for meeting friends. It's relaxed and the chairs and booths are comfortable. You can sit there for hours and enjoy read more

I haven't been a fan of Whiskey Cake and hadn't been in years. We went for an after work Happy Hour and wow! I was doing dry January so I had the Jessica Wabbit juice because of my two favourite flavours: ginger and pineapple. So good and refreshing! For dinner, I had the smoked chopped chicken salad (without tomatoes) and it was delicious. The dish was missing salt but the basil garlic vinaigrette... wow! We had a few appetizers at the table that everyone seemed to enjoy but I didn't get any pics. We had a good time! For such a large group, we were happy to get a table! read more

I went to Whiskey Cake in Plano, TX for dinner with my family and had a nice time. We started off with the Crab Fritters and the Thai BBQ Duck Wings. I really enjoyed the Crab Fritters, despite not usually enjoying similar items like crab cakes. The Crab Fritters didn't have a strong "crabby" taste, and they came with a delicious chive crema that was very refreshing and pleasant with the fried spheres. I'm giving it an 8.5/10. The Thai BBQ Duck Wings were also good; had a sweet, salty, and sticky glaze. I don't get the "Thai" part of the dish but it did have Asian flavors. I'm giving this a 7.5/10 For our mains, we got the Rotisserie Farm Bird, the Bone-In Pork Chop, the French Onion Burger, and the Wood Grilled Salmon. I would recommend the Pork Chop. Despite it being such a big cut of meat, it was still so tender and juicy. The pork chop also came with carrots, grilled greens, and other root veggies that were also well-cooked and delicious. The pork chops get an 8.5/10. The Rotisserie Farm Bird was very juicy as well with a delicious chicken jus that had me dipping all the vegetables in it. I definitely recommend this main as well. The chicken gets an 8.3/10. Finally, we ordered their namesake-- the Whiskey Cake! This dessert is huge! It easily feeds 5! This is a sticky toffee cake with bourbon anglaise, pecans, and their house-made whipped cream. I enjoyed this dessert but honestly, the cake itself was a bit crumbly/dry. I appreciated that it wasn't overly chocolatey and that the flavors paired well with the pecans, whipped cream, and custardy creme anglaise. The cake gets a 7.5/10. Overall, solid dinner/brunch spot serving up "American" style food. read more

This was my first time to Whiskey Cake Plano and it was a clear winner. Service was a highlight. The restaurant was pretty busy for a weekday lunch and having a reservation helped. We were seated immediately and the food was prepared to perfection and delivered to our table in under 10 minutes. The flavors of the food have always impressed me and this location was no exception. Parking can be tricky during rush hour but there is plenty of parking available. The ambiance is typical of any other Whiskey Cake, which is something I love. Stopped by Whiskey Cake after doing some furniture shopping and it did not disappoint. I'd heard about the restaurant a few times so was excited to finally try it out. We were there around brunch time so we were able to try out that menu. Started off with the flash-fried Brussel sprouts and man, oh man, I would get them again and again. H I G H L Y recommend. The colossal cinnamon roll wasn't really all that big but good flavor and not overly sweet. I went with the short rib hash and the flavor was PHENOMENAL. Didn't save any room for dessert but the whiskey cake was suggested by our server and will have to go back to try that. They have a good variety on their menu and will definitely have to go back and try some of their other offerings. read more

Whiskey Cake Plano, I am sad I waited too long to eat here!! OMG, one of the best places to enjoy brunch with your mom, or close gf''s. Luckily, I finally visited with my mom to celebrate her birthday! We were greeted by friendly hostess then promptly seated us. Our server, Andrea was delightful. We started off our food celebration with a mimosa flight that was delicious and a great price. My favorite was the pineapple. Next we shared appetizer of the billionaire bacon baked to perfection with crispy, brown sugar, and rich maple, and the greatest cinnamon roll ever. I ordered the eggs over easy served on top of one of the BEST madame croquettes. My mom ordered french toast stuffed with cinnamon apples, cream, and morsels of delightful gooey goodness. Since we were celebrating we decided to order to-go dessert of whiskey cake bread pudding for my mom's birthday. Overall our server was amazing recommending delicious appetizers and meals that met all our expectations. Water was refilled, we were highly satisfied and I cannot wait to go back to try more food from this epic spot. The table beside us were eating some interesting items that looked both amazing and delicious like chicken and waffles and giant hamburgers. We cannot wait to go back this time treating my aunt for her birthday. She has been looking for bread pudding far and wide and I told her whiskey cake has the best!! With perfectly baked bread, cinnamon, raisins, bourbon soaked pecans, sauce and whipped cream. The cake was so moist and delicious- I didn't even need the sauce. Thanks whiskey cake for making my tummy happy and making me regret waiting too long to eat here. read more

We had a meeting in Plano and stopped in for lunch. It's quite big and the bar is enormous! They have quite a bit of outdoor seating as well. Our waitress stopped by seconds after we were seated and took our orders of iced tea and candied bacon. The teas came out straight away followed shortly after after by the bacon. The bacon was good. It was chunks of pork belly served in a cast iron skillet. Some pieces were more tender than others, but it was good and well with the money. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich, which also was very good. I loved the onion jam and will order extra next time! The beef was tender and delicious and paired well with the Swiss cheese. Just a great sandwich. We returned after our meeting for a social hour old fashioned. Nothing special just a solid old fashioned. Great place to hang with friends and try some new/different ryes and bourbons. read more

Is it a millennial aesthetic vibe? Yes. Does that mean it's cringey? Not really. Whisky Cake does a great job leaning into their ambiance without feeling like it's too much. The food is really good. Enjoyed the Deviled Eggs as appetizers, along with their charcuterie board. The meats were juicy, the service was great, and the Whiskey Cake was an enjoyable send off to enjoy with your party. I always kinda thought Whiskey Cake was a cringey millennial place that was used weirdly frequently for work outings. I've now been in here a couple times and I'm kinda shocked at the quality. They have interesting cocktails which hit both in taste and sheer creativity. Most of what I tried was well above average. But the thing that so weirdly impressed me was the steak frites I had this last time. I've had steak, steak salad, or steak frites at many places. The quality is all over the place. But these steak frites they served me were incredible and gives me a lot of faith in the quality of the kitchen. Ordering medium rare steak at ANY restaurant that's not a proper steakhouse can be problematic. But this steak came out perfectly cooked. The meat was high quality. The cook was perfectly medium rare with just enough char on the outside to complement the perfect seasoning. This was easily one of the best steak dishes I have had in a long time from any place that doesn't specialize in it. And of course the whiskey cake. Amazing as usual. And weirdly good service. The bartenders were HUSTLING like crazy, our server was always stopping by. Great meal. Great service. read more

We made reservations for Brunch for a Saturday morning , however I believe with the amount of seating available we would have been good otherwise as well -perhaps a ten minute wait at the max. Once seated our orders were promptly taken - they have a full bar with variety of drinks however don't have a cappuccino ! strange for a place that is popular for brunch . I instead got a regular French pressed Americano which was a good replacement .The hubby got a bloody Mary which he seemed to enjoy . Our table of four had all slightly different things - Devilled eggs , Farmers soup, A chicken burger , French toast and a poached egg benedict . Food was delicious and the portion sizes were generous .we struggled to finish ours . We had hoped to order the whiskey cake but just couldn't since all of us were way too full . Service is fast and friendly . Huge parking lot right out front . read more

The location is perfect, over the ame amount of parking. The service was phenomenal, and the food was top tear. It has been forever since I had Fried Green Tomatoes, and these were elevated with pimento cheese, tasso ham, and remoulade sauce. Honestly, I'm a sauce girl, and if it just came with that, I would have been satisfied but points for the rest. The fry on it was just right, not Iverson breaded and not too hot that it destroyed the tomatoe slices. The Deviled Eggs fell short in comparison. For all the fluff seen at the presentation, they came out pretty bland and underwhelming. My main course was the winner! I was so happy with my Venable stew, you know, when you order exactly what you're hoping to have, and it fully delivers in taste and quantity. I had leftovers for the next day. All my foods paired well with the pinot noir that was smooth and greatly appreciated for our girls' dinner read more

Had dinner last night there, been a few times...on one of those occasions, it didn't go well. However, the Manager there, Trinity, turned that all around in my subsequent visit. And yesterday, she came by to say hello and make sure everything was going well...loved it! Lastly, if you try anything, be sure you have the incredible Whiskey Cake! Wow! I tell people I don't have a sweet tooth, I have 32 of them! read more

I started with the fried green tomatoes, which were delicious. For my main course, I ordered the steak and eggs from the brunch menu, and everything was cooked perfectly. The steak was exactly how I ordered it, and the eggs were great. we went upstairs to the third-floor rooftop to drink our dessert! I had the espresso martini, and it was fantastic. The rooftop has great views and is such a fun way to end the meal. Overall, Haywire exceeded expectations. Great food, great atmosphere, an awesome rooftop, and phenomenal service. There was an extremely large party, probably around more than half of the spots, happening at the same time as the restaurant was still taking regular reservations and walk-ins, and the entire situation felt poorly planned. I want to make it very clear that this is not a complaint about the servers, hosts, bartenders, or managers working that night. Everyone I interacted with was doing their absolute best, and considering what they were dealing with, I thought the employees did a great job. Our server, was especially great. Even with how busy and stressful everything clearly was around her, she never let that stress come through in her service. She was attentive, kind, and handled everything professionally, which honestly made me appreciate her even more knowing how much was going on around the restaurant. The manager, also really stood out. He seemed to be everywhere at once, helping his employees, checking on different areas of the restaurant, and doing everything he could to keep things running. You could tell he genuinely cared about his staff and was trying to support them. My issue is with whoever organized or planned the large event. Having a party that size while continuing to fill the rest of the restaurant made everything feel unnecessarily chaotic and unorganized. There appeared to be plenty of employees working, so this did not seem like a staffing problem--it seemed like a planning problem. As a customer, it made the experience less enjoyable, but more than anything, I felt terrible watching how hard the employees and manager were having to work just to compensate for what looked like poor event planning. I really wish the large party had been planned around better, whether that meant limiting reservations, reducing walk-ins, or otherwise giving the staff enough breathing room to handle an event of that size. Again, the employees themselves were wonderful. My server was great, The manager was incredibly helpful, and the rest of the staff seemed to be doing everything they could. This review is specifically about the way the large party appeared to have been organized. The staff deserved a much better setup than what they were given.

When we checked their reviews online, it didn't look too promising, but the menu sounded amazing so we decided to come back the next day and try the food. I am so glad that we did! Every single thing we ordered was absolutely amazing. We were able to order the bucket of fried chicken for $20 off of the happy hour menu which was four boneless, skinless breaded fried chicken thighs and they came out hot and perfect! They were so good. We also ordered one Baja fish taco and we regretted not ordering more because they were really good. We also ordered the lobster Bucatini, which was an amazing flavor, but honestly a bit disappointing on the portion size, it could have come with a bit more pasta and sauce, and a piece of bread would've been nice for the sauce. We ended our meal with the crème brûlée cheesecake which I was kind of scared to order because I really love crème brûlée but I'm not a super fan of cheesecake but Earl's did it 10 out of 10 perfect! Hands-down, one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had. For the drinks, I ordered an old-fashioned and my husband ordered a Moscow mule. They can't put the tables together in some areas because they're actually voltage to the floor. So four people sat at one table and then two of us sat at another table. It worked out perfectly fine. We just couldn't all engage in the conversation, but it was fine. I ordered an old-fashioned and it was OK. I did order a second one and opted to go to Buffalo Trace . I will say their cherries taste like they are soaked in the house whiskey and it's a lot to take when you bite it at the end of your grain. For my meal, I got the Cobb salad with the sirloin and no egg. The salad was really good and I appreciated the steak. Steak is only about 4 ounces that you'll be able to see from the image so I definitely want a little bit more. We did get some appetizers - forgive me as I don't remember what the name of this dip was, but it was very tasty and was basically corn with avocado and something else. This is a resubmission as the original review was removed. I preface with, the wait staff were fantastic. The food and everyone else -- not. Hostesses and managers get two thumbs down. I give it a two stars because my review is based upon our experience as a party of nearly 30 which started bad and got worse. But - I've seen too many good reviews to write them off entirely. Instead, I will give it another shot, just myself and my wife, then decide. It was my wife's birthday. We reserved seating for 25 a month in advance. We followed up to ensure our reservations were booked. The first confirmation call, they had no record of our reservation. We re-booked. We followed up a week later, just in case. They had our reservation, but at the wrong time -- and the time we set was no longer available... so we changed our arrival time to fit their schedule - only to learn reservations this time of day required us to guarantee each of our guests would purchase a minimum of $50 in food and drinks. WTF, really? On party day, a group of us arrive together, hostess tells us we can't go to our seats until 3/4 of the party arrives. OK, I get it, they make their $$ when they have butts in seats, ordering, eating and leaving to make room for the next customers. But 15 guests were present ordering drinks and appetizers while waiting. So we're waiting for everyone else -- and of course they're on Filipino time. Now the hostess starts in with, "We can't hold your seating more than 15 minutes. If the rest of your party doesn't arrive in the next 10 minutes I'll have to give your seating to other guests." Yeah, OK - send a manager. Manager strolls over and says it's out of their hands, it's policy. Somehow 3 more arrive (making it 75% of our party) with moments to spare. We grab the hostess and stampede to our tables. Within 60 seconds they start rushing us to order. We get settled in a manager introduces our wait staff. They were great. Patient, helpful and attentive. I spoke with one, saying we just arrived and it will be a few minutes before we're ready to place any orders. She completely understood. Ten-ish minutes in, we place our orders and we wait, and wait, and wait some more. Finally food starts arriving. Some burnt, some not cooked through, some were both. I didn't keep exact count, but a good number of plates were sent back to the kitchen. Myself, I had one of their burgers along with a chicken and kale salad. I liked the salad. The burger looked fantastic but was over-cooked and bone dry. My wife had rotisserie chicken which she ate some and left the rest for take home. I tried it and it was chicken. Nothing special. An hour in, everyone has their food and having a good time. Loud, laughing, taking photos. The wait staff had smoothed things over. Until it came time to pay up, nearly every ticket was incorrect. To be fair, almost no-one was in their original seat and couples who were at that end of the tables are now here and there. Ultimately, instead of remaking every ticket, we figured out which items were never ordered and the wait staff made the corrections. Everything else we figured out who had what, who were missing items and who were paying for extra stuff they didn't order -- agreeing to make good our next time out. Will I return? If as a party of more than 4 -- not on your life. But I will give 'em another shot, just myself and my wife, then decide. read more

2 thumbs up and if I had a third, I would give it. The concept was cute and unique. Yes, a grown man just said "cute" to describe a restaurant. All the male servers had their white shirt, blue jeans, suspenders, and toolbelts as their apron; and the female servers had their white shirt, blue jeans, suspenders, and quilted aprons. You will find bales of hay, barrels, and paddles to hold their menu. Like I said, "cute and unique." The atmosphere was definitely geared towards a mid to high income family. I'm not a drinker but with the space allotted to the bar, I'm assuming they are trying to attract the sports-bar scene individuals. They did a good job in creating enough space for different outings from family night out to hang out with your friend nights to romantic dinners. My friends and I were served by Smeth (I believe that's how you spell his name). He was a fantastic server and great at recommending dishes to us. With his help, we ordered six plates. Appetizer: ... Thai Barbecue Duck Wings - The duck was astounding. The protein was juicy and not too greasy. It was just right. The sauce was sweet and savory. Main Course: ... Basic Burger - One of the best "basic" burgers I have eaten is in Austin, Texas at a restaurant named Shady Grove. The thing that sets them apart from all the other burger joints in Austin is their focus on the protein itself and Whiskey Cake did the meat justice. Their basic burger is right up there with Shady Grove. ... Wood Grilled Salmon - You can never go wrong with a nice wood-grilled salmon and they did well. They let the protein do the talking and it sure did talk. It was cook just right with a right - not too dry and not too moist. What really elevated the flavor of the salmon was the salsa verde and sweet corn maque choux. ... Pork Brisket - This was the majority's favorite dish. When you think of a "brisket," you think of a nice charred smokey coat with a juicy center, but Whiskey Cake changed that image quickly. Their pork brisket looks like a perfectly grilled tenderloin but tastes like a brisket. You just have to try it to know what I'm talking about. The side had a good kick to it that balanced the protein. ... Grilled Tritip and Chimmichurri - The tritip was probably the best plated dish of them all and it tastes good as it looks. The protein had a nice char cooked to perfection. I would personally rate this one as my favorite dish but everyone has different palates and I'm biased towards cows. Dessert: ... Whiskey Cake - As a group, we were reluctant on getting dessert at the restaurant because we were planning on getting ice cream afterwards; but Smeth recommended it and I couldn't pass up on it. The bottom line is "if you leave this restaurant without trying what the restaurant is named after, you are missing out on who they are." All the flavors in this dessert is very balanced and compliments each other very well. Bottom line: My friends and I will be visiting this place often as long as they keep up the great work. It's a bummer they don't have it in Austin, Texas but that's what makes Dallas that much sweeter. read more

I have visited Whiskey Cake four times total. The food is good although it does stray from the menu. However, if the first impression is suppose to be your best this place is going to fail. Their hostess are the worst! For example, I visited Sunday morning before 10:00 they made us wait without any explanation as to why the entire restaurant was empty but we had to wait 30 minutes. When they decided to sit us the one who showed us to our table had extremely oily black long hair and kept using her hands to push it back (gross) and they handed us our menus and she never once smiled. I felt like we were a huge inconvenience to this girl. On Friday night, I wanted to sit on a patio and enjoy a few drinks and dinner so we decided to try WC again. We got there around 6:00 p.m. I asked for a patio the hostess told me 25 minutes so we sat at the bar and had one drink. At this point the restaurant was not very busy at all. After, 30 minutes the place started top get packed, I went to the host stand to ask when we would be seated the blonde hostess interrupted me and said that we would have a seat when it is ready. So we waited another 45 minutes (are you kidding me) finally my boyfriend just went up there to say we wanted any table it didn't matter where (we were very hungry at this point) so we then had to wait another 15 minutes ( I was very upset) I walked over to the patio and notice that there were four empty tables so I walked over to the host and asked if we could sit there. She rolled her eyes so far back into her head and sighed and said they were reserved for a big party. (we had gotten there before the big party had made reservations) We ended up having to sit inside the restaurant. The hostess were all wearing open toed shoes and their toes were disgusting. ( I started to lose my appetite at this point) Marcie was our server and she did well, but we were already upset with the lack of service the hostess had displayed. The service is usually good when we finally get to our table; like I said I have visited this place four times. Brunch is good. I have never had chicken and waffles so I tried it here. They tasted good. I also tried their fried green tomato BLT that is a great twist to an ordinary sandwich. The drinks are expensive I had the afternoon delight and it was $9 and it was maybe four gulps worth the blood orange gimlet is good but the flavor varies a lot form bartender to bartender. I order the vegetable tzatkiki thinking it was vegetarian, but it had sardines, gross, but that could have been my mistake, but I couldn't eat it. The atmosphere is super cute and the idea is great! I just can't get over the lack of service from the hostess. Unfortunately, I will not visit this place again because the hostess are rude, inexperienced and lack the hygiene for the restaurant business! read more

We stopped into Whiskey Cake for the second time yesterday and let me tell you, this place is already rockin. Friday night, my wife and I survived our wait with drinks from a friendly cocktail waitress that were just perfectly balanced. My wife's house margarita was like none other that I've tasted, complete with a piece of house-made beef jerky, and the manhatten I had was the best I've ever tasted. This place is about quality all the way down to the cherries at the bar. I don't see a seat in the house that I wouldn't mind sitting at. The whole place has a great comfortable feel to it, and the mood lighting from the reproduction edison bulbs they have is a really unique touch. The wife was really quite impressed. For dinner, we started with the grilled mussels and deviled eggs. We could really tell that the chefs were proud of the food they were serving. It's really just about the little things that show what kind of a place you're in. I couldn't disagree more with those that dislike the eggs- they were served with smoked salmon, fried capers, and finely diced onion and chives. If I could do it as well, I'd make them at home. The broth that the mussels were served in was perfectly buttery, with pieces of ham, fresh tomatoes, and swiss chard to accompany it. At a whole pound, I could almost make a meal out of them. We ate our entrees of red fish and cut sirloin almost too quickly! Like others have said before, the steak at this place is to die for. My wife's grilled fish, recommended by our waitress, came with orzo, spinach, and parmesan and was perfectly seasoned and melt in your mouth good. We haven't had any room for dessert yet- though we saw the table next to us being served a sort of creme brulee that was actually lit on fire table side which was really impressive. We'll be coming back frequently. The service , food, and atmosphere is some of the best around. This is definitely our new favorite place and hope they're here to stay. read more

Whiskey Cake is the kind of place that makes brunch feel like a real treat. The atmosphere is warm and rustic, with plenty of charm, and the food is fresh, flavorful, and just a little bit unique in the best way. Jake, our waiter, was amazing. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. He suggested a few of his favorite dishes, and his enthusiasm made the whole experience even better. If you're lucky enough to get Jake, you're in great hands. Start with a mimosa or, if you're feeling adventurous, the guava gimlet. The mimosas are perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and pair well with everything on the menu. The guava gimlet is refreshing and tropical, with just the right amount of sweetness from the guava, mixed with lime and gin. It's a fun drink that really enhances the brunch experience. The Farmers Breakfast is a solid choice if you're looking for something filling and delicious. The eggs are cooked to perfection, the potatoes are crispy, and the jalapeño biscuits add a little kick that makes the whole dish pop. The creamy grits are a great addition too, making it a hearty, comforting meal that still feels fresh and light. The short rib hash is another standout. The short rib is incredibly tender and flavorful, and it's served with perfectly seasoned potatoes and a poached egg on top. The richness of the egg blends beautifully with the short rib, creating a dish that's both satisfying and indulgent. If you're a fan of cheese, the goat cheese fondue is a must. It's rich, creamy, and tangy, served with bread and fresh veggies for dipping. It's indulgent but not too heavy, and it's a great way to start the meal with a group. Overall, Whiskey Cake nails the balance of quality, creativity, and comfort. It's a wonderful spot to slow down, enjoy some good food, and kick back with friends or family. With fantastic service from Jake, it's highly recommended for a weekend brunch that's a bit special but still relaxed. read more

We came here for a friend's bday party and as we first stepped into the restaurant, I already fell in love with the place. Besides it being a bit TOO dim for me - I loved the decor and the small lights they had for each table. I also liked how open the bar area and seating was arranged and the multiple TVs to watch all the sports action. We ordered a couple of things and tried other people's dishes: Mesquite grilled mussles, 3 little Pigs, Hot chicken n cheese melt, and the Mesquite grilled redfish. I'd have to say the mussles was my favorite and the 3 little pigs were also super delicious. The only thing I didn't like about the chicken n cheese melt was the dill havarti. And the redfish was okay, but a bit too buttery (which made it taste too greasy). And of course for dessert, we had to order the Whiskey cake. It was aaaamazing! Especially with the white sauce and the pecans - it was a party in your mouth. Definitely have to save room for this dessert! [We also ordered the Butterscotch Bourbon Creme Brulee - I don't like bourbon so I really didn't like this dessert. If it was just a regular butterscotch creme brulee, I think I would have enjoyed it.] The service was GREAT - we had a party of about 20 people and we had 4-5 servers waiting on our table. We got our orders right away, got our water and our glass was never empty - our food came out quicker than we thought and they always came back to make sure we were doing okay. They were also able to split our bills according to each couple - definitely a plus since we had so many people. All in all it was a fun time, great service, and great food. read more

Whiskey Cake is hands down one of my favorite spots in DFW. I've been for dinner plenty of times and always left impressed, but brunch has its own unique vibe and offerings that make it just as memorable. I recently went for brunch, and our server Jake truly elevated the experience. You could tell he loves working there. He had a genuine enthusiasm for both the food and the bourbon selection, giving us spot-on recommendations that made each course special. His detailed knowledge added a level of insight that I don't often experience dining out. We started with the goat cheese fondue, which was surprisingly perfect for brunch. It's a little different than your usual brunch appetizers, but I'd highly recommend it. It was creamy, tangy, and just delicious. Jake then suggested the Cold Fashioned, which is now an absolute must for me. Made with coffee-infused Buffalo Trace and topped with whipped cream prepared right at the table, it was the perfect blend of coffee and bourbon flavors. It's a drink that really wakes you up and sets the tone for a great meal. For my entree, I had the Short Rib Hash, and it did not disappoint. The short rib was tender, the flavors well-balanced, and it was just the right portion to be filling without being overly heavy. While I still lean slightly towards their dinner menu as my personal favorite, I've never had a meal at Whiskey Cake that wasn't top notch. The service, food, and drinks make it a standout in a city with no shortage of great restaurants. If you haven't been yet, go and ask for Jake. read more

We stopped in Whiskey Cake on Saturday night for the first time and were greeted by a friendly staff with a 20 min wait, which turned out to be perfect time for one specialty drink from the bar. Finally a trendy upscale grill/lounge in Plano with a downtown Dallas feel. The specialty drinks were very unique and equally delicious, my wife tried 3 different ones throughout the evening. There are several chairs and sitting areas around the bar area with unique eclectic furniture and decor. Very nice atmosphere and clientele. We were seated as soon as our other party arrived. The menu was well rounded with something for everyone. We started off with some kick ass appetizers called "3 Little Pigs" and Crab cake, always a fav! Both were superb! I ordered the Chicken Melt and my wife ordered the bone in pork chop. The food was prepared from scratch and served within 20 min of ordering which was nice. Her pork chop looked as good as it taste, would highly recommend trying. My melt was great and there was more than enough food for the whole table. Several items on the menu that looked great, so we are looking forward to returning soon for another round! On a 1-10, a easy 9...... Very pleased with the whole experience. PS- Obviously if you are a whiskey drinker, whatever your call, they probably have! read more

Visited Whiskey Cake when I was in Texas for work and goddamn IS THIS PLACE AH-MAZING. I think the coolest thing about Whiskey Cake is their dedication to 'farm-fresh comfort food.' They source their ingredients straight from the farm so it's really great to know that their stuff is locally-sourced. Definitely want to go back to try their brunch and lunch since I only got to try some of their dinner items. I got the OMG (Onion, Mushroom, and Goodness) Burger and simply put - it was one of the best burgers that I've ever had. I also had their 3 Little Pigs - such a cute and totally fitting name for those adorable looking (and super delicious) slow roasted pork sliders. The goat cheese fondue was a great starter as well... and I don't even fux with goat cheese but I do now! It was served with some grilled sourdough (one of my fave types of bread), Greek olives, and roasted tomatoes. Ended the meal with a Whiskey Cake and I can't believe that I almost said no to dessert (dafuq was I thinking?!). Out of everything I ate and want to try, that dessert definitely takes... the (Whiskey) Cake. (lol) read more

Atmosphere: 3 to 4 stars Food: 3 to 4 stars Service: 4 stars The decor is farmhouse bar basically. It was extremely rowdy and chaotic right when you walk in the restaurant. The 3 little pigs, mussels, and shishito peppers as appetizers and they were all good. We had the rotisserie farm bird, tenderloin, and lobster rolls for the dinner entree. The only compliant is that the tenderloin is too tough even thought I ordered medium ware. Our server raved about their whiskey cake for almost 5 mins saying how it was the best desert in D Magazine. I usually don't care what foodies or critics say about how good the food is. I am my own critic! Well the whiskey cake was AMAZING!! My favorite thing on the menu!! Must try!! Service was average to above average! I do however have something to say about their uniforms. The servers all wore a white tshirt with suspenders and jeans. For some reason it reminded me of the Chippendales performers in Vegas. Every time I see the servers I felt like they were going to strip! HAHA !! The uniforms have to go! read more

I really don't know how anybody couldn't fall in love with this place. I came in the 1st time in August with my girlfriend and we had a great time out on the patio on a Saturday night. It was really busy that night and the manager (Scott) took great care of us. We returned last week to come check it out again and I can safely say that this is hands down still my favorite restaurant. Scott the manager was at the front door when we came in and he immediately recognized us and sat us at our spot on the patio. The server was phenomenal as well. Not only did the server know all about my favorite bourbon, she also suggested that I try it with an ice ball. I had no idea what she was talking about. A minute later she came out with this giant copper press looking thing and presto blammo, I'm enjoying Maker's 46 on the rox like I've never had it before. Loved the pork chop and my gf's redfish was killer (great recommendations from our server). My gf was so impressed with everything that she plans to book her company Christmas party there. read more

Whiskey Cake never disappoints, but tonight's visit was on another level. The food was absolutely outstanding -- the goat cheese fondue was rich, creamy, and honestly one of the best starters I've ever had. The hummus was incredibly fresh with the perfect texture and flavor, served with warm, perfectly seasoned pita. Every dish had that signature Whiskey Cake quality where you can taste the care and craft behind it. But what truly made the experience unforgettable was our server, Chris. Over-the-top amazing doesn't even begin to describe him. His attention to detail was unreal -- noticing the little things before we even thought to ask, checking in at just the right times, and making sure our family felt welcomed and taken care of the entire visit. You can tell he genuinely cares about giving people a great experience. We had an incredible time, and I loved bringing my family here. Whiskey Cake has officially become one of those places we'll come back to again and again. Highly recommend! read more

My son brought his car into Quirk Works in Quincy for auto body repair right before Memorial Day. We figure a few 2-3 weeks for repair, boy were we wrong. After 3 weeks he calls to check on progress and they tell him they're waiting for parts and there was a lot of damage. Not really, but it's their excuse for taking a very long time. Plus, No one calls him to say there is a delay. A week later he calls back and gets the same answer, waiting for parts. We're now angry that it's taking this long and we're at a month. Every week he calls and gets the same response. We're now at 10 weeks for auto repair. Finally, he sends an email to the president of Quirk and tells him what's going on. Within a few days he gets a call from the body shop telling him we have a loaner car until the car is finished. Surprisingly, the car is done the next week. I could go on and give more details but it would turn into a novel. STAY AWAY FROM QUIRK, if you want your repair done in a timely manner. read more

This is one of those rare gems you find tucked away next to all the corporate cookie cutter BS dallas is known for like Darden and Yum!brands. The decor was awesome, they use retro carbon filament bulbs to light the place (circa 1890's) I simply enjoyed the fact that there was fresh rosemary instead of flowers adorning the tables. Everything is rustic, yet somehow refined. I shat brix at the epic whiskey menu with hand labled casks full of goodness. I had to also appreciate the mixology and how they make all thier mixers themselves using fresh ingredients. Thier food seemed to follow the same model. I also loved how this is one of those places with a proper chef and an ever-changing menu absent at those big corporate places. The food seems to be prepared fresh to order, using fresh local ingredients. Combined with the decor and local southern flavors I would say its a perfect place to take a guest from out of town. Or an impressionable 3rd date. *wink wink read more

Dont believe the hype. Drove about 30 minutes to try them for lunch as i missed them my last visit. Hostess couldnt understand we just wanted a table for 2. Then took us to a table that someine was going to be moving to so we got another table. Our server Farrah was nice. When i asked what was good, she gave me all her faves. I dontlike cheese so just opted to try a few different things. *Farm salad.. vibrant and good dressing. *Deviled eggs...blah. especially when you find egg shells in them. Told our server and she apologized and we just had her take them away. No new eggs, not off our bill, we left 3 pieces there too. *fried green tomatoes...no taste. Dipping sauce was decent but nothing that stood out. * turkey burger...you can get this anywhere. The chips it came with were great. *had ti try the whiskey cake...good presentation, good flavor. Ours was dry. $50 lunch for 2 with tip and very lackluster. Nice bathroom and interior. read more

Whiskey Cake is literally the best thing in the menu on my book. I really love all the concepts they have thrown together and so far everytime I've come here, whether it would be for brunch, lunch or dinner; it has always been great. I've had several opportunities to write a review but with me procrastinating and each time I go back, I get something different and the experience becomes better than it was before. I've had the deviled eggs as an appetizer and they were simple yet delicious. I also had the chicken and cheese melt which was surprisingly delicious with Pesto and Havarti making it a really great sandwich. Now, I suggest you make a reservation for a big party or send someone over there ahead of time because it's a wait to get seated on prime evenings or even during brunch. As for the cocktails, I'm like an old English lady and loving on Pimm's so I order the Pimm's Cup drink. Finish up with Whiskey Cake. It's so worth it. read more

Finally a top quality non-chain restaurant in the Plano/Frisco area. Whiskey Cake is fantastic! Plan B Group has done an extremely tasteful redesign of the old Plano Tavern. It is inviting and makes you feel comfortable the minute you open the front door and step inside. Each time that I've eaten here the hostess has been receptive and the wait staff has been very informative. My hats off to the manager Kevin G. who obviously does a great job of hiring and training the wait staff and bar staff. Each item I have had, the Veggie Stack, the Smoked Turkey Stack, the Chicken Salad Sandwich and the Whiskey Cake have been uniquely created and were very fresh. Christine behind the bar will steer you in the right direction when it comes to the Artisan Cocktails that Whiskey Cake offers. Hit Whiskey Cake soon you will be happy! read more

The food is excellent! Everything is fresh. Farm to the table. We all had different meals and everyone was very satisfied. I had the Chicken & cheese melt minus the cheese and it was amazing. The the chicken was so moist and flavorful. The portions are quite large. Someone else had the "OMG" burger. The name says it all. The burger was huge! It was very good. It had great flavor. The pulled pork sandwich has a bit of a kick to it but once again very flavorful. All of our meals came with a side of homemade potato chips. Delicious! The meals are huge but you have to save room for the Whiskey Cake. It is so yummy! My 11 year old loved it and he isn't much of a cake fan. It is Delicious!! We split one among 4 people. It is quite rich but oh so good. read more

Where to begin...? This place is awesome. We went there for Sunday Brunch and left extremely satisfied. Starting with the Bloody Mary bar, spicy or not, with a myriad of different ingredients including homemade pickles and spicy peppers, beans, garlic, and onions and what seemed to be beef jerky they make as well. For the meal I had chicken and waffles and my girlfriend had the frittata. Afterwards we were so stuffed with delicious food. Our waitress, Bird (I know, but really) was very attentive and knowledgable too. She told us that they only use local, Texas grown produce and they even have a spice garden that the bartenders use to garnish the drinks. Overall, I wanted to go back for dinner. It was great and we'll be back very soon. read more

The Bar Show The best part is the show. The people-watching at the bar is unlike anything else. Happy hour starts at 3:00, but the bar seats are usually full by 2:45. Latecomers often walk in, circle the bar, and leave when they realize there are no seats available. Many guests settle in for the full three hours, which creates its own entertainment. Then come the "watchers," each with a strategy for claiming a seat: * Look for someone nearing the end of a drink. * Watch for guests paying their bill. * Hover nearby, hoping a seat opens up. * Ask someone for a heads-up when they are about to leave. Just a piece of salmon and a side of broccoli; nothing fancy or original about this dish. I'm sharing a picture of a salmon dish we had a a restaurant in Estes Park, Colorado for the same price. Maybe they will learn a decent presentation for a $30 dollar dish. I'm sure the food cost in CO is not higher than DFW. Do better. The steak frites was the most disappointing dish of all; $50 dollars for a small piece of steak, side of spinach and small side of fries. The chicken parm was just ok. The pickle in the hamburger overtook the flavor. Order with no pickles if you're not a fan. The side of fries for the hamburger, which have to be ordered separately, were cold and just ok; nothing special. Overall, we were NOT impressed. It's situated on the first floor of the very nicely appointed Legacy Tower, home of a UBS office. The adjacent parking garage may be utilized and validated within. I very much prefer this location for business lunches, as it's usually fairly empty at those hours, making it perfect for serious conversations without loud music or scores of other patrons banging their steel implements. The wine list, like I mentioned previously, is fairly mundane; especially for a steakhouse. Consisting mostly of basic Californian offerings, but not even sophisticated enough to offer something like a Brewer-Clifton "3-d" Chardonnay. For many people that wouldn't be an issue, but it would give me some room for pause when planning a more grandiose event. I was still able to find some reasonably priced gems within, but there really wasn't anything special. Though they do offer 100 wines by the glass, which is actually a great way to try out wines that you aren't complete sure of. Beef carpaccio is decent, but made in a somewhat strange manner. To be fair it's a hard dish to make look appetizing, and they do appear to use good quality meat for it, however I do think it could be taken up a few notches. It's served alongside parmesan crusted crostinis. These little things are quite enjoyable, and of course the typical capers and pseudo dijonnaise. The core steaks are USDA Prime as you might expect, for lunch I usually opt for a filet as I'm not trying to fly into a midafternoon stupor. Usually cooked to specification. The other more spendy options are quite good, bone-in fillet, dry-aged ribeye etc. Sides are of course extra, and in my experience have been up to snuff, especially the Fleming's potatoes (au gratin). Service is always in line with what is customary for a steakhouse. Like I prefaced in the intro, it is ultimately a national chain, and it certainly ranks in the top 3 of it's respective category. I don't know that it's better than it's closest competitor, Ruth's Chris, as they approach beef somewhat differently and the ambiance is rigid formality versus approachably upscale. In any case, this is a good choice, and you can sometimes find deals on Bloomin' Brand gift cards which you can redeem here.
