I love this place. Each time I do eat here it's to meet friends because it's in a great location. They always have a few great selections of gluten free items for me to choose from. The menu in the restaurant is clearly labeled, and makes it easy to find something yummy. The food was fresh and tasted great. I recommend the candied bacon app. Its salty and a little sweet. I will get it again and not just because its the only appetizer i can eat, but because it was so good and it keeps coming to mind. I love their rotisserie chicken and get it every time I go usually in a sandwich form with a gluten free bun. I was doing dry January so I had the Jessica Wabbit juice because of my two favourite flavours: ginger and pineapple. So good and refreshing! I always kinda thought Whiskey Cake was a cringey millennial place that was used weirdly frequently for work outings. I've now been in here a couple times and I'm kinda shocked at the quality. They have interesting cocktails which hit both in taste and sheer creativity. Most of what I tried was well above average. But the thing that so weirdly impressed me was the steak frites I had this last time. I've had steak, steak salad, or steak frites at many places. The quality is all over the place. But these steak frites they served me were incredible and gives me a lot of faith in the quality of the kitchen. Ordering medium rare steak at ANY restaurant that's not a proper steakhouse can be problematic. But this steak came out perfectly cooked. The meat was high quality. The cook was perfectly medium rare with just enough char on the outside to complement the perfect seasoning. This was easily one of the best steak dishes I have had in a long time from any place that doesn't specialize in it. And of course the whiskey cake. Amazing as usual. And weirdly good service. This was my first time to Whiskey Cake Plano and it was a clear winner. Service was a highlight. The restaurant was pretty busy for a weekday lunch and having a reservation helped. We were seated immediately and the food was prepared to perfection and delivered to our table in under 10 minutes. The flavors of the food have always impressed me and this location was no exception. The drinks came out a few at a time. We sat there waiting and the final drinking arrived ONE HOUR after the first, with us having to ask multiple times where it was. We had a meeting in Plano and stopped in for lunch. It's quite big and the bar is enormous! They have quite a bit of outdoor seating as well. Our waitress stopped by seconds after we were seated and took our orders of iced tea and candied bacon. The teas came out straight away followed shortly after after by the bacon. The bacon was good. It was chunks of pork belly served in a cast iron skillet. Some pieces were more tender than others, but it was good and well with the money. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich, which also was very good. I loved the onion jam and will order extra next time! The beef was tender and delicious and paired well with the Swiss cheese. Just a great sandwich. It has been forever since I had Fried Green Tomatoes, and these were elevated with pimento cheese, tasso ham, and remoulade sauce. Honestly, I'm a sauce girl, and if it just came with that, I would have been satisfied but points for the rest. The fry on it was just right, not Iverson breaded and not too hot that it destroyed the tomatoe slices. The Deviled Eggs fell short in comparison. We recently had a wonderful weekday lunch at Whiskey Cake when visiting Plano. The atmosphere was lively and inviting. It seems to be a popular lunch spot for businesspeople. For my meal, I had the "hot hen" sandwich. It consisted of crispy spiced chicken, lettuce and chili mayo on a sesame hoagie. The sandwich was pretty good, but be careful, you may come across a few bones while eating the sandwich and the last thing you want to do is choke at brunch. Went in for happy hour on a Wednesday. At 4:00 there were still some seats at the bar, but as people ventured in after work, the bar area and the restaurant were pretty full for mid-week. Our bartender greeted us right away and was very friendly and attentive. He was later joined with another bartender, and she was very nice as well. Their happy hour menu is awesome. There's a little of everything as far as drinks, and a good assortment of snacks. Some snacks were on the regular menu, some not. My husband had a couple beers and an old fashioned, which he enjoyed. I had the Bee Sting, which went down a little too easy, and the Malbec. We also ordered the grit fritters and corn dogs. Corn dogs were good - nothing special. The grit fritters are a must though. Flavorful sauces, but didn't taste heavy. We ended up getting the brussel sprouts and chicken meatballs off the regular menu also. Love that they actually had chicken meatballs and not just red meat. If we lived in the area, it would be a regular happy hour spot for sure. Enjoyed the food and service. Entrees and salads looked good - just were too full to try. Everything was so tasty and excellent. We licked our plates clean. Meat is cooked well and to your asking. Sandwich and burger both had excellent bread. The steak had great flavor. You brought me a huge carafe for which I was charged $6.50! I only wanted a cup of coffee. Sorry I dinged you on the rip off, but I did ask you about the coffee, and you blew me off. I'm assuming you didn't feel well and didn't want to be working on Sunday, which I understand. If not, you never once smiled the entire meal. The breakfast menu starts around $20. I didn't expect to pay close to $30. Note to others -- coffee costs $6.50. And there's a reason why the price is not on the menu. We love Whiskey cake and have been coming here just about every Saturday morning for brunch for months now with our last visit here being 12/9/23 and they did not disappoint. The staff here are very friendly from the time you walk in until you are ready to leave. We always sit at the bar because we have a favorite bartender, her names Lyndsey and she's been there since before we started going there. Depending what time you go it could be easy to find a seat at the bar, it's a good size bar too and they recently got new bar seats that are nicer than the last ones! We can be somewhat creatures of habit going to some of our favorite places and this is one of them. We always order the farmer's breakfast and Lyndsey always says hi, and ask if we are doing our usual. I keep saying one day I'm going to change my order but why mess up a good thing. The food here has always been consistently good, comes out hot and tastes delicious! I always get cranberry mimosas! I may do a mimosa flight when we later today. They also have amazing bloody Mary's and lots of craft cocktails too. It's also a nice place to watch sports while you eat, or hang out with your family and friends, have some drinks and enjoy the atmosphere! They also take reservations here too. There was a vegetarian plate, but it didn't sound appetizing and the side that came with the roast chicken was mouth watering: butternut squash farro!
