I have not been inside a Walmart in 10 years. You'll note that coincidentally times fairly closely toTarget's major expansion, however even prior to Target, I went to Walmart ONLY when there were no other options. Or at 6 AM before the usual cretins crawled out from whatever rock they'd slept under, before they glowed eerily green below the harsh lighting while browsing cheap kitchenware and an entire store inventory built with what seems to be the sole purpose of tipping our total trade balance toward Chinese imported goods. Yep. That entire paragraph above makes me a self-involved, arrogant, aggrandizing bitch. I'm OK with that. Today, I ran into an emergency - the sink liner I had been using needed to be replaced. I had put off this task repeatedly. My own fault. So, I promised today would be the day I would come home with a new one, before I did further damage to the sink with my heavy pots and pans. Within close range of my office in the few minutes I could spare today to run out, the Linens-n-Things is virtually decimated, the Target is under construction, and I didn't think I had enough time to get in and out of the mall (that should have actually been my first option, as I like the Williams-Sonoma in the Brea Mall.) But nooooOOOOOoooo (said like Mouth in the Goonies, while taunting Brand about his lack of a drivers' license) - I pass Walmart. And I think - well, this is kind of a nice area - maybe this one is different. Let me save you that mistake -- it's not. Cheap merchandise, total disorganization, and a "speedy" line that took over 15 minutes, with only 3 people in front of me. Couldn't find what I was looking for - because including a SINK LINER with "Wastebaskets" makes sense vs. with AN ENTIRE AISLE called "Sink Accessories...." And an odd smell throughout the whole store. Hmmm, I don't know what to call it - perhaps flop sweat? I will NEVER never NEVER again enter this establishment. Nor will I ever doubt my first instinct again. Sad. "Live better" indeed - that's a ballsy slogan for a company like this. read more

OMG this place was a madhouse when I was there! My friend who had just moved to Brea, needed some things. While I avoid Walmarts at all costs in CA, where we come from, Walmart is where you can get everything, so that's why she wanted to go to a Walmart. This was was no different from any other I"ve been to since moving to CA. It was jam packed full of people on a Saturday afternoon, which is good for business, but not great for customers. People pushing and shoving everywhere. Children running around without their parents. Mass chaos, as far as I'm concerned. One very strange thing about this particular Walmart was that they did not have any fresh food. When we walked in, we saw the freezer cases and I guess we assumed that since most Walmarts have a grocery section, that this one would too. Again, a one-stop-shop, right? W-R-O-N-G. So, after going through every aisle with my friend, getting the things she needed to setup house, we wanted to get some fresh produce and odds and ends. Let's just say we were out of luck! We even asked and the associate said that they only had the frozen food section. That was Strike Three as far as I'm concerned. Strike One: Claustrophobic, narrow aisles and unhelpful store clerks Strike Two: People pushing and shoving and children running around everywhere Strike Three: No fresh food Don't get me wrong, I'm not against people or children. And I understand that the actions of customers is no the responsibility of the store. But Come On! WAL-MART... in Brea is much better than MANY other Wal-Marts in the Southern California area. I've taken my cars (I had two) here for basic oil changes and tire rotations. The staff was VERY friendly and fast. I appreciate one of the gentlemen who checked my car in, he made his attempt to upsell me to change my air filter, but later admitted that it all it needed was to be cleaned, which he took care of. The inside, nothing spectacular.. You walk in the main entrance, the greeters are always pleasant. You immediately see the customer service counter, bathrooms, then a NAIL SHOP, which shares a wall with a McDonalds. I completely agree with GeeG J., "Eating french fries with the smell of acrylic is not so great. " But i guess some people dont mind. I do get most of my dog supplies from this Wal-Mart, they have the cutest shirts (always on sale). And my puppies LOVE the wet/CEASARS food which, this particular Wal-Mart is has the widest variety of flavors at the LOWEST prices I've seen. read more

I've never had such a horrible experience at a store before. I've worked in retail and foods and understand that it can get stressful at times but there is no need to be rude to customers who are actually nice to you, or any customers at all. So a friend of mine was kind enough to purchase something I needed for school for me online and all I had to do was pick it up. For some reason, the Walmarts by my house don't have pick up locations i guess? I had to go to this one. I went to the back to the pick up location and there were two other women waiting there. They told me the man who was helping them went to go assist another guest really fast. About 10 minutes later we were still standing there so finally one of the ladies goes to find him. She came back a few minutes later and told us he was working the cash register in electronics. When she told him we were still waiting he said he couldn't leave since there was no other cashier. Finally after about another 10-15 minutes, a lady who had just came off her lunch stopped to help us. The guy could have at least called someone to the back if he couldn't leave the register and knew people were waiting. Anyways. I went up to collect my item and they said it wasn't in stock and I should have received and email and refund. The refund hadn't gone through to my friend yet and she hadn't received an email. I was annoyed but like I said, I work in customer service and didn't think it right to take it out on anyone. I went to the front to customer service to ask if maybe they could just transfer the purchase to another store or perhaps just check if any stores around them had the item in stock. The girl was very helpful. Then, the guy who was supposed to be in the back pick up location came to the front to talk to the people working. He tells me, with a very rude tone I might add, that I am in the wrong location and need to go to the back. I told him I was already back there but was checking if maybe they have it in stock at a near by store. He continues to speak to me like I'm stupid and like I'm being annoying. I don't think my request was all that hard and he wasn't even the one helping me. Needless to say, I've never raised my voice at anyone working anywhere before until that moment. On top of that, there was a line behind me and he and the other customer service lady were standing there talking about health benefits......while there was a line..... I just don't get it. This is actually one of the nicest and the cleanest Walmart's that I have been to. The parking lot is huge and there are lots of other stores nearby. The only issue I've found with parking is during the holidays. The greeting staff is always pleasant but their customer service needs a little work otherwise. Otherwise the store is always pretty clean and I don't usually have to wait in the lines for too long. I'd rather take my business to Target, but Walmart's prices are usually better. read more

This is for the Tire and Lube Express located in the rear of the store. I needed a replacement tire mounted and installed on my truck. Walmart actually had the lowest price I could find on the tire and it was at the store a couple of days sooner than I was originally told, which was a nice bonus. I stopped-in on a Thursday evening and found a couple of guys in the early 20's who seemed happier to stand around talk than they were to work, however there was an older man (I didn't catch his name, sorry) who was friendly, knowledgeable and was able to get the lazy guys working on installing my tire quickly. I was in and out in less than 45 minutes and may come-back when I have other tire needs. read more

I asked why and she said she is not on the clock. She then calls some other employee and he said he can't help me because he was also not on the clock. This Walmart is located in Brea and I like that it is well lit when you come in but as your head towards the back it gets a little bit gloomy and darker. I like to order my online prints and pick them up at this store. I have brought all 4 of my vehicles to receive oil changes at this location for over 2 years, never have I had an issue with their mechanics or the work they do, until yesterday. I dropped my car off for a simple oil change just before 10am. When I returned at 5pm to pick up my vehicle, the AC wasn't blowing air out of any of the vents in my entire car. I have never had an AC issue with the vehicle ever. I'm following up with their claims department to get answers now and I speak to the most rude claims representative named Eram and he doesn't seemed at all concerned about my vehicle or what I have to say and tells me it is probably wear and tear damage on the car.. My suggestion is don't bring your vehicle to get any work done here b/c after they break something they shouldn't even be touching, they will say it is wear and tear damage. read more

Cleanest and most organized wallyworld I've been to ever! Was greeted by an associate and asked if I needed help as I walked from the entrance to the back of the store which is a plus in my book. What I was here for: Toys and store pickup area Sierra and Adrienne that were in toys were very helpful when I say that I mean x 10! I come to this store for a Jojo Siwa my life as a doll and knew I would be taking a chance as it was limited stock on their website. But Adrienne found their last one for my daughter thank the maker! Sierra was kind enough to let Adrienne know that my daughter was next to me so that my husband can take her else in the store so that I could checkout with it. First off Walmart, you have the WORST service ever! Target is way more "nicer" than you. So one story is that we went to buy a Christmas tree (4 to 5 feet) and all the small ones were white so one was 5 feet we grabbed it and the box had a big dent in the side and we asked for a new one that was not damaged but the guy had to ask the manager, then the old "cranky" manager came over and we asked AGAIN to get a new NOT damaged box and she said "it will be fine" we asked for $25 off but she said "No" so we're like forget it and we left. This Walmart is near my work and if I need any auto cleaning supplies, this is where I come. This Walmart is relatively clean compared to other Walmart. Honestly one of the worst, sorry - WORST experiences I've ever had regarding customer service. When I remember her name I'll update this if possible, but I came to return a few items that were still in the original packaging with the receipt attached and she had all but given me the cash back when she noticed my license (not expired) had a NM address on a CA DL, accused me of fraud so I brought my birth certificate, my marriage license and to top it off-my original social security card to prove to her it's possible to have an out of state address as a CA resident, they were 100% dismissive saying I forged these too. So I had my BF do the return some 30 min later and her and her oworkers were talking sh*t about me.. Something I'm very capable of suing for, slander. Gawd awful, avoid at all costs. Be careful when you make any purchases at the Brea WalMart! Three times I have purchased items and after getting home realized that the items had been returned by a previous customer and they were just put back on the shelf. One example from yesterday - bought weather stripping for the front door and the package states that it is 17 feet long... started to install on the front door and measured it... it was only 8 feet long! Another example - bought a 32" TV and got it home only to find that the screws were not included for the base. When I called electronics to see if they could give me the screws from another TV (so I wouldn't have to package it back up, take it downstairs, put it in the car and drive back there), I was told that they would "sell" me the screws I need????? What??? Be careful or better yet, avoid them. read more

Let me first start by saying, YES, I am a Target girl but I gave Walmart a chance. Especially since it's closer to my work, and often times cheaper, I had high hopes (as high as you can get with Walmart). It's prett y messy, but it doesn't really seem to be a priority with the employees to tidy up a little, and considering I've learned how Walmart treats its employees I can't blame them too much. What I CAN blame them for is their awful customer service. Don't want to pick up all the tiny GI Joe's in the toy aisle? Fine. Don't feel like refolding tea towels in home goods? They look the same folded and unfolded, so it's cool. But being rude and completely useless when a customer politely asks for something? Not okay. I came looking for a foldable drying rack, so naturally I headed towards housewares. I checked the aisle with ironing boards and hangers, where a drying rack would be. I couldn't find any. So after finally tracking down an employee (I swear they hide) he suggested, "try housewares." I said, "I checked the aisle with ironing boards and stuff, I didn't see any." He responds, "try again, they should be there." So being a believer in magic, fairies, and house elves, I tried again and looked more carefully. No luck. I asked a second employee and she says very curtly, "well did you try home goods? It should be between aisles 10-20." Well THANK YOU, for your very specific location and for your obliging condescending tone. I have a degree in engineering, I think I would have checked house wares by now. I even checked the area with fabric, thread and sewing machines to no avail. Finally, my patience wearing thin, I asked a third employee who was kind enough to walk with me to the aisle in question, informed that they should be there and that she would go check the back. She came back with three drying racks for me to choose from and I paid and was on my way. Needless to say, I probably won't be back unless I'm really in a rush and can't make the extra three minute drive to Target. Target, I love you and I'll never do that to you again. read more
