Would give this store ZERO stars if we could. My husband and I ordered a grill from acehardware.com, which lets you choose your delivery date. It's been a week since our chosen delivery date has passed, as this local Placentia store states they didn't have anyone to assemble our grill in time for that date. (They didn't call to inform us of the delay, we had to call the store to inquire ourselves.) We spoke to Mike, who told us the assembler would be in the next Wednesday and that the grill would be delivered that Friday. The best they could give us was a delivery window of 12-4pm, so my husband stayed home from work to wait for the delivery. He called the store to make sure it was coming that day, and the store representative confirmed that yes! it was coming and the delivery guy had already left the store en route with grill. Turns out the delivery guy didn't come. My husband called the store AGAIN and they then told us that we're now scheduled for Sunday. Great... now we get to waste Father's Day waiting around at home for our delivery. Our delivery date has now changed 3 times! Why even give the customer the opportunity to choose a delivery date if you can't honor their choice?? Why are the people answering the phones at this local store so clueless and incompetent?? All they've done is give us the runaround. All my future business will be going to Home Depot or Lowe's from now on!! This place has done nothing but waste our time. I generally like shopping at Ace Hardware stores and normally have a positive experience, especially at the stores that have been around a long time. I thought I give this location another chance. The past visits were below average. I ordered and paid for two simple products online to pick up. When I arrived to a near empty store I approved a staff member standing around not doing anything. He directed me to talk to the cashier already helping a guess with another issue. I eventually got to speak to the cashier who said my order was cancelled because it was not available. When I ordered the two items, there were four available. My order was confirmed for pick up. When I asked the staff (only one staff could be found helping customers) he told me to check a specific isle. There was not anything that resembled what I was looking for on that aisle. I found a second person standing around, not helping anyone, and asked him what isle I might find what I'm looking for. He told me the isle number and as I got to the isle, he later told me another isle number. I eventually found what I was looking for on the endcap. It was the exact items I ordered, and just like the website said, there were 4 on hand. I know each store is independently owned. My experience at many ACE hardware stores around the Country have been very positive. The staff at many of the stores were very well trained, had great customer service and were very knowledgeable. This store was not one of them. Another unfortunate experience. I think all they need is to hire experienced and knowledgeable employees. If they can't do that, I think staff training would be valuable. I think I'll avoid the headache and go to the ACE stores I know, trust and have confidence in. read more

Ace Hardware is located on Rose Dr off of Yorba Linda Blvd. It is easy to locate and access. Parking is plentiful. We came in at the beginning of the month for a live Christmas tree since Costco no longer sells them (sad, but true). The trees were in a designated area in the parking lot. They had a bigger selection as far as variety goes and prices posted were reasonable. No one was manning the "tree lot", so we had to go into the store to ask for assistance. The guy was helpful and professional and opened up a couple of tied trees for us to inspect. Once we chose a tree, he cut down the bottom branches and trunk and encapsulated the whole thing in netting for the drive home. Although I was sad when Costco stopped carrying live trees, I'm SO glad I found the Ace Hardware "tree lot"! This tree, although as expected, dried up eventually, the branches stayed perky up until we took Christmas down. There's something so sad about a crispy & droopy tree! This Ace Hardware location is one of the biggest locations I have ever visited, for an Ace. Turns out that this location is corporate, while I had been visiting franchises most of my life. So with that being said, if you purchase something from a franchise, obviously, one could only return the items back to the franchise. If you purchase items from this location, you can only return them to corporate locations. I needed a few items before my handyman was coming but only a couple were available at my local franchise, and the others were available here. It was easy to place store pick-up items with both locations and I was able to pick them all up easy peasy. Since I was at the store, it was easy also to locate a few more items I needed. The aisles are fully stocked and neatly organized. If you need help locating an item, there are very friendly associates (with red vests) around. Out of the items I purchased, I only needed a few of them, so I returned to the store to return a few items. Turns out, if you bought an item in the store, you can return them at the register, but if you bought an item online, one would need to go to the other register (where the keys are), where an associate can help with the returns. There are so many items to view and shop here. Ace even had items that were not readily available at the orange store (which I shop at often as well) - which would have required me to purchase and wait for shipping for the items to arrive. Since I needed the items within a day, Ace Hardware had them readily available! The store was brightly lit and I would most definitely return. I too got screwed at this branch. After confirming online that they had not one but two tool carts in stock, I paid for a unit online and when on my merry way to some place called Placenta to retrieve my cart. What I expected to be a simple mundane tasked turned out to be a big to do thanks to the incompetence hopefully unique to this location. After sifting through a few levels of employees, someone finally figured out that it was in the back. Turns out the truth was that they didn't have it. What they rolled out from the back was a banged up sorry looking, obvious floor sample, replete with the manufacturer's floor advertising materials. They presented it to me unapologetically as if nothing was amiss. When I inquired about getting a new one, they said this is all we have as I was confused. I asked about the 2 that were, and currently still are, listed as being available at this store, they claimed that they just now updated the system. As of this writing, it very clearly still lists 2 available for pick up now at this location. That's when the manager type asks the associate if they had called me to inform me that this is all they had. Without missing a beat, the associate snapped that he did and that my phone number was listed in their system as not accepting calls. Unless their system is glitching yet again, that was an outright lie. Defeated, I asked them to cancel the order and they looked at me like I had two heads. 2 hours of my day gone thanks to a bunch of incompetents. Service ZERO Value ZERO overall ZERO Walked in two young girls behind the counter (cashiers) and one older woman (sales floor) person having a conversation. Everything is locked up even low dollar items. Walked around the whole floor no one to be found , finally decided to interrupt their conversation (loud conversation). I asked for help, and got instant attitude " yeah what do you need" with eye rolls from both the young females when I asked for help unlocking something for me to buy. All I got was more attitude and no assistance. Waited another employee walked in and helped me. When I went to pay more attitude and the sale floor employee female walked away to waste time else where. And the two young females - continued to be super rude. Will not be returning to this location (1st time) will drive the extra 10 minutes to Fullerton location. Check for yourself they will effortless help and answer questions you didn't even know you needed to ask. This location - free to check yourself too lol go in and get attitude. Hey, this place is finally open in the spot occupied by the old Big Lots store! Pay close attention and you can even notice it's the same old floor. All the scuffs are still there. But everything else looks different! They have a decent selection of garden supplies and paint and various hardware items that you might need for a home project. Are they as expansive as Home Depot? No. But, for me, much closer. And they have almost anything I could think of that I'd need for small household projects. Not lumber though. Customer service was great. There seems to be several staff members walking around, and they were asking folks if they needed help. The woman who was the cashier when I made a purchase was friendly. I bought a gallon of Benjamin Moore paint there and it cost $8 more per gallon (plus tax), than the one I had bought the previous day at the Fullerton store on Commonwealth. The clerk said it's because this is a corporate store and the one in Fullerton is a franchise store. It can really add up for a big paint job, so consider going to the Fullerton store. read more

Linda Rodriguez, the store manager, and her assistant loaded three propane tanks into my truck. While I was inside paying for fuel, they decided to lift the tailgate instead of properly securing the ratchet strap into the truck bed. Then, for reasons only they could explain, they closed the tailgate onto the strap, crushing it between the truck bed body and the tailgate. This careless move caused significant damage to both the truck bed and the tailgate. When I came outside and went to close the tailgate, I was greeted with the sight of the strap wedged tightly in the gap, the tailgate hanging loosely by the safety cables, and clear signs of damage. My first reaction was, "Wait, they did this and just... walked away?" It was like watching someone knock over a glass of milk and then casually stroll out of the room, pretending nothing happened. I walked back into the store and told the girl at the register what I had discovered. I wasn't asking for the manager or making a scene, just letting her know. I walked out to my truck and a moment later, Linda appeared, apparently summoned to handle the situation. That is when things took a turn for the absurd. Now, to be clear, my truck is a beater. I wasn't looking for a remedy or trying to establish legal liability as it was clearly self evident. I only brought the issue up to spare other customers from a similar hassle. However, when I approached Linda about it, her response was nothing short of gaslighting. She flatly denied any involvement, repeatedly insisting, "It wasn't us," as though those words alone could rewrite reality. The strap had been lying loose on the tailgate when I left it, and basic physics makes it obvious it couldn't have wedged itself between the bed and bumper without someone lifting the tailgate. Yet Linda clung to her denial with the stubbornness of a child caught red-handed, turning a straightforward conversation into a showcase of immaturity. Her denial left me more baffled than anything else, so I asked, "Who is your supervisor?" With the misplaced overconfidence of a kid showing off a macaroni necklace, Linda puffed up and proudly declared, "I am!" Then I asked her again, "No, who is your supervisor?" After three go-arounds, she finally muttered, "I'll write it down for you," then disappeared into the back of the store. Unsurprisingly, she never came back. Standing there, I couldn't help but feel like I was waiting for a kid who promises to clean their room but is actually hiding under the bed. Sensing the conversation was getting tense, In an attempt to diffuse the situation with a polite "hun." In the South, where I am from, it is a warm, disarming term. It is how we soften conversations, not escalate them. But Linda wasn't having it. She immediately snapped, "Don't call me hun," with a tone so defensive it felt like I had just struck a nerve. It was as if the word triggered some unresolved paternal issues, and instead of addressing the problem, she latched onto it as an excuse to attack me with feigned indignation. The whole thing felt like one of those help desk encounters where the person behind the counter is just waiting for you to say the wrong thing so they can use it as a reason to stop helping. While I waited, I chatted with her staff, who were refreshingly candid and subtly hinted that dealing with Linda's antics wasn't unusual. One employee's perfectly timed eye-roll spoke volumes. The entire ordeal was just absurd. Linda's gaslighting, her refusal to acknowledge basic physics, and her laughable attempt to cover up her mistake turned a minor issue into a comedy of errors. One thing is for sure. I wouldn't trust her near my truck or anyone else's again. Four gold stars for the team. Zero stars for Linda. read more

DO NOT BUY SCREWS HERE. Every screw I've purchased at this Ace has broken; either the threads have torn or the head has sheared off. I've never had this happen with any other screws. Only the ones from this Ace. The ones where the head sheared off were going into a $50 monitor stand. Now the stand is worthless and I'm out $50 because of two 17 cent screws. Otherwise, the selection and staff are good. I'm glad the store is here. I just wish they hadn't cut corners on their fasteners. read more

I was so looking forward to NOT having to drive to Home Depot but after three attempts to buy something here, never again! 1. Staff is not trained! They don't have any knowledge of the tools, have no idea what does what and can't tell you where anything is located! 2. Staff gets defensive when you question their answers. 3. Return policy stinks! I can return anything to Home Depot at anytime and as long as I have the credit card used, they will accept the return. Not this place! 4. I typically love going into any and all Ace Hardware Stores because the customer service is outstanding. However, at this location at Rose Dr and Yorba Linda Blvd, the service just doesn't exist. I have given thos store four chances. Typically the items I want are locked up so I need to request help. Four times now I have waited next to the locked up items after requesting assistance. Just now, after waiting 20 minutes after my request for help at padlocks, I was looked at by staff while waiting. No one had any interest in helping. They walked by multiple times and didn't even acknowledge me. Despite me asking politely if they were able to help me with padlocks, no answer. They didn't even acknowledge me. I give Ace Hardware quite a bit of business throughout the years. It's always been my go to store. With this location only a mile from my home, it's a shame I can no longer shop here. I had a full cart of stuff I needed. I needed help with the last two items. Since there was absolutely zero interest in helping me I just left my cart and walked out. Pathetic read more

Boys are excited to see Ace Hardware coming closer to my house. I finally got to go today and it was the worst experience in any store I've had in a long time as I store an employee almost knocked me over to get in the store first. Then I try getting some help with some nuts and bolts and they seem to know what I was looking for. I finally found them, but the worst part was I got the register the girl kind of chewed me out and was very rude because I didn't have the pricing on all the bolts, i'm pretty grumpy in general. not my job price items. If they need me to know the price they should have some to write it down with. It was gonna be so nice to have a quick place to stop in instead of going to the big warehouse stores. I went to this location today to get a new car key made. Ryan was super friendly and eager to help. I had all the components so he told me I only needed to purchase the key, get it cut, and then transfer over the fob. The key seemed to work until I tried to turn on my car and it wouldn't start. I tried calling Toyota for assistance and was told there was nothing anyone at a place like that could do and I would need to come in and pay over $470 to get it fixed. Ryan spent over an hour working on my key, trouble shooting, making calls and was finally able to get it to work when he figured out there was a second component he had to transfer over. He was so very nice and kept apologizing even though none of it was his fault. I can't even begin to thank him for his patience and care! Most people would have said sorry nothing we can do and maybe offer a refund but Ryan made sure that he did everything he could to help me out! Thank you read more
