On two separate occasions within the past month, while utilizing the self-checkout system, the same employee has intervened by physically displacing me without verbal communication and proceeding to operate the screen, specifically selecting the "apply for a Home Depot credit card" option, subsequently gesturing for me to complete the application. In both instances, I reprimanded the individual, instructing them not to interact with the screen without my explicit permission and to refrain from attempting to coerce me into applying for a Home Depot credit card. This practice is highly unethical and potentially more severe. For customers, it is imperative that you do not permit any employee to operate the self-checkout machine without your express consent. You are entitled to complete your transactions with privacy and without being misled into applying for credit. Do not allow them to interact with the screen unless they explain their intended actions and you provide consent. To management, I respectfully request that you cease promoting this particular practice. It is unethical. Please discontinue this behavior. Note also that Home Depot often utilizes an automated response system for addressing issues on Yelp across numerous stores. The reply is nearly identical on all low-rating posts and requests the user to allocate additional time and visit a disguised URL. This does not constitute customer service nor is it appropriate in this context. However, neither is attempting to manipulate customers into applying for credit! read more

On April 14. 2026, I went to buy a window air conditioner @ The Home Depot in Brea CA, Sal and Albaro were so helpful to find the right bracket ac support even explaining to me how to install it myself. Also i'd like to commend Jasmin at the check out counter assisting me to apply for a home depot credit card I got approved and got a nice discount On April 18, I had to return the AC as i needed a bigger BTU, Roman at the return counter was so professional in helping me out get a replacement online making sure all my information are correct and getting back my original discount. She was efficient and cut and dry with the charges and delivery options. We then bought some other items and the check our area was self check out counters, with no dedicated cashiers. Overall a good visit. Update- they tell you the night before delivery the time frame, And it's a 4 hour window. They made me buy the hose lines, although I didn't need them. They threatened to not hook up the washer if I didn't spend $36 for the lines, although installation was supposedly free. Hmm. My guy went to pick a water heater (that was ordered and paid for via Prosupportvip) up at 3pm and the order was not ready. The customer service rep said that everything was on the top shelf and needed a forklift to bring it down. Then I came back at 7pm and Aiden and Pablo helped me bring it down from the top shelf. I showed your customer service Dora this receipt and she accused me of not paying for this. Cesar from Prosupportvip already charged me for this and things got even more heated when Nina got involved. I asked for Raul who was the Manager/ Supervisor and Dora said Raul is nobody at Home Depot and that he cannot assist me. Then Halie butt into my business and told me to calm down. Mary the Manager on Duty said I can ask for Raul. Why is it that Dora, Halie and Nina treats customers like crap? Raul was the one that brought the same water heater that was brought down from the top shelf. Raul is the department manager in another department and it on the way up the ladder so it is not cool for Dora to disrespect him. Syed, Allan, Mike, Anna, Dom, Roman, Gus, Raul, and Jason are very good and have always treated me with respect. Mary said that this store needs to train Dora, Halie and Nina better and will counsel Dora. In fact, Nina is always rude and grumpy and is racist towards me and other Asian customers'. I went in to pick up a toilet I ordered online. Home Depot's website had a larger selection of toilets than Lowe's & prices were pretty comparable. I didn't want to get a toilet from Costco Direct, Amazon, or Wayfair because I read horror stories about people unable to return a big, heavy toilet online! I ordered 2 toilets, but unfortunately, the 2nd toilet is delayed & won't arrive for another 4 days. Eek! Austin in Customer Service was SO great - he promptly greeted me & offered to help. He wheeled out my boxed toilet on a cart, ready to go. I explained I wanted to open it to make sure there are no cracks, damage, missing parts, etc. I didn't want to get this bulky, heavy thing home & unpack it just to repack it & bring it right back. He helped open it for me & checked it out with me! He also told me we can return it if we get it home & find something wrong at that point. Super friendly & accommodating! I went to the paint dept next. Maybe I haven't been there in a while, but they have a pretty cool touchscreen device to help with finding colors, color coordinating, etc. The paint guys were friendly, efficient, & even offered me paint stirrers & a metal can opener before I left with my $40 can of Behr paint. I run a construction business and shop at Home Depot multiple times a day across Orange County. Unfortunately, the Brea location consistently feels like it doesn't have a functioning Pro Desk. The line at the registers next to the Pro Desk is often 8-10 customers deep while staff stand nearby instead of helping move the line along. As a contractor on a tight schedule, that lost time adds up quickly. On top of that, Pro Loaders are frequently unavailable when needed, which makes larger material pickups inefficient. I'd really like to see better support for contractors at this location -- quicker assistance at busy times and more reliable loader availability would make a big difference. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this location, specifically with an employee named Nico. When I asked for help finding an item, he seemed disinterested and unmotivated. Instead of assisting me, he gave vague directions and quickly walked away. Customer service is a huge part of why I choose certain stores over others, and unfortunately, this visit left a bad impression. I expect staff to be at least somewhat engaged and willing to assist and that wasn't the case here. Hopefully, management addresses this. read more

This location on imperial hwy has been here for over 15 years (based on how long I've been going) and it has always been consistent. The aisles are always well kept, there are usually plenty of employees that you can flag down for help, and their garden options are always so plentiful.
