In both instances, I reprimanded the individual, instructing them not to interact with the screen without my explicit permission and to refrain from attempting to coerce me into applying for a Home Depot credit card. This practice is highly unethical and potentially more severe. For customers, it is imperative that you do not permit any employee to operate the self-checkout machine without your express consent. You are entitled to complete your transactions with privacy and without being misled into applying for credit. Do not allow them to interact with the screen unless they explain their intended actions and you provide consent. To management, I respectfully request that you cease promoting this particular practice. It is unethical. Please discontinue this behavior. Note also that Home Depot often utilizes an automated response system for addressing issues on Yelp across numerous stores. The reply is nearly identical on all low-rating posts and requests the user to allocate additional time and visit a disguised URL. This does not constitute customer service nor is it appropriate in this context. However, neither is attempting to manipulate customers into applying for credit!

The folks in-store at the point-of-sale are very helpful and the representative from LG (can't…read moreremember her name, unfortunately) was super! I purchased a washer/ dryer, and I had previously purchased 4 other appliances from them. The delivery and installation, though was a big disappointment. The guys were rude and lazy and obviously wanted to leave before they even started the project. When we unhooked the water from the old washer, there was a very slow drip from the hot water faucet. The installers then refused to do any work, including final assembly of the washer and dryer parts, and just left the stacked units in the middle of my garage saying I would get a refund. My contract shows a ~$50 "value" of installation, but that it is included for free. In this case, that only means there is nothing to refund and so after contacting Sean at the store, I found myself stuck assembling and installing them by myself with no compensation. These things are extremely heavy once stacked, and so moving them into place by myself was very difficult and, frankly, dangerous. It is unfortunate that bad field representation can ruin an otherwise very positive experience, but the people that actually come into my private home are really the most crucial in the process. Being insulted in my own home ruined an otherwise fine in-store experience, and so I will be more selective in the future with a retailer that sees the customer service process through to the end.

I am a Do-it-yourselfer and restore a lot of cool old antiques…read more I did my research online before visiting Dunn Edwards and found I wanted their "Straight to metal" paint. I took a piece of the antique with me to the store. I was helped as soon as I walked in, and they color matched the piece perfectly. The paint went on easy and settled on the piece beautifully. I couldn't be happier, and since the store is just around the corner, I will be back.

Attended the Woodworking 101 class on a Sunday. Four students. Starts on time. I was 2 minutes…read morelate and the class had already started. Class was almost 5.5 hours long, not the 4 hours as advertised. No where to sit. Stood the entire time. No breaks. If you wanted to use the restroom, you went and missed a small portion of the class. Instructor David was very knowledgeable about all aspect of the class. Venue was good and all tools were good. Instructor spent ALOT of time talking about wood, as might be expected. Talked about the parts of trees, stresses in wood as it grows, sawed into lumber, dryed, used for projects in the shop. Talked about the grain patterns and direction, cell, fiber, and pore structure, how to grade lumber. We each made a small project that used a joiner, thickness planer, tablesaw, miter saw and router. Good instruction on what these tools are used for, how to safely use these tools; except for the router. Little discussion about the router. I would have liked some discussion on other tools such as bandsaw, drill press, sanders, and less discussion on wood. Overall a good class worth the money.

My experience with the store itself was frustrating, but Adrian completely changed my experience…read more I needed a replacement remote for a ceiling fan I purchased earlier this year. While in the store purchasing two pendants, I asked for help. The salesperson couldn't locate the remote and said he would follow up later that day. Crickets. I called, was told Monday, and again--crickets. Today, I called again and had an amazing experience because Adrian Brunen picked up the phone. He asked me to send him a photo of the fan and model number. Within 30 minutes, he called me back and we ordered the replacement remote over the phone. Adrian is a stockroom supervisor, but he is so much more than that. He is customer-service oriented, a doer, a fixer, solution-oriented, a critical thinker, and genuinely committed to helping people. He handled everything with grace and professionalism. What impressed me most was that he never once made excuses or mentioned the challenges with the new system, even though I had heard about them during my store visit. My experience with the process may not be something I would give five stars, but Adrian absolutely deserves five stars and recognition. People like Adrian are valuable. He represents what great customer service should look like, and I hope Lamps Plus recognizes his contribution and gives him every opportunity to grow.
