I had the best time at Rockler mainly in part due to Dan. Maybe he could tell I didn't know much of what I was doing but he stopped what he was doing and asked if he could help me find what I was looking for. Much like everyone else's experience, he spent the time to share his knowledge and expertise and I learned a great deal. He also gave me a ton of peace of mind of if what I bought didn't work out I could bring the materials all back in the same bag and they could reseal it. He even printed out the instructions for me even though they're on the website. Above and beyond to say the least. I don't know the full story for the people who said customer service was horrible and what not but a footnote is that I happened to be there at a slower point in the day, around 4:30 pm on a Monday. Even so, I'm almost certain customer service was negative for those people because the workers were so intentionally helping others and some people can't be more patient and understanding. 10 out of 10 would recommend Rockler to others. read more

They make it so hard to do a pick up order, avoid doing pick up order, the customer service horrible, they were rude, honestly it's better to buy it in another store or location, because this one, extremely rude, they make us feel like we never have ordered online. We took the end grain cutting board and make a knife classes this weekend and had an incredible time. David and Rudy were so great and we learned a lot through this hands on experience. This is a place that both has the coolest things and the nicest, most helpful staff! I'm just ok in working artistically in wood projects. I'm usually going in to check out the scrap bin for deals on exotic wood for my custom hand made knives. That for that alone the deals and the service get them 4.5 stars. Recently I started two projects that go way beyond that. Im making a cun carriage for an 1841 mountain howitzer. Traditional the carriage is made of white oak and walnut. Thran, the assistant manager went above and beyond in helping find the pieces of white oak and walnut that I needed. And Robert helped me price it out so I didn't break the bank. This place is a gem. I've purchased from them twice now and both times I purchased some Festool tools, a Delta sander and Router. The place is clean, nicely laid out, and customer service is fantastic. This may be my new go to place when I need more Festool's or hardwoods. Nice selection of other tools and parts. I know more women are getting into woodworking but its still a guys thing however i've been doing it for 40 years and i still feel a little intimidated going into stores like this but just like the Pasadena store i felt very comfortable in this store with women working there and one guy asking if i needed help. I came here looking for a specific kind of jig and while they had some in stock, it wasn't quite what I was looking for. As far as courses, I highly recommend it. I wish there was more courses for kids or teenagers or parent and kid. I recently took a course a mom and kid and it was great! went by fast. I hope they open up more so my son can learn more about hand on. read more

Went to Rockler in Orange, CA to assist me in setting up one of their router lifts. The young lady spent a great deal of time setting it up of me: adjusting, putting in router in correctly, etc. Very happy with her assistance. I'm glad that are a few woodworking store in So. Some of the guys working there are decent and they're helpful. If you try to return anything watch what they're doing very carefully because they will inevitably make a mistake which will cause you to have to go back to the store and stand there for an hour while they fix it. You will also get the brow beating for daring to come return it to them. They will let you know that they're so nice they'll do it this one time blah blah blah. Overall just a better idea to go to their online store and skip the bullshit of this store. I've given them several chances and they've let me down almost every time. Bought a pressure pot, and wanted to use the in-store $50 coupon discount. The discount could not be applied. The reason? For purposes of the coupon, the pressure pot is considered to be a power tool because it's made by power tool company. Power tools are one of the coupon exclusions. Totally disgusted with the horrific customer service I received last week. Went in to get advice and appropriate stain to match my flooring. Brought in a sample of the flooring into the store and the first thing the salesman said after asking if I needed help was" You can't match that! For one thing it it's printed on there" which I replied " I know, but I'd like to try" He proceeded to tell me in very rude manner that there is no way I could do that. They do have a wood finisher that might be able to but he is gone until next year. The way he talked down to me was not acceptable at all. I decided my best course of action was to just leave. He never offered to guide me to any products that I might try. So I left and went to Lowes, where they helped me with my product choice and technique tips. Guess what my project turned out perfect, no thanks to Rocklers. Will not be returning to this store anymore. read more

I never went in because I never had a serious woodworking project where I needed tools I did not have already or I could not get at a big box store with all the other stuff I needed. Then, my son had school project that called for a special tool. I looked at the big box stores; I looked at a lumber yard; I looked on Amazon. No luck anywhere. Rockler was my last hope. Well, Rockler delivered. They had exactly what I needed plus some other cool stuff. Customer service is very good. Workers and customers are observing health and safety guidelines. After my first review here I promptly received a message from Rockler asking about my experience. I really appreciate when a company takes time and really wants to get to the bottom of the issue. I never leave a 1 star review unless I am willing to go back later and see if things have changed, maybe it was on off-day or two. I have since been back to Rockler a number of times and have been very happy with the service received. I do think at times some of the people there may get or appear to be a little impatient with some customer questions but they have been great overall. Very knowledgeable, not pushy and have spent a good deal of time with me answering questions. I have found a lot of things at Rockler that I have put to use and can give an honest recommendation to go here. Take the time to meet some of the people that work here. Good store compared to the other three in the Souther California (Pasadena, Torrance, and in the boonies). If you know what you're doing, what the tools do and how to use them, great. If not the people working there will help you as your gentle, but cranky and bitter grandfather would; kindly but always wondering when you'll cut your fingers, so take their help and wisdom with a grain of salt and go there for the deals. Mike the manager and Rudy need to learn customer service. They lost a loyal customer today telling me I'm wrong and nothing they can do since they don't have control over online returns. I let Rudy know that the tax rate was different and he told me that I needed to go to LA county. I was talked down to and treated like my opinion didn't matter, even with me staying respectful to all of them. I tried telling the manager that he shouldn't treat customers/me that way and he told me my associates are here to back me so I'm not worried since I'm trying to pick a fight. Allen was the only worker that was respectful to me and even as Mike went to the back Allen tried saying sorry for them. Biggest disgrace of service I've ever seen. read more

Took a while for anyone to notice me, granted there were quite a few customers. No problem there. When an older guy did notice me, he dropped what he was doing to come help me, which I really appreciated. I was looking for help on finishes for my already stained table, which the person helping me wasn't as knowledgeable in. No worries, he took me to this Asian guy who supposedly knew more about finishes and was supposed to be able to help. Nope. Guy basically told me that since I wasn't using a brand they carried, he had nothing to offer me since it'd be like prescribing medicine or something to that effect. I was quickly dismissed by the guy and I awkwardly just stood there not knowing what more to do. Came seeking help but I was quickly dismissed by the "expert". The staff there is so knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful that they feel like family. They sell the regular stuff, but they also sell many special and unique tools, gadgets, and other items. Over time, I learned that many products are exclusive to Rockler, who designed and made them especially for woodworkers, crafters, etc. If you are looking for a gift for someone who likes to work with their hands and make stuff, this would be a great place to start. Love this store. I have taken multiple classes, which I have enjoyed, and learned a great deal from. I actually bought my lathe after I took a pen turning class. I now make bowls as well which I've wanted to do since junior high wood shop. I have now expanded even more and make a lot of different items. The employees are very friendly, knowledgeable, and are a great help when I have multiple questions or need help with one of my many projects. The demos they do on Saturdays are also great. Nice place, but prices are retail and not wholesale. So being in the industry, the prices are too high for every day purchases. I only went here because I needed something I couldn't find anywhere else. The staff is very knowledgeable, but slow. I'm house sitting for a rich family with my girlfriend and they have a real nice wood table. Discovered on accident that we filled the table with heat spots from our soup we had for dinner the night before and my girlfriend and I were shitting bricks cause we didnt wanna get in trouble with thie family. Went to Rockler, got help from Lou and he suggested the Mohawk No Blush product to spray on the table. He explained to me how it worked and told me that if it didnt solve my problem to come back and hed help me out with plan B. He was beyond helpful and the store was extremely convenient. I would highly reccomend this store for any woodworking needs. They saved our skins. read more
