I had an extra hour to kill, before going into work on a Monday morning, and knew I needed some groceries from Ralphs. I also knew I needed some toiletry-type items, so I figured since I was nearby, I'd hit the one-stop-shop, Brea Walmart. Aside from the hilarious memes of the "people of Walmart" and the low-income references, this place is pretty darn cool. There are always an abundance of shopping carts available, when you walk in. The guest services desk is located right near the entrance. They can help with returns, sending/receiving money, and more. Restrooms are also located up front, as are drinking fountains, and a McDonald's. The front section usually has advertised specials on seasonal items or products in bulk. Sections are marked clearly with signage above. It's not hard to figure out where clothing, baby, shoes, groceries, and make up are. The store is clean and well-lit. I was pleasantly surprised on how much money I saved, versus my usual grocery bill and even when searching for some items earlier on Amazon. Yipee! I would have given it 5 stars, but some items were out (not as bad as Target's stocking/purchasing) and the cashier's are slow and distracted easily. I know this is CA and we're always in a hurry, but I swear I could have scanned my entire cart in the half the time it took her to do so. There's a line people. Let's move it quicker! The distraction was also annoying. Cashiers, mid-orders would converse with each other and ask managers questions as they passed by. Um, let's focus on me the customer. The one with money! Anyways, I got some newer groceries that Ralphs doesn't carry, some larger packaging which saves, and my bill was greatly reduced. I'll be back. read more

I went in to get dishwasher soap and came across tablets of hydrogen peroxide for dishwashing these are a replacement for the chlorine based wash soaps which are toxic and can cause diseases like Myasthenia ( weakness and eye disorders). So I have bought the new pack to try awesome deal at $6 for 25 tablets. While a large bottle of H202 sells for 0.88 cents. Hydrogen peroxide can kill any germ. read more

Again, this is for the automotive dept. I was planning on getting new tires a little later this year, but alas, things don't go as planned. I woke up this morning to find one of my tires was flat. So, I thought, what the Hell, might as well get some new tires now. I debated on places to go to. Last time I bought my tires was at Pep Boys. I'm kinda hating them because everytime I go there, they say about two hours for whatever I need done. Without fail, it always turns into 4+ hours and they always find "something" else wrong. So, a couple of cars ago, I remember getting tires at Wal Mart. Pretty much everything that Pep Boys offer, they offer too and at the same or better price. Last time with Pep Boys, it cost me about $440 for four new tires and that was with an alleged "Buy 3, get the 4th tire free" deal. Well, I bought four tires this time and it cost me $430 with no deal. Hmmmm...... Anyhow, service was quick. I didn't have to wait to talk to someone to start the paperwork and figure out what tires to get. There was no hard sell and a million BS add ons. The guy told me it would be about an hour to get my new tires on. I came back in about an hour and a half and my car was ready to go. According to the paperwork, it was done in 45 minutes! So, Manny, Moe and Jack can bite me! I'm getting my tires here from now on and I still don't care about whatever controversial business practices Wal Mart has. I had a busted tire and my others ones weren't in great shape either, but Anthony in the tire lube express was awesome. He was really honest and helpful in what I needed and took total care of me. Didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need, he really just cared about my safety with the tires I had on my truck. I think I came by this store about 10 times during my winter break because I would get something...and then forget to get another. There's nothing remarkable about it - just an average Walmart. When I need a copy of a key, it's just easier to get it here. 2 - they have just about everything there. 3 - it's close to home and just easier to get to than Target for me. 4 - it's pretty empty at 8am so it's just easier to park, get what I need, and then leave. read more

So in my opinion this walmart is just your typical walmart. Nothing really special. The one thing I really dont like about this particular location is that it gets really busy and the parking lot fills up quickly. As far as stock is concerned, I usually dont go to walmart to pick up anything in particular, so it usually just a quick stroll through to see if there is anything that I need. Come in the morning on a weekday preferably, before 10 am. This store is a madhouse afterwards and it is impossible to find parking. The parking lot is also extremely dangerous and you are very likely to be run over by some manic coupon clipper trying to find the closest spot to the front door as possible. I panic and break out in cold sweats because people will literally mow you down in their cars out there. Personally you really need to be careful buying products in this store. I went to Walmart recently to get some Nivea body cream and other necessities and had the wherewithal to open up one of the jars before putting it in my cart. Of course, the jar was opened and the foil safety seal lifted! Someone had already stuck their grubby hands in there and presumably 'tested' the product. This is why I go to CVS people... I mainly go to Walmart for laundry detergent and other cleaning supplies, I like their selection but there are days when come in and the laundry section looks like a whirlwind went through it and tossed everything around. Seriously, I went one afternoon to find a scent and dye free detergent I love and there was literally, nothing on the shelves but a few bottles of overturned and leaking Arm and Hammer. On good days, I don't mind coming to my local Walmart. You just need to be a vigilante shopper and know what you're looking for, get out, and don't look back. BTW, try to avoid using gift cards as much as you can. Their system is so slow and archaic, they have to do all this magic and woo woo to get the card read, calling managers and whatnot. If you want speedy checkout, go through the garden section and escape out that way to avoid the annoying characters hawking their alcohol rehab/homeless children in Africa funds with their buckets and lollipops. read more

Blaaahhhhh. Call me a tree-hugging activist, whatever! I just do not like this place. I don't care if their prices are low, they compromise by paying their workers poorly, outsourcing to other countries with horrible working conditions, and drive smaller, local institutions into the ground. We found a cold sore medication here for $4 cheaper than another drug store. Wifey was happy. Going into the place, wifey always complains that the place is crowded. Then while coming out, she's so happy that she saved money. Then I point out that everyone gets happy saving money, so that's why the parking lot is always so crowded. I am not a Wal-Mart fan. I feel like this full disclosure is necessary. I do not like how they treat their workers or their predatory business practices. Basically I am a Target girl. Anyhow, the parking here is horrific. The store is typically dirty and unorganized. You can never get any sort of assistance on the floor. I asked for assistance from a young lady, and she had a nasty attitude. I complained to her supervisor who looked at me like I was from outer-space. No apology at all. The prices are competitive. Given the service, cleanliness, and available products it really is not all that great of a deal on the whole. read more

I think Wal-Mart is known for poor customer service. I decided only to go there for the pharmacy. The prices are really reasonable. Everyone seems really knowledgable about prices and are always willling to explaing. I've been having a GREAT experience so far with just going to the pharmacy. There's one really young girl with long hair (I wish I could remember her name) who is the nicest person in Wal-Mart. Then, I went with my mom to the pharmacy and the girl helping us rolled her eyes at us. The last time I went to the pharmacy, the girl told me it would be a few minutes while they ran my insurance card. I sat there right in front of them for 20 minutes. Finally, I asked her if it was ready and she said yes it has been ready for a while. Why didn't anyone say anything to me? So, it's kind of a confusing situation. I've only had those two negative experiences at the pharmacy. Everyone else that works at the pharmacy is honestly the best part of Wal-Mart. While everyone else doesn't care about anything ever, the pharmacy workers are redeemable. read more

I visited this location specifically to get an oil change and new tires. I only got the oil change because I don't have a "key" to unlock my wheels and neither did their tire department. While waiting for my oil change, I shopped the store a bit. The aisles are cramped and crowded which causes me a bit of sensory overload. Their women's clothing sizes stop at 2x tops and 18 pant. When the oil change ended, no one let me know about it. I also noticed after leaving that they failed to re-set my counter for the oil change/maintenance alert. I didn't see any RVs in the parking lot, which has a concrete causeway lined with shade trees that lead away from the store. I had to buy a large set of 10 socket wrenches just to get the two I needed because there is poor variety in stock. It seems like the biggest Wal-mart I've been to date but for its size it didn't seem to have many registers so when someone in front of you whips out their checkbook it takes a long time to process. That Saturday it was clean and very organized. The aisles leading up to checkout were very narrow because of those clearance tables in the way. read more

Came in for a quick change of a tire, which was suppose to only take 30 minutes; however two hours later - no one had any reasoning why my, already paid for, tire was not in the system. But one actually followed me to my car and started tapping on my window. I asked her to leave me alone and she would not leave. Finally had to almost knock her over with my car just to get away. So my car barely started this morning, and I knew it was a battery because I've never in 5 years of having my truck replaced it. Since I work in Brea, I wanted to find a place nearby that I could get it swapped out in no time, and not try to upsell me. I saw Walmart, and remembered years ago that I used to take other cars there that for oil changes, so I knew it was worth a try. They had 2 other people in front of me for the same thing. Inefficient...that about sums it up. i came to purchase 1 item in the electronics/video game area. it took them 30 minutes to procure said item because "it was locked up in the back". only managers have that key. it was a $14 item. really? they gotta lock that stuff up for $14? 30 minutes to find a manager, unlock the back, and ring me up. oh, and there was another time--no fault at all of walmart--that a walmart customer (white) started calling me names and telling me to "go back where i came from" (i'm of chinese descent). i don't know if i can chalk that one up to this being the OC, this being walmart, or the fact that there's a trailer park in brea. read more

Horrible experience in regards of covid precautions. 0 social distancing, employee not wearing mask correctly, CROWDED. Well so much for pick up. You'd think it be quicker ten getting your own items and checking out , but unfortunately not at this store. I pressed the red help button 5 times and no one came. I asked two people for help and the second one was able to get someone to page. But even then it still took an additional 10 minutes to get out of the store. Forget pickup. read more

This store is literally the worst. Never stocked with anything you need, it's always a mess and if you thought doing curbside pick up was going to save you time forget about it. You're better off walking in store and trying to choose your items. Today I sat outside for over 35 minutes at 9 AM with no line in front of me and I even had to call the store three times. This place has got to be one of the worst Walmart I've ever been to. Every time I come here, I end up waiting a long time for something. I seriously think it's a management thing. On one occasion, I had to wait at least 30 minutes for someone to show up at their internet order pick up area. How can you guys promote ecommerce if you can't have someone working there? Workers were walking around looking at me press the button to get serviced and finally, I just walked out to the video games area and they said they didn't have anyone working there at the moment so he's going to have to help us when he has free time. If we didn't walk out to ask, no one would've came! Second occasion was when I was getting an oil change- it took 15 minutes, which surprised me, HOWEVER, it took about 20 mins for someone to come charge me. Seriously? WHY! Whoa! As of 7/19/2010, this Walmart changed its layout so that the electronics is in the back, the make up section is in the front, and the food and clothing are separated. I like it very much! Walmart has its reputation of having trashy people, but hey, you cannot beat great low prices! read more

This Walmart is A-OK, the location is nicer than most Walmart stores in OC, and it is pretty clean. Not a 24hours location I think they close around 11 or 10 depends on the day. The only reason I didn't give a 4star review because they were too busy to put together a bike that I bought online when they suppose to put it together. I never put a bike together before so I was a bit disappointed but in the end I got the job done myself. If they are trying to do the online store thing I was hoping that they would put more afford into it. Also the online pickup is all the way in the back, and you will have to call someone to pick up items that you purchase online. read more

First of it's a Wal-Mart so you go in expecting a crazy mad house and no help. I was looking for something the other day and they actually went out of the way to help me even taking me to their staging/stocking area to see if they could find what I wanted. This store is pretty well stocked for not being a supercenter and usually has what I've been looking for. The one complaint here is the checkout which is always SLOW. They seem to hire the slowest people to check you out. You should be able to ring up an item a second and not one item every 30 seconds. They also always forget to spin the bag so you get all of your stuff. I've run after people many times with their bag they forgot. read more
