The only reason I won't give it 5 stars is for the extremely limited seating. I don't know about you, but I prefer my pizza hot and fresh, so it's a shame when there are no seats left when my meal is ready. Other than that, though, the food itself is delicious. As someone limited to dairy and meat free options, it's refreshing to have a pizza place where I don't have to modify a hundred things just to make something edible. This is the best vegan pizza I've had in my life. A plant-based diet can be challenging for pizza lovers but this place changes everything. Even meat lovers will love. Ditching the regular and awful vegan cheese, these heroes make all of their ingredients from scratch, including their nut cheese and the taste is so gourmet and unique. Their ice cream flavours are also other-worldly, the turmeric and pepper being my utmost favourite. In less than a week since opening this place has turned into my favourite restaurant in the city, give it a try, you won't regret. I don't know where this pizza has been my whole life but now that I've found it I'm never letting it go! We got the the Med, the Kim-Jack, and the Stranger Wings. Hubby's favourite was the Stranger Wings, and though they were all delish I think the Med was the best of the bunch. Great crust, and super flavourful toppings, this is the pizza I would feed to my non-vegan friends to "fool" them. The small note I have is that although we ordered extra cheese this didn't seem to be the case. We got delivery though Door Dash and have had issues with things not being right with them before, so I don't know if it was something to do with the third party. I would really want to give this 3.5 stars. I went last night with two friends near closing time and we requested two pizzas: one superfunghi with more mushrooms in place of the scalloped potatoes, olives, and a gluten free crust, and a flower + water pizza. Both were good, but definitely preferred the superfunghi over the flower + water. There was a nice variety of mushrooms on the za, and the almond ricotta was divine! The gluten free crust, while crisp and hand stretched, was tasty but since it only included white, brown, and sweet rice flours and tapioca starch left me wanting more. It was overall a really nice surprise and I would order this again for the ricotta and mushrooms! The flower and water was disappointing as I expected shaved fennel on the pizza instead of the fronds. I love field roast but the sausage was too cut up and sparse on the pizza, even though the spicy punch was prominent. I would have liked more to bite into, and I feel the fennel would have allowed that It is a clean modern space, with young friendly staff but there were waaaay too many people behind the counter. Two dishwashers, two actual pizza cooks, two dough cooks, one cashier, two bussers, one more dough cook from the back, and one supervisor was serious overkill for the closing shift with sporadic customers coming in. Adding to it, one of the dishwashers was hanging around the front and blew his nose on paper towel and continued to do his job without washing his hands (this included reloading fresh dishes and plates!). When my friend spoke to the supervisor she was apologetic and said she would handle the matter. I hope they do, I hope to return for a late night dairy free pie! read more

I've tried the Street Corn, Pesto CBR, and Sweet Pepper + Sausage, and they are all good, but Stranger Wings is just the best. The dough is on point, the cauliflower is hearty, and the sauces and scallions just lift it up to perfection. There is a good reason everyone raves about it. Garlic Knots are delicious, and so is the Kale Caesar salad. Only thing I've had that I'm iffy about is the ice cream. Nothing wrong with the flavors, but I'm a texture eater and this ice cream has a soft grit I do not like. It coats your spoon oddly. read more

I was very excited when I first heard about a new gourmet vegan pizza opening up. Finally tried it today with my boyfriend and the pizzas were creative and tasty. We had SUPERGUNGHI and ULTRAVIOLET, the truffle almond ricotta on SUPERGUNGHI was amazing, hands down one of the best vegan cheeses we've ever had! Ultraviolet was great, love the combination of pine nuts and caramelized onion. However we find the pesto sauce on Ultraviolet lacking a bit in flavour and it would be nice to have a bit more tomatoes on it. The seating area is a bit crowded though, so it might be better to get take out than eating in during busy hours. We will definitely be coming back to try Stranger Wings! We visited Vancouver last week and came here twice within our 5 day stay! That's how obsessed we are!! The pizza's are out of this world. Delicious! A friend and I went this summer for the first time and were both very happy with the range of options, especially because we both have a large list of dietary restrictions. Servers were helpful in showing us what we could and couldn't have. Pizza came quickly and was made correctly. Decor is casual and trendy, very easy to relax in and have a good time. The only reason I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars is because the restaurant was really hot in the middle of summer, which took away from the experience a little. Virtuous Pie lived up to the hype for me. I visited during happy hour 9-10pm for their $10 pies. The HH pie menu was limited, and I opted for the indian chickpea version. It took about 30 mins to prepare. I am forgiving because it was near closing time, and they got hit with a big delivery order. The complimentary self-serve water was nice while I waited. The place was very hot inside with no circulation. I recommend waiting outside, or going for a walk and coming back. The wait was worth it in the end. The pizza was delicious and had great textures and flavours. The chutney on the side was absolutely delicious and I saved it the next day for a chicken and rice dish I made! This was hyped up big time in my circles, so I had to try it, and I wasn't disappointed. It's a tiny little place, so be prepared for a wait, but the turnover is pretty quick. They have a large variety of very creative pizzas, with lovely nut cheeses (cashew mozarella and feta being the main two). Not the biggest, but very filling and well-priced ($10-12 per pizza). Friendly service -- you order at the counter and they announce your order when ready, which doesn't take long. They also offer two daily salad, which are available as a $4 side dish or $10 as a main. I had one as a side and it was very tasty. Can't say enough great things about this place. Highly recommended. read more

I was emailed about their small plates menu and decided to try the mac n cheese. It was scrumptious although I don't love penne as my mac n cheese. At the same time I had the Calabrese which was spicy, salty, cheesy and delicous. Had to have it again the very next day. I also had their original most popular Stranger Wings and it fell flat so I definitely would stick to their newer pizzas. Garlic Knots were very dry and looked amazing but were bland. Ordered take out for a group of 14 ladies and tricked them all. They all loved it and didn't know it was vegan. I've had vegan pizza elsewhere that I hated and had to spit out. But I tried this place because of the reviews, which it lived up to. Loved the variety of options. The chorizo pizza was a bit too spicy FYI. The garlic knots were yum and the mac and cheese was super good too. Made for a good late night snack too :) this is my second time recently where something not typically available as vegan blew my mind. Sweet gluten free Jesus. As a life long carnivore, I thought a plant based pizza could be tolerable at best, but after reading way too many positive posts for this page on Instagram I feel like I had to give it a try. I bought along someone I felt would be a purveyor of gluten free cuisine, and we both agreed the pizzas and ice cream cookies here are the absolute bomb. It was hard to pick a winner between the mushroomy, truffle oil topped 'Super Funghi' and the very buffalo-chicken-like 'Stranger Wings'. The vegan pumpkin spice ice cream gluten free cookie sandwich (aka the most millennial thing you'll ever eat) was big enough to share and also super yum. There are also pizza dips and sparkling water on tap to help round out the already awesome experience. Just eat here already!! read more

Wow! Really great vegan pizza. The cashew cheese is literally the best I've ever had (my mother in law says so too) and the style of pizzas are so interesting and unique. We got the Meatball-chèvre, super-fungi and the margarita pizzas. The plant based "meatball" was so delicious and was by far my favorite pizza. The lightness of the pizza was greatly appreciated because I do not like the feeling of heaviness after I eat pizza. We were all so impressed and are sad we don't live in Vancouver! You do have to pay a bit extra if you have an allergy to wheat or gluten (annoying) but I would say it's worth it. The ice cream was awesome! Especially the coffee and mint chocolate chip! Virtuous Pie is a golden vegan-based hole in the wall located in Chinatown along Main Street. When entering the restaurant, the atmosphere is comfortable with the natural light pouring through the large windows. The music being played was mainly rap and hip-hop but at a low volume to which you can hear yourself speak. There are a variety of plants placed carefully around the restaurant and it feels extremely natural (just like their food). I went in with a group of five people and we ordered three pizzas (Grandma's Pie, Ultraviolet, and the Meatball + Chevre) which all five of us enjoyed. The pizza had a plethora of flavours, didn't have a hint of grease, left you feeling comfortably full, and the biggest difference was how my friends and I physically felt. These vegan pizzas are all plant based so you leave feeling more energetic than lethargic. The entrees of salad we bought (Golden Beet + Chevre & Charred Broccolini) tasted fresh and flavourful. The food overall was amazing! For not being vegans, we were overly satisfied and all agreed to coming back. The best part was being able to watch the cook make the pizza from scratch and place it in the oven so you know you're getting fresh food every time. The employees were so friendly and enjoyable to talk to! A girl was clearing our table for us and she was joking around with all of us. All employees were helpful in explaining what was what and providing whatever it is you wanted with a smile. We were all surprised by the quality and the price of each pizza (the highest paid was thirteen dollars) because our expectation was that it would taste bland compared to non-vegan food, be over priced, and not filling. Each of these expectations were contrary to our experiences. The five of us were so full with only having three pieces each that we had to grab a box for leftovers. These pizzas are amazing! You would never know they're vegan and they're very creative! It's nice to have a pizza and not feel gross after. I've been to both locations now and I must say this one is way smaller than the UBC location. I think it's more of a take out spot. The ultra violet and curry mile were our tables favorites, but honestly all of us liked everything!
