Never had a bad experience with the food. Vegan pizzas, salads, ice cream and beer - all I love in life! Even friends who eat dairy and meat love this place. It's addicting too once you try them! They don't use daiya. Everything is from scratch. They really know how to make the tastebuds flutter with their creamy sauces drizzled on top of fresh herbs. The crust is crunchy but not hard and not too thin or thick. My favorite is the taco one but I've had almost every one on the menu at this point. i recommend going with 4 people and sharing a bunch of different flavours (only come in one size about a small-med pizza) but keep in mind this place is busy and the long table seating can be tough especially with a group larger than 3 or 4. read more

This Vegan pizza parlor really showcases how creative you can get with vegan cooking and flavours. So far I've tried the stranger wings, super funghi and the kale salad- super fungi being my favourite. It's drizzled with lots of cashew cheese and truffle oil which is a combination made in heaven!! One pizza is meant to be for one person, and I found that plenty. Service is good, only a few seats and it can get really busy so I recommend take away. read more

One of my top restaurants for vegan food! I have now been here twice and I live the food! I have tried two different breakfast pizzas and their amazing sweet dream calzone (thing). Everything is tasty! Today's choices were sweet and savoury. The 'benny eggs' pizza was good. Texture of eggs was great, hollandaise sauce was yummy, and love their crusts! The sweet dream was... fantastic. OMFG I just love it so much. So so so good. The ice cream in top is fantastic and the inside filling is divine. I absolutely LOVE this place. I have never eaten in as it is always busy. However I usually order online for pick up, pay online and there is even a separate area for pick ups so you do not have to wait in line. My absolute favorite is the Margherita pizza, which is feel does not get enough credit. There is a saying I learned from my high school graphics teacher .. KISS...keep it simple stupid!!!!! This may be the most simple pizza they offer however to me it's the most delicious. A hint of sweetness, filling, and satisfying!! Me and my partner often get the Margherita pizza and another type. Just to try it out and I have been fully satisfied with almost every other pizza we have ordered.. His favorite is probably the meatball + chevre. Simply delicious!!! The only one I would probably not reorder is the super funghi. This was the first one I ever ordered and it was a little disappointing, however it only went up from there trying the other ones. The Portland location would be getting 5/5 stars. It was amazing. We visited the location in Vancouver BC and the menu was smaller and didn't have our favourite pizzas. I would say do not get the garlic knots, they were dough in the middle and you only get 4 for the price. The margherita pizza uses a great cheese. Wasn't a big fan of the stranger wings pizza. Went to Virtuous pie for a Meatless monday but Vegan monday edition, with fellow yelpers. Thanks to CM Issabelle for organizing! I've always wanted to come but never really made that decision. One thing I noticed right away is that I absolutely did NOT miss cheese nor meat at all. All the pizza had wonderful flavors that balanced and were exciting to eat. Also Did not have to give up my virtue to fully enjoy these delicious babies. This is my very first time having vegan pizza and it certainly will not be my last. I highly higly recommend the TACO ONE!! WHAT IN THE WORLD!! it tastes like what you think it does, but EVEN BETTER! I also loved stranger wings. Super flavorful marinated slightly spicy cauliflower, wow. Just wow. The sausage and fennel one could use more kick for sure. The decor is very chic and bright, I really liked the clothing hooks on the wall, super useful. They do quite a bit of take out but the food came out fairly quickly. The thin crust was AMAZING. What a gem to find in the middle of China Town . Very clean with good service and community picnic table seating. Creative pizza options that offer vegan and healthy food choices for a food that usually comes with diet implications at other locations. We tried the holiday pizza which was made to have the flavor of turkey dinner in every bite. It was made vegan style with soy curls and hit every flavor note that completed this meal. Delicious! Virtuous is typically the kind of place I try to avoid as much as possible. It is SO noisy that you have to shout anytime you want to speak. We were a party of four and struggled to hear each other all the time and also left with painful vocal chords. Food wise, someone on this page said VP doesn't make pizza, but pies and I couldn't agree more. Their dough has strictly nothing to do with a pizza dough. And when it gets lukewarm or cold, it becomes chewy. Not good. One of my friend took the meatball pizza. The first thing he said was: "there's a reason why carnivores never eat fake meatballs. It's simply not good, nor right to call that meatballs." I tried it and had to agree with him. The texture, nor the taste were memorable. He only ate 1-2 slices of it. I had the Superfunghi pizza and was really disappointed in how peppery the mushrooms were. So much pepper! I liked the "cheese" however. Particularly the ricotta. But again, these have nothing to do with cheese. Finally the best pizza of the night seemed to have been Grandma pie, the only one with a suited name... I liked the tomato sauce and that made me regretted not to have ordered the pure and simple Margharita. Grandma pie was also spicy, something I don't like, but the heat was really manageable. Going back? I think VP is something to try because it's different, but it's not a place I'd recommend. This is probably one of my favorite places to eat. The Los Tacos, Stranger Wings and Meatball pizzas are absolutely phenomenal. Fresh ingredients and friendly staff. The one thing I have to say is that they can be inconsistent on the toppings. Most of the time it's fine but it has happened twice now that I've gotten a Stranger Wings pizza with barely any cauliflower on it. Very frustrating as you end up feeling like you didn't get your money's worth... Will still keep going back, in fact, I'm grabbing some pies for my date tonight a bit later but I'll definitely be making sure they're up to par before I leave the place. read more

I've been hesitant to try these pizzas since there are a lot of photos proving inconsistencies with the toppings. My first pizza - Los Tacos - was great! I will note that we ordered a pizza to share and since my friend can't handle spicy, and I'm not fond of Valentina hot sauce, I asked for it to be made without. After waiting 20 minutes, our pizza was ready and I watched the girl doing the finishing touches.... And she drizzled on the hot sauce! So I mini-freaked out and complained. Made a point of not wanting to wait 20 minutes for another pizza. I was offered a refund but, to be fair, I said we will take that pizza. A partial refund or freebies would be satisfactory. Not only did we get complimentary scoops of ice cream, but we also got a 2nd pizza done right!! For that, I must say this was excellent customer service and both pizzas were delicious. First off thanks to our CM Isabelle for selecting this great venue for dinner. I'm so glad I came. It was good times. So first off, this place isn't huge, just to let you know. Very small but clean and quaint. We all sat together at a long table by the doors, thank goodness, because it gets warm in here! They have a small but diverse drink selection. Me and my guest shared a Southwest Avocado salad to start, which was amazing! We all started off with drinks and then ordered our pizzas. You have to get in line and they will call you once your pizza is done. There are no waitresses. I ordered the Stranger Wings pizza which was delicious. Spicy with a hint of sweet. It really hit the spot. I was able to trade slices with a few fellow elites and tried the Margarita, which tasted as you think it would, classic flavor and somewhat bland. The Los Tacos was pretty great as well, I would definitely get it the next time I stopped in. We ended the night by getting ice cream flights. We shared the coffee and donuts, peanut butter cookie dough, mint and dark chocolate and finally the turmeric and black pepper. If you're going to have ice cream, you have to get the chocolate and donuts and/or the peanut butter cookie dough! So delicious. I would definitely recommend this place especially if you're vegan! I heard nothing but good reviews about this joint. Sadly, it fell short of expectations. I ordered the stranger wings pizza, which comes with spicy cauliflower and a cashew blue cheese sauce. It cost $12 and was a fairly lame pizza. The crust was crispy and delicious but the toppings were cheap and stingy. There was around 2 pieces of cauliflower per slice and had a tiny drizzle of cashew cheese. The pizza looked very bare and incomplete. It was just like eating baked pizza dough. My mate got the ultraviolet which was a lot better. It looked like an actual pizza. It came with pesto, tomato, spinach (I think), pine nuts. I'd prefer if the cheese was shredded and tossed all around instead of just a small square per slice. The ultraviolet tasted a lot better than the stranger wings. I had the vanilla ice cream which was a bit too sweet for my liking but it was still delicious. They must put some sort of stabilizer or emulsifier in it since it had a gummy feel and didn't melt in the mouth very well. It also wasn't very cold which I found odd. All in all, the pizza was mediocre and I probably wouldn't go back since it just seemed like I was eating pizza crust and their pizza is something that can easily be made at home. The ice cream was tasty but not enough for me to be a returning customer. The customer service was good. The staff were friendly. read more

My girlfriend and I both got food poisoning from the superfunghi pizza on December 30th 2016. We know the pizza was the culprit because that was the only thing we had eaten in common for several days. I suspect the bacterial cultures being used in the cashew cheese could have been the source but I'm no scientist. We got the pesto, stranger wings, and the meat ball one. The pesto was the best one in my opinion. The inside of the restaurant is pretty small, and there can be quite a wait to find a seat. This pizza is delicious! I came to Vancouver from Ontario on a quest for vegan food and mountains, both of which I have a bit of a shortage of at home. On the first night I ordered a Stranger Wings to go and then, to my amazement and delight, discovered they offer vegan ice cream as well! Threw in a pint of mint and dark chocolate ice cream (a favourite from before my vegan days) and headed home with my spoils. I couldn't believe I was eating a vegan pizza. The blue cheese drizzle was spot on and the buffalo cauliflower was perfectly spicy, like buffalo wings should be. The green onions on top provided a fresh crunch to the pie. Next night I went back to try the Margherita, since I had read a review saying someone was willing to empty their bank account for Virtuous' cashew cheese recipe. They were not wrong. This pie was simple, with tomato sauce, cashew cheese, and basil leaves. But oh my gosh, that cheese. Placed in thick slices around the pizza and I swear it squeaked like cheese curds do when I bit into it. Go to Virtuous Pie, you won't be disappointed. I'm a fan! Virtuous Pie is quaint, relaxed, but very hip of course (did we expect anything different on Main Street?) I'm not a vegan myself personally, but the flavours, ingredients, and even ice cream (gasp!) may fool me otherwise into believing it's just a regular ol' pizza joint. My favourites are "Stranger Wings" and the "Fennel & Sausage". (Still can't believe it's vegan.) And if you're looking for a colourful, healthier option, you can't go wrong with the "Ultraviolet" which has a variety of rainbow coloured veggies! Delicious! If you're strolling along Main or Chinatown, or even happen to hop off at Science World skytrain (only a five minute or so walk!) you won't be disappointed with where you end up. Exactly how you'd expect pizza with no meat, cheese or wheat flour to taste. I'm glad there's a place for vegans to go and eat "pizza" but since I am not vegan I doubt I will ever come here again. I sincerely doubt that anybody who claims this is as good as real pizza has had anything other than Dr. Oetkers. To be honest I had no idea this place was vegan when I sat down to eat. I just thought it was lousy pizza. The crust was weird but it was when I took a closer look at the "sausage" that I realized it was vegan. I commented as such to my dining partner and the people next to us enthusiastically confirmed this. Not wanting to hurt their feelings I said "wow delicious!" An unmelting rubbery substance made from cashews has no business calling itself cheese. The best thing we had was the "stranger wings" although the cauliflower needed some acid to make it more closely resemble wings. The blue cheese drizzle tasted absolutely nothing like cheese, blue or otherwise. It was also too sweet. The fennel sausage pizza had a slight fennel flavour but the texture was just not right. The salads however, were great! I'd be pretty worried if a vegan restaurant messed up salad. So, good for vegan pizza I guess? I'll stick with the meat and cheese variety thanks. read more

I ordered the Los Tacos pizza and it was very good. Excellent ingredients and a nice blend of flavours. The crust was a bit thin and crispy (not chewy like some places). The price was good $13 for a smallish pizza ( this is comparable to what I'd pay at other trendy pizza restaurants). The one thing I did not like was the wait time. I went in at 5:00pm on a Thursday and the place was not full at all ( there were 2 tables taken ), but the time it took to get my pizza was 30 minutes. I sat there watching them making A LOT of pizzas, there was maybe 15 pizzas made prior to mine. A lot of them were for take out orders. They really need a system of conveying the approximate wait time before your order. read more

This was by far the most incredible pizza I've had hands down. My non-vegan boyfriend said it may be the best meal he'd ever had. Period. We walked in not even knowing it was vegan! I am a vegan of only 6 months and it's crazy to find an all vegan ice cream and pizza shop! I really wanted to love this place. So sad to say that this place gives vegan pizza a bad name. We ordered 3 between two of us. The superfunghi, the ultraviolet and the cavoletto. the superfunghi was bland and flavourless. Something about the white sauce, it needed more garlic and salt. The mushrooms were flavourless too. Total miss. Our ultraviolet pizza was devoid of topping on half the pizza! We received a pie that that was half crust and the other half scant toppings. This one was the best out of all 3 we ordered though, but only on one half. The cavoletto had dijon brussles which sounds amazing, but were burnt and dry and had no flavour of dijon at all. The tempeh bacon was burnt so bad it was inedible. And the house made cheese on all the pizzas were barely there. I feel that if they were more generous with their cheese portions, it would have been a better overall experience. When i make vegan pizza at home i use a ton of Miyokos fresh mozzarella and its a million times better than this. Last disappointment of all was the kombucha, which was actually very good but $4 for a highball sized glass that was HALF filled. It was actually gone in three sips. Im so sad because im vegan and wanted to love this place and support good vegan restaurants but I just couldn't convince myself that it was a good dining experience on any level. read more
