I just moved into a new neighborhood that has better options for my native cuisine and I was pleasantly surprised to know that I could have contactless delivery with a place that feels more legit than where I was in Eagle Rock. The banh mi is so craveable that my White hubby asks for a reorder often. Both pork and grilled beef are well balanced and hearty for a good lunch. The bun thit nuong is authentic. I love the variety of summer rolls that they offer; not many places in the 323 area code offer nem nuong, let alone a good one. The pho bo and pho gai are my son's favorite. The broth is so savory and deep that I can even have leftovers the next day without the meat, just the noodles, bean sprouts and herbs and I feel fulfilled. I've never had a problem with ordering online, delivery or as of yet, been told that something has run out. Not sure if it was because of the holidays or something but first time coming here in-between Christmas and New Years, it was very interesting. We were seated right away but about 10 mins later, there was a good wait for a few parties who arrived later. We ordered our food fairly quickly. However, we ended up waiting for our food for quite some time to a point where even if the food came out, there was a mix up with our orders. Was a little disappointed at both the wait times for our food especially when few of our orders were pho. We also ended up having to wait on few utensils we had asked for a couple of times. Even another party who ended up ordering their food to go were upset at the fact they waited for about 45 mins? The food itself wasn't too bad. I ended up ordering a charbroiled pork combination but was disappointed to find out that they don't have eggs in their rice dishes. The egg rolls weren't too bad though. This is one of our favorite local restaurants to go to for comfort food. They offer a great variety of food from their specialty pho to their lomo saltado to their cajun shrimp! All of which are so delicious, by the way! Not to mention their spring rolls. So generous with the shrimp in it and high quality greens. Thai tea's usually a hit or miss for me, and they make theirs the right way! I don't know if it's possible for them to make anything bad. The most hilarious exchanges with the people working here at this pho spot. If I were in a rush I'd be upset because they take longer than usual to seat you, take your order, then bring it out. However, I wasn't in a rush and I didn't mind the entertainment, which consisted of one server playing the "nice cop" and the other the "bad cop" bossing around each table to take the order from first and shaking her head in disappointment most of the time. I honestly couldn't tell if it was legit or they were actually putting on a show. My server said the kitchen was a real pain when changing orders and they would get mad and just stop cooking out of frustration or mad when ingredients would run out. I was asked twice if I wanted a fork, which has never happened to be at any pho place before except here. I am giving all the stars for pure entertainment, honesty, and tasty pho. I was rushed to order when asking questions about the menu, and the whole time while dining not one single person came to ask if we needed anything, when I wanted to add to my order waited so long that our food arrived, I decided to not order anymore. I had asked for a fork to eat my meal, waited for 20 min and eventually I had to get up and ask again for another one. There was only two other couples dining, felt unwelcome and uncomfortable about my dining experience. The server asked other customers if anything was needed and our table was passed and again ignored. I tried the pho here and it was actually pretty good. The combinations of meats in the pho is a very different from other places. For example, no brisket is offered and meat balls is more common to pair with beef than anything else. Not brave enough to try the fusion dishes and 99% of ppl come in for pho. Service is slow since it's two older women running the place by themselves. Unless they have extra help, no idea how they would handle a bigger crowd. Didn't get a chance to try the food. My husband and I walked in at 8:10pm with a clearly lit open sign and business hours that stated they close at 9pm with a woman who looked at us and simply stated they are closed. Looking around, there were plenty of tables available so space was not an issue. We were wearing our mask so that wasn't an issue either. Not sure what the issue was, especially since it was 50 minutes before closing. I would understand if it was 10-15 minutes before closing...but this was far from the case. Food is okay but this business has questionable practices and I cannot recommend eating here. There are better Vietnamese restaurants around the area that have better food and practices. First off, the restaurant is a bit on the pricer end already but still continues to nickel and dime for everything. This ranges from charging extra for veggies to even charging for water. What kind of restaurant doesn't have an option for free water? Even classier restaurants have a tap option that they offer for free. Secondly, this restaurant mis-advertises what payments they accept. They claim to accept all credit cards and even some digital payments (like Apple pay) but will refuse to accept payments that charge them a higher service charge (like Amex). Additionally, they have a strong preference for cash so they can underreport their earnings for tax purposes. Although the food is not bad, it isn't good enough to ignore bad practices. I try to support small businesses that actually deserve it and this is not one of them. read more

The Pho is good but lacks a strong impact on the client. The meat is very tender and melts in your mouth so people don't need to chew much. The soup is a little bland but overall a 3 out of 5. First, the people here aren't Vietnamese which should've been the first red flag. Obviously, you don't come here for the service. It was slow, and service was even slower. Food took awhile to come out. I ordered the Cajun shrimp and pork spring rolls. Cajun shrimp: It came w/ 10 shrimp and this dish was actually appetizing. Similar to boiling crab, but sauce was different. Shrimp came out hot and fresh, and sauce was pretty tasty. You can pick your level of spicy (I chose medium and it was perfect). Pork spring rolls: I'll pass on this one in the future. If you've ever had Brodard, this doesn't even come close. Pretty lackluster if you ask me. First, I gotta say, this place is definitely a bit more pricy compared to your everyday pho place and the 4 star is mainly because of the portion to price ratio. Nevertheless, pho here is great. Their soup base packs more herbal flavor than most of the other pho places I've been to. I love to order their 9B, pho with brisket and a bone in rib. There is just something different about holding a bone and eating the meat right off of it. The meat is cooked to the point where little to no effort is needed to remove it from the bone and it goes so well with some hot sauce and crunchy sprouts. Since the pandemic hit, we've ordered take out from here a few times, the pho tends to be a bit overcooked once we bring it home and pour the reheated soup in it. read more

I'm here to wax poetic about their ribeye lomo saltado because in my opinion, this dish is the best thing on the menu! Sure, most of the menu features Vietnamese dishes, but after having tried lomo saltado at various restaurants doing Peruvian cuisine in the SGV, no one so far has seemed to able to meld the flavors of this dish together quite like Vietnam Kitchen does. At first glance, the stir fry looks like what you would see in a classic lomo saltado recipe: thinly sliced tender ribeye, tomatoes, sliced red onions, French fries, green onion, cilantro, garlic, soy sauce and vinegar. But the fries magically stay crispy all the way to the end of your meal, a deeply flavorful sauce deliciously coats every bite, the tomatoes are cooked to the perfect texture, and did I mention the fries somehow defy logic and stay crispy? Comes with a side of fragrant rice that I believe is cooked in chicken stock, and a creamy green sauce that lightly complements this dish. You will likely have leftovers as well! There's a small staff here so sometimes you will have to call several times before someone can take your order, but your patience will be rewarded with a wonderfully delicious ribeye lomo saltado! read more
