Saigon Avenue is hands down one of our absolute favorite places to eat. The pho is phenomenal, rich, comforting, perfectly balanced, and consistently some of the best I've ever had. Today I tried the grilled beef spring rolls for the first time and... wow. Easily the best I've ever had. Fresh, flavorful, perfectly grilled, and packed with so much goodness in every bite. I can tell already that I'm going to be craving these again tomorrow! What truly makes this place special (on top of the incredible food) is the service. I'll never order from here again. I ordered an all beef pho that came with 3 different types of beef but there was barley any in there. As well as the noodles was such a tiny portion, it was mainly just onion, along with not even 1 full beef ball, I ordered my beef sandwich with no jalapeños and it still came with jalapeño and the smallest slice of beef. And the toppings only came with 3 jalapeños, 3 mint leaves and one small slice of lemon. Never again, this cost me $45 for everything to come out in small and terrible portions or just wrong. Very traditional and community rooted. This family restaurant knows what it takes to carry-on they been around for years. I just wish they would allow requested combinations or additives. But whatever, the place looks cute from the outside, it has good reviews...why not? First off, the place has an off putting smell. Our server was very nice and friendly. We sat in the front by the window. The table was very sticky and greasy. Not cute anymore. The soup selection was limited. With the option to add additional protein and veggie toppings. I was disappointed when I didn't see tendon as one of the options. We ordered 2 Supremes. And 2 orders of pork spring rolls and 2 pomegranate chia lemonades. The rolls came out first with a pre packaged serving of a sauce. Huh?!I was expecting peanut sauce. I asked for peanut sauce. They did t have any. Again, huh?! Anyway, spring rolls tasted off. This is a quiet little restaurant in beautiful downtown Montrose that serves excellent Vietnamese food. We had appetizers of fresh spring roll and and wonton wrapped fried shrimp called rocket shrimp. I had a tofu bahn mi, two of us had beef pho and one had rice and grilled chicken. The portions are generous and the prices a good value. The best part of the meal for me was delicious Vietnamese iced green tea, delicious no sugar needed. The service is friendly and excellent. Barely any fillings and almost no veggies in there only meat in a small baguette. Super greasy, not crispy at all. I really don't understand the good reviews here they haven't had a good solid banh mi before. I can recommend banh mi hoa phat, half the price but crazy quality. Even the packaging is so smartly designed that it keeps the bread fresh and they package the veggies separately for you to add so the bread won't get soggy. Here it was all wrapped in plastic wrap. Super disappointing for that price. Didn't even take a picture because it was too sad and not picture worthy. read more

Went to Saigon Ave for lunch and we shared a couple of dishes. We started with the pomegranate lemonade w/ chia seeds and the drink was perfectly sweetened, and very refreshing. we are staying at the hospital nearby and ordered a few items (we order from local spots every day for cancer patient getting treated) the Thai ice tea had bugs ontop and under the lid. His sandwhich had a hair in it ! (the hair was half black half white) horrible service called but got no answer . I want them to be aware because food safety should be top priority. they do not deserve the A on their window . The food is excellent! I have had their egg rolls, beef pho, pork banh-mi sandwiches with fried egg (and without twice) and Vietnamese coffee. This is my go-to Vietnamese restaurant for the Arcadia/Monrovia area. The interior is dated. But the service is excellent and he always has a smile on his face. He is super friendly! The restaurant is located on a small side street off Myrtle in downtown Monrovia. There is free street parking all around. The pho noodles are flavorful and comforting . The egg rolls are crunchy and you can adjust the sweetness level for the ice coffee. I also love their sandwiches. Overall, the food is consistently good. read more

This is one of our long time fave local spots and we were so happy to see that they recently opened their indoor dining back up finally!! Their pork trio bowls have always been our go-to fave dish here - full of a choice of vermicelli noodles or rice, delicious thin pork, shrimp, egg roll, and veggies - SO GOOD!! As we were walking around Old Town this past Friday, we saw they reopened indoor dining and we were SO excited! It was chilly out and we really wanted some pho so we stopped in. It was so nice to see the smiling faces of the local family that own and run the restaurant!! We enjoyed a nice long chat to catch up after all these years haha! We both had a huge steaming bowl of their Shrimp Pho and wowww!! This might be the BEST pho broth I've ever had! The flavor is phenomenal- a delicate balance of ginger and savory notes with a nice hint of citrus. Their noodles have the loveliest texture and the portion of their shrimp in the pho is extremely generous. They're definitely gonna be our go-to for pho now lol. We also tried their Crispy Tofu and Frizzle Starter apps to begin with. Their crispy tofu is delicious - perfectly fried with very decent portion of tofu to breading. The Frizzle Starter comes with their Rocket Shrimp and two egg rolls - so so good! Rocket shrimp are shrimp wrapped in wonton paper and fried - excellent! And their egg rolls are some of my fave around. Full of deliciousness like pork, shrimp, glass noodle, veggies and even taro! All chopped up very nicely and fried perfectly - tastes fantastic dipped in that lovely vinegar sauce and the texture is on point. The inside is very cozy, intimate and relaxed - you can tell they're still trying to adjust to being back open. I stopped in here on a rainy day to grab some takeout. I was really impressed with the quality of the food and service. The fresh kumquat slush was an awesome find that is definitely not a common menu item to find at a Vietnamese restaurant. It was delicious and I'd go back for that alone. The Chả giò (Vietnamese egg rolls) weren't overly greasy like some places and the portions were really generous. The lettuce that came with it for wrapping was, like, pristine?? 10/10 just what I was hoping for. I don't write yelp reviews often so unfortunately they're almost demolished in the photo but trust me they were good. Definitely best Chả giò I've had in a long time. The pho was perfect & I liked that they had it super hot to make sure it was still a good temperature when you got home. The food came out super fast too. This was one of the most disappointing meals I've had in a long time. The interior is incredibly meek and dated, but whatever, I look past it. We ordered the appetizer platter with egg rolls and fried shrimp. It came with a sweet and sour sauce that tasted like it was just poured out of a generic condiment bottle, the egg rolls were honestly disgusting. Crunchy with an off putting flavor. The fried shrimp completely lacked flavor. We also ordered a filet sandwich and a pork sandwich. The sandwiches were good, except for the fiery chilis that completely ruined it. I love spice, but this was unreal - my lips went numb and got full off drinking water. I love Vietnamese food and grew up in Alhambra/San Gabriel area with some of the best Vietnamese food I've ever had. We came here for Pho in Monrovia because of its high rating on Yelp. Was it good? Yes and no. Service was good and staff were polite. The pho on the other hand lacked the freshness that would deserve 5 stars. My pho was ordered with steamed chicken. It was below average. The chicken was super dry even after sitting in pho. Next time when craving pho, i'm trying the place across the street. It has a half star lesser rating but better reviews overall within the past year. read more
