What the Pho???? $9.99 PHO Cheapest Dine Pho Ga in the 626. They are currently running their anniversary promo on Pho Ga at this location. I saw the sign outside and had to try it. For less than $10, I had an amazing bowl of Pho, I tasted Pho all over Vietnam and the broth is up there with the best of them, very authentic northern Hanoi style Pho. I was told that they bring in fresh noodles daily and once the noodles are gone, they are sold out. We ordered two bowls and eggrolls and were stuffed. Came back here to try their shaking beef with rice - a cherished and traditional Vietnamese dish (there's more to Vietnamese food than just pho!) Came here a bit after 12:30 and there was no one so I had the whole restaurant to myself. Waiter was tentative. I ordered the shaking beef with rice and a side of soup thinking it didn't come with but the waiter came back and told me it did so I saved some money there! The dish is good. Beef is tender and has good flavor. It comes with a fried egg and some veggies and pickled veggies on the side so it pairs great. There is a sauce that came with it that I didn't feel like it was needed but can be used on your rice. The broth that came with is probably the same they used for their pho. It's good but wish it was a bit hotter. Overall, a good Vietnamese spot to try with reasonable prices with this market. They also have vermicelli and dishes to try. I had wanted the bahn mi and asked if they put pate in it but they don't so that's an automatic no thanks for me. We ordered the special pho, reg pho with all the fixings and goi cuon. This place is a regular spot for my family and always good. Today I veered from my regular dishes and tried something different which was the grilled shrimp banh mi. I used to come here from time to time. After yesterday I don't think I will. I had ordered the rare beef pho which is my go to order here, and they mistakenly gave me rib-eye pho. I had let one of the servers know about it and he dismissed it and said "It's the same thing." I reiterated that I don't want this and I'd like for them to take it back and he looked to the other server working for rescue and he made up this BS excuse saying they don't serve rare beef (eye of round) anymore cause they "switched" where they get their meats. I know this is complete BS, cause even if they did switch, they would still be able to get simple eye of round cuts. Secondly, my brother also ordered an extra side of eye of round for his ox tail pho which was literally in his pho bowl. Complete nonsense on their end. They simply just didn't want to take it back and remake what I wanted and tried to sell me on how rib-eye is better. Even if that were the case I don't like rib-eye on pho and I didn't want it! It was busy night and to an extent I can understand some of their reasonings but still, complete nonsense. I will not return. read more

I was really excited to try this food pho but when I arrived it was so busy that I ordered a vermicelli bowl instead with a Thai tea. Very small portions and the meat wasn't very flavorful. My bride, and I enjoyed a rare date night here, a couple of months ago. In fairness, we had originally planned to go to the place across the street; however, when we walked up to the door, we were told by the staff that they were only offering takeout menu, still hanging tight to that Covid monkey on their back. Really guys? But no matter, luckily, for us there was a Vietnamese restaurant right across the street. We walked in, and were given a table, imagine that! A cursory inspection of the menu saw my wife and I order our usual: I got the dac biet, and Mrs. the Tai chin. Creatures of habit, we are... I was amused to see my father arrive to the table with a giant rib bone draped across the bowl. Any connoisseur of pho will tell you that the death or survival of any good bowl starts and ends with the broth-- there's had a good salty, beefy flavor and clarity... may be a little light on the star, anise, and a little elbow on the onion. Still good. The conspicuous rib meat paired with the noodles, well, which themselves had a pretty good chew-- not soggy at all. I piled on sprouts and basil leaves like I always do, and a squeeze of lime to join the jalapeño slices. While I truly enjoyed this bowl, the other cow parts were a little lacking... Not a lot of tripe or tendon. Maybe they thought I wouldn't notice? I don't know. I know, life is getting more expensive, and those Monrovia rents can't be cheap. But this was a good five or six bucks more than a bowl along the Valley Boulevard proper. Considering both destinations are pretty much equal distance from my house, no strong reason for me to come here unless there's a movie involved I suppose. This cozy pho place is right across the street my my stylist and I decided to pop in and try it out (it was a cold afternoon and soup couldn't be any better). The restaurant was empty and we were the only ones there the entire time. We got a starter plate and the egg rolls were so Delicious. Spring rolls were probably a 7/10. Rocket shrimp was so so good. The beef in my soup was tender and flavorful. The broth had a good taste but it did come out less hot than at most places I've been to. This is a decent Vietnamese restaurant if you have a hankering for reasonably priced food if you work or live nearby. I've tasted a few items off their menu and felt satisfied upon leaving. Surprisingly, their Pho was my least favorite since it was lacking the traditional aromatics that I'm fond of at Pho restaurants I grew up with in the SGV and Orange County (i.e., star anise, cloves, etc.). The broth tasted really "beefy" so I'm sure they boiled down beef bones for hours, which is too overpowering in my opinion. I was a bigger fan of their vegetarian pho and will probably get that again the next time I'm craving noodle soup. - Vegetarian pho: 4/5; contained a variety of vegetables and tofu in a clean and tasty broth. -Grilled chicken salad: 3/5; the dressing didn't have oil and tasted like it was a mixture of rice wine vinegar, sugar, and soy sauce. The chicken was nicely seasoned and it did sit on a big bed of lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, and red onion. Cute space, VERY well air conditioned so much so we comfortably ate our hot steaming pho even on a realllllly hot day a week ago. I'm glad to say that our first pho find in our new area was a hit!! The broth is always my faveee (i always say i wish i could just order broth heh) and it tasted both clean and fully savory-- didn't feel like they skimped out on anything while also not feeling so heavy. My only mistake was eating/drinking the WHOLE THING because their portions are quite generous (bowl size and meat and noodles and broth)! The service was also great and we were even given our yummy chopped onions (our Korean taste buds need a kimchi sub). The only thing and I'm not exactly sure about this, but the noodles seemed a bit thicker than the traditional type (maybe it was a cooking thing) but we'll definitely be back to try it out and can double back to update! A local Vietnamese restaurant in downtown Monrovia. My husband always enjoy getting the bone in pho and I enjoy the vermicelli noodles with fish sauce. The menu has good classic options with spring rolls and egg rolls as well. I enjoy being able to select different toppings for my noodles. It wasn't busy so the service was pretty fast for a weekend. And the location is just off of the main drag of Old Town Monrovia - so it's great for people watching while you eat - especially during the Friday night farmers market! After a movie, my girlfriend and I were walking around and found this cute little gem. We looked at the menu as only a 2 other people were in the restaurant. After some time, I ordered the Beef Stew and my girlfriend ordered the vermicelli. Wow, the beef stew was so amazing. I never had beef stew like this before, it was hearty, herby and just overall hugged my soul. You had a choice of a baguette, vermicelli or rice. I personally choose the baguette and I fell in love. Dipping the bread in the soup was to die for. The meat was tender and paired very well. My girlfriend really enjoyed her vermicelli as they had their own variation of their fish sauce. She loved the slight hint of sweetness as did I. The eggs rolls, are well, eggs rolls and out good no matter what. I came here 2 times prior to this review and my opinion still stands.
