I wanted to like this place since it's family owned and right in the neighborhood, but the food just wasn't good. We got the chicken and beef teriyaki. The chicken was dry and chewy, sauce wasnt your typical teriyaki sauce. Its more of a thick slightly sweet soy sauce. The beef was sadly just as bad, tough and chewy with barely any flavor. I've never really seen anywhere that serves chuck as a meat for teriyaki. I also had the curry it was decent but definitely not what i was expecting curry wise. Rice was ok. Disappointing overall. Old school since 1980. My mother is visiting from out of town and she loves teriyaki chicken so I brought some families members along for dinner. They offer a variety of bowls and combos at reasonable prices all for under 20 bucks. We ordered a beef and chicken teriyaki combo and also two chicken bowl combos with fountain drinks all for around 55 bucks. I was given a beef bowl in error. There is nothing more inspiring and heart warming than a son wanting to carry the torch for his parents' business, preserving and honoring their hard work and journey, and B & C Teriyaki is the owner's, Ben's testament to that. I have seen their reels and have had their teriyaki several times and I've finally had the time to sit down and pen out this review. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not only is B & C a great spot for some delicious quality teriyaki, but also a community space and a place to break bread (or beef bowl in this case).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've had their teriyaki bowls at an anime event (Sugoi Sunday), a coffee place, and most recently they held a car meet event. They also do collaboration events with other businesses (clothing and food colalbs), which is pretty cool too. It's a breath of fresh air to see such dedication into the creation of aforementioned community space, merchandise, and going out to other events. I love their Mr. Teri mascot too, cute little guy. I have tried both their standard chicken teriyaki bowl and their combo teriyaki (with the Ben's special, mix teriyaki and curry sauce). Along with the protein, the orders have cabbage, carrot, broccoli, and onions as veggies. Portions are generous and they don't skimp out on the proteins, nor the sauce, so that every grain of rice is drenched in its deliciousness. I wouldn't say that the curry is necessarily spicy (though I have a high tolerance), but that it has a lot of spices in it, creating a nice depth of flavor. The rice is always perfectly fluffy and yummy as well. I've also had the chance to try their collaboration with Shinya Co., which was a much spicier sauce available. And although it wasn't excruciatingly spicy, it did build up to a pretty powerful heat as I kept eating. Things like this make it exciting to see what B & C will do next because they always keep you guessing. Sometimes they even have aguas frescas and the jamaica and horchatas at events and it goes amazingly well with a hearty helping of teriyaki protein, veggies, and rice. My only negative comment about this place, is that I wish this place was closer to my house. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and beef combo plate and oh my goodness this was absolutely delicious. The beef was so tender and amazingly seasoned and paired with the teriyaki sauce. The young lady that took my order was so bubbly and you can tell that she was genuinely happy to work there. I found this place off of tik tok and wanted to support a small community business, and I am glad that I was able to try this spot. I recently started a new job in Monrovia and have been driving past this place for a few weeks now. The online ordering system was easy to use. I set a pickup time for 5pm. When I arrived at my designated time, the cashier told me that they had accidentally read my online order wrong. They'd made my food TWO HOURS EARLY. I didn't think anything of it at the time. The cashier was very friendly and apologetic. I decided to have my dinner on their back patio. Small, but that was to be expected. The table was dirty so I had to wipe it down with my own sanitary wipes. The food was lukewarm at best. I'd ordered the teriyaki beef tacos and for the price, I wasn't expecting a whole lot. The meat was dry, but not unpleasant. It would have been more enjoyable if the meal was piping hot as it was supposed to be at my designated pickup time. The dish had a weird smell and the food also had a slightly weird taste and texture. The beef was the texture of can dog food or minced beef. Every time my partner and I come to Monrovia to visit his family, we stop at B&C Teriyaki. First, you'll always be greeted with a smile. Second, the chicken curry is my go to choice. When I arrived there was no option to let them know I was here but I arrived at the requested time frame and no one came with the food. I wasn't that surprised and then parked to get the food. I felt a little disappointed it wasn't brought to my car as it had advertised. I took the food home and thought that the beef flavor was pretty standard. I should mention they really skimped on the meat portion. They gave pretty much 85% rice and 15% meat. After watching the TikTok video about this place , I convinced my boyfriend to have it for dinner tonight. I wanted to love this place, but it was just okay. First, I love that it is really easy to place your order online. You could do it through their website or you could do it through the Toast app. I had their teriyaki beef and chicken combo and my boyfriend got the beef and chicken curry combo. I asked for my sauce on the side and I'm glad I did because the sauce was a little too sweet for me so I'm glad I was able to control how much sauce I put on the meats. My boyfriend thought the curry was OK... He wasn't sure what kind of curry it was. We also ordered the beef, bean, and cheese burrito... Which had a lot more bean than anything else. We also got their beef and chicken tacos to try and I definitely like that better than I thought I would.... It definitely needed the hot sauce.
