Was hankering for some fried chicken and Popeyes was getting old. Quite a few Korean fried chicken spots near me, but bb.q was the closest. If you don't already know, bb.q is located inside of HMart in Arcadia, in a sort of small food court. Prices are comparable to other K-Fried Chicken establishments. I will say, however, that they take a while. Like 20 minutes or so. Got the soy garlic wings and original crispy just to compare the two. The soy garlic is terrific. The original crispy is good, but lacks flavor and is probably meant to be dipped. At any rate, a good time was had by all. read more

BBQ Chicken recently opened in the H-Mart in Arcadia. I loved fried chicken, especially Korean fried chicken, so I knew I had to give it a try. I've been to the bb.q Chicken in Alhambra, but this one is smaller and has less options. The bb.q Chicken in H-Mart does not have kimchi fried rice, but that's ok. I ended up ordering the 5 boneless wings and a side of fries. I got the soy garlic sauce for the boneless wings. The food took a while to arrive, as I think it's made to order. I waited about 20 minutes. The chicken was solid. The meat was juicy. The outside batter was a bit soggy, but that's ok. Maybe just a bit too crispy for me as well, a bit tough to chew. Wow bb.q have location inside hmart foodcourt! Nice. They took over the corndog spot. For the uninitiated, korean fried chicken always takes 20-30 minutes. So best to put in your order and then walk around hmart to shop. Once you're done shopping, ready to eat. That was our strategy. We got whole chicken, original and hot spicy sauce, total $35. The hot spicy is sweet, sticky, and spicy with a kick. The original is crispy. This time is a little lacking flavor for me and a little dry (just a little!). Still manage to stay crispy on the 20 minute drive home inside a box! Pro tip: if you don't finish, airfry tomorrow and they get crispy again. read more

I went to the other locations, but it was my first time to try bbq in H Mart. We got the Half And Half Chicken; Half Golden Original & Half Secret Sauce, and French fries. The meal was heavenly. One box of the original and one box of the sweet and spicy came out to be a total of around $60-$68, which is very good deal for korean fried chicken! An extremely solid example of fried chicken done right! I have frequented this location several times and have yet to have a bad meal from this place! My go-to orders are the original and Secret Sauce chicken (with extra sauce on the side). Although the typical sides including fries, radish, etc. are solid, I prefer the dish either plain or with a side of beer in a classic jovial pairing! I find that the portions are very delicate for the fries, as the sliders are big for a "slider" the mini sliders however are quite small, guess it lives up to the name. Taste wise, the sliders were all very delicious, I'm not a spicy food person and even with "not hot" option, there was a subtle kick to the sliders. I found it very friendly for people who don't enjoy spicy food. It was very juicy so that was a good first impression. The crinkle fries were pretty tasty as well. I recommend using the sauce that they provide to add more flavor, but even without the sauce, the fries are very delicious, although a bit salty. Overall, a great spot, seem like a good spot for a quick meal, recommended to download their app to gain points for rewards.

Before I could even figure out what to do, a young lady with the biggest smile greeted me and asked if she could help. Her name was Patty. I told her it was my first visit, and she patiently explained the menu, especially the different spice levels. Since I enjoy spicy food, I confidently ordered the Hot level. Looking back... I may have been a little overconfident! When my food was ready, Patty brought it to my table with the same genuine smile she greeted me with. The food looked incredible, and the chicken was juicy and delicious--but after a few bites, I realized the Hot level was hotter than I had imagined. I laughed to myself and thought, "Next time, I'm definitely ordering one level lower." A few minutes later, Patty came back to check on me because it was my first visit. I told her the food was great, but I'd overestimated my spice tolerance. Without hesitation she said, "I'll change it for you." I immediately told her, "No, it's okay. I don't want you to waste food." She smiled and replied, "I want you to enjoy it." That simple statement really impressed me. In today's world, you don't hear that very often. It reminded me of something I had just read about Dave's Hot Chicken--"Keep us honest." Patty truly lived that philosophy. She wasn't just serving food; she genuinely wanted my first experience to be a great one. The food was excellent, but Patty's kindness and customer service made the experience memorable. I liked it but it lacked crunch, compared so some that I've had. Fries, omg probably the saddest, driest, limpiest, fries I've ever had. Even my toddler didn't like it (and he normally gobble up fries). The spicy chicken sandwich and grilled chicken were good. Crispy chicken on the fried + nice seasoning on the grilled. The chicken is the only reason I'm not giving this place a 1 or 2 stars.

I recently visited this fried chicken place and had an overall disappointing experience. I ordered 16 pieces, wanting a mix of half cheesling and half soy garlic. However, when I asked for a half-and-half order, they told me they don't do that and suggested I order 8 pieces of each flavor separately. This didn't make much sense to me, especially considering the price for 8 pieces of each was higher than if I had just ordered 16 pieces of one flavor. The real kicker, though, was the cashier's attitude. He seemed uninterested and was doing other tasks while taking our order, making the whole experience feel impersonal and rushed. I didn't want to argue about the order, so I just went ahead with the separate orders, but it really wasn't the best way to start the meal. Same BBQ chicken. This one tastes different. It's aweful when compared with other bbq chicken. Not enough sauce and its dry. They are not sanitizing in between customers.
