Viaje with probably the best customer service before and after my dinner here. Called in on a last minute reservation for our 3 year anniversary and we have been eyeing Viaje for the longest time. Their interior is absolutely stunning when walking on 2nd Street but you know the price tag was making me procrastinate that reservation. When I called they asked for our names and PUT OUR NAMES ON THE MENU saying Happy Anniversary. You gotta be kidding me! Talk about extra brownie points for myself right there, I lied to my girlfriend saying I told them to but I didn't lol. Then I'm driving the next day get a random call and THEY ASK ME HOW THE DINNER WAS! Your kidding again, it was a bit awkward and the shortest call of all time but it a nice gesture. We sat at a booth and I ordered their 10 oz Arrachera steak which comes with a huge anaheim pepper and tortillas. It was pretty good and left the restaurant full with their chips too. I wish the sides on this plate was a bit better. Their avocado crema was really good but wish there was a better carb on this place like rice. Girlfriend got the Pulpo which was octopus and loved it. Service for dining in was a bit lackluster, kept on having to call over the waiter and felt like I was losing him in the restaurant. Other than that, it was a good anniversary, thanks Viaje!

Phenomenal birthday experience at Viaje! We stopped in around 3 PM for happy hour to celebrate a birthday, and everything was amazing. The aesthetics are beautiful, the service was excellent, and the food was spectacular. We ordered several items from the happy hour menu plus one from the main menu. The tacos and drinks were standouts, and everything came out flavorful and beautifully presented. The best touch? The birthday girl's name was printed right on the menu. Such a thoughtful detail! Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Viaje definitely knows how to create an experience. We'll be back!

Great place to celebrate a special occasion! I went for a birthday dinner and they took great care of me. They got in touch before the dinner to ask the name of the person celebrating and then printed a personalized menu with a happy birthday message on it. Such a small but meaningful touch. I was dining during LB Food Scene Week and had the three course prix fixe menu. Everything was outstanding. The appetizer was a little hard to cut into bite sized pieces but was the perfect blend of fresh flavors to start off the meal. The chicken mole was richly flavorful and the meat was juicy and perfectly cooked. For dessert, they not only brought it the included dessert of churro bites, but also a special slice of tres leches cake for my birthday. That cake was delightful. Staff were incredibly nice and made the whole experience even better. It was pretty busy when I arrived, but had quieted down by around 8 pm. Between the food and the service I will definitely be back!

This place is nothing but class. If you're looking for a top-notch real, classy, Mexican, authentic experience, then look no further because you have found it. The decor, the service, and especially the food is absolutely amazing. I don't think I have ever tasted better, Mole in my life. this chef deserves a Michelin star.

Went here for my birthday lunch and fell in love with the place the minute I walked in! Thanks to my good friend Mike for introducing me to this amazing restaurant! They are so thoughtful that my name was on the menu! I kept a copy of course! The food was delicious. We went there for social hour and sat out in the patio. We ordered from the happy hour menu and also had some delicious drinks! The Paloma Blanca was good and The Sunday Service was by far my favorite. Both tequila cocktails. The service was incredible! They also gave me a complimentary dessert and it was a tres leches cake! My favorite! The presentation of everything was so beautiful as well, tasted as good as it looked! We had pulpo, ceviche, chips and guacamole, shrimp tacos, and arrachera tacos. Our waiter was named Zachary and he gave us excellent customer service. I can't wait to go back!

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and reminiscent of Tulum. The space felt thoughtfully designed and created a great setting for the evening. The service was friendly and attentive, although it was a little slower than expected. We started with cocktails. I ordered the Pocho, made with Amaras Verde Mezcal, Bourbon, pina, guanábana, lime. The drink was enjoyable and unique, with tropical flavors that worked well together, although it was not quite as balanced as I expected. My fiancée ordered the Paloma Blanca, and it was excellent, awell-crafted cocktail. One of the highlights of the meal was the Tacos Dorados. With crema, and avocado emulsion was absolutely delicious. The flavors immediately reminded me of the potato tacos my mom used to make when I was growing up. The mushrooms added a rich depth of flavor. We also ordered the Arrachera, a 10-ounce Black Angus skirt steak served Anaheim pepper hand-pressed heirloom blue corn tortillas. The steak was flavorful and well seasoned, although it was slightly more underdone. Overall, the food was very good, and the atmosphere made the experience even more enjoyable. While the pricing felt a little high for some of the portions, the quality of the ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and memorable flavors made it a restaurant we would gladly return to. The Tacos Dorados alone are worth coming back for and also to try all other dishes like the pulpo.

Excellent service. I kept bothering the manager as he was manning the front desk near my table whenever I needed something and couldn't find my Waiter. My Waiter was knowledgeable of the menu. I'm impressed. Pacing is slower here like any other fine restaurants. We sat straddling the patio and indoor dining area and lighting was dim inside. It's very romantic and chic if you want to impress your date. Our red snapper ceviche was fresh! You're supposed to stir everything before digging in. I was not aware of this until our Waiter instructed us to do so so, thank you for letting us know! I was not a fan of the Camarones appetizer. I don't know if maybe I don't have an acquired taste for the adobo seasoning... It stunk of fish sauce as soon as our Waiter set it down and tasted mediocre to me... My fish was AMAZING! My leftovers tasted even better the next day when I wasn't so full off the appetizer! Victoria beer came out delicious until I squeezed a lime wedge (for whatever reason it turned the beer bitter instead of crisp ‍). I was not a fan of the Horchata either. They used artificial cinnamon syrup instead of real cinnamon and I hate the flavor of artificial cinnamon! Thank you for the complimentary tres leches cake even though it was not my birthday. I had informed our Waiter that it was my birthday month and if that counted when he had asked if we were celebrating any occasion. I appreciate your team going above! Thank you all for a nice evening. I definitely will return to try other items.

My husband and I are regulars here. They have a comfortable patio and chill vibes at the bar and main dining. It can be a romantic date spot or casual drinks and snacks. I'm always surprised when they're empty; the food is so good! Fresh, high quality and delicious. And the cocktails are some of the best in Long Beach. On top of that, they have a unique selection of tequilas and mezcals. Super underrated spot. Service is always pretty good to great! We usually get some excellent servers. Friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make recommendations. Definitely must try the ribeye taco, sopes and octopus if you want something smaller. The ribeye steak, whole fish or leg of lamb are also outstanding. Some items come with their homemade, blue corn tortillas. So yummy. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend! Parking can be a challenge, as is normal in the area. Don't let that discourage you!

What an amazing place to enjoy a beautifully prepared meal. From arrival to departure, it was such an enjoyable experience. The staff works together to make sure you are enjoying your visit. Out server was hands down the best. She helped us pair our drink with our order, made excellent recommendation and was genuinely pleasant. The guacamole was soooo good no extra seasoning was needed. The steak dish came with homemade blue tortillas, the chicken mole was also phenomenal and the rice! Perfect. The is elegance done right. Well worth the price. The quality and service unmatched.

Tuna tostada

The service of the staff was great. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and relaxing. Everything we ate was delicious and the portions were perfect. The tuna tostada was amazing and the pork chop was very tender and tasty.

We tried out this place for the first time. Found a parking pretty easy after 6pm it's free . We were a walk in no reservations needed on Thursday bar top was open and it's my favorite place to be. It's where all the action of the restaurant is in my opinion. Very well decorated nice and warm atmosphere cool ambiance and great and friendly staff. The chips and salsa is where it started and is very good chips taste homemade and salsa is very tasty. We tried the different tacos they have, they were all good but I think the Ribeye taco is hands down my favorite. With the rice n Beans, black beans like no other very flavorful and the rice is not your Mexican rice your used to. It's white rice with butter and it hits the spot right on. Drinks are great as well . I will be back Cheers

The Pollito con Mole Oaxaqueño, with roasted chicken, black mole, rice, and plantains, was delicious.

We celebrated my girlfriend's birthday at Viaje, and I couldn't have been happier with how the evening turned out. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and seated in a comfortable booth with a great vibe. Our server, Veronica, provided exceptional service and made sure everything felt effortless and special. The food was outstanding we had the Pollito con Mole Oaxaqueño and Salmon al Pastor, and both were beautifully presented and full of flavor. To top off a great meal, the team surprised us with a thoughtful birthday dessert. The cake was absolutely delicious and the perfect ending to her night. It's those extra touches and genuine hospitality that really make a place stand out. Thank you to Veronica and the entire Viaje team for making our evening so memorable. We'll definitely be back!

It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

The experience was amazing. Speaking of Speakeasy! First, if you don't want to (most likely) get turned away, you will definitely need to make a reservation on OpenTable a few days before. Parking around the area was tough, but you may find a spot if you circle around the blocks. You will need to arrive early to look for parking. Their cocktails were amazing, creative, delicious, and Tokyo-inspired. I love their cool menu design. The bartender was friendly and made some nice recommendations. I had a Meguro River. It's creamy and pretty with floral decorations, served in a mini pot. The Okinawan Gimlet is in cool green. They even have alcoholic gummies and alcoholic shaved ice on menu. We sat at the bar, and I expected to receive service from the bartender, but he didn't acknowledge us for the entire night. Instead, our server took our order. After a while, she informed us that the crispy rice we ordered was sold out. She mentioned that the bartender was supposed to let us know, but he never did. What made the experience more uncomfortable was that the bartender seemed to be giving most of his attention to the Caucasian customers on the other side of the bar. We were the only Asian customers there, and unfortunately, this left us feeling like we were being treated differently because of our race. The good food and drinks helped compensate for the poor service, so we decided not to let it ruin our evening. However, things got even more disappointing at the end. After I paid, I noticed that I had been charged for the crispy rice even though we never received it. When our server tried to address the issue, the bartender appeared to ignore both her and us, so we eventually left. I hope management sees this review and reaches out to me to address the overcharge and the overall experience. Overall, although the food and drinks were good, the service and the way we were treated left a very negative impression. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

The decor definitely reminded me of my grandparents' house in Taiwan, with vintage, ornate wooden chairs, dragon/lion statue carvings, and even a historic century old marital bed that had been repurposed into a booth. The drinks were also VERY unique, with my favorite being Hua sheng (literally meaning peanut), which was crafted from a nostalgic childhood peanut milk drink. All our cocktails were crafted very well, to the point where I thought they were a bit on the lighter side since I couldn't really taste the alcohol. This section does get really busy though and only had one bartender who is making/serving drinks and taking orders, so do expect a bit of a wait. There's a small stage area in the back where they host a lot of events. There's also some outdoor patio seating and an event room upstairs. There were good mellow vibes on a non-event night, and there was good music playing. They also have some Halloween décor up. I started out with the Ooogie Boogie (Proper Twelve Apple Irish Whiskey, Manzanilla sherry, Mela apple liqueur, Luxardo del Santo, green apple juice, simple syrup, $15). This was absolutely delicious and not sweet at all. It has a few layers of crisp, slightly tart, apple flavor. You would never guess this is an Irish whiskey cocktail. She started out with the Deadly Nightshade (butterfly peaflower-infused Centanario Plata tequila, Tott's Champaigne, Crème de Violette, Van Gough Blueberry & Acai vodka, Salers gentian amaro, butterfly peaflower syrup, lime super-juice, $15). This drink is pretty large, is well balanced, and has some complexity. She loved it. We shared Jack, The Pumpkin King (400 Conejos mezcal, triplum, chipotle-pumpkin syrup, lime super-juice, $15). This was a solid mezcal margarita with a light pumpkin flavor and a hint of heat. The rim is a mix of cinnamon, turbinado sugar, and salt which was tasty. Bartender Zoe was awesome! She was so friendly, and we enjoyed discussing cocktails and various other topics with her. All three drinks were great, and a bargain at only $15. We will definitely return soon to try out some of their regular menu cocktails.

Folks should be aware this place is capable of treating you with disrespect in person, then when you mention the poor treatment in a TikTok comment, they'll respond without taking accountability and dismissing your experience. They will then ultimately block you - presumably because too many people liked your comment. You guys, that's embarrassing. You need to do better. My comment was completely respectful and an honest concern for how I was treated the one time I ventured in with a friend. Deleting feedback you don't like, customer concerns, and then further blocking those people (I hadn't written anything else. I only noticed because I clicked on the notification that someone liked my comment and saw I was now blocked) makes you look shady and guilty. I'm not a bot, and I explained a very real, possibly discriminatory experience at your bar. If anyone reading would like to know the experience: It was October 21, 2024. A Monday. I should've written this review then but I didn't have anything nice to say, and didn't want to trash this place when it seemed they were struggling due to what the bartender said. I was going through a really tough time, having just canceled my wedding about a month earlier. It was my first outing after a month+ of deep depression. My friend came to rescue me and take me out. I had been meaning to try this place since moving to Long Beach. It was fairly early in the evening, probably around 8pm or so and it was pretty slow. There was music and two couples dancing. We grabbed a table and I went to the bar to get us drinks. As I stood at the bar, some guys had come up alongside me to wait as well. The bartender looked over me and promptly took their orders. I barely had any emotion left in me at the time so I didn't care, and just waited to be next. However, I waited. And waited. And waited. The bartender seemed to be intentionally ignoring me (now the only person standing at the bar). I watched him busy himself with other drinks for the tables, for the guys, and continue to ignore me. Time ticked by and I started to wonder if I was doing something wrong. My friend kept looking over at me from the table like what is taking so long? Minutes and minutes passed as I stood there awkwardly, being blatantly ignored. After a long stretch of time, the bartender quickly said something in my direction like, "If you want to order you're going to have to go to the other end of the bar." I said, "Oh ok thank you." And walked to the other end of the bar. From this point, I was ignored and talked about (full male bar staff) without being looked at. They rudely discussed in front of me how I was standing there, and how each one of them wasn't going to take my order. It had been over a half hour at this point, and I was the only one who had been standing at the bar. It was a slow Monday night. Because I was a broken hearted loser at the time, I started to tear up. Why was I being treated like this? Am I not someone they want in their bar? Is this place not queer or woman friendly?? Why is every other person getting served, while I am blatantly dismissed? After almost 40 minutes, the bartender on that end told me he wasn't going to take my order, and I'd have to go back to the other side again. I quietly walked back over to the other side, feeling so embarrassed and just wanting to leave. It was ridiculously clear I wasn't welcome here, though I had no idea why. I remained standing there for maybe another 10 minutes. The original guy finally relented and begrudgingly took my drink order. He was standoffish at first, until he realized I wasn't upset about any of it. He started to apologize, saying he was brand new, and told me some of the staffing issues they had had that night. He seemed stressed. He recognized he had served the guys before me, and I had been ignored for way too long. He apologized again, and poured us an extra shot in our drinks to make up for the poor treatment. The drinks honestly were terrible lol, but I can only complain about so much. Plus he gave us double the alcohol, so I guess I was grateful. We left immediately after and went somewhere else. I haven't been back since. I wish I could share screenshots of my TikTok comment with the owner's dismissive reply, so you could see for yourselves whether you think that deserved being blocked. She even liked one of my reels from my page? Very odd. People are going to share the truth about their experiences at your establishment, and for you to deny that and block them is wild. You could've responded in a very different way, but you chose to be defensive and shady. That's on you.

We arrived and there were a few parties leaving, we walked to the bar area and the two servers were occupied with other guests, so we patiently waited. Finally one of them approached us and shared the menu, another gentleman came to the bar and he was quickly greeted with a hello and our same server immediately shared the menu. The gentleman politely said, these ladies were here first please take their order first, which the server did but was not so happy about. To our surprise the server still prepared his drinks first. The gentleman very surprised apologized since he knew we were there before him. With our drinks in hand we found a table with some empty seats. The table side where we sat had a sprite glass bottle and a glass that hadn't been picked up since the last party left. We moved it a side to set our drinks and finally enjoy our conversation. A different server came to the table and asked the gentleman next to us to get his empty glass and she completely ignored our side. She did another round and I finally asked her to pick up the bottle that was left by another party before us. I asked her for the menu again, she brought it but she did say that I had go back up to the bar to order any additional drinks. We decided to not order a second round and head up to the terrace.

So this is a review that's been a *long* time coming (I've just been chronically overwhelmed for an…read moreequally long time.) I haven't been here often, but I *was* here right around when they opened, wherein I determined that the food ranged from quality but a bit overpriced, to just overpriced, a feeling I would still hold, generally speaking. Great vibe, solid service, but maybe a little pretentiously priced (and/or it's just stupid expensive to run a restaurant in this area, granted.) And with *super* pretentiously-priced cocktails, for how relatively simple they mostly are (if I'm gonna spend $18+ plus tip on a drink, I expect Baby Gee-level cocktails.) They also had an impressive wall of craft beer on tap, but also a bit pricey, especially compared to places not on 2nd street, so there was never a particular *draw*. But then I never actually finished reviewing it, because I'm super behind. Anyway, then also not particularly recently, they launched a happy hour, which at the time, especially for this particular part of Long Beach, was pretty stupidly good, with $5 decent sized smashburgers (6 with cheese, 10 with cheese and also fries), as well as $5 craft beer, pretty much all of them, including the fancy, exciting stuff (exciting if you're a nerd like me, the barrel aged stuff, for instance). They also had one specific half hour at the time, which I'd like to immortalize as a super fun idea, where one specific cheap but craft beer was some stupid price, I think like a dollar, but since they had a whole wall of rotating craft beer, a *different* specific cheap craft beer any given day. That's not relevant at all to my current review, but it was fun. Anyway, I still didn't write a review like a year ago when I took advantage of that happy hour, though I did take advantage of it a solid couple of times. Skip forward again to just a few weeks ago, I happened to be attending an event in the general area again, an event that was going to involve more alcohol than food and for which having a happy-hour-timed dinner in the area was going to be useful, so I figured I'd check out whether the happy hour was still there, and it was. At least as of a few weeks ago, the happy hour (3-6 weekdays) was still a thing, and it had gone up a whopping 55 cents per item. Ends up being effectively ~$17 plus tip for a quality smashburger, quality fries and a craft beer, though they didn't have as *many* of the fancy (barrel-aged or equivalent) stuff as they had the first time, they did still have some, and it was still $5.55 for any beer on draft they had. So happy hour wise, that's a pretty good price for this part of the country, I'd say. Obviously only since the burgers and fries *are* also absolutely quality burgers and fries. Not quite as wonderful as my gold standard smashburger at The Stache, perhaps, but still a great smashburger. My opinion on spending almost 20 bucks for what is effectively still just an old fashioned, hasn't changed, though. :p

Customer service needs a little bit of adjustment while we waited to be moved to another seat…read more Manager tone of voice was very rude. Talk to you as like we're with children drinks arrive late food was not order a place need to treat customers with respect no customers no business no tips wouldn't mention your names, but I personally think it was very inappropriate. There were few people they were polite for the rest. The kitchen needs to get the order right server manager should be a little bit more considerate how they talk to you customers for that matter I would never go back to it. Knowing that when you place a second order, which is as bad as the first one, I'm happy with Service and I'm happy with the food. Will never go back and by the way you need shades in those windows in the Sun!! is too strong to seat customers in the sun window radiating so much heat on you. Yes you gotta afford to put a few shades seat if possible just kill some of the sun out of the customers shoulders or back and it's too bright. You cannot even see the person in front of you and the scale from 1-10 I give it a rating " 3 "!!! Don't get me wrong. You do have very good service for my observation is too bad.
