Great back room away from Main hwy if you want . Rice dishes are creative and delicious !! Always fresh sushi .

Last min yelp pick for a dinner and wasn't disappointed. Staff was great and food was phenomenal. Best sushi Ive had in miami and at a very reasonable price. It this place a shot and you wont be disappointed read more

Great find in the heart of Coconut Grove! Loved the spicy lychee cocktail, and shrimp fried rice. Only downside is that the tartare does not come with chips or bread, however our server was kind enough to bring some chips after I asked. read more

So...not inviting, bartenders barely have a pulse and were vaping. Message to the owner, work on the experience. The hostess was also pretty dead. No smile, no sense of common courtesy. Food was good thou. Drinks made well. read more

Varsol by Akashi is a revamped sushi restaurant. Akashi was the original restaurant located across the street. It was more casual and fit the old coconut grove scene. Varsol is Akashi after plastic surgery LOL in a good way! The place seems small but it's actually bigger. It has a mini lounge hallway for drinks and apps a sushi bar and then a dinning area in the back that's very dim lit and intimate. The servers were very polite and attentive. We really loved the food and drinks. I got a lychee martini with sake 10/10 and the raw fish sushi 10/10 everything was fresh and tasty! I will be returning with my husband for a date night :) I'm happy local businesses in the grove are thriving again read more

Me and my partner went here during their sushi happy hour (which is not during holidays). The ambience was nice but almost strange. I went during the day but in the back where we were sat it was very heavy on this stone and florescent light theme that made it seem a little awkward to sit there especially since you're sat so close to other people but I digress. The food was great and the servers were nice and did in fact speak English which is an important thing in Miami at times. read more

Very good food and great sushi !! You have to try it out .. you won't be disappointed !!!

I dined there last month, and while the atmosphere was good, we both got food poisoned from something in the meal. After I tired to contact and explain they kept avoiding me and doubting my claims, which I found bizarre after spending $250 over there. Very disappointing. read more

Amazing sushi and ambience! We had the edamame, sunrise roll, and crispy tempura roll. Sangria was also great and our server Gregory was attentive and helpful! Would come again! read more

I was confused by all the 5 star reviews. This is a sweet little restaurant in the heart of coconut grove with nice decor inside and outside tables. But the sushi was so meh. Over cooked rice and bland rolls. My daughter had stir fry udon and that dish was super boring and plain. The service was great and the simple sake selection was on point. But there was not one thing we ordered that I would want again (including the gyoza which seems hard to mess up- served with plain mayo for dipping sauce-sorry but yuck.) read more

Great service. Mediocre food at best. We had the sushi. Nice atmosphere. Would I go back? Not anytime soon. read more

I went to Varsok a few weeks back for their Happy Hour, and I have to say it's one of the best happy hours I've been too. The food on the menu is awesome and they offer a really good variety. The Alex #2 is one of my favorite rolls and they offer 6 pieces for the HH menu - unheard of. The Tuna Tartare also is on the menu and it's a huge serving. The drinks are amazing too and it's right on Main Highway in the Grove. A super nice outdoor seating and vibe for a nice night out. I would 100% come back! read more

Bad and slow service. My friends and I have worked the service industry, so we understand she could have possibly been having a bad day; we would be understanding if she was weeded or double/triple sat. But nope, we kept looking around how is the service so slow here if we are the only ones eating here right now? Our waitress was rude and not the most helpful. Anything we would nicely ask her for (even when she forgot) she would give us the look "are you f****** serious right now, you're going to make me do my job?" and would walk away with attitude. It should not my problem that I have to tell you how to do your job and then you give us attitude about it? Waited about thirty minutes for our raw fish meals...and we were the only party (of 4) sitting outside. I ordered the Vostok salad and waited about twenty minutes for the salad dressing she forgot to bring with it. I finished halfway through my salad by the time the dressing arrived. The only grace we could give at this point is maybe there was only one chef available, or she's never been a server before. At the end of the check, we were trying to pay our own tabs and split one item four ways. As a former fine dining server, this is one of the easiest things you can do on the TOAST system and she didn't want to accept my help. Instead, she gave me attitude, a hasty respond, and spoiled my meal. To put the cherry on top, she stared down on her tablet (both times), expecting us to tip a second time and then walked away with a huff and puff attitude. As a server, this is one of the rudest things you can do when someone is paying their tab. Completely spoiled my meal. We all left the restaurant so dissatisfied. Especially because I LOVEEE Akashi and the service I would receive there when they used to be open for dining. Had better expectations for this restaurant. Someone please train her better. Sincerely, a former server. read more

I came here for my birthday dinner on a Monday night. Highly recommend coming on a weekday. It was cozy and quiet, but still enough people to know that it was a happenin' place. We had a sangria and a signature drink that I can't remember the name of. Even if I didn't like the sushi, I would come for the drinks. Absolutely amazing and great to know that the sangria is on the happy hour menu. We had an appetizer and two specialty sushi platters. Perfect amount with room for dessert if that is your thing afterwards. We sat outside at the table right next to do the door. I know it adds an extra table/two people to the seating chart, but it was somewhat annoying having people go in and out right behind you. Plus due to the installation of the HVAC system, the air conditioning inside created a strong seal on the door that you have to pull very hard to open it. With the tinted glass, a lot of people would pull on the door and then think the restaurant was closed. We'd have to turn around and say "pull hard!" I would suggest putting a sign on the outside or fixing the door issue. read more

Went with some friends to this restaurant. The service was pretty horrible. They forgot our drinks. Got my friend's entree and appetizer incorrect. Manager never came by to speak to us. They also, took our order in Spanish. When we responded in English in an attempt to subtly redirect the waiter, he continued to speak Spanish. Food was ok but I likely wouldn't be going back. read more

Finally got to visit Varsol by Akashi on a Saturday night and it was definitely worth the visit. After walking by this gem I kept saying "I gotta try this place" and I finally took the plunge. From the outside it looks tiny, but once you walk in it keeps going and going. The decor is chic, minimalist, and dark. It's a very intimate restaurant that won me over immediately and the service was excellent. Very attentive and kind. We shared a bottle of Sake and ordered the Jennifer roll which tasted like butter and it melted in your mouth. We also had the spicy octopus which was thinly sliced and the perfect amount of heat that washed away nicely with the cold nigori sake. Something that was surprisingly delicious and simple was the Salmon burger on a potato bun. Such a treat to have on the menu and it mixed in perfectly with sushi. I will definitely be back! read more

Friendly and very attentive staff, nice wine selection and very good rainbow roll and steak!

Absolutely delish!!! I've already come back a few times because the quality is 10/10 and the portions are fantastic. My only con is the service can get slow and the music inside is extremely loud buuuuut súper worth it! Definitely recommend. read more

Stopped at this restaurant for a quick bite and tried their Curious George Sushi roll and their red wine sangria. The sushi was delicious! And I was definitely feeling the sangria after only a couple of sips! Service was fast and the waiter was very attentive. I sat outside to enjoy the lovely weather and it's a good spot to people watch. Overall, cute place with great food and perfect location as once you're done eating there are many shops to walk around and check out. read more

Very good sushi for a very good price in a prime location. Perfect for a date that'll satisfy without breaking the bank. Outdoor seating available. Down the street from 3 potential after dinner dessert or coffee shops. Everything was fresh and tasty and definitely the only good sushi option currently in coconut grove.(not impressed w sushi garage at all). Unless you're into vegan sushi, like plants queen, this is the new go-to sushi spot the grove has been waiting for. read more

If you want to to hang out with the beautiful people, this is the place to go. Hip, cool trendy and pretty good sushi. Is it the greatest sushi I have ever had... Well it was pretty good. We had a fabulous sushi meal at Varsol. The Jungle Roll was amazing tempura salmon and crab salad inside, but the best part was the fried crab sticks on top. Never had anything like it - so good!! We also loved the Shrimp Pop Roll with whole fried honey shrimp on top and the Tuna Dream Salad was indeed a dream. We were one of the only tables there (late lunch) but service was also great and we sat outside watching the world walk by in Coconut Grove. read more

Food was fine. But there was no wasabi or ginger with my nigiri which I've never seen before. One of the rolls had shrimp tails in the middle and our server tried to say that was normal. Not a place for people who actually enjoy sushi. read more

I really love this sushi place on coconut grove. The food was really good and, it is not expensive at all. The quality was outstanding. The restaurant look really nice. However, the service was a little bit poor with some lack of attention. This is why i do not give the five stars. read more

Both the food and service were excellent. The Gyoza appetizer was so good we ordered another one. I loved the egg miso soup. The main reason I give 4 of 5 stars was because the desert was not that great. We order the dulce de leche volcano and thai donuts. The waitress stated the dulce de leche volcano takes 20 minutes so we waited as it sounded amazing. Definitely not worth the 20 minute wait. There were 4 thin slices of bananas the size of a quarter. The thai donuts were overcooked and hard. The outer crust was a dark brown vs. the typical golden brown. I would definitely go back for dinner but would skip on the desert. read more

Excellent food! Rigo was our server! Sushi was awesome! Servive was was and server knew the menu.

We are here from out of town and I called ahead to verify that they had availability for 3. The woman I spoke with said yes and there was no wait. We drove from our hotel down to Varsol and then paid $17 for parking. And when we met the hostess she told us there was no seating inside and the only seats were outside - in the rain, next to the street. No thank you. Be clear and honest when you're speaking on the phone and don't waste people's time and money. read more

To our own dismay, we didn't know of Varsol, even though we live way too close to it (maybe close proximity was the issue:)... Just tonight we found it on Yelp and made an appointment. The staff and service were welcoming, professional and absolutely lovely. Could have not asked for a better balance of attention, quality of service and just an overall experience. All recommendations we received were spot on, and food/drinks were delivered effortlessly. Food itself was just awesome - we travel lots and have had a fair share of food(ie) experiences. Will definitely be returning to Varsol, as far as we are concerned:) For what this spot aims to do, it delivered consistently! The ambiance was fantastic. A special shoutout to Varsol for not cranking up the music too high, which can take over the guests' entire experience if too loud. Miami should learn from them, as even some high end venues now play music too loudly and one cannot hear their own words while dining.... Our warmest thanks and a glowing recommendation, Varsol. Hope to see you soon! ps. Just fyi, I heard my fiancee say "My compliments to the chef" at least couple of times. Maybe that should have been the entire review.... read more

We very much enjoyed this place. Nice selection at reasonable prices. Small assortment of beer and decent selection of wine & saki as well.

I'm a huge Akashi fan so when I saw Varsol open I couldn't wait to visit. I came with family for Mother's Day (party of 5) and we were all super happy with the food, service, and ambiance. Varsol has taken up a very small part of the Grove but once you walk in the vibe is immaculate. The dark bar in the front turns into a bright skylight of a back room with larger party dining tables. So so beautiful! The food is well priced, sushi is extremely fresh and our service was amazing. I will be recommending this place to everyone and returning very soon! read more

Great addition to the Grove. We have been ordering from Akashi for many years and this is an amazing sister restaurant. The Spicy octopus and Puro Salmon roll we're great in portion size and also perfectly made. We had a few cocktails that were fabulous. You can tell the drinks are made by a bartender and not someone from the wait staff! Best part...there's a happy hour menu everyday from-6PM. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. read more

I loved this place, the ambiance was amazing, great music and very nice aesthetic. Perfect to come with friends or family. The food was good, I loved the gyozas (steamed) and the Mariano roll was delicious. We also tried the shrimp noodles but they were ok, not my favorite. The best part was the service, from the moment they sat us to ordering, our server Rigoberto went out of his way to ensure our visit was pleasant and he was so attentive! I drink a lot of water and my cup was always full without asking and he would check on at the perfect times to ensure everything was good. I recommend this place and will definitely visit again!
