What a hidden gem in the heart of Coconut grove ! It's hidden and it's small, I loved it. Love the ambiance lighting, no heavy lighting. The music was not too loud. The bartenders were the best and we all had great conversation! Definitely going to become a staple for me and for Miami. Can't wait to go back, drinks were yummy

Hole in the wall tucked in the corner of plaza. You'll really have to look for it but it's super cute. It does get packed inside but there are tables outside to wait and you can have drinks brought to you. The door attendant was really nice and the staff were very organized. I had the pleasure of trying an espresso martini and the martini glass is super cute & tiny plus the drink itself was actually really delicious. Did not have the pleasure of going inside as we were done with our drinks by the time our name was called. Next time!

I love this new little spot in the heart of the grove. It's very lowkey, you wouldn't even know it was there unless you explored the area more. We dropped in for a cocktail to celebrate a friend's birthday. The service was great! We got lucky and were able to go in right away. The cocktails are only $16 each, which isn't terrible compared to a lot of other places. I ordered an espresso martini and it was pretty good. The foam was nice and I loved that the glass was chilled. My friends enjoyed their cocktails as well. This is a nice spot to start off the night and have a drink or two before continuing the party. I love the vibes, they are very upscale but chill.

Made plans to meet up with a friend in the grove and we hit up this spot first. Great start to the night and definitely a vibe! My friend pulled up first as she lives closer to the grove, and was at the door for not even 5 minutes and 2 people walked out and she bagged a table. Clutch. The table was very lush, where we sat could have easily fit 3 girls on the booth and two guys in the chairs. Nice lit up library situation behind us to contrast the dim lit vibe, which I think is a must for this kind of place. Grown folks know. This is a great place to do Happy Hour or start a night of bar hopping in the area. The cocktails were very well crafted and they're all the same price, which I like because it makes it easy for people to just go for what they're in the mood for based on flavor profile. I started with the Tropical Dundee which came frosty af (glass and drink) and absolutely added to the cocktail. My friend started with their Penicillin and was also great, got myself one after and my friend followed up with a Hidalgo. Several other great sounding cocktails which we'll have to go back and try. Both of the team members working were very friendly and overall it felt lively but not LOUD, which I think is key for this kind of place, particularly because of the size. They do a good job with crowd control here by keeping walk space clear and only allowing enough people for what can be seated and maybe 6 people in the standing area, who are up to get a table/spot at the bar next. Would definitely say this is for the 30+ crowd, in my opinion. They don't have a kitchen but Chuggie's is next door and you can place the order from inside Mae's, grab it, and come back. Smart. I think they could have benefited from at least one more person so that there'd be two people behind the bar making drinks while one runs them out to tables and checks on the standing room folks. I liked it and will definitely be back. Ignore the jits who wrote a bad review because they couldn't get in. Shouldn't knock the place until you've made it in ;) If you're local definitely stop by, I'm sure it will become a favorite soon.

Came here on a Wednesday, so it wasn't packed but still had a decent crowd. Great cozy speakeasy vibe, just what we expected. The drinks were very good and the bartender was up for making whatever we wanted. That area doesn't have many of these bar options so think it's a great addition and a new fave for us if in the area and without the kids.

The vibes. The drinks. The service. Emma was the best. A girl's girl. Just what the Grove needed.

I took advantage of their 4 course $60 dinner special (not listed on their website but offered every day, including weekends) and went with the Caesar Salad, 14 oz skirt steak, fries and flan. Each dish was very good, the steak was cooked a perfect medium rare, the fries were crispy and good, and the flan was probably the best I've ever had. I enjoyed a very good glass of Malbec reserve with my meal. La Cabrera also offers a $39 lunch special. Ambiance was charming and the service was also very good. Far superior choice, food wise, to Chop.

A restaurant that still comes to mind months later is usually doing something right, and this visit confirmed what we loved about our first experience. We made reservations without any issues a couple of days before. The restaurant was clean, bright, and had not filled up yet with the busy Sunday family crowd. Upon being seated, we were provided with the regular menu and the Miami Spice Lunch menu. The Miami Spice Lunch, which has now become a daily Executive Lunch special, is a standout value. The portion sizes and the quality of the Argentinian steaks speak for themselves. As a group, here's what we ordered: Starters - Ham and Cheese Empanadas - Morcilla - Grilled Provolone Each starter delivered exactly what you'd expect from an Argentinian steakhouse. The empanadas were warm and flaky, the morcilla was rich and well seasoned, and the grilled provolone came out bubbling and perfect for sharing amongst our table with the restaurant's complementary bread basket. Entrée: - New York Strip Steak, 12 oz This was the only cut of steak we ordered. It was cooked to each of our desired temperatures and seasoned simply, letting the quality of the beef speak for itself. It is clear why La Cabrera has a reputation as one of Latin America's best restaurants. Sauces on the side, which included a BBQ sauce, and a chimichurri, were left for our choosing and were used for the side dishes more than anything. Sides: - French Fries - Jasmine Rice Both sides complemented the steak well. The fries were crispy and large in size. My father-in-law, a cuban man who's very serious about his rice dishes, thought the jasmine rice was very good. Dessert: - Dulce de Leche Ice Cream with Cone - Dulce de Leche Pancakes The ice cream was smooth and rich, while the pancakes were finished with a sugary powder coating that was impossible to resist. This lunch reinforced why La Cabrera continues to be stand out in a crowded field of steakhouses. Between the consistency, generous portions, and the value of their daily menu specials, it's an easy recommendation whether you're bringing family, hosting someone from out of town, or simply looking for a great lunch in Coconut Grove.

For lunch, we started with the honeydew agua fresa, it had a sprig of rosemary, on ice - it was delicious. The guacamole was fresh and lightly salted with their amazing, large round corn chips. We tried many different tacos; the duck birria with broth, chicken tinga, mojo pork carnitas, pork belly (my friend's favorite), sesame ribeye, seared chorizo, mushroom taco (very good), baja fish (lightly breaded and fried fish), bibb lettuce wrap, yucatan shrimp, and the ahi tuna tatako. There were all amazing! Also good was the kimchi, the spicy cucumber salad (with a slight kick), the esquites with the corn off the cob, and the black beans with sofrito. Our server was great. The restaurant has many seating options; we loved sitting outside in the back area.

The vibe here is noticeably different from the Aventura location -- much more of a club atmosphere with a live DJ, which honestly adds a lot of energy to the night. If that's your scene, you'll love it. Food-wise, mostly excellent. The margaritas were great, the plantains are always a hit, and the tres leches was solid -- loved the coconut flavor, just couldn't finish it after everything else. The pork belly tacos are my usual favorite, but this visit they missed the mark slightly -- the pork portion was too big for the taco and the shell had already fallen apart before I could even pick it up. More of an execution issue than a flavor one, because the ingredients were still great. Everything else was on point. Still one of my favorite spots -- just hope they dial in the taco construction next time.
