Oh Mae! We had such a good time. The espresso martinis were on point really hit the spot. One was not enough had to have two. The bar staff is charming and attentive. They really know how to make a girl feel welcome. From the moment we walked in we were accommodated at the bar and served promptly. I love how a cocktail bar has a carafe of water ready for you with two short glasses it was perfection and in my opinion, a great attention to detail. Now the bartender this guy is on point. I've never seen a cocktail be shook with such intention. Everything he (Tom) was making looked perfect and I definitely hope to come back and try some more perhaps a whiskey sour? The place is tiny, but so charming the lighting is perfect. The barstools are so chic. It's just super inviting and it's the perfect little neighborhood bar. Looking for a night cap with great service and great drink options? Check out Mae's room. I'm still not drinking alcohol and this place delivered an excellent mocktail at an affordable price ($12). My friends had cocktails and wine and there were no complaints. It's dark inside but from what I could see, it looked nice, Miranda seems to be the hostess and the incredible mixologist. Raiya was also great and ensured our area was clean and our glasses were replenished. I was pleasantly surprised by this spot and can't wait to visit again. Check them out and enjoy! read more

Hole in the wall tucked in the corner of plaza. You'll really have to look for it but it's super cute. It does get packed inside but there are tables outside to wait and you can have drinks brought to you. The door attendant was really nice and the staff were very organized. I had the pleasure of trying an espresso martini and the martini glass is super cute & tiny plus the drink itself was actually really delicious. I was so ready for a great bar! A local, nice bar to go to and chat ; Mae's was "supposed" to be that spot! It's tucked back in all the little shops in the Main Highway Plaza with Chugs. I walked in and it was everything I wanted it to be! Small, intimate, low lighting, bar stools, fastidious bartender who heard you and honored exactly what you said! A few intimate booths that were already full; my girlfriend was sitting at the bar holding me a seat. She could tell by my smiling my face I loved it from the minute I walked in. Didn't say I was welcomed when I walked in the door! The bartender looked up and said (with volume and gusto) "Welcome to Mae's!" Now, I Am grinning! I told the bartender I wanted a Hendrick's martini, straight up, very, very, very cold; no vermouth, olives and a lime! When I tell you it was cold, it was my 3 very colds! Perfect! Now I am very, very happy! Mae's lived up to its word: it's all about the Art of the Classic Cocktail! There is no food at Mae's but they have a great arrangement with Chugs! We checked in with the bartender and he suggested we order the OG burger. Chug's offers a limited Menu at Mae's; I'm sure there might not have been 10 Items on their list. You order, you get a text, you go next door To the window and pick up your "snack." Know that you are not going to have a giant burger with the works; our OG had a patty, shredded lettuce, pickles with their sauce on a great bun $9.95; and we ordered fries which we shared. Honestly, it was damn good! The downside: I will probably not Darken Mae's door anytime soon on a Friday night. The Music was so damn loud we could not hold a conversation! A lady on the other side of the bar was covering her ears! They got up and left! Her seatmate (husband/date) saw me holding my ears, came over and said this is a great bar, try coming on a weeknight, it's much calmer. Well, I may try it again, definitely on a week night! Mae's definitely has that "old school" charm but definitely not my taste in music! I wanted a little jazz, softer sounds where we could Actually hold a conversation over fabulous Cocktails. I love this new little spot in the heart of the grove. It's very lowkey, you wouldn't even know it was there unless you explored the area more. We dropped in for a cocktail to celebrate a friend's birthday. The service was great! We got lucky and were able to go in right away. The cocktails are only $16 each, which isn't terrible compared to a lot of other places. I ordered an espresso martini and it was pretty good. The foam was nice and I loved that the glass was chilled. My friends enjoyed their cocktails as well. This is a nice spot to start off the night and have a drink or two before continuing the party. Made plans to meet up with a friend in the grove and we hit up this spot first. Great start to the night and definitely a vibe! My friend pulled up first as she lives closer to the grove, and was at the door for not even 5 minutes and 2 people walked out and she bagged a table. Clutch. The table was very lush, where we sat could have easily fit 3 girls on the booth and two guys in the chairs. Nice lit up library situation behind us to contrast the dim lit vibe, which I think is a must for this kind of place. Grown folks know. This is a great place to do Happy Hour or start a night of bar hopping in the area. The cocktails were very well crafted and they're all the same price, which I like because it makes it easy for people to just go for what they're in the mood for based on flavor profile. I started with the Tropical Dundee which came frosty af (glass and drink) and absolutely added to the cocktail. My friend started with their Penicillin and was also great, got myself one after and my friend followed up with a Hidalgo. Several other great sounding cocktails which we'll have to go back and try. Both of the team members working were very friendly and overall it felt lively but not LOUD, which I think is key for this kind of place, particularly because of the size. They do a good job with crowd control here by keeping walk space clear and only allowing enough people for what can be seated and maybe 6 people in the standing area, who are up to get a table/spot at the bar next. Would definitely say this is for the 30+ crowd, in my opinion. They don't have a kitchen but Chuggie's is next door and you can place the order from inside Mae's, grab it, and come back. Smart. I think they could have benefited from at least one more person so that there'd be two people behind the bar making drinks while one runs them out to tables and checks on the standing room folks. I liked it and will definitely be back. Ignore the jits who wrote a bad review because they couldn't get in. Shouldn't knock the place until you've made it in ;) If you're local definitely stop by, I'm sure it will become a favorite soon. read more

The drinks were very good and the bartender was up for making whatever we wanted. Disappointing to say the least... The place was packed on a Saturday night and my wife and I were looking for a night cap on date night. The staff sat my wife and I in a very small table in a cramped corner of the place next to two large tables by a 4-person obnoxious group. One guy was even blocking my seat and I had to go around the guy instead of the host asking politely to make room for us. Well, we waited there for 10 minutes with a bottle of water with no glasses, at least don't tempt me with the bottle if we can't even drink out of it!! Server took a while just to get our drink order. Music was really loud, like the New Yorkers next to us. The staff had asked them to please move over as they hogged two tables with overflow coming in. The table had fought back saying the place was cramped as is. The staff obliged and left them alone... not cool. That was enough! We left and then we finally got attended to as the staff had asked us to please stay, buddy not gonna happen. Don't waste your time here folks. This place doesn't fit the Grove and attracts the snob crowd. You're better off going to brickell or the beach for this kind of crowd/vibe. read more

I am here to say, Mae's Room is the cocktail bar that Coconut Grove needed. For years, we have loved to go out in the Grove for a day filled with frivolity and nights filled with delicious dinners or casual hangs. But if you wanted to grab a drink at a proper cocktail bar, you'd either have to post up at a nice restaurant bar, or hit the dives. While there is a time and a place for both, I am so happy that Mae's is in the mix. I went to Mae's Room on opening day which was November 18th. It's part of the Ariete Hospitality group that is now all over this corner of Main Highway and Fuller street so you know it's going to be good. If you have been around the Grove a lot, or frequent Scapegoat you will recognize Tom - the lovely English guy behind the bar who served me I kid you not the FROSTIEST martini I have had in 2025 (and trust me I have had a few this year). If you go out a lot in the area you will recognize some familiar and friendly faces behind the bar, too. It's a pretty small cocktail bar - about 15 ish bar seats and a few cocktail tables. They just opened, so they are figuring out how to have the demand for the space coexist with the vibes they are creating, but I trust that will work itself out. If you plan on going, you may have to wait if they are at capacity but the tini is worth it. It's the kind of spot that you can go to grab a drink solo, cozy up on a date, or yap with your girls over happy hour. While they don't have food, it is 2025 and people are brilliant so you can use the QR code on the menu and order Chuggie's from down the plaza and eat it at the bar. A martini and a fast food style burger and fries? Hello. Sign me up. I also enjoyed an espresso martini which was great. Cocktails are reasonably priced and they also have happy hour with $9 drinks. Ok so this place is definitely a cool spot! I came here with my friend and her cousin this past weekend and we had such a great time. When we got there the bouncer let us know there was a wait for walk-ins but that we could sit outside and even order drinks while we waited. Once it was our turn they called us inside and everyone was so nice to us. They led us to our seats right at the bar. The inside is such a nice vibe. Dark, intimate but blasting throwbacks that just make the vibe so fun. All the drinks we got tasted great so I don't think you could go wrong ordering anything here. My friends cousin even ordered a drink where you just kind of say what spirit you want and the bartender creates something. His drink blew us away so if you're adventurous and trusting go for this option! I heard they have a pretty good happy hour so I think next time I go I'll try to get in for that. Was out in the coconut grove area with my main piece, trying to go to level 6 for a scenic view. Upon arrival, they turned us down due to a private diddy party, with a small man playing a flute in the lobby to lessen my woes. We decided to audible to a small venue called Mae's Room. When we got there, a handsome, yet stern, bouncer in a skully told us we had to wait 20 minutes to get in. Fine. But then our barback angel from above got us in no problem. I'm rating this place great because it is a vibe, the drinks were great, and the people were nice to us. However I do have to make a side note. There is a person at the door. I am unsure if they do this because it gets too crazy? Which I can understand. The space is small and if you go in a large party there is no way for you to get the best service. However... to keep it professional I would have someone taking names down and checking seating. We got in because at the time the person outside was taking a break. So we walked in. There was plenty of seats. He stopped one of us and asked how many in our party (which was small) and said ok fine you may sit at the bar. The person was really nice but I saw some other yelp reviews that seemed the door person was questionable. This is just feedback if they want to keep a good crowd coming to this place. There are some serious leadership problems here. It's 9pm on Friday and the bouncer outside keeps seating people OUTSIDE to wait to go in, because they're at capacity, he then hands everyone menus telling them they can hang and order and sip outside. 35 mins and no one ever comes to take ANYONES order who is sitting outside! Nice!? The nastiest part is that we got here, a part of two, and were assured that we're next to go in. Another couple comes up around 10 min later, he tells them the same thing, they sit outside to wait... then they talk and then that couple is let in, inside, instead of us. This was an awful experience. Terrible service, this isn't Hollywood, this is Coconut Grove where locals just want to be able to hang out. I will never go back. We arrived at 9pm and were told by the British door guy at the front that it would be a 2-3 hour wait, we came back after a wait and without explanation the guy shut the door in our faces, locked it and left many people outside confused.
