Assorted nigiri's and sashimi

I am so happy that Katana is closer to me! The OG Katana in North Beach is excellent, but I don't make it out there too often. So when I heard they were opening on Coral Way in my neck of the woods, I was thrilled! Who doesn't love the fun of sushi on a conveyor belt on tiny boats? This location is a bit bigger than the MB one, but it is absolutely popping and there is a wait. We went in a group of 3 on a Wednesday and the wait time was 30 minutes for us. Thankfully, we had brought a bottle of wine and enjoyed that while we waited so the time went quickly. The space inside is one large sushi bar, with tables wrapped around and individual bar seats as well. I would say that this is not a spot to go in a big group, as the fun is sitting close to the sushi bar and picking out your food. The ddo have some tables that fit 8 people, but I would suggest 4 people max for comfort and also the full experience vibe. You can order from a server, or take your pick from the rotating boats. We did a mix of both. I found the sushi to be super fresh. My two favorite things were the spicy hamachi hand roll and some sort of tuna roll that had seaweed on the outside and chopped tuna inside. I also enjoyed the squid salad a lot. One of the chef's was super nice to us and told us about some of the tuna specials so we ordered those as well. Honestly, I feel like we ordered everything. The way pricing works is different plate colors are different prices and at the end they count your plates. It's super reasonably priced - with sushi pieces starting at $3.50 and going to about $15 depending on the fish. We washed everything down with some beer and had a lovely time. They have a small parking lot, and parking is also available on Coral Way. Such a good addition to the neighborhood!

The service here was wonderful. The wait is a bit long but it is very worth it. Every single server assists you throughout the dining experience. The best server was Sergi, he was very attentive and kind. Every single plate I had was great. My favorite was the rock shrimp, the sauce was so sweet and tangy. The gyoza was delicious, served warm and fresh. I loved the crab salad, it was full of flavor. My friends enjoyed a little dessert at the end. They had the matcha and oreo Swiss rolls. My friend loves matcha so she really enjoyed her Swiss rolls, while my friend who had the Oreo flavor said it was fluffy and pretty good. The whole concept of the restaurant is so fun and immersive. You get to grab whatever plates that are floating around on the boats. Each color plate was a different price. I absolutely love coming here. They have a private parking lot if you get lucky. If not, street parking is available.

Really excited that we don't have to go to Miami Beach to enjoy the this experience. And that's what it's all about - experience. Came on a rando Thursday about twenty minutes before opening and there was already a line of about six parties. Overheard the manager tell another couple that the best time to come is on a Monday at 6 or 9. It's like that. The service is as good as it gets. You don't have a server since you serve yourself but you do have a whole staff of people that are taking care of anything you might need with haste. The food is delicious. There were certain bites where I audibly groaned with taste pleasure. The only thing I can say is the prices. We've been going to Katana and Shima for close to twenty years. The plates just keep going up. Left satisfied but not close to full but the bill suggested I should've been rolled out.

When I heard Katana had opened a new second location down south I had to go check it out! I've been a long time patron of the original and am a huge fan, but the long wait times and tight space were a deterrent, especially when coming in a group. This new spot seems to address all the issues, and even has its own parking, though I came on an off time, I was able to be seated immediately! My first impression; it felt like the Katana I'm familiar with, just scaled up. The food was the same too, as it should be. It's like they took their time to replicate all that made the original great and made it better.

Visited this restaurant last night and I could tell you with confidence it's one of my top favorite restaurants in miami. Definitely will be coming back! The food was amazing and the vibes were immaculate. Thank you!

So much fun! The floating revolving boats are full of the sushi. It makes service quick and efficient. I really enjoyed see this very interesting idea of displaying the sushi as boats go around . We found everything tasty .

As a frequent customer of their sister location Shima in Hialeah, I was excited to see them open up in my neighborhood. Decided to go on a Tuesday around 6pm and based on what I've heard it's the best time to go if you want to avoid the long lines. We waited less than 10 minutes and were able to get seating around the bar. For those that have never been the dishes are floating around the bar and you can grab whatever you want amd they charge you based on plate color. Each plate has a price and they tally up the plates at the end for your final bill. It's a great and fun way to see everything before you get it. All the plates are super fresh which is the best compliment you can give for sushi. Everything from the tuna to the eel to the octopus was amazing. Service was fast and attentive. The hostess was super friendly and accommodating. The overall vibe is great. Parking is the only thing I would say that was tight but outside of that it was a great experience that even my picky 10 year old loved. Definitely a place to check out and one that I will be frequenting often.

With every bite, I felt transported back to Japan. Everything was incredibly flavorful, and the quality of the sushi really stood out. Beyond the food, the service was exceptional. The staff was attentive, welcoming, and thoughtful. They even overheard me telling my husband that my phone was about to die and kindly offered to charge it for me. Those little gestures make such a difference and show how much they care about their guests. The restaurant itself is beautiful, creating a great atmosphere to enjoy the experience. Between the outstanding sushi, beautiful setting, and amazing hospitality, Omakai exceeded our expectations. We would absolutely come back!

The last piece of fish I had tasted like what I can imagine a seawall would taste like. I spent the next half-hr trying to get that taste out of my mouth. I went there for my friend's birthday... I was taking him out. I secretly told the waiter to bring something to commemorate his birthday. The guy did, but there was not the typical group of staff to sing happy birthday. Now I know that that is a strange thing to complain about, but every place I have ever been in my entire life where I have taken a friend for her birthday they always sing happy birthday. Instead, I was stuck singing with the waiter and mostly by myself like a total tool bag. The bill for the two of us was $111. Tip was included by the restaurant. The bottom line is if you want good sushi go to Matsuri on Bird & Red. There are actual Japanese people who eat there, the sushi is way more affordable, and it is at least as good if not considerably better..

While they did offer other options, I opted for the full sushi experience - crispy rice to start and their sushi course for my entree. I went with a friend and we each got a different dessert to try - the matcha rice crispy and the hot chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. Everything was delicious. I love that you got to pick your roll and two hand rolls from the menu yourself, rather than the entire menu be pre-selected. The crispy rice were my favorite bites of the night - the salmon?! So good with the fried leeks or onions on top! Great service - and great happy hour prices for wine or sake!

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a polished, inviting vibe. We had reservations, and the host welcomed us with a warm smile before escorting us to our table. Then came a fun Yelp surprise! Our waiter handed me a little gift from Yelp along with the menu. Talk about starting the meal on a delicious note! For my feast, I ordered the Assorted Crispy Rice, the Sushi Combo for my entrée, and saved room for the warm "Ligers" Cookie. Everything arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and the food was on point. The sushi tasted fresh and was nicely prepared, but the crispy rice stole the show for me! Crunchy, flavorful, and absolutely my favorite of the meal. And that warm cookie? Freshly baked vibes all the way! Soft, warm, and just done right. The perfect little finale. Now, here comes my one Yelp Elite observation... For such a beautifully decorated restaurant, I was surprised by the extremely casual attire. I spotted quite a few guests in gym clothes, while others looked like they had just stepped away from cleaning their house. Listen, I'm all for being comfortable, but when the restaurant has this much style, a little effort in the wardrobe department would definitely complement the experience. A simple dress-code guideline from management could elevate the entire vibe. Great sushi. Great crispy rice. Great cookie. Just bring the restaurant's dress code up to the same level as its food and décor. Overall, a tasty experience with plenty to enjoy, and yes, I'd come back for that crispy rice!

We came in today and asked for the sushi chef "Matsu". We were told he was gone, and we nearly gasped in horror. Server was pleasant and friendly but accidentally put in an order for an onigiri that we never ordered and forgot to put in the order for a black garlic ramen my friend ordered. When we asked about the missing ramen order he quickly went to the back to put in the order but ordered the wrong ramen which was a regular tonkatsu ramen. Another thing that was a little irritating was that the bathroom's paper towel dispenser was empty so you couldn't dry your hands after washing. Given that there was only one other table with two customers during the entire duration of our meal, it seems kind of inexcusable that the employees could not check and replace the dispenser while they were also using during the time of service. Regarding the meal, The black Garlic ramen was decent albeit slightly salty and the texture of the noodles was nice. My friends tonkatsu ramen was a little too creamy for the soup and came with thinner b noodles which was a little disappointing and unexpected as it was not mentioned in the menu that there were any differences in the type of noodles in each ramen choices. The sushi rolls were good. They were well made and flavorful. Overall I would recommend this place and think it's worth a try.
