Lobster roll

Best hand rolls in miami, especially if you are in time for happy hour. I love love Omakai!

Veronica G.

This is my favorite sushi place in Coconut Grove. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. I saw them at the Miami Open and did not think twice about stopping by. I was not expecting the food to be quite as good as it is at the restaurant, but it absolutely was. The main drawback was the packaging, which was not very user-friendly and made it difficult to access the seaweed. Aside from that, everything was great.

Tried the omakase experience for the first time and personally it wasn't for me. I will stick to the normal deluxe option. The presentation was creative and beautiful as always.

A different kind of experience! Came here to grab a bite to eat before going out to explore the area. Started off with the edamame which you can't ever go wrong. Then had a glass of Pinot Grigio - really good! I also had a blue crab hand roll and the salmon tasting. They explained the concept of the salmon tasting and each piece tasted different but delicious. The service was good, our waiter was attentive and answered any questions we had on the menu. It's a beautiful restaurant only one downfall was the super obnoxious table behind us literally screaming and being so loud. We're in a nice place, everyone else is being respectful but this one table. Nobody seemed to speak to them or anything but it ruined the vibe inside.

I got the 10 piece omakase to-go box and was in love! Along with the 10 pieces of nigiri, the meal also came with a bite of soba noodles, 2 maki rolls and 3 pieces of salmon sashimi. I loved that the box comes with a guide on best order to eat and pair. This "to-go" omakase box was so fresh and I highly recommend!

So as I'm sure you all know this location is very beautiful. They have a couple scattered all over town but we really wanted to go to this location. I absolutely love the food, I love the energy in the building and the service was top notch. I think the reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because although the environment was extremely welcoming and the food was really good, it felt as though we weren't super welcome. You guys can go over my check ins, I am a variety eater. I love a good hole in the wall and I love a 5 star Michelin situation as well but it felt very unwelcoming to me and my kid. Yes we weren't dressed the way they needed us to (we were just running in and out) but the environment wasn't super welcoming when it comes to solo dates with my 11 year old. We had a great time, the service was still so top notch and very rushed but it wasn't super welcoming to us but we still had a great time! And we'll be back. Thank you for having us!

Okami ( white). Blue fin tuna lean cut belly , chutoro ( top) fatty blue fin tuna. I prefer the Okami of the 3.

Stopped in for the cool air conditioning and refreshing glsushi on a hot day in Miami. I love the Oma and my hubby gets the Ima Deluxe. I don't care for a blue crab, so I asked to substitute the blue crab hand roll for something and they subbed yellow tail for me. We always have such a great experience at the Omakai in Coconut Grove. The hostesses and our waiter were very friendly and helpful. The food is great quality and delicious . My only callout is they don't have low sodium soy sauce, but they do offer gluten-free, which is tamari. I highly recommend this place for lunch! ( note to self : next time I'd try to order the verlaso salmon in ponzu sauce , the smoked sea bream and the Okami. I also enjoyed the yellow tail and hamachi. Those were my favorite! The Oma course was way too much food for me ! )

The place is nice and vibrant. We came here for lunch and all of us had the Oma omakase. The dishes did take quite a bit to come out each round so I wouldn't come here if you are in a rush. Our server was helpful, he explained the menu and all of the dishes although he didn't seem very enthusiastic. As for the food, I thought the nigiri courses as well the handrolls were very good. It was worth the value and not extremely expensive, although this course will not get you full at all and the handrolls are quite small. Do recommend to try!

Gaby R.

My boyfriend and I had an incredible dining experience at Omaki in the Grove. He originally wanted to go all-in with the chef's experience which was 16 courses, but I wasn't sure I could handle that much food so we compromised and went with the Deluxe Experience which was 12 courses instead. And honestly, It was the perfect choice. Every single piece we were served was absolutely phenomenal. The attention to detail, the freshness of the fish, the balance of flavors. To top it off, we added the Wagyu Roll on the side, and that was a mouthwatering in itself. Rich, tender, and perfect. The atmosphere was intimate and relaxed, and the staff was great from start to finish. The tables a little close to ea h other but other than that we were completely impressed. Whether you're a sushi lover or just looking to treat yourself to something memorable, Omaki is 100% worth it, and reasonable compare to other omaki experiences. I'm already thinking about when we can go back, maybe next time I'll go for all 16 courses!

Happy hour Hamachi & Tuna nigiri

Some of the best & most affordable omakase. Their happy hour & lunch specials are also a great deal. Extremely fresh sushi, literally melts in your mouth!

Carolina C.

Came to OMAKAI for well the omakai experience. The restaurant is stunning with subtle ambient lighting reeling you in. We got the OMA, and each bite was divine. The fish was melt in your mouth fresh, each with a different subtle seasoning to change it up a bit. The salmon with lemon and sea salt was absolutely vibrant. The bluefin tuna was my personal favorite, highlighting the fish overall. The servers were attentive, but that just meant that I was in and out in less than an hour, so the experience was quite quick.

Lauren N.

This place is decent for sushi. I got their oma bite to go. It came in a really cute bento box that had instructions on which order to eat the pieces and which soy sauce to use for each piece of fish. Their edamame was good but could benefit from a little sauce. The oma bite is a good amount of food if youre not starving, but still hungry and want a good taste of sashimi, nigiri, and a sushi roll. Pretty good sushi, not the best tasting ive ever had, but really good place to order from when youre in a pinch.

Matthew K.

My favorite omakai spot. Recommend the Oma Deluxe, Toro Truffle, and Wagyu Uni. Great atmosphere and staff. Consistent quality!

They sell bottles of wine, imported olive oils, lots of (mostly European) wines by the glass, and light bites like charcuterie, small pizzas and popcorn. We've come here a few times, our dog was welcome, staff were friendly and outgoing, offering us various tabletop games like tic-tac-toe to pass the time, and once we'd both ordered a few glasses of wine, they offered us complimentary popcorn - something they normally charge for. Wines on their "by the glass" menu average about $16 each, and most staff pour them behind the bar where they have a gauge to measure out each one. The food prep area behind the bar is quite small (which is why they don't have a large menu), but so is this little gem of a wine spot in general. It's cozy, eclectic and great for a glass of wine and a small snack, or a nightcap after having dinner elsewhere. It's good for singles at the bar, or an intimate spot for couples and smaller groups. Vinoteca seems to have found their niche, and they've filled it quite nicely. That said, I'm not sure the staff, at least the ones working on the nights we've come, have a lot of knowledge about wines or are in the position to talk at length about their various selections.

The first location in the River is better imo because the location is bigger, there is plenty more seating than the Grove location. Although, I still enjoyed my time at this location as well. Sooo how it works is that you go inside and pick a bottle of wine from the fridges. You can also order by the glass if you aren't a big drinker or if you want to try different wines. The bottles are moderately priced depending on your selection. We chose an orange wine and it was nice, very refreshing, you can really get that citrus essence with every sip. Another thing that they have is that you can pick different cheeses and meats and they will build you a charcuterie board. I love this because it is all based on your selection, nothing will go to waste. They also have food you can order. A lot of people love the nuggets with caviar. I think they are decent imo but I'm not like in love with them. Parking can be a bit annoying... If there isn't street parking, you can also park in the garage. The service was good, the staff was friendly. The only thing that was a hassle was getting a table. We had to wait a bit in order for a table to become available. Overall, this spot is a very cozy place to hang and mingle with friends.

As others have stated, Magie is good in concept and we'll likely return here, but with just a bit…read moremore effort on their part this wine bar could be so much better IMO. Unlike some other reviewers that scoffed at the prices of the wine, that didn't bother me so much. We had a bottle here that cost $55 and it retails for about $28; I was OK with that, as all restaurants and wine bars have a markup above retail, and even when you go to spots like Happy Wine or El Carajo and pick out a bottle to drink while in their shop, they charge a corkage fee for that. What I did have a problem with is that, after the "service charge" and other fees were added on, our $55 bottle rang up to more than $73 in total, which was ludicrous. When we first arrived at Magie we were met by a young guy who pointed out the bottles and where the various charcuterie items are located in the coolers, and we were then pretty much left on our own. We really just wanted a glass of wine each, but unlike places like Vinoteca, here at Magie they had a very limited selection of wines by the glass, and the ones available all seemed to come in single-serve cans. We picked out a bottle to share, went to the register, paid and the guy opened it and handed us 2 glasses. When I returned to get napkins, the guy just motioned to where the napkins were so I could grab my own (after moving a delivery cart out of the way by myself so I could reach them). Again, though this place includes an automatic "service charge", we received zero actual "service" unless one considers the 45 seconds it takes to uncork our bottle and charge us for the purchase. We had a seat, had a glass of wine each and then re-corked our bottle of wine and took it with us. Overall I think Magie is a great concept with lots of potential. The inside seating area is interestingly decorated and outfitted with lots of eclectic furniture and items on the walls, and the relatively large patio seating out front with tables for 2 to 8 people is shielded from the adjacent street/traffic and shaded by lots of trees and greenery. The ambiance overall is really very nice. The service, however, was non-existent, especially considering the automatic charge for that, and while prices of at least some wines aren't terribly out of line, the fact that all the service charges, taxes and fees added $20 to the cost of our bottle was a bit of a shocker. Magie should consider adding more wines by the glass IMO. Not just subpar quality single-serve cans, but decent wines, poured from a proper bottle with a topper that preserves the wine between pours like most every quality wine bar commonly offers. Lastly, while I don't think anyone expects linen napkins and white glove service, the paper plates and plastic cutlery customers are given to eat with are a bit off vs. what this place appears to be trying to be and the prices charged. The "F*ck Brunch" positioning statement on the back of the staffs' shirts was an interesting touch.

As soon as we sat down, I politely asked if we could be moved. The manager then told me that I had booked bar seating, which is simply not true. Why would anyone reserve bar seating a month in advance for Valentine's Day? I checked my reservation confirmation myself and it never stated that, and I even tried making another reservation to verify ..bar seating wasn't even an option. He told us he would "see what he could do," and we were left waiting at the bar with no water, no menus, no service, and no communication whatsoever. Meanwhile, we watched multiple couples get seated at proper tables back-to-back. At one point, we even overheard another couple say their reservation was at the same time as ours, and they were seated at a table immediately. When I tried to politely ask for an update, the manager or owner completely ignored me. No acknowledgment, no apology, nothing. I was honestly in shock at how disrespectful and dismissive they were. We ended up getting up and leaving because of how uncomfortable and disrespected we felt. Valentine's Day is supposed to be special, and this restaurant completely ruined that experience.

A restaurant that still comes to mind months later is usually doing something right, and this visit confirmed what we loved about our first experience. We made reservations without any issues a couple of days before. The restaurant was clean, bright, and had not filled up yet with the busy Sunday family crowd. Upon being seated, we were provided with the regular menu and the Miami Spice Lunch menu. The Miami Spice Lunch, which has now become a daily Executive Lunch special, is a standout value. The portion sizes and the quality of the Argentinian steaks speak for themselves. As a group, here's what we ordered: Starters - Ham and Cheese Empanadas - Morcilla - Grilled Provolone Each starter delivered exactly what you'd expect from an Argentinian steakhouse. The empanadas were warm and flaky, the morcilla was rich and well seasoned, and the grilled provolone came out bubbling and perfect for sharing amongst our table with the restaurant's complementary bread basket. Entrée: - New York Strip Steak, 12 oz This was the only cut of steak we ordered. It was cooked to each of our desired temperatures and seasoned simply, letting the quality of the beef speak for itself. It is clear why La Cabrera has a reputation as one of Latin America's best restaurants. Sauces on the side, which included a BBQ sauce, and a chimichurri, were left for our choosing and were used for the side dishes more than anything. Sides: - French Fries - Jasmine Rice Both sides complemented the steak well. The fries were crispy and large in size. My father-in-law, a cuban man who's very serious about his rice dishes, thought the jasmine rice was very good. Dessert: - Dulce de Leche Ice Cream with Cone - Dulce de Leche Pancakes The ice cream was smooth and rich, while the pancakes were finished with a sugary powder coating that was impossible to resist. This lunch reinforced why La Cabrera continues to be stand out in a crowded field of steakhouses. Between the consistency, generous portions, and the value of their daily menu specials, it's an easy recommendation whether you're bringing family, hosting someone from out of town, or simply looking for a great lunch in Coconut Grove.

I came to Vinya with three of my friends after a spa day across the street. We loved the ambiance…read moreand vibe of the place. It's really clean and perfect for dates and groups as well. We received great, friendly, and attentive service by Jofrey. We enjoyed the short rib tacos, oysters, meat balls, grilled olives from the happy hour menu and the mussels, beets burrata, and tiramisu tres leches from the main menu. Everything was flavorful and delicious. We also tried their Cool Breeze and Mula Naranja mocktails, but very different but refreshing. Absolutely enjoyed them. If you are in the area, do not hesitate to stop by. It's really nice place. *Tip was not automatically included on the bill and suggested tip started at 18%

It's cute, moody, but not over done so perfect for date night or girls night. All their wines are great and you can't beat the price at $9 a glass. They recently extended the happy hour from 6pm to 7pm which I'm glad!! Now the food - I have never had a bad item from here. I will forever talk about their bacon wrapped dates (not pictured). And this trip I absolutely fell in love with the spinach cheese dip. My one complaint is why does it only come with three toasties? I had to ask for more, which they gladly accommodated me - and the same with the guys next to me. But if you're bringing me a whole bowl of deliciousness, I need more than three toasties with it!!!
