Delicious sushi lunch! The rolls are enormous and incredible, specifically the jalapeño hibachi and the surf & turf. Excellent atmosphere and service as well. Can't wait to come back!

Sat at the bar during a super busy Saturday night. The service was attentive although it did take a bit long. The nigiri platter was exceptional and super flavorful. My friend ordered a mango roll and was also super satisfied.

The service was good. The place was not very full and there was a pleasant ambiance. For starters we got Tara's Tuna and it was not my favorite spicy tuna, wouldn't order it again. The crab salad was good, it was nothing too special but it is not bad. As for the rolls, the Brie roll was amazing! I love the creative addition of Brie, it went really well with the torched salmon. The Holt roll was also amazing, it is really light and fresh and doesn't feel too heavy since it doesn't have rice. The sexy mama roll was also good as well as the salmon and spicy tuna temaki.

A nice sushi bar in the middle of coconut grove. It is beautifully decorated inside and you can tell that they put a lot of effort in making an aesthetic experience. The food is totally passable and they have a decent size happy hour menu. I actually came here for happy hour and had a pleasant time. I really appreciated the waiters who would refill the water in my glass the second it was running low. The food was fine, edamame needed more salt and the sushi was good. I was a little disappointed to see that there were no vegetarian options in the happy hour menu but that is somewhat the status quo for sushi bars. Overall, a nice place to have a meal. A bit overpriced even for some of the happy hour options but very beautiful and with great staff.

Varsol is the spinoff Coconut Grove version of the Miami Classic, Akashi. I highly recommend it, especially the Happy Hour specials. So many unique rolls and beautifully presented. The spot is nestled in the Grove, and it is so pretty and modern on the inside. Definitely underrated in my opinion. Of course, they also serve classic rolls like the Alex #2 for the loyal Akashi fans.

Passing by in the Grove and heard some of excellent 80/90s music with a full patio of customers enjoying the evening. My husband and I walked a few doors down and both looked at each other and let's go back to Varsol! We opted to go inside thinking it was quite empty, however to our surprise the back area was a happening as the patio. Issac immediately to care of us albeit he had a party of 8, and several 4 tops and a few couples. He managed it like a boss! We got a French White wine, saki recommended by Issac "winter mist" both outstanding. Followed by a tuna tataki app ( highly recommend) and a Sexy mama roll and the spider roll! All superb and large orders. I'm certain the other raw rolls are good I just have to wait a bit to try those after I get the clear thumbs up . The evening manager and or owner thanked us on the way out which was lovely and we expressed our gratitude to have had Issac as our server! Def be back when we're here.

Looking for a place to eat during the mango strut event in the Grove. Yelped the restaurants in the area and our group (5) voted for sushi. Our waiter Jose or "Junior" was very hospitable. The food was awesome. Their dipping sauce was better than plain soy sauce. The happy hour cocktails were rocking. Tuna tartare super yummy. We cleaned our plates!

Food was great but the service was disappointing. The staff did not acknowledge, food came before the drinks and server did not follow up to close us out. Hope to give another try

Wednesday October 9 2024 at 05:20pm Bartender could not be any ruder. I was the only patron here and was treated so poorly. I don't care how good the food is poor service is the death of restaurants No wasabi, ginger and or soy was offered? By the way bartender sorry my service wasn't important enough to distract you from watching the Phillies/Mets game! Lastly greet your customers like they belong and not as if we are an inconvenience to you!

The quality of the food was ok. We liked the Gyosas , but nothing really got our attention. We went early, so the ambiance was a bit empty. The service was good.

I've been to Varsol multiple times, mainly for their crispy rice (Tara's Tuna). It's amazing, one of the best in Miami. The servers are always friendly and the ambiance is relaxed, yet classy. I am always greeted by the server within a couple minutes of sitting down. I usually start with the Tara's Tuna and then try a new roll for my entree. Last time I tried the Brie Roll which was essentially a salmon avocado roll topped with smoked brie. Not sure I would order it again, but it wasn't terrible. Varsol also offers no hard liquor. All of the "cocktails" are made with their house sake blend. I wish they had a slightly better alcohol list for the elevated level of dining they offer. Overall, if you're going to visit Varsol for one thing, go for the crispy rice. It's no joke.

First, the food was delicious. Can't take that away from them. My husband and I took our moms for lunch on Mother's Day and ordered a ton. We got the fish katsu, and then a bunch of rolls: sunset, mermaid, tuna steak, jalapeño, mango, and tempura. All delicious. My personal fave was the mango. But we left very few pieces at the end - so, safe to say it was enjoyed unanimously. Our server and the little flies constantly pestering the plates were the only downsides. We constantly had to repeat ourselves often about very simple things; she asked us 3 separate times if we wanted to-go boxes. Not sure what was confusing about "yes please, two boxes" that needed three separate visits. And simple things like having a towel for the bottle of wine - if she wasn't going to pour it for the table, there should at least be a towel so it doesn't drip ice water all over the table or our laps. I watched her watch us try to avoid getting water on the table or on ourselves, and she made no effort to *serve the table* as a *server* would. It should probably also be said that our reservation was shortly after they opened, so it was very empty when we got there. When it came time for the check, she brought over the little tap pay device, showed the whole table the check, asked if we wanted to split it - it's Mother's Day(?), I feel like it's an implied no on splitting it, and then had the audacity to say there's an automatic 20% tip lol 20% for subpar service. The runners at the restaurant were efficient, polite and very quick - but our actual server was high maybe? I don't know. Outside of the service, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the natural light and ambiance is what made us choose this spot for our mom's...I recommend it, but our server just didn't do it for us.

I took advantage of their 4 course $60 dinner special (not listed on their website but offered every day, including weekends) and went with the Caesar Salad, 14 oz skirt steak, fries and flan. Each dish was very good, the steak was cooked a perfect medium rare, the fries were crispy and good, and the flan was probably the best I've ever had. I enjoyed a very good glass of Malbec reserve with my meal. La Cabrera also offers a $39 lunch special. Ambiance was charming and the service was also very good. Far superior choice, food wise, to Chop.

After enjoying a fantastic dinner here back in January for my wife's birthday, it felt only right…read moreto return to La Cabrera Coconut Grove in August to bring my wife's father for a Miami Spice Lunch outing. A restaurant that still comes to mind months later is usually doing something right, and this visit confirmed what we loved about our first experience. We made reservations without any issues a couple of days before. The restaurant was clean, bright, and had not filled up yet with the busy Sunday family crowd. Upon being seated, we were provided with the regular menu and the Miami Spice Lunch menu. The Miami Spice Lunch, which has now become a daily Executive Lunch special, is a standout value. The portion sizes and the quality of the Argentinian steaks speak for themselves. As a group, here's what we ordered: Starters - Ham and Cheese Empanadas - Morcilla - Grilled Provolone Each starter delivered exactly what you'd expect from an Argentinian steakhouse. The empanadas were warm and flaky, the morcilla was rich and well seasoned, and the grilled provolone came out bubbling and perfect for sharing amongst our table with the restaurant's complementary bread basket. Entrée: - New York Strip Steak, 12 oz This was the only cut of steak we ordered. It was cooked to each of our desired temperatures and seasoned simply, letting the quality of the beef speak for itself. It is clear why La Cabrera has a reputation as one of Latin America's best restaurants. Sauces on the side, which included a BBQ sauce, and a chimichurri, were left for our choosing and were used for the side dishes more than anything. Sides: - French Fries - Jasmine Rice Both sides complemented the steak well. The fries were crispy and large in size. My father-in-law, a cuban man who's very serious about his rice dishes, thought the jasmine rice was very good. Dessert: - Dulce de Leche Ice Cream with Cone - Dulce de Leche Pancakes The ice cream was smooth and rich, while the pancakes were finished with a sugary powder coating that was impossible to resist. This lunch reinforced why La Cabrera continues to be stand out in a crowded field of steakhouses. Between the consistency, generous portions, and the value of their daily menu specials, it's an easy recommendation whether you're bringing family, hosting someone from out of town, or simply looking for a great lunch in Coconut Grove.
