This has been a favorite place of mine for many years. Over the years, I've come in for a slice of pizza or dough to make my whole or grabbing a sub or some wine or Italian goods! Quick service. My friend and I ordered a pizza to go. Sausage mozzarella and pepperoncini. Reasonable prices as well! Taste is wonderful! Spicy and saucy, just the way I like it!

The service is comically bad and almost endearing? I expected it after reading other reviews. The glowing comments about the pizza made me think it was going to be magical but it was just good.

The Pizza is good better than almost anywhere else in DC. Customer service is Not. They are just not friendly , they will not go out of their way at all. So do not expect kindness or a pleasant experience. Just get your pizza and go. No frills. I do wish they looked happier and acted nicer but idk. Nobody in there is happy. But the pizza is decent. Its a good thing they don't have tables and its just a grab and go because 5 star customer service is not their fortay. It's about a 1-2 star in service. All this to say just called ahead and order over the phone for least interaction.

Vace is a very no frills Italian take out restaurant. They are located a block from the zoo, so I stopped in for a piece of pizza to eat before visiting the zoo. There are no tables or chairs inside or outside, so prepare to take your food on the go. I order 2 slices of pepperoni pizza for $2.50 each. If you are paying with a card, they have a $5 minimum order. My pizza slices took about 3 minutes and they just wrapped them in aluminum foil.

Highly recommend. The sauce is the best part IMO. The pizza was crispy and not floppy. There is a good amount of cheese but not too much. Overall just quality pizza. I give it an 8.3 out of 10.

If you're seeking great pizza in DC that is in the New York vein, look no further than Vace. My partner insisted that we get a pie from here when he was sick, and because pizza is medicine, I agreed, and I'm glad I did because this is without a doubt the best NY-ish pizza I've had in DC. As a born and bred Brooklynite, I would note that the crust is a tad thicker than the thin crust style that defines NY pizza, but Vace does such a great crust that it's still a winner. A LOT of sauce, almost in the Philadelphia tomato pie style, and I initially even wondered where the cheese was. But the cheese was definitely there, and was excellent, and the sauce was very good too. I have to give Vace a hand on the pizza toppings too - they have TWO olive options, one of which is kalamata! Much love for that from this Greek girl. Lastly, I can't hide how bowled over I was by the price - the entire large pizza, with tax, was under $22. That definitely beats New York right now because a good PLAIN pie from a pizzeria there will probably run you closer to $25 these days, at least. I live close to Vace, so will definitely be back for more great pizza (and apparently their other offerings are worth trying too).

Amazingly, I'd never reviewed this place despite its location near the Cleveland Park Metro and its longstanding status. As a deli, it includes a large amount of meat that I don't want anything to do with. Some of the small selection of sauces and noodles looked worthwhile for those actually living in the neighborhood. I suspect the fresh food will be the main attraction for most. They sell pizza by the slice at rates that haven't gone up a ton in the several years since I left the area. Notably, they offer a mushroom slice. The mushrooms appear canned, but they go alright on a slice. Mine was heated for perhaps a bit too long, but it was delicious. This is a place that works within a modest scope, but they do it well.

Even the Polpette was extremely delicious, especially for something as simple as meatballs. Now for the main course, the 40-Layer Lasagna was amazing. I will say, though, that after a while, the flavor became so rich that it started to feel a little tiring. The Rigatoni alla Carbonara was also super good. I actually ended up switching with my partner so we could both enjoy the rest of each other's dishes. For dessert, we got the Crème Brûlée. I'd rate it a 4/5. The flavor was different from a traditional crème brûlée, but it was still delicious. Overall, everything was really good, and I would definitely come back to try some of the other dishes!

From the antipasti menu, I enjoyed their Verde salad, the Carciofi, and the Hamachi Crudo. The hamachi was a highlight; it was so fresh and bright. For mains, we got the pomodoro and bolognese pastas. These were alright. The pasta itself was a little harder than al dente unfortunately. But the flavor of the sauces were yummy. I loved the dessert! We had the chocolate cake and the creme brulee. These were among the best bites of the night. Restrooms were large and mostly clean. Wasn't expecting them to be as ornate (or as dark inside) as they were. Downside is that the restrooms are right next to the kitchen area so wait staff were constantly moving and I was worried about tripping someone.

The hostess told us we likely wouldn't sit until 9:45 so I inquired about the bar and the manager quickly stepped in to put us on a waitlist. Since the restaurant is connected to a food hall of sorts, she recommended we grab a drink there while we wait. Shortly after we got our drink, we received notification of an opening and were seated by 8:15. We had the burrata appetizer, Ragú x 2, and the seafood fra diavolo. The burrata was one of the best I've had since they serve it with pesto, pine nuts, and garlic bread. It was truly divine! The Ragú was not far behind. Incredible flavor and a generous portion. The seafood dish had a nice kick and had plenty of seafood, which is not common as of late. All dishes were also priced reasonably for the quality you received. As we sat at the bar, we had pleasant conversation with the bartender and finished our meal with a small cannoli that really sealed the deal.
