Found the place super accommodating for last minute booking and the staff were super attentive in my ordering of the food. The place has the Italian villa aroma and has a very clean vibrance. The food I order were the rib eye , carbonara, and the pana cotta. I forgot to ask about birthday special and noticed usually it's the tiramisu that's the bday gift. Otherwise food was delicious when super hot. When it got cooler the food started to get salty and noticed I drank more and more water. Otherwise great experience.

A good amount of GF options and dishes that can be modified. I got the Caesar salad and the branzino and both were absolutely delicious!

I was super excited to try this place, Italian food is one of my personal favorites. The spot is really cute both inside and out. It has a great vibe for an intimate dining experience and I really enjoyed that. What I didn't enjoy was the lack of space to do so, tables are tiny and super close together. And we actually had asked to be relocated from our original placement due to a really cold air vent blowing down on me at our table. Our server did accommodate this request right away and was super helpful. We ordered the bruschetta appetizer which was delicious. I ordered the short rib pappardelle for my main dish, this was excellent as well and the perfect portion. I will say while I really loved the food here, it was not anything special. The prices were quite high for basic Italian food. I've had better and cheaper in Italy and elsewhere. I know it's DC and that's one of the reasons for the higher prices but with the shear amount of restaurants we have to choose from, I might rethink the menu or lower the prices.

Transforms you to a cute cafe in Europe! Food- bright, fresh, and flavorful. Drinks- nice variety of cocktails and mocktails. Space- simple and classy decor. Service-Muhammad was friendly professional and attentive. Gave great suggestions.

To celebrate a friend's birthday, we made a reservation for a Wednesday at 6 p.m. simply because they have many gluten-free options for an Italian restaurant. Here's our experience. 1) Food: Before our ordered food came out, a small plate of bread came out. Some of it was soft and other pieces more hard. To start, we ordered the Caesar salad, which was flavorful. It had a more anchovy taste compared to other ones I've had, but it was still good. For our main, we got the lasagna for my nine-year-old daughter, cacio e pepe (which is made at your table), lemon chicken, and gluten-free tagliatelle, lemon, and burrata. Everything was good, but the most impressive is their gluten-free pasta. 2) Drinks: Their menu includes many wines, beer, and cocktails. Enjoying more sweet drinks, I loved the Farfalla Rossa with lychee. It was very refreshing! 3) Service: It was a little hit or miss, but that happens. There were long gaps between courses and it took a long time to get the bill. 4) Space: It's very quaint and homey. We loved it! 5) Area: Parking can be hard to find especially during rush hour so consider taking the Metro. After 5pm, you can usually find parking by The Washington Post a few blocks north.

Italian food made with precision and character. All of the dishes were well prepared and we loved all of them. Crudo di hamachi - thin slices of perfection because the meat of the yellowtail is light, buttery and refreshing. The drizzle of oil and the tomatoes gave it a nice touch of richness and acidity. Spaghetti cacio e pepe - creamy goodness from the pecorino and parmigiano cheeses with a touch of fresh cracked pepper on top. Piccata limone e salvia - perfectly cooked chicken with a lemony sauce. The chicken soaked up the citrus from the lemon and complemented with the wine reduction.

Must have caught them on a bad night. The service was shy and felt like the minimum. The salad was mediocre as the greens weren't the highest quality/the freshest. The fritto primavera wasn't very fritto--it was soft fried and had no crispness; I honestly probably should have sent it back. This meal was not worth $50 ($60 after tipping). I did like the ambience. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas and the lighting was very intimate. Upon receiving the check, there was also a surprise 3% 'Restaurant Surcharge.' It wasn't gratuity or a credit card fee, just a surcharge--wth?! So watch out!

Interior is very cute and nicely decorated. It feels very classic. We went for lunch and got the calamari, seafood pasta and carbonara. The seafood pasta was great! Really flavorful and didn't lean fishy at all. The service was nice but we did ask for water and got bottled water which we did not know was not free haha It was like $10 sorta crazy

We had a large party for dinner here ~ 35 people. Olio was the only restaurant that could accommodate us. I will say it took a while to get the complete drink, starter and dinner orders in so we didn't eat dinner until 2 hours later. I'd highly recommend giving multiple servers for big parties to speed things up as the kids and adults alike grew very tired and hangry after a long eventful day and weekend as a whole. We started with the olio caesar, burrata al pomodoro, crudo di hamachi, fennel & shrimp insalata, grilled octopus, and polpette della nonna. For dinner, every option was ordered amongst the group and although no one liked the food besides 3 of us, I thoroughly LOVED the spaghetti alle vongole and the cavatelli lamb ragù. I would come back to DC just to eat them both. We ended on a light note with three scoops of the gelato assortments. Vanilla will always be for me and surprisingly the raspberry flavor was very good too.

We made a 6pm reservation for a Thursday evening before a show at the National Theater. (Convenient location, theater lovers!) The restaurant was beautifully decorated inside and out for the holiday season. I forgot to take pictures of the outside, but I looked like a high-end hotel with huge wreaths over the windows and white lights. We noticed it even just driving by looking for parking. Inside, they had white lights, evergreen bows, fresh greenery, which was just warm and inviting. We were just a trio, but I did see long family style seating for large parties of 8 to 10, plus some bar seating, in addition to traditional four-tops. I had the mocha espresso martini, which was a little bitter like other reviewers had mentioned, but I actually liked it that way. My friend brought her daughter with us, and she ordered the nonalcoholic "NON IL FARFALLA ROSA" cocktail made with lychee, cranberry, lemon, and nonalcoholic Prosecco. (See pic with floating flower.) She said she enjoyed it. We started out with the bruschetta as an appetizer. It was two large pieces with burrata, tomato, garlic, basil, and a balsamic drizzle. I think they use a touch of sea salt to make them burrata really pop. It was very tasty. My friend had the TAGLIATELLE DI BOSCO, pasta with mixed mushrooms. Her daughter had the TROFIETTE AL PESTO E FAGIOLINI, pasta with pesto. I was torn between the SPAGHETTI CACIO E PEPE and the PICCATA LIMONE E SALVIA; based on another Yelp review, I ordered the latter. I think I ended up with some "diner's remorse," because it was fine but it was nothing to write home about. The chicken medallions were not very lemony, and the veggies were overcooked and limp. Portion size was OK, but I was glad I had an appetizer because I was still fairly hungry by the end of dinner. My friend and I both had a glass of Pinot Grigio to go with our meals, which was light, sweet, and paired nicely with our entrées. For dessert, my friend and her daughter shared the chocolate mousse and I had the tiramisu. The tiramisu was a good portion, but it wasn't as espresso forward as I personally prefer. But the mascarpone cream tasted a very fresh and fluffy. Our server Christian was friendly and attentive. He fixed our uneven table for us so it stopped wobbling as well. The only true negative would be the noise level inside the dining room. It's an open kitchen and an open dining room and an open bar, all in one space, so it was very loud at times. Difficult to have a quiet, private, or intimate conversation should you want one. Otherwise, it's a solid pre-theater choice and we enjoyed the meal and ambience, especially during the holiday season.

The place was pretty packed with everything from business to a bridal shower party. I really enjoyed how simple and inviting the place was for conversation. Being with other co-workers, I didn't want that place that I was screaming over everyone to have a conversation. More importantly, it wasn't that 20 year old vibe of being 4 deep at a bar begging for a drink. It was an elevated crowd that wanted a drink after work or a place to decompress. Oddly enough, there was even a guy there who whipped his laptop out to work while drinking and eat at the bar. Kinda different but hey, to each their own. Overall, this was a total win for me as it was still a weekday and exactly what I was looking for. Service at the bar was spot on and overall a secret win that Yelp help guide me towards. The food at this location was great. The red snapper with the rice and tomatoes was very flavorful. The red snapper could have been cooked a little harder. However, other than that it was great. However, the experience started on a rough note. When checking in at the Marriott, the front desk agent was quite rude and incorrectly insisted the restaurant was already closed. The African American guy behind the counter definitely needs some etiquette lessons or at least needs to be trained if he is supposed to be the face of Marriott Capitol Hill. Fortunately, we went up to the rooftop anyway. They seemed short-staffed, but the bartender stepped in to serve us and was absolutely wonderful. Lighting could be better, IMO it's a little too dark for my liking. The food was also a bit hit-or-miss. The sweet chili shrimp appetizer was fabulous, hot, and featured a great portion size. For the entree, I had the Trout a lo Macho. The presentation was beautiful and it arrived piping hot, but unfortunately, the mussels were not cleaned properly and still had dirt in them. For the price, the food could have been a bit more polished, though the portions were appropriate. Pros: Great rooftop views, excellent bartender service, and reasonable on-site parking ($8/hr or $12 for 2 hours, which is great for DC).
