While the White Mushroom Truffle pizza and the Margharita pizza had some good flavor, it wasn't that fresh. My biggest pet peeve about NY style pizza places is that it's impossible to snag a hot slice out of the oven. When the pipping hot pizza is taken out of the oven, it's tucked under the display case. By the time the pizza pie is depleted from the display case, the hidden pizza gets cold as it's finally moved up. The cycle repeats itself...so you can never get a hot fresh slice of pizza. The Garlic Knots were hands-down the best part of my oil! I wish I could order a single knot as I didn't really want 3 knots. While the Chicken and Eggplant Parm are heavily promoted on flyers at the tables, I didn't see them on the menu, it would have been helpful to see before ordering. There's plenty of seating upstairs. Unfortunately my visit to We, The Pizza was pretty disappointing. Although the cashier was very nice and welcoming, I cannot justify waiting nearly 40 minutes for one slice of pizza and three garlic knots. The pizza was on the drier side (lacking some sauce and honestly not warm enough given how long we waited). The garlic knots were good enough but not worth a 40 minute wait, in my opinion. There was a large party upstairs that may have been responsible for the slow service but we left some time after them and noticed a super long line of folks still waiting for their food. read more

We ordered both well done and received a nice crispy edge on the crust but with all the toppings it's damn near impossible to get a strong enough base to avoid bend. It's worth the compromise- trust me! Both were delicious but I'll skip the detroit crust next time, and there will be a next time. For me the detroit crust was a bit spongy and had a slight yeast taste. Not enough to ruin the experience but enough for me to choose a different crust next time. We also got the ranch for dipping - new experience. That too wasn't for me. The ranch is homemade and great texture and flavor just not what I expected. It had a heavy dill flavor...yep...dill. Love the pizza and hand made sodas here! The crust on the pizza is so crispy and the handmade soda flavors are very original. There are no refills for the handmade sodas, but once you're done you can refill it with fountain soda downstairs, all self serve. It's conveniently located close to the Library of Congress, so it's a great spot to stop by for lunch or dinner. They have plenty of seating upstairs. It's clean, bright, and spacious. The chicken bacon ranch Detroit was not a very good pizza. The chicken tasted like it was frozen nuggets... ...And not the good ones, these lil nuggets came from the $5 section at wallyworld...and sit in the freezer for months until you do a deep clean, because you're not evil enough to feed the neighborhood dog that trash.. After purchasing additional ranch and mambo sauce(2$ up charge) and pulling of the frozen turd nuggets. I was able to finish my lunch, which was basic just the crust....sick...that's what I paid $20 bucks for...crust... I wanted this to be a four star experience because the staff here are awesome. The Detroit-style slice just did not deliver the way I hoped. When I got my slice, one side was piping hot with the cheese bubbling and the edges crisping. The other side was lukewarm. It was basically room temperature. I asked if they could reheat it and because of food safety, which is totally fair, they handed me a fresh slice. Big points for that. Unfortunately, the second slice had the same problem. The edges heated up but the middle stayed kind of meh. I do not think this is a staff issue. Detroit-style just does not work well with the per slice reheat model. If you are grabbing a classic slice, go for it. If Detroit-style is calling your name, I would recommend getting a whole pie so you can get that fresh out of the oven magic. read more

It is located on Capitol Hill, so their interest has been to consistently provide high quality pizza to staff on the Hill and local government employees. Their pizza is delicious. The have approximately 14 pizzas in rotation. I appreciate that their ingredients are fresh, natural, and many sourced locally. Their sausage is from Logan's Sausage in northern Virginia. Some of their ingredients are organic. The end product is a high-quality pizza. I also like their house-made soft drinks. As is the case with many restaurants along this side of Pennsylvania Avenue, the restaurant has two levels. The main dining room is on the 2nd floor. There are televisions on the 2nd floor and the layout is comfortable. The only inconvenience of the 2nd floor is the soda fountain is on the first floor. A soda fountain on the 2nd floor would be ideal. Also, their cookies are baked fresh and absolutely delicious. There have been times I've visited We, The Pizza just for their cookies. I think pizza is different away from home. This may be something anyone outside Louisiana understands but I did not. Hands down, the BEST pizza in Washington, DC! It's fresh, tasty and a crowd favorite at my office, where we often order WTP pizzas for working lunches. Speaking of orders, I recently experienced an issue with my online order using the Toast Tab app, and somehow the Toast Tab app (inadvertently?) changed my order pickup dates when I made an edit to the order within the Toast Tab app. Fortunately, I was able to speak on the phone with the WTP's wonderful manager, Patricia, who is a role model for exceptional customer service, and helped me resolve the order mixup. Without her prompt and professional assistance, I could've potentially lost $133 on the Toast Tab app order, which meant I would've had to spend another $133 for a new (duplicate) order. If you're a pizza fan (who isn't?!), I highly recommend We The Pizza! I also highly recommend avoiding using the Toast Tab app, which is temperamental; it's much easier and quicker to just call the WTP location you're ordering from, and place an order over the phone with one of the WTP staff. read more

One of the best pizza spots I've been able to enjoy in DC. After living in Brooklyn, I've desperately been looking for a pizza place that makes a decent slice. This is the place. The slices are crispy but not too thin. The sauce is balanced and compliments the cheese well. They also have a decent drink selection.
