tried slices of both the thin and thicker styles - neither were good. the thin was about as floppy as a jumbo slice - crust does not hold up in the least bit. to the point that I had to eat it with a fork on the plate. the thicker slice was better, but was unmemorable - would skip and go to andy's and a detroit spot around vs this. slices were $5+ each which is fine if you can execute read more

Spot inside a little food hall by Capitol Hill. The inside is pretty spacious with tons of seating. I got the esquite loco slice. Very unique and tasted decent. Only rating it a 3 just because it taste like any other pizza. Was nothing special but not bad. If I was in the area I would get it again for not go out of my way for it. read more

While the pizza had good flavor when served hot, it unfortunately lost its appeal quickly as it cooled. The more serious issue, however, was experiencing what felt like a mild case of food poisoning later that day. As this was the only food I had consumed, I have to attribute it to the pizza. I understand the 'New York style' of leaving pizzas out for slices, but it seems they may be keeping them out beyond a safe time limit. read more

First, I wanted to say that it's been wild to see this area transform in the last 10 years. It was a pizza spot, then another restaurant, and now an eatery filled with multiple small restaurants. I had passed by Slice Joint last week, and said I would come back soon, which ended up being today. I got a slice of the Fun Girl and the Nutcracker. Both are delicious, but the Nutcracker has so much flavor! The pesto is fresh, just the right amount of cheese, garlic, and savory tomatoes. The fun girl is a deep dish, and the Nutcracker is thin crust. They also have great service, as they brought over a carafe of water and a cup for me to drink while I waited for my food to go. read more

A pizzeria inside a food hall? Doubtful at first, I'm a huge fan. Slice Joint is legit good pizza. They sell pizza by the slice or while pies. Their square pizzas come with the perfect crust- a little crunchy on the outside and very chewy on the inside. The "Esquite Loco" square slice with corn, mozzarella, garlic aioli, parmesan, cilantro, and tajin is so good! Each slice comes with a lime wedge to squeeze on top! For non-pizza lovers, Slice Joint sells salads. read more

Soo I'm being nosy and stumble across this place inside the Rooster So it's like five different stations Pasta, Sushi, salads, Sandwiches, Pizza & Breakfast You scan the QR code for the section your setting in so the server may bring it to your table So being nosey & a foodie I had to try them out I asked a few questions and decided what I would order.... The White Pizza They have about 4-5 pizzas different topped pizzas that are there to choose from The pizza was good... think of it was fresh out the oven I would have given it an exceptional But it wasn't bad...I would return for the other food choices The set up is nice...definitely a nice place I see this being a good place to meet up at any time of the day read more

Tried this spot for the first time and so glad we found it! We had the Supreme Pizza and it was supremely tasty

Out of nowhere and pleasantly surprised! From consistency to taste, aesthetics and anything around or in between...DAMN GOOD PIZZA! Had the "Fun Girl" on the first trip and will be back for it again. Be sure to venture off and look around while your piece is being warmed up...a really cozy space! Great stuff, folks!! read more

OMSlice!!!!!! Wow!!!! I'm truly AMAZED & a New Fan!!! This spot is actually in a location with multiple restaurant choices. They even have a bar if you like to drink and a taco place. Who doesn't love Taco Tuesday?! Food is beyond AMAZING!!! Hot, Fresh & Cheesy. The crust is thin, crunchy yet soft & lust in every bite. Definitely close to NEW YORK slices. They have every pizza condiment you ever need which is a plus! I tried both cheese slices (regular & white pizza). Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of white pizza but it was good, I just prefer sauce in my slice. Next time I'm trying their square pizza! $4 per slice which is a steal since most places in DC sell slices for $5-7 & it's not as good. You can also get a whole pie which maybe what we will get next time. The plate are paper plates made out of porcelain/chinaware.... SOOOOOOOOOOOO COOL! Idk why but this just made it more unique & added a touch of glitter! Customer Service is great! The staff is so nice and helpful! The place is extremely clean, nice and it's a nice atmosphere esp all the bright lights and neon colors. I love colors which is another thing that caught my eyes. My only suggestion is to come earlier before they close since the selection is not as wide as I prob expect it but you still have good choices. Overall, I might be here weekly lol but I'm so serious! read more

I was super excited to try the Slice Joint at the Roost, it didn't disappoint! I'm a huge fan of square slices so was excited to try the square cheese. Overall the pizza was solid with a crunchy crust coupled with a thick but airy bread foundation. The sauce and cheese were also packed with flavor, just a bit saltier than I would've liked. Other than that, I can complain! I'm excited to visit again and try an New York style slice! You have to order via the Roost ordering service which was a little confusing to figure out, but their is staff around the entire food hall to help! But pretty much, you find any open seat and scan the QR code associated with that seat. From there you can order and pay for all your food right from the site. There is both indoor and outdoor seating! read more

since moving from NY to the DMV some 20yrs ago, I simply dont eat pizza, I had given up! The mushroom square thick crust was delicious and the pepperoni also! Fast good service too by ordering on table sign, thank you! The Latin social dancing will guarantee my return! read more

This is my little quiet place. I always order the spicy pepperoni and the mushroom slices! They are both delicious with a Caesar salad. Very clean, legendary customer service , cute ambiance and nice spot to chill and get some alone time or hang and chat. I wish that I had taken a picture. Beautiful presentation. I ordered the square pizza with extra cheese and basil leaves. My ONLY problem was that it was too salty. I am pretty salt sensitive so others might not find this a problem. I probably won't return, but I do recommend this place. read more

They had a pesto-tomato thin crust-style slice that was to die for. Then I took my chances on what seemed to be a street-corn / garlic Sicilian slice... which was even BETTER. Topped with cilantro. So good that I finished it before I even had time to take a photo! read more

One of DC's biggest food blind spots is great NY-style pizza- sometimes you just want a classic, non-artisanal slice. Slice Joint 100% delivers that. We tried the white, Sicilian, and mozzarella special slices, each one knocked it out of the park and honestly felt like being back in NYC. Each slice is around $4 which is probably the best I've seen in the DMV. read more

Not bad, I'm close by so it's a good last minute place to grab some pizza. The pizza is pretty good, I have not tried the square pizza yet but I bet that is good too. A lil pricey but not bad. read more

Food is great, service was disappointing. We ordered a half/half pizza and paid extra for toppings, which included basil on the whole pizza. Basil was missing upon delivery (which we paid $4 extra for) , so I went to the counter. Staff clearly did not want to help me. The woman I spoke to couldn't understand when I said we were missing toppings. I showed her the receipt & the toppings list, and she just pointed to the screen and said there was no order. Then she said my order was a takeout. I told her no, we are sitting over there. She said "one sec" and turned her back to me for the rest of the time, talking to her coworkers about me in Spanish (assuming I don't speak Spanish of course). She did not look at me again, I left and returned with the actual pizza to show her what was missing. She said, "oh basil" & proceeded to put raw basil only half the pizza and said "there you go". Why would I want mouthfuls of raw basil? It's supposed to be cooked in for flavor. The pizza was good, but why pay for toppings we won't get. The staff clearly don't care. I shouldn't have to admit I speak Spanish in order to get what I paid for. read more

The pizza here is great you can either chose from a NY slice, a square pan slice or an entire pie. The service is pretty fast and the pizza comes hot and fresh. They have the usual topping options and slices are around $4 read more

Got a plain cheese slice and the spicy pepperoni square. The plain slice tasted just like a slice I'd have at New York pizza joint. The spicy pepperoni was the real star. It was somewhere in between a grandma style and detroit style pizza. Fluffy dough with crispy edges, with sauce on the bottom, then cheese topped with pepperoni, and spicy chili peppers on top. Definitely will be back. read more

Was excited to finally try this place. Maybe I came on an off day but it wasn't very good. Ordered a cheese and street corn slice. The cheese slice was way to salty as it had way too much cheese and barely any sauce. So greasy it was dripping oil. The crust barely had any crunch, more on the soggy side. Street corn slice was a let down. Had no cilantro on it, and could not taste the mozzarella, parm or tajin. Overwhelming taste of too much garlic aioli with a light corn taste. The dough was dense n greasy with not enough crunch. Didn't really enjoy either slice enough that I'd come back. read more

Best New York style pizza in the DMV! Pro Tip: The medium size cheese pizza is $10 M-F during lunchtime.

Straight forward, tasty pizza. Really great value for your money because the pizzas are huge (compared to other Capitol Hill pizza places). Had pizzas delivered a couple of times and it's been quick and the pies are still hot. If you're hankering for pizza, this is the place! read more

I don't know how this place doesn't have a million five star reviews. My husband and I are both born and raised in NYC. We have been sadly searching for pizza that comes close to what we have grown up with. THIS IS THE BEST PIZZA IN DC. DO NOT GO ANYWHERE IN ELSE. I was at the roost and saw a slice and immediately texted my husband that I found real pizza. Bought a large pie to take home and this is probably the happiest moment in our lives Crust is legit. Texture, size, sauce and cheese are like home. Thank you for bringing real pizza to DC!!!!!! read more

I'm a tough reviewer on pizza. Slice joint deserves "great" - the bread is generous and light and airy. Tough crust? Not here! The sauce is superb. Highly recommend! read more

Love them! My son & I went here after school. We got a large pepperoni, it was so delicious. Nice & Fresh!

Ok for a slice of pizza when you have a expensive beer, but ordering a whole pizza is terrible. The cheese is like milk it makes the crust so soggy. read more

If you ask for a slice, it takes a bit of time because they make whole pies. Yes, the impatience was there, however, wowie!! That was a good pizza. I did see some pizzas pass by and they looked great. Perfectly cooked pepperoni with the crisp edges....Half and half's to your liking. I had a white pizza... taste like buttery perfection. read more

If I could, I'd give it 5 bonus stars. Their square pizza is without question the very best slice of pizza I've had anywhere in the Washington/Baltimore area. It is a cross between a Sicilian, and Detroit style crust. The bottom and side crusts are have a wonderful crispiness and caramelization. Most Sicilian or Detroit pizzas have a denser focaccia bottom. The square pizza at Slice Joint has the same thickness, but the finished baked pie has a lightness to it. Tasting less like a thick bread, but an almost pastry, croissant-y taste. If you are anywhere near this Pennsylvania Ave location, it is well worth the visit. One warning though, after you taste and experience their square slice pizza, you may end up ruined for any other pizza. read more
