Italian Kitchen is not only delicious but their staff are kind, gracious, and caring. We had a large catering order that required their team to pack 600 boxed lunches. The amount of food given in each box was generous. The panini bread was fresh and delicious. The delivery drivers were kind and went above and beyond to make sure our order was where it needed to be in our space. And finally communication from their team to us on delivery timing was 10/10. Tried to go here after a concert. The posted hours said they were open until 11pm but at 10:45pm they were sweeping and said they weren't making any pizza. Place seemed quite dingy with many flies buzzing around so perhaps we were lucky they were closing. read more

I've been a customer since 2019 and the chicken Alfredo has absolutely fell off. Something must have changed with the ingredients because I tried it on Monday and I was about to throw up. We ordered two Lasagnas and Chicken Alfredo with three sodas. Working hours until 11 p.m. during work week. We ordered for take out because they were closing. Prices were around 20$ per person including soda. Meal size is good, worker was polite and nice. Neighbourhood is sketchy during the night, but maybe it's just us because we are not from around here. These guys make one heck of a calzone! The outside crust has a nice flavor and they have mariners sauce inside, which you don't normally see at other places. The portion is perfect and the all meat calzone is one of my favorites now. My wife got the Prima pizza (onions, goat cheese, artichokes, etc) which to me is a crime against nature but her and my mom loved the pizza. My husband and I recently got some takeout from this place. First off, I did appreciate that the food was packaged in such a way that it would make it easy to heat/reheat. Another positive is that the portion sizes are quite generous and the price is quite reasonable. Now to the food itself... I thought everything was a bit "blah", although as I mentioned, it was all very reasonable priced. I tried the: four cheese manicotti, the spaghetti with meatsauce (which was actually a linguine noodle) and the cannoli I with meat. All of the dishes were covered with an unappealing cyst of burned cheese that made the food hard to discern. Other reviewers mentioned that their pizza is great for after bar food, and I would agree that what I tried is probably good for a quick late night meal, but I wouldn't come here expecting anything spectacular! read more

This is the worst Italian food I've had since I visited a Sbarro at a train station ten years ago when I had no other options. The meat quality in the spaghetti and meatballs was so bad I honestly worried I'd get sick. It's clear that the noodles, sauce, and meatballs aren't cooked together. This is really sbarro like where they just mix them together on the plate. And it shows. There is no meat flavor or unctuousness in the sauce, not spice nor herbs nor flavor. It could have been just tomato sauce from a can. The spaghetti had no flavor and weren't cooked in the sauce. I could never eat here again. read more

Craving spaghetti and meatballs so this place was our pick. The dish was pretty good actually, large portion but still managed to inhale in one sitting (I'm disrespectful to my stomach). Came with garlic bread, that was different and too dry and not garlicky enough. I'd say that the person I talked to didn't really know the menu. I asked for fettuccine instead of spaghetti and he told me they only have spaghetti. All the pasta dishes we ordered had fettuccine pasta. Guess the difference is lost. But to me it's important. So at least a pleasant surprise. Delivery seemed slow despite being close to the restaurant and being told 45-50 min. It was an hour but you know that subtle difference when you're starving. During Q3 & Q4 of 2018, I spent some time trying to find a go-to pizza joint close-by (uploading the review now for those on a similar mission, but have given up dairy in 2019), so I decided to give Italian Kitchen on U St. a whirl. I had this nice cheese pizza delivered from UberEats for myself and a friend. At first glance, it is easy to see that there is a quite large crust border around the entire pie with cheese starting about 1.5 inches in from the edge....some may feel differently, but that is not the ideal situation for me. On a 0-10 scale: the pizza score is a 6.3. A just okay pie with no bells and whistles. Cheese was a little greasy, nothing unbearable. VERY doughy. Average dc spot for football or entertaining type pizza. Not artisan or chef inspired in nature, but on par with what you would imagine quality-wise for a place open until 1am. read more

I am a pizza connoisseur and I thoroughly enjoy eating pizza. My go to is always pizza! In DC there's tons of pizza places to choose from but I do have to say that this is a pizza place where when I grab a slice it never disappoints! I just get cheese, I have never ordered anything other than a cheese slice with a side of basil pesto so I can't speak on anything else. But the pizza is great and every time I spend $4.00 on that slice I do know I'm going to be happy. Want a great slice? Come here. Perfect lunch break escape. As far as area, it's on U street so its surrounded by history, bars, lounges etc. Not too far from the u street metro so easy walk. Parking fluctuates depending on day and time. read more

The Manager (Owner?) actually reached out to us on the day of to make sure all the details were correct - he was extremely nice and accommodating; our delivery arrived almost - get this- 30 minutes EARLY!! the staff who delivered even helped me with setting up the table! The breading is just not good, and I noticed it was the same with the piece of garlic bread that came with the pasta. Maybe it's overcooked, but the bread is hard to bite into. No frills local pizza shop. My co-workers all recommended this place for a simple and greasy slice of pizza for lunch, and I am so glad I listened to them. The slice is huge and so comforting.
