Despite the good reviews I have heard about this place, I would give this spot 3/5 stars. The pizza was kind of a let down for me. There's nothing bad per se, it was just ordinary and in my mind did not equate to my expectations coming into this. I probably would be better off ordering dominos for half the price honestly... I got these pizzas to go, but the pizzas were prepared much faster than when I expected (which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you see it). Overall, I'm glad to try this place but won't rushing back anytime soon. read more

I spent the weekend in DC for my birthday and no matter where I am I crave pizza! We went in the evening after a long day! We chose the outdoor seating because I had my dog. The server was so kind he brought my dog water. The service was great, our waiter was very attentive but not annoying. He was very suprised about our ranch consumption lol.. I ordered pepperoni with sausage and onions along with fries and Brussels! The Brussels were perfect. The pizza was so fresh and cheesy! And the fries... so so good. The best oven baked fries I've ever had. My friend got a "build your own pizza " and the waiter called it a random pizza 10/10 service and the food went perfectly with the vibe. Fantastic service. They were accommodating for myself and my service dog. The food was incredible. I got the Buffalo Wings as an appetizer and the 10" Eckington. Both were amazing and left nothing to be desired. The atmosphere of the dining room upstairs was comfortable and warm. Felt like a scene out of a movie. This is one of those spots I consider to be a "hidden gem" because I've never heard anyone talk about it and it's slightly tucked away in the shaw neighborhood. We stumbled upon it while looking for a dog-friendly spot to grab lunch last Saturday. They have a cute patio which is decorated in two very different ways - the covered patio is very classic, wicker chairs and simple decor (with heaters for once the weather turns colder). The open patio has a very trendy decor style, with faux flowers and a cute wall that would make for a nice photo background. The service was great - we were the first ones there for lunch but even as it got busier, our server was always around and ready to help us out. I grabbed a local Senate lager from Right Proper Brewing Co and my husband grabbed an Amber beer. We started with the French fries and Brussel sprouts, which were good. My husband felt the brusell sprouts were a little undercooked, but I liked them as-is. For pizza: he did a plain cheese and I got the Randolph Place. I loved that so many of the names were true to DC and paid homage to neighborhoods!! I would describe the pizza as similar to a dominoes pizza style - but waaayyyy elevated. They aren't on the same tier at all, but I draw the comparison when thinking of crust thickness; that style of pizza I haven't really had anywhere else. This place uses the highest quality ingredients, everything was fresh, and the pizza was cooked to the PERFECT level of done-ness. Crispy crust, beautiful bubbling of the cheese, and the sauce is JUST right. Next time I was to try one of their organic cocktails which are advertised, and maybe the mozz sticks, which look bomb! This spot, Andy's Pizza, and Della Barba hold the title as top 3 pizza joints in DC (in my mind). Go check them out! read more

On a quick trip to DC, when a friend asked if there was a good pizza place in the area, I remembered Bacio's quaint patio on a side street in Shaw. I'm glad I did because on a surprisingly cool summer evening, there was little more one could ask for than sipping on an Aperol spritz here and sharing a bruschetta as the afternoon winded down. We shared a pizza with gorgonzola and caramelized roasted garlic, and a Nona option with chunks of eggplant on top, both delicious pies somewhere between Neapolitan and a NY slice pie. While perusing the menu, we noticed a white cheese filo pastry advertised that sounded suspiciously like sigara böreği. After some inquiring, we found out that the owner is in fact Turkish! We tried an order and enjoyed the unique baked variety paired with marinara sauce. read more

So overall a very easy and quick order experience. Also very much enjoyed the pizza. The crust and pizza itself was crispy, but not hard enough where you keep chewing. The sauce was a good tomato sauce, but feel like they could add more garlic here or something. I enjoyed the ingredients overall, but wish they had toppings with more of a zing like pickled jalapeños or giardiniera. Didn't get a feel for the ambiance, but saw they had outdoor patio tables for the summer. They have good takeout specials online as well, so would recommend looking into that if you're picking up! read more

What a great place to get a pizza on a Thursday Night, or any night. We ordered here about an hour and a half before they closed, and picked our order up. They do deliver from Slice and Grub Hub apps. We ordered 1 large pepperoni, 1 large Randolph Place, 1 order of wings plain with Buffalo sauce on side, and we got there and saw the desserts so we grabbed a red velvet cake individual serving too! The staff is very customer service oriented and they are all about their business. I love that they have a cute outdoor area with very nice lights that add a tuscan effect for outdoor dining. We also got a recommendation for breakfast, which we thought was a great touch. They gave a recommendation that supported a fellow business in the area, very very cool. I have been coming to Baccio for years as it's in my neighborhood; however, after a very troubling incident tonight I will not be returning. I was harassed and had photos of my car taken by a "regular" sitting on the patio who did not like where I left my car for the one minute it took me to pick up my to go order. I was told by a waiter that this particular individual does this frequently to customers picking up their orders. Management at Baccio should not tolerate repeated harassment of customers. I'll be switching to Menomale instead. read more

I love coming here. It's one of my haunts whenever I come into the city. Last night, I had friends visiting from out of town for a show and, when they suggested pizza, I made a reservation for us here. We originally chose to say outside, but there were mosquitoes, so the staff was more than accommodating and allowed us to move inside (indoor seating is located in a loft like area up some stairs). We ordered two pies, some mozzarella sticks, and the brussels sprouts. The first pizza was their take on a margherita. Simple, but really well done here with great crust, a light marinara, and fresh cherry tomatoes. The other pie we got, the Randolph Place, is my personal favorite. It's got layers of sweet caramelized onions, crispy pepperoni, and spinach making for a complex yet balanced bite. Pair that with some of the house ranch and you're in for a good time. The mozzarella sticks here are basic, but they do the job. Similarly, the brussels sprouts were a nice intro to our dinner: crispy, well seasoned, and topped with a layer of freshly grated parmesan, this was a nice earthy, salty way to start the night. The upstairs dining area has a classic feel to it; the vibe is definitely casual, but I could see this being a nice place for a date or to celebrate something. I definitely prefer the outside patio area, though, as it's got twinkling lights overhead and a terrace look that's romantic. read more

Oh how I want to give this place more stars! But, let me share my experience. I was introduced to this place over the weekend and thought I'd give them a personal try. I walk up and there it is a quaint little restaurant. Who would have known! We decide to eat in since they have their patio. The Flies were like vultures and it was hard to eat in peace. I strongly recommend taking out. As we are enjoying the meal, I hear a man start mumbling to himself. He goes in the establishment and comes out with all the employees. He is now scolding all of them, for what I could gather he was upset about trash and dirt on the sidewalk. Personally I didn't notice any of that, the big concern for me were the DC flies that were flying around the pizza. The issue for me was having to watch the employees get in trouble for something so meaningless. It was unprofessional and arrogant. I really love this place but I also love kind people and the owner was a tyrant. I hope he sees this and realizes how his actions made a repeat customer not ever want to come back. Did we receive a hello? Nope! Did he say thanks to us? Nope! Did he ask how are meal was? Nope! Yeah, How logical is that? read more

Bacio is a solid pizzeria in the DC area! It is a very small establishment with very limited seating. They made room for us while we waited for a table to open up. Their drinks are very good! I got the red sangria it was delicious and very strong. Then for dinner we got an order of garlic bread, spinach and mozzarella salad, and the Eckington pizza. The Eckington is their version of the meat lovers. Everything we had was super delicious. They have several specialty pizzas and you can choose to get gluten free as well. The ingredients were top notch and the service we got was amazing. They also have calzones and a happy hour menu. I will definitely be going back to try another pizza! read more

After seeing photos of the Eckington's Pizza from Bacio Pizzeria on IG, I decided to take a drive all the way from Alexandria, VA, across the bridge, to try it for myself. Big mistake. I arrived and was seated in the upstairs portion of the pizzeria. I wasn't asked or given much choice on where I'd prefer to sit. To me, upstairs was very cramped and small with not a lot of space for people to move around. But, I figured it was better than sitting outside. Also, the restroom was literally right behind my chair. So, people kept scooting directly in back of me to go into the restroom. All that restroom air being pushed out everytime the door opened and closed. But I didn't complain. My server was busy. At first, I gave him the benefit of the doubt because I know how it is me being a former server and all. He took my order within about 10 minutes or so, which wasn't too bad. My food came out in a fairly decent amount of time. The pizza was good but it wasn't great. I've made better pizzas at home in my own kitchen. It was lacking flavor and the toppings were sparse. It didn't really look like the pizza I saw on IG, and that photo I saw wasn't from a food blogger or critic either. I just figured maybe it didn't look as good because I got the Small 10" and maybe the one in the photo was the 14" Large. I thought maybe the size had something to do with it. So, I sucked it up and I was going to pay my check and leave with no complaints and leave in peace. Until...it took over 20 minutes to receive my check. So, I initially sat for about 15 minutes quietly while my server zipped right past my table. Finally, he stopped and asked me "Would you like anything else?" and I told him "No thank you, you can bring the check, please". He left like he was going to get my check but instead when he came back he just went to the other table to take their order. So, I waited for another 5 minutes before another staff member saw me waiting patiently and asked "Is everything okay?" and I told him that I was just waiting for my check. He said he would bring me my check. Another person (not my server) ended up bringing me my check. I open the check and they already added on 18% gratuity to the bill. I usually wouldn't have a problem with that, if I wasn't a party of one and if it was on the menu. It wasn't listed anywhere and it was unusual that they would add gratuity for a party of one. This made me wonder if everyone was charged this automatic gratuity or just me. Before it took over 20 minutes to get my check, I was actually going to tip the server more than 18% because I was giving him the benefit of the doubt. So, to add it on the bill was offensive, in my opinion. Especially because my server was not the one to bring the food to my table or give me my check. So, I basically was tipping him for taking my order and that's all. The manager did stop by to ask if everything was okay. Not sure how he could tell because I don't usually wear my emotions on my face. I told him about the situation and he did offer me dessert or a drink. He at least seemed to try to make it right. At the end of the day, there were way too many things that went wrong to give them anything higher than one star. From the poor seating location, to the unattentive server, to the mediocre pizza that I thought was going to be great, to waiting over 20 minutes for my check, and then being charged 18% gratuity for it all. read more

This place is a hidden gem. We walked up to this cute little restaurant with outdoor seating. Unaware that it was happy hour and had a great time. They had $8 cocktails that were amazing. You can truly taste the fresh ingredients in each one. I had the mojito and it was so refreshing. It was sweet but not artificially sweet. It felt all natural like sugar cane and the fresh mint was so vibrant. Normally I don't like Aperol spritz but this one was quite enjoyable. one of my favorite pizza places in dc!! to start, it's adorable. the perfect city pizza vibe; it's a great date night spot. they have this very cute window seating for two but also a large family style table and booth so great place for two or with more friends! they also have a really cute and large patio. the food is also all great! they have amazing pizza combinations (the Bloomingdale, Eckington, and Shaw are some of my favorites) but you can also build your own! the pizzas are around $16+ and the build your own starts at $11, all well worth it! the garlic shrimp appetizer is also something i'd recommend. our server was also so wonderful! he was really nice and our pizza came out pretty fast! overall really cool spot with awesome food. read more

Bacio is small, with a few tables upstairs and outside in a covered tent. It wasn't crowded on Sunday, so my family was seated immediately upstairs. I love the homey vibe this restaurant gives. Service for dining in, was excellent and quick. Pizzas came out in about 15/20 minutes. When I ordered for pick up, pizza was ready in 15. Parking is limited, but you might be able to find parking on the side streets. Margherita: An excellent classic! Mozzarella was thick and creamy. Tomato and basil were very refreshing. Eckington: Caramelized onions on pizza changes the game! If you're in the mood for a hearty pizza, Eckington is for you. Crispus Attucks: This is my favorite pizza! I love the artichokes and mushrooms. They also put just enough pesto to make you want more. Overall, I love the crust to pizza ratio and the fresh flavors. A large is good to share with 2-3 people.
