I ordered a "little" burger (one patty) loaded with tomatoes, pickles, grilled onions, mayo, and ketchup. It definitely hit the spot. We split a small fry, which was more than enough. I'm a fan of the Cajun seasoning, but my friend was watching her salt, and even without it, the fries were still really good. Service was a bit of a downside. The woman at the counter didn't seem very friendly and came off like we were inconveniencing her. It was also a little hard to understand her, which made ordering less smooth than it should've been. I brought my own water, so I didn't order a drink, but I do like that they have complimentary peanuts while you dine in. There's plenty of seating, both low tables and high tops, so we were able to sit and catch up for a while comfortably. One thing to note: there's only one restroom per gender, which could be an issue if it gets busy.

I was with friends and one never had steak'n shake and the other one was like me...it had been a while. I didn't realize that you have to order on a kiosk, no one said anything. I decided to sign up for rewards (something I always check for before ordering) so I downloaded the app and ordered from there. My friends used the kiosk, it seemed user friendly, but it would have been nice for anyone to speak to us. Ordering on the app wasn't bad, it said my food would be ready in 4-9 minutes. My friends got their food very quickly. Their food was nice and hot. We didn't realize that getting your drink after ordering from the kiosk, you have to get your receipt and use the QR code to scan at the machine to receive your cup, some direction on that would have been nice. As for my food, about 20 minutes passed and I still didn't hear anything. The app doesn't have a tracker, but I made sure I ordered it at the right location and for pick up which it was all correct. I had to go to the counter, got a man's attention that was working, and he asked for my name. He then went to the back and I heard them talking. Several minutes later, a lady came out with my food and drink. I asked if it had been ready and she said yes, so I asked how was I supposed to know and she just shrugged her shoulders not saying anything. I was very upset, but so hungry. I told her how my food would now be cold and she just walked away. I went to the counter to get ketchup and she appeared behind that counter saying I'm sorry. As for customer service I would give 0 stars if I could. Of course my food was cold. I ordered the garlic single steak burger combo, it tasted ok, but I was starving. My fries tasted old and were not fresh. I wasn't satisfied. I noticed after signing up for rewards I received a free milkshake offer. They also sent a survey to my email (of course I filled it out) and for completing it, you get free fries. These will come in handy, probably for my kids. The ambiance remains the same as I remember from a long time ago, classic dinner vibes with black/white tiles, and retro themed red/black booths and tables.

She ordered the Pecan Berry Salad with half a French Dip sandwich. I ordered the Classic Grilled Chicken on a Croissant with a cup of Broccoli Cheddar soup. I also got a Mardi Gras cookie which is basically a snickerdoodle with a cream cheese filling. That cookie was just okay. She loved her salad. I didn't know they had a French Dip sandwich and she didn't know their grilled chicken had no herb flavoring/seasoning, so we traded sandwiches. I really loved the French Dip sandwich and now have a new favorite. She says most grilled chicken has too much of a herb flavor but not so with McAlister's. So now she has a new favorite too. The restrooms were clean and stocked. Parking spaces were plentiful.
