I've been to this location probably a dozen times, and I've always had a great experience. Today blew every single time before it out of the water, though, and I had an even more wonderful experience. I went in for lunch to meet a friend with my 10-month old baby. Immediately, our server, Kyle B, was so friendly to my child, procuring a high chair and making sure my son had something to snack on before the meal arrived. He was so attentive to my child, who was animated, waving, and threw some noodles. Kyle didn't bat an eye, and told me to please not worry, and he would clean up everything. He even brought him a cookie for after our meal. The food was hot and delicious, and I will always go to this location as long as Kyle is there. Great, friendly service! read more

(4th Thursday of February) Maryn was swamped but took good care of me at the counter . This week they're piling the cheese on regular or large ways, 50% more making it a Skyway. Surprisingly good! Last week on a cold winter night we popped into Skyline Chili to see what it was all about. We ate inside to get the full experience. We were shocked to actually be waited on here, we thought because they had a drive thru for to go orders that it would more like a fast food dining experience but we were wrong! Our waitress Maddie was super sweet and provided us a phenomenal experience! The chili was delicious and different. Skyline chili is sweeter than others, they put cinnamon in the chili. We did not have to wait but a fee minutes to receive our food after placing our order. And right now they have cheesecake factory red velvet cheesecake. Cara was our server and she was outstanding! We used to visit the location on 86th st until it closed and not used to those that bring out the food and have a waitress. The food came out hot and stacked full of cheese, and more cheese!!! Two coneys, that come with sauce, mustard and onion and cheese. They are The Bomb! The three ways are also great too. The Fart My friends and I ate here, great food, timely service and a generally clean environment. However. About halfway into our time there was a smell. We thought it was the gentleman behind us and started to laugh, later the manager came up to us and told us the same gentleman had complained about an odor. We told him that we thought it was the man and that we had not farted and that we would admit to it. We realized our waiter must have farted near and or on our table and that he must have blamed us when asked about it. This was a rough one. I didn't particularly care for the chili. I didn't like the spices very much but that's just me. The other was the hotdog and the chili were lukewarm. In my eyes that's hard to do. All you do is serve chili all day and you can't keep it at the right temperature that's alarming. You just have to get that one right. That's like serving a rare hamburger to somebody who orders a burger. There's no excuse for that. The service however, was just off. Poor server was just buried overloaded and the manager was more worried about portioning cheese into baggies than helping the servers out. Every once in a while, he would come out and clean a table off, but not much support but other things were more important than the guests in the dining room paying the bills. I was in the restaurant business for almost 40 years and I know what I saw. It was not right. I don't care what anybody says. Whoever the guy was portioning cheese, needs to get his priorities straight and get out in the dining room and start touching tables and get involved. Putting cheese in bags when it's busy is disfunctional. You need to go out and capture the dollars in the dining room and ensure great service. They also have a counter area there that you can't sit at because that's their prep area and that makes no sense. You could actually use those chairs to seat more people and make money. Just a crazy eye popping experience from a guy on vacation to see the race. The other place I tried yesterday for chili was Nicks . That was some great chili. read more

I happen to be doing phone business right next door and saw this Skyline out the window at lunchtime. So I decided to eat lunch here and check them out. I found the usual clean establishment I'm used to with every table clean and ready for occupancy. However they were really struggling today. The CO2 was out on the soda machine and they were waiting on the repair guy. So all they had to offer for drinks were water and the two iced teas. And the bread delivery guy had failed to show up so they had no bread to offer for the day. It didn't matter to me though since I have swore off bread during my diet. Hint: oyster crackers are better than bread anyways ;-) I ordered my usual 4-Way with Onions and was not disappointed. I scooped the massive amount of cheese off to a napkin so I could eat a smaller amount of it and everything tasted delicious just to my liking. I watched their one large flat screen TV tuned to ESPN and watched Tiger Woods struggling to practice his golf for the British Open at St. Andrews in Scotland with his bad leg while I ate. I was having my car serviced next door and stopped in to grab something quick. I was pleasantly surprised that they had wraps. The lettuce was nice and crunchy with a good ratio of chicken, cheese, dressing, wrap.. it was filling. Staff was friendly and greeted me promptly when I came in. Having lived in the Cincinnati area for a number of years, Skyline is one of my guilty pleasures that I make the effort to go to. This one is in the Greenwood Area and has a drive thru which is nice as that's not true at all of them. We swung by and grabbed it in the drive thru since we were on the way home. The person greeted us and was very friendly and welcoming. Pretty usual at this place. Even though it's on 31, its location is pretty good and in and out isn't too bad as long as you head north when you leave. We have eaten inside many times and it's always clean, a few tvs showing sports and lots of windows to bring in the light. Always Cincinnati Reds stuff around. The food is great! We got cheese coneys (hot dog with coney sauce, mustard, onions and tons of cheese), a three way chili (chili, spaghetti, and cheese ), a four-way (chili, spaghetti cheese and either beans or onions) and a side of chili. The chili has meat in it and a hint of cinnamon. Everything is always covered in a mound of cheddar cheese. And add their oyster crackers to it, and it makes for a great meal. it's very filling, and the price is very good compared to other restaurants in the area. My youngest son always gets cheese fries or chili cheese fries and occasionally my wife gets the Greek salad and everything is always really good. The restaurant is nice and the staff is friendly. The place is pretty clean and you have a birds eye view straight into the kitchen. The food is Mehhh!! I got two chili cheese dogs and fries. They were OK. The dogs are smothered in shredded cheese, if that is your thing. They are pretty small too. The service was friendly but it was kind of slow. They have a TV in the dining area and ample parking. This is more like a drunk meal (most of you know what I am talking about). Kind of like the hot dog equivalent of White Castle. read more

We were in the Greenwood Skyline on Monday, April 7th, a little after 4 p.m. The building had been remolded and comfortable but did not particularly enjoy the music. We are from Cincinnati and love Skyline. We have been customers of this location for as long as it has been open. I ordered a regular 4-way with onions and my wife ordered a small 3-way, both juicy "meaning extra chili" as we have ordered most times. In both orders the chili was watery with greasy water in the bottom plate. We sent them back. Our friend ordered a "new item", taco chili and it came without any chili at all. We pointed this out to the server who had them add chili. The waitress apologized and said they had "new staff". My wife asked for extra lemons for her water. A bowl of sliced lemons came but there was a hair in the bowl. As long time customers we did not recognize any of the staff except for the one waitress who was cleaning before her shift ended. The staff mostly sat or just stood around as there were but one or two customers in the restaurant. One male cook was sitting at the serving counter and the female cook was standing behind him braiding his long hair (at the food serving counter!). We asked the waitress if Skyline was now a beauty parlor as well. Both returned to the prep area after our waitress brought this to their attention. The female cook appeared to wash her hands at the sink in the food prep area. As far as we could see, the male cook did not wash his hands. Though the restaurant was empty there were drive thru customers. We will not return to this location. The 2 female servers were helpful. The new cook staff was young and apparently had little or no training, or even interest, about the Skyline way of doing business. We apologized to our friend who had never been to a Skyline nor will return. read more

We did the option to order again on DoorDash from this store, last time it was correct this time not so much. My husband contacted DoorDash and also reached out to this Skyline at 7:41 pm on 10/31/2024 and the manager or whoever answered called my husband a liar and was very unprofessional. They simply got the order wrong and this lovely employee hung up on my husband in the middle of him talking calmly about the order. If you're wrong, you're wrong. I know one doesn't usually go to Skyline Chili for salad but it was what I wanted. I used to frequent Skyline when I lived in Cincinnati, so upon a return visit it was a must. We stopped at one just south of Indianapolis, IN to have our fix. Well, my salad looked fine until I began to put some onto my fork. That is when I saw all the ugly, old lettuce amidst the greens. I showed the server and her reply: "Yes, I noticed the lettuce when I had lunch earlier." I didn't yell, I just shook my head. She must be clueless or didn't care. Skyline is one of the places we miss. We moved to Cincinnati Ohio many years ago, where Skyline is from. Interesting fact, Skyline Chili was actually founded by a Greek Immigrant. I like the five-way. My wife likes the four-way. Our daughter used to get the cheese covered hotdogs. One twin loves the five-way. The other likes the four-way. It is chili, noodles, onions beans and cheese. Any combination of those results in 3 way, 4 way or 5 way Chili. The hot dogs are either cheese covered, or chili cheese covered! I feel like it needs to be said but this is first and foremost a fast food. Hot dog and chili place if you're expecting gourmet for this piece. Then I invite you to lower yourself back down to reality. Also I know someone who works in fast food. Don't be a jerk if they open late they open late. It's not going to kill you to wait and be patient. It's not that hard to not be a wretched human being. Back to the meal it's again what you would expect from fast food. I love this Skyline location. I stop here almost every time I'm back in Indiana visiting from North Carolina (where I live.) This is a stand alone location and the building is really well taken care of and there are plenty of seats...which is excellent because then you get that chili goodness as soon as possible. Every server I've ever had there has been both super speedy and super friendly! I'm coming out of my first Skyline experience. It went like this. 1. Wanting to try a new place on my lunch break on this, the desolate south side. 2. Think "what would bestie from Cincy do?" 3. Go to Skyline. 4. Receive text from Cincy friend that he was too busy eating Skyline to answer my text, thus creating a CHILICEPTION. The amount of food I bought was so large that I would have been embarrassed if I had any shame. I sampled a Coney dog, the Greek Salad, and a 4 way with onions. The Coney was magnificent. Small, but tasty, and in hindsight, I should have just purchased like 7 Coneys. The 4 way was super as well! I soaked it in hot sauce and got it extreme style with the habanero cheese. The Greek salad? Well, there wasn't much salad in it. Mostly woody veins of lettuce. Do not put the whole dressing packet in the salad...that is a rookie mistake that I made. I chose all of these items because they were Skyline "signature" items according to the menu. The staff was very friendly and the food was out quickly. This was my first time trying skyline chili. I ended up getting the spaghetti 3-way and enjoyed it. The menu is small and to the point which I like. If you don't like chili you can still find something on the menu. This establishment was clean and the staff was very friendly. They also had a drive through, which I thought was a perk! This particular one was a sit-down type with a waiter, honestly, not what I was expecting when I walked in, but I was pleasantly surprised as to how well everything went. The service was quick to assist us with seating and they were pleasant and friendly throughout the duration of our meal. The manager even walked around to each table while we were there, asking if everyone's service was up to par. They also have a drive-thru if you don't have the time to come in for sit-down service. The menu includes their signature dishes: cheese coneys (a hot dog topped with Skyline Chili, mustard, onions, and cheese), 3-ways (spaghetti topped with Skyline Chili and cheese), 4-ways (choice of beans or onions added), and 5-ways (beans and onions both added). In recent years, they have started to offer burritos made with Skyline Chili, classic and Greek-style salads, french fries, cheese fries, garlic bread, cheese bread, and baked potatoes topped with Skyline Chili. They also have vegetarian selections featured in their menu as well. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at the service and staff here. If you have never tasted Skyline Chili, you are missing out on life. Straight from our southeast neighbors,Cincinnati style chili is in a class of its own. Skyline has the perfect blend of spices... a recipe debunking its secrecy lists cinnamon, unsweetened cocoa, Worcestershire, garlic, chili powder, cayenne pepper, bay leaf, cloves, salt and vinegar. And damn, what a delicious combination those spices are! It's probably an acquired taste though... when I was younger I thought the stuff was gross but I've since learned the errors of my previous ways. There are a few locations scattered about Indianapolis. I like the Greenwood one because it is closest to my home, but the others aren't bad either. And, if you don't feel like leaving home to go out and get it, you can buy it at the grocery store in a can or frozen... it tastes pretty durn good that way too! My favorite in the restaurant is the 5-way or chili dogs, but they also make a mean burrito, drenched in chili. Delicious, but don't go here expecting to eat light! read more
