I found my beloved Two Boots... by accident! My jaw dropped when we were wandering Park Slope for the first time and we saw it. We were able to enjoy Two Boots in Los Angeles back when we lived there and I never got over the devastation of it closing during the pandemic. Probably half the reason I moved out of LA, lol. I always add the red pepper pesto to my slice of pepperoni. This is probably the most chill vibed Two Boots I've ever been to in my life. Most are super wild where you don't know where to look. Growing up in the East Village, I have a lot of nostalgia for Two Boots. The original one there was burned into my memory for all the right reasons: the attached video rental shop, the quirky design, the offbeat pizza options that felt like their own unique homage. Now as an adult living in Park Slope coming to this location takes me right back to sitting there with my mom as a kid, soaking in those youthful days without even realizing how much they'd stick with me. So yeah, this place is near and dear to my heart in a very real way. And while I can self-awarely admit that Two Boots may not be the de facto, pinnacle slice of pizza in NYC, that is also not really the point. It is a damn good option, especially when you are tired of the same old song and dance you get from a million other pizza spots. The Italy-meets-Louisiana-Creole influence gives the menu real personality, and there are so many choices that you are basically guaranteed to find something that hits for you. For me and my girlfriend, it is the Night Tripper every single time: sun-dried tomatoes, roasted garlic, and jalapeno pesto on a white pie. We love this pie so much that it becomes genuinely difficult to order anything else. I dream of this pizza. Truly. I don't understand the hype behind this place. It's clearly marketed towards kids and their parents, and truly the most annoying kids in the world come here. I've been here more than once to give these people a fair chance and I've never had a good experience. First time I went it was packed with awful children screaming and making a mess. And it smelled disgusting. I went on another occasion with some friends and we suffered through the worst standup comedy show I have ever seen in my entire life. Not really the restaurant's fault but they keep bringing them back. The beer on tap tasted soapy. The selection wasn't my favorite but I've never had it taste like that before. I also saw the workers prepping sandwiches with their bare hands without having recently washed them. When it gets busy the workers also act stressed out and have a rude attitude. I can understand that feeling, but when you're in a professional environment you should check your emotions at the door. By that I don't mean just smiling either like that weird owner or manager guy who kept up a really fake smile that creeped me out. I'm also not a huge fan of the pretentious pop culture references everywhere but that's really just a personal thing so I can't hold it against them. My boyfriend ordered online once and it arrived cold looking like the box had been dropped on the street. When he called the guy answering the phone refused to refund me and was like "oh well I'm sorry to hear that but pizza is pizza and we don't guarantee it to look perfect on arrival." Well maybe if that's your policy you should include a warning before people buy it instead of surprising them later. With these prices I expect more. So now for the most important part, the food. It just doesn't taste good. I should know better than to trust the general public when it comes to food selection but the food was truly disappointing. I believe I tried most things on the menu in the few times that I went. Regardless of how well it's prepared, the food tastes bad because the ingredient quality is bad. I can taste that they use frozen meat. I mean the crawfish they used tasted like cardboard as if it had been sitting in a freezer for over a year. The dough is also very unsatisfying with the texture which is either too doughy, too hard, or too soggy depending on who is in the kitchen. My local friends highly recommended Two Boots for their vegan pizzas - citing the stretchy cheese that didn't taste as artificial (even though it's still Daiya cheese), but I knew I had to try for myself. We placed an online order which was easy-peasy. We went with a large Vegan Night Tripper ($31), which was a pesto based pizza with onions and sun-dried tomatoes. We also ordered a small House Salad ($7) with balsamic being the only vegan friendly dressing. Pizza was fantastic! Loved the crust (even though it wasn't the classic thin New York crust) and the combination of vegan cheese and pesto was junky perfection. Note: the large here is seriously a large. My partner and I wish we had just gotten a Medium but we ended up having half the pizza the next day on our way to JFK. We also ordered Garlic Knots (3 for $3) but sadly these weren't vegan. I'll forever love two boots as I've been coming for years, getting the bayou beast every time. The combination of flavors is great and it's not often you find a shrimp and/or Cajun pizza. This is both and it's great. However, over the years they've started skimping on the toppings. They are also heavier on the sauce leading to most slices having their toppings slide off if you're not careful. Flavor hasn't changed though so I still come back. All locations are really well decorated and the theming is great. Employees are normally helpful and the park slope location is really family friendly. Quality: I walk past Two Boots frequently, and I have been intrigued yet skeptical of their pizza. I finally tried it and I was impressed. Before heading to NY this past weekend, my sister was raving about this new pizza place she had discovered. She insisted we go when I arrived, and so we did! Two Boots is a funny name for a pizza place. As I read the menu, I couldn't help but notice how "New Orleans" some of the pizzas were. Then I realized this was a Cajun style pizza place in Brooklyn. Whaaaaaaat?? What an interesting combination! The Bayou Beast (Crawfish, shrimp, andouille, jalapeno and mozzarella) pizza was very tempting, but I felt I should pick something more tame for my first visit. I decided to go with a small Mr. Pink (Creole chicken, plum tomatoes, garlic and mozzarella) pizza. My sis got four slices of cheese for my nieces, and she got a small vegan pizza. Meanwhile, we claimed a table, and I got to look around the place. They had several pizzas (if they didn't run out) on display, and there were several sheets of paper with crayons so kids could color. There was some art on the walls, and a creepy Donnie Darko poster near the back... very creepy. The individual slices came out first, as expected... but only three were brought out. When asked about it, they asked as if the order had never been placed. But I watched the cashier put the entire order in on the screen, so it was definitely there. Not a deal breaker, but hopefully that is not a regular thing. On top of that messing slice, the other pizzas took quite a while... but it was a Friday night, so I am not all that surprised. When they came out, they were PIPING HOT!!! And the taste?... BRUH! That is some bomb pizza! I absolutely loved the crust and the flavors. I couldn't even finish the small pizza in one sitting, so that was perfect. It doesn't beat the $1 slices at corner shops, but it has made its mark on the streets of New York. Was it late? Yes. Was I drunk? Possibly. Was this one of the best vegan pies I've ever had? Abso-freakin-lutely. We decided we should order pizza after a moderate night out on the town and realizing we needed some food if we wanted to avoid a rough morning. This location was walking distance from our last stop so we ordered for pick up halfway through our last drink. Can you say "ideal situation"? We ended up with a V for Vegan pizza featuring artichokes, shiitake mushrooms, red onions, Daiya cheese and a criss-cross of their homemade pestos (sweet red pepper and basil). After the first bite, I was in pizza heaven, you guys. All of the flavors melded together beautifully, combining fresh vegetables, tangy sauce, crisp crust and just a hint of that creamy cheesiness you need to complete a classic pizza bite. I am seriously impressed by Two Boots' ability and willingness to go above and beyond for their vegan customers, as most pizza shops either offer a cheese substitute or no cheese at all to make their 'zas vegan. The V for Vegan clearly had plenty of thought and work put into making a delicious and complex pie for herbivores that can stand up to the crazy combinations and innovations you see for meat and dairy lovers today. Was really trying to get delivery but it seems like ubereats didnt have any available carrier near me. So i opted for yelp order and went to pick up. Pizza is alittle bit on the more expensive side but its good! They have vegan cheese (daiya) available which is nice. My bro is a vegan so this worked out great. I ordered the vegan night tripper, vegan larry tate and regular buckminster (came w regular cheese but can add vegan cheese for additional price, but it is vegetarian). My son and i really liked the buckminster, we thought it was super tasty. I thought the vegan pies were good, but maybe cos i love cheese so daiya cheese just isnt my thing. But definitely a great option for vegans who dont eat dairy also. Pick up was okay.
