Finally called the store 8 times and every time they picked up and put the phone down. I was pleasantly surprised by the large margarita pie I ordered from Prospect Pizza last week. They aren't a household name or a buzzy restaurant written up by all the food blogs. They're just your local pizzeria operating mostly on delivery orders and single slice takeaways. My pie was made fresh from the time I ordered it for pickup and was ready about 30-40 minutes later. It carried well through some distance and tasted absolutely phenomenal when I got home. The sauce was tart and tomatoey, there was plenty of fresh garlic and basil in the sauce, and the cheese to sauce to bread ratio was perfect. Even more telling is that I finished every last bite of the crust-- the crispy and fresh edges of each slice were irresistible. I was tempted to chalk up the tastiness of their margarita pie to me being hungry, but eating it heated up the next day I found myself planning my next Prospect Pizza pie order, stat. I went in 5min before closing to get what I knew would be the last old slices of pizza. Fine. I asked if he could put pepperoni on a slice and I would warm it up at home. After using a spatula to take the slice i requested from the tray, he proceeds to use his BARE HANDS TO GRAB PEPPERONI FROM THE FRIDGE AND PLACE ON THE PIZZA. I immediately call him on it - flag that it is so unfair that he is doing this, he is aware it's unsafe and illegal and that i just came from the train and I would never put my bare hands on something now without gloves and that he is well aware he needs to use them. I come in and order a ham-and-cheese sub sandwich which is supposed to come with lettuce, tomato, onion, salt, pepper, olive oil and vinegar - standard. Or at the very least, a customary query - which didn't happen. Not only is the sandwich literally just ham and what appears to be Kraft slices, but when calling back and asking them how they could forget so many key ingredients, they ask "how to make it right" - by trying to charge me for another sub sandwich, assuming I'd already consumed their failure. When asserting that I had not eaten said failure, they actually asked for the sandwich back - likely to be resold. Not only is this atrocious customer service, but just plain gross. read more

I was very surprised tonight though to find that the sausage onions and peppers pizza has NO tomato sauce! Prospect Pizza definitely is hitting a sweet spot for the area. This part of Brooklyn doesn't have dollar slices, and it does have some fantastic sit-down places popping up (looking at you Zurilee, Parkside, etc.), but it most certainly lacks something in the middle (and no, don't even get me started on Gino's). Prospect Pizza is the place you want to order from, or walk over to, to grab a pie last minute just because you feel like it. The prices seem pretty even keel for the most part, and the grandma pie I ordered was pretty good. It was pretty thin for a slice of that style, which wasn't bad, but definitely thinner than most of the usual ones I've had. Seasoning was good, cheese and sauce were solid A-. Good enough that I'll definitely be coming back to try some more options. Their daily specials are a nice way to mix things up, and while I haven't tried their other Italian dishes yet, I'm willing to take a chance. They had our pizza ready in about 30 minutes for a take-out order, as promised. Nice to see a new place that isn't trying too hard, but is just doing their own thing. read more

Crispy crust gooey cheese, slightly sweet tomato sauce it was really good. I usually opt for a grandma slice but this was as close as I could get on this particular day. The slice was $3 so about par for the course. They have a pretty extensive menu and since they are new they have frequent specials. Pizza has always been trash but when it's the last resort (I'll review the other two) you do what you gotta do. BUT 3 WHOLE DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS FOR A PLAIN SLICE IS ABSURD. The dough is hard. Since my last review we have been ordering from prospect pizza at least every other week. Sometimes it's hard to understand the guy on the phone and he seems to have trouble understanding us at times, but just be patient! The buffalo wings are THE TINEST little chick wings I've ever had. They taste like they're frozen and heated up (which is prob what they are). I tried them more than once hoping it was just a bad day-- nope!
