Table In back room. Nov 2024.

We did a tasting today at 4 pm. We had the lounge area with comfy leather sofas. I liked the Willow White best. It's very smooth and more complex than the rose. I'm not a Red drinker. Great tasting. Great helpful and interesting staff. Highly recommend

Like so many places, we became aware of Turtle Rock from a recommendation. After sharing our love of Saxum, our friend at Bien Nacido recommended Turtle Rock. He literally said, "You need to check out Turtle Rock, they're doing great things and get in on their wine club before its too late!" - and so we did! Nothing about Turtle Rock disappoints. We were able to snag a Fall 2024 allocation and tucked it away to rest for the next several years. Still never trying their wines, we found ourselves driving through Paso and decided to give TR a ring to see if they had any tasting appointments. To our surprise they did! Perfect! And they were pet friendly - yay! Located in Tin City, Turtle Rock has a smaller tasting room footprint, with a sizeable comfy outdoor seating area and a nice private tasting room. The decor is everything I adore: lovely polished gnarled woods, juxtaposed with iron and concrete, but a warmth that emanates from within - which I will fully credit to the staff! Turtle Rock is indeed doing great things! You'll find juice from epic vineyards like G2 and elsewhere. These wines are good now, but will definitely age well with a few years.

The lineup for our tasting.

Turtle Rock Winery in the Tin City complex was excellent. Chris (who was managing the tasting room when we arrived) was delightful. He made us feel comfortable and was extraordinarily knowledgeable. He clearly enjoyed sharing his insights about the Paso Robles wine & vineyards scene. 4-stars for our first-ever Tin City Paso visit.

We stopped by Turtle Rock on a whim . We had a reservation nearby, we were early, and it was raining outside. I am so glad we stopped in. They made time for us between their appointments. Sage was our guide and he did a great job of explaining the wines. We loved our stop, and we bought lots of wines.

Absolutely brilliant wines, and great people. Always have to make a stop when in Paso.

Wines are phenomenal!!! Unique blends and top notch wine portfolio. Had a fantastic experience at Turtle Rock and Chris went way above and beyond. He bent over backwards to accommodate our reservation and was a phenomenal host. One of the most hospitable and genuine guys we met while we visited Paso Robles. Great wine knowledge and fun to chat with. Can't say enough about our visit and the amazing wines. Thank you Chris and Turtle Rock!!!

Quality exceeds expectation. Turtle Rock is producing cult level wines. Our visit was nothing less than spectacular. We have come to appreciate Paso Robles wines and wines tasted at Turtle Rock have fast forwarded to the top of our list. We tasted whites and reds and were impressed with both. Turtle Rock sources only the best fruit for their wines and specializes in blends. We were fortunate enough to spend time with the owners and learn more about the brand. Turtle Rock wines have scored in the high 90's and even 100 the past few years. We were so impressed we joined their wine club. We are currently on a wait list because others have also discovered this outstanding wine. Can't wait for our next visit.

We checked this place out at the recommendation of L'Aventure our favorite Paso winery. We liked the wines and our hostess was personable but could have been a little more friendly. Overall the experience and the wines were good but with the amount of excellent wine in Paso, not sure we would come back here for another visit. The place just didn't "wow" us.

Professional, friendly, and delicious. Couldn't recommend coming here more. We did one glass red tasting. It was delicious and a great experience.

A great atmosphere!

Turtle Rock vineyards was a great place to visit. Their quaint tasting shop in Tin City was beautiful! The wine educator gave us so much information on not only their wines but the area as well.

Once I heard what happened I was more sad but happy to hear the new owner wants to continue Vina Robles. I wish as a member I would have gotten notified. Went to their new location which was really convenient since we were going to other wineries near there. It's still a big location. Plenty of seating and they still offer food which we were happy about. Our server was super sweet and knowledgeable which I always appreciate when it comes to wine. We started a tasting and then just tried whatever she gave us which we weren't complaining. Haha. All the wine she was giving us was really good. I was really impressed by their food. I wanted more of everything. We got their bruschetta al Fresco, hummus, monte Bianca pizza, and one other pizza. I fell in love with their bruschetta. We got there right as there kitchen closed which was a bummer because I wanted more. Overall, I still enjoy their wine. Their location is really nice. Food is delicious. I will conintue being a member and will stop by anytime I am in the area.

Will definitely be back.

We are the type of members who always take great care of the staff and rarely leave without purchasing extra bottles, yet today we were treated like an inconvenience. Despite being told in the past that spontaneous visits were no problem for members, we were turned away on a gloomy Monday with plenty of open tables. The host at the entrance was incredibly dismissive and wouldn't even let us finish our sentence before cutting us off. We were told our only options were to come back in an hour, a "limited" tasting, drive all the way downtown, or just pick up our shipment and leave. We asked for the Wine Club Manager to resolve the situation, but she wasn't on-site. To be offered a "partial" tasting as a favor after nearly ten years of support was the final straw. It feels as though they now prioritize "closing" new members over honoring the people who have supported them for years. They've gone mainstream and lost the personal touch that made them special.

Quality/Quantity - After tasting a few wines, I settled on a glass of Pinot Noir. Atmosphere - Small tasting room, bar, indoor, and outdoor seating. Plus tasting. Got lucky, as today they were bottling so we got to experience that a little. And due to the small size, they bottle via a trailer; see pictures. Plenty of Tin City parking, as we got here late and right before closing. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 5pm. Service - Emma was perfect. As usual, we were the only customers. We got all the attention. It felt like we were all just hanging out. (Or she was just so bored, lol). She shared so much information about the winery and Paso Robles. We compared stories and wineries, etc. Lastly, she gave us a tour of the facility as the production just ended. This was unexpected and really appreciated. Price - $18 + generous tip. I just got a glass of their Pinot Noir. Tastings are $20 a person and waived with two bottle purchases. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this location since 2019. I can see why you are 5 stars; great service culture.

They were happy to accept us as walk-ins, and offered us our choice of seating. They have outdoor seating and indoor standing tastings at the bar, since we didn't have too much time we opted for a bar tasting with Kirsten (the wife of one of the owners). It was great learning about the wines, and the area of France that they are inspired by. The wines here are a little different than most you see in Paso, they have a lot of white wine and do a decent amount of skin contact on some of them. Some of the wines reminded me of natural wine, which I'm not the biggest fan of, but I know a lot of people who love them. I ended up leaving with a bottle of their 100% Pinot Blanc, a little sweeter than something I would usually go for, but I'm excited to drink it on a nice summer day!

The history alone is enough to get you through the door, but the wine is what keeps you there. Pair the tasting with all the stories behind the winery, and it's easily one of the more interesting experiences in Paso. The staff is also incredibly friendly and makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The patio is a beautiful spot to taste, and if you're there later in the day, the sunset views are hard to beat. Definitely do the free cave tour while you're there. It's one of the coolest winery tours I've been on. The caves are a massive labyrinth carved into the hillside and naturally stay around 55 degrees year round, which is where they age a lot of their wine before bottling. Even if you've been to a lot of wineries, this is something a little different. At the time I'm writing this, tastings are still complimentary, which is almost unheard of these days. If you go, do them a favor and leave with a bottle or two. That's how places like this are able to keep offering experiences like this, and honestly, you'll probably want to take some wine home anyway.
