We joined their club in 2024, came back for a tasting in the summer of 2025. They were super accommodating because we were there during the week when they were not hosting regular tastings, but went ahead and made arrangements for us to come in and do our tasting. We received the same up close and personal tasting as we did the first time. They have recently merged with another vineyard as well, the current owners are retiring. We enjoy their wines and highly recommend stopping by. In addition, they have a great view off their back patio!

Écluse is nestled in the Westside area of Paso Robles among gentle rolling hills. We had such a unique wine tasting experience among the barrel room and loved the Improv and Tannat wine the best. The hosts rotate to ensure everyone is having a good time and all were friendly. After your tasting, you can take a glass or bottle to their patio area that overlooks the vineyard that is absolutely beautiful.

We started our Saturday tours at Ecluse Wines and we had a blast. We scheduled our tasting and we were off immediately once we started. The tasting area is casual and comfortable inside one the main buildings. Out back, there's a nice lounge area with views of the vineyards. You definitely get a family owned friend vibe here. We were so fortunate to have the owner Steve as our wine educator! He was so down to earth, friendly of course knowledgeable on his wines. We learned about the whole process from beginning to end. His story telling skills were fantastic as he shared his story of how he started from the beginning. We tasted some of the insider straight from the barrel which prompted an easy purchase decision from me. I'm not a Chardonnay drinker per se, but I always keep a couple bottles around for my friends and during the Spring time. The Ecluse Chardonnay is one of the tastiest I've had which also prompted a purchase. Chardonnay 2021 Insider 2020 I would definitely recommend a visit to Ecluse Wines when in the area. I'm sure this won't be my last visit here. Cheers!

We had a wonderful time and a great tour with Steve. I learned so much and have a better appreciation for all that go's into the process. We also love your wines.

From the Ecluse patio area. Great view.

The staff and especially Mike were fantastic. The Ecluse wines are always a wonderful way to experience the best of the area. After our tasting we sat on the patio and enjoyed the priceless views. Thanks again Ecluse, until next time. Cheers.

Tasting aging wine with Steve Lock straight out of the barrel!

Had a fun time at this boutique winery. I've been visiting over 100 wineries in the past 4 years and this one is a find. Small, quaint, wine tasting room with barrels that the owner let us taste his latest gem (photo below). Nice and cool on a hot summer day in Paso Robles. The Tannat was a unique, great tasting wine. I had to take home my limit of 3 bottles, in addition to others. If you want a less commercial wine tasting experience, with plenty of variety of delicious wines, this is a place you want to seek out. Reasonable prices as well. A special treat was a conversation with the owner Steve Lock who I've been told stops by on occasion.

This family run Vineyard is tucked away on Kiler Canyon Road at the end. Once you reach safe passage through the canyon (seems like killer canyon) , you end up at a beautiful Vineyard that has varietals for merlot, Cabernet, and Syrah with a Chardonnay from Edna Valley. Pretty simple set up in the barrel room with barrels for your tables to wine taste on. Love that they had breadsticks for us and we even bought some of the local peanut brittle. Phenomenal view from the back on their terrace and we were lucky enough to have the wine maker, Steve host us with Sandy for a lovely sampling (Malbec tasting from the barrel ) and a library wine of their 2009 Zinfandel.. A must visit while on this side of the tracks! Check out our pics!

The wine tasting was great, Eric was our server and he was wonderful, with personality and talkative conversation also explaining the wines that we were tasting, even though he was busy! We wanted to have lunch but wanted to split things, so we didn't overeat! We opted for a salad which was called the winter salad and I'm not much of a salad person, but the salad was terrific, it had seasonal winter fruits with arugula, a light vinaigrette, and a few pomegranate seeds really light and just perfect. We had the burger, which... Was divine. Brioche bun, caramelized, onions, red wine bacon jam and an aïoli. That burger came with fries, which we also split, but both agreed they were the best french fries we've ever had. I do not know how they got them so crisp they were delicious. The views are great. Rolling Hills of Paso Robles demand your attention. They have an immense outdoor area, although we sat inside because it was a little chilly. We booked the "wine tasting and lunch", which was a 90 minute experience on their patio ($40). When we arrived, we were greeted with the first wine on the tasting list, which was the Grenache (pretty good, different than what I normally go for). The patio had a nice view of the rolling hills and we could see goats running across them in the distance. The tasting consisted of 4 wines, and we also got a bonus pour. Our host was friendly and knowledgeable, and I really enjoyed the wine selection, especially the "Messer" red. We also ordered lunch, and both my Harvest Salad and Parmesan Fries were very tasty. The grounds were nice, but not quite as breathtaking as some of the other vineyards I've seen in the area. Overall though, a good experience!

Being able to enjoy some of their older vintages this way makes the experience even more special for wine enthusiasts. What I appreciate most about DAOU is how they've managed to maintain a small, family-style atmosphere despite being acquired by a larger company a few years ago. The hospitality still feels personal and genuine. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, not only about the wines themselves but also about the history of the vineyard and the vision behind it. I'm a big fan of this winery and how it has evolved over the years. Between the stunning views, exceptional wines, and welcoming staff, DAOU is always a must-stop whenever visiting Paso Robles.

The host at the entrance was incredibly dismissive and wouldn't even let us finish our sentence before cutting us off. We were told our only options were to come back in an hour, a "limited" tasting, drive all the way downtown, or just pick up our shipment and leave. We asked for the Wine Club Manager to resolve the situation, but she wasn't on-site. To be offered a "partial" tasting as a favor after nearly ten years of support was the final straw. It feels as though they now prioritize "closing" new members over honoring the people who have supported them for years. They've gone mainstream and lost the personal touch that made them special.

Each wine delicately chosen to match the meal, details on details. Afterwards, the last two paring were brought out.
