Great wine with a nice ambiance! We visited Calcareous Vineyard on a Sunday, having made a reservation in advance. We booked the "wine tasting and lunch", which was a 90 minute experience on their patio ($40). When we arrived, we were greeted with the first wine on the tasting list, which was the Grenache (pretty good, different than what I normally go for). The patio had a nice view of the rolling hills and we could see goats running across them in the distance. The tasting consisted of 4 wines, and we also got a bonus pour. Our host was friendly and knowledgeable, and I really enjoyed the wine selection, especially the "Messer" red. We also ordered lunch, and both my Harvest Salad and Parmesan Fries were very tasty. The grounds were nice, but not quite as breathtaking as some of the other vineyards I've seen in the area. Overall though, a good experience!
Calcareous Vineyard is an absolute must in Paso Robles! The views are breathtaking and create the perfect setting to relax and enjoy a tasting. The reds were outstanding -- well balanced, smooth, and incredibly memorable. The food was also phenomenal and packed with flavor complementing the wines perfectly.
We were seated by the hostess upon arrival and Dimitri was our server. We just ordered appetizer so and flights. The advertise was the tomato heirloom Burrata. Nice one tasting experience and a beautiful view.
Spend a day on the hilltop overlooking Paso and you won't be disappointed. The food is outstanding the wine is even better. We had a lovely afternoon with Erik as our server/host. We are wine club members and Calcareous is our favorite winery hands down! The pizza is out of this world. Green chili pozole when it's the soup of the day is unmatched. A perfect afternoon with no need to visit anywhere else. Excellent all around!
Spent a few hours here with my friend between Christmas and New Year's, and decided we would have lunch out. The wine tasting was great, Eric was our server and he was wonderful, with personality and talkative conversation also explaining the wines that we were tasting, even though he was busy! We wanted to have lunch but wanted to split things, so we didn't overeat! We opted for a salad which was called the winter salad and I'm not much of a salad person, but the salad was terrific, it had seasonal winter fruits with arugula, a light vinaigrette, and a few pomegranate seeds really light and just perfect. We had the burger, which... Was divine. Brioche bun, caramelized, onions, red wine bacon jam and an aïoli. That burger came with fries, which we also split, but both agreed they were the best french fries we've ever had. I do not know how they got them so crisp they were delicious. The views are great. Rolling Hills of Paso Robles demand your attention. They have an immense outdoor area, although we sat inside because it was a little chilly. Purchased tres Violet and a Chardonnay - both tasted and were lovely!

Beautiful views of the valley, wine tasting, and a culinary menu to choose from. Because of the latter, it can get crowded quick on the weekends, so make sure to make a reservation. My husband and I each did a tasting, and got the burrata app and the mushroom ravioli to share. They were both delicious. We enjoyed the wine as well but didn't feel inclined to bring a bottle home. Our server was great; attentive even though they were quite booked, and was able to give us a little bit of info on each wine. Looking around, every server seemed to be providing a similar service, with some taking the time to really dive into the wines with you. Overall, we had a lovely time, would recommend, and would come back again. Overall, we had a lovely time.
We had a great time at Calcareous Vineyard for lunch and a wine tasting! They took great care of us and our wine guide Gabe was really informative about the vineyard and their wines. Really great views also while sitting at the outdoor tables with umbrellas for shade. This was some of the best food we've ever had at a winery as well. We really recommend the Parmesan Fries, the Marinated Olives and the Chicken and Jack Melt. This was enough food for two people to split for a filling lunch. Bonus: We were also greeted by an unexpected friend named Gizmo. Gizmo was one of the two dogs on the property walking around and saying hi to everybody.

This was my third visit to this winery. I always enjoy this location due to it's location and view. I always try to get seating right near the edge and just chill and relax and enjoy the scenery. It was fairly early in the morning so did not order anything but the fries to snack on while me and my wife had a flight. All the wines are very good cannot go wrong with any of them. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly, which made the experience better.
The lodge feel is an oasis for enjoying some sun. Wine club members can enjoy discounts on food & wine. Known for one of the best burgers. Certified angus wagyu beef patty, humboldt fog cheese, bacon, caramelized onion, grilled tomato & garlic aioli. Perfectly juicy in all the right places. So good! Definitely recommend. The bottles we chose were the 2022 Tres Violet and the 2021 Lloyd. With a brisk chill in the air sipping in the sun will warm you up and brighten your day. Coming back for more! Worth the trip to enjoy some wine and lunch with amazing views. A quaint winery with indoor or outdoor seating. To take in more of the grand views there's an elevated pathway to more intimate seating areas. The cute mascot dog "Rusty" will probably come over for a visit. For those tempted to feed him just be cautious with human food. Pet friendly only on the patio with a leash.
They have a beautiful view. George was knowledgeable about the wine. It's $40 for 4 wine tastings.

1st time wine tasting- local It was wonderful. Got there at 11am. Not many people were there. Got a table right at the edge over looking ALL of Paso Robles. Families with kids started showing up around 12:30. I have kids- older but I just don't want to hear crying and yelling. Anyway it was great. Our wine server was great. Food was wonderful. Brownie dessert was amazing. read more
Calcareous is one of a kind for us. The view is beautiful, it's peaceful and it should be in your winery list, if you have one. We always love it, the wines are delicious, one of my favorites for sure. Their "Moose" wine as interesting as the name is, is one of my top wines from the ones I've been able to try in Paso. Every time we drive up here, this place is on the list. The last couple of times, we've even had lunch here and loved the food as well. Their customer service is also one of the best! Every person that's helped us has always been great. We truly love everything about this winery! read more

We had the most incredible experience with Nolan as our server. All the wines are individually superb and Noland did a great job explaining each one. We ordered the lamb chops and then the poached pear and Gorgonzola salad. What an impeccable pairing with the Lamb Tres Violets. Best experience in Paso so far! read more

We visited this winery at the end of 2024. It's our first time here and the experience overall is great. It's kind of windy getting up to the winery but the view of course is beautiful! Although it's a bit chilly despite a sunny weather, we chose to sit outside to enjoy the great view. We had to go back inside as the wind picked up and almost blew our umbrella away. The wine flight we tasted was in general good. We didn't like all the wines but liked one red wine very much and bought a bottle. The food was great, better than I anticipated. Everything we ordered was on point especially the burger. It's big, thick and juicy like they really mean business! LOL.....!!!! Definitely would like to come back just for the view next time I'm in the area. read more

5 of us came here for lunch. We were so happy with our decision to come here. First off, our server, Philly was the absolute best. He was so friendly and kept us laughing. We will ask for one of his tables next time we come for lunch. Fabulous menu. Started with a Watermelon-Plum Gazpacho that was incredible. 4 of us had the Black Cod and one had the Grain Bowl. The Cod was perfectly cooked. Served with a small portion of rice and veggies, which was perfect for an afternoon meal. Also paired it all with an incredible bottle of their Chardonnay. $55pp including tip. Beautiful seating whether you are inside or out. All in all this was beyond our expectations. We will definitely come back and highly recommend Calcareous. You won't be disappointed! read more

Absolutely beautiful views from Calcareous! The drive up is not for the faint of heart (I'm scared of heights and it was not fun), but you'll forget all about that once you get there. What can I begin to say about Calcareous other than I wish there were more stars! We had such an amazing experience on our visit. Took our group a few minutes to settle after the winding road trip up to the winery, but that didn't take long. As soon as we were seated, we were immediately provided with an off the flight tasting and provided menus for either lunch or small bites. Our server was so kind and attentive. Our glass was never empty for too long. The views were breathtaking. I could have stayed there all day drinking and enjoying the view. Left with a few bottles and can't wait to visit again. read more

Came for a girls wine weekend and stopped at Calcareous for lunch. The food was very good - their French fries are great and I got the butternut squash ravioli with shrimp which was also very good. The service could have been better. Our server initially said he usually just pours wine and wasn't intending on telling us about the wines. My friend had to explain that we had never been there before and then he agreed to tell us about the wines. It also felt like we had to drink our wine quickly, because at one point he came to pour the next wine and one of my friends hadn't finished her glass. He then asked if we were going to finish her glass so she didn't miss out on the wine he had brought to pour. We laughed but weren't sure if he was being serious so we drank the wine she had left in her glass so she could get the next tasting. Overall, the views were beautiful, the food and wine were good, but the service could have been better. I would go back to try again. read more

I had guests in town we had gone to several vineyards over the past few days, this was a favorite. Calcareous was our first stop in paso, and it couldn't have been more perfect. Philly was our guy and him and the entire staff went above and beyond for our honeymoon. We each did the tasting and would highly recommend. The pours are generous and Phill even gave us a few extra tastes. For lunch we had the pork loin and the butternut squash ravioli. Both were fantastic. The pork was cooked perfectly and the ravioli was decadent and came with a hot baguette to dip in the sauce. For dessert we had the ube Ice cream which was unique and a nice way to end the meal. The views are spectacular and there are paths to walk around and see out over the property. We were able to take our time and take in the views and the stories from Philly. Highly recommend! The staff even wrote us a postcard as a momento. So kind! read more

The food was great. So fresh and the bread was delicious. It was a little gloomy that day so it was nice to have some warm bread to tuck into. Service was great too. Jason Joyce is a highly acclaimed winemaker in Paso Robles, creating the elegant wines at @calcareouswine. His wines, known for their complexity, balance, and aging potential, have garnered numerous awards and accolades from critics and connoisseurs alike. We had a chance to chat a little and he's wise enough to say that everything has its time. Wine is something that you learn to appreciate with age and wisdom. It's okay if young folks are drinking other things. When they get into wine, we'll be here! This winery has a restaurant. I had a delicious and very fresh summer salad with watermelon which I paired with the rosé. Shout out to George for great, courteous service. To Bryce for the insights. I had a great time. This was recommended to us for the view. The view was fantastic and overlooks Paso nearly from the top-down. It was on our way back to downtown, and was only about 15 minutes from that point. We didn't have a reservation and sat down immediately - it wasn't crowded. We had a big group and our server was great. He had so much backstory to the city and different wine history. We shared 4 wines - the best I personally thought was the rose with the second best being the red. The white was a little dryer and not as smooth as I excepted. Calcareous closed at 5 on a Saturday, but they never rushed to make us leave and we ended up sitting for another half hour after closing. Cute, small winery in Paso and if you're looking for a spectacular view, this is it! read more

Best winery visit I've had, awesome views and even better service. Bree took care of us and made us feel right at home. she is super knowledgeable of the wines and history of the farm and even took our picture for us. The burger was amazing highly recommend. read more
My husband and I came here for the first time to celebrate our first anniversary part of a whole day trip. I was looking forward to it because of the views and the good reviews. Also drove over two hours away to come here. We had a reservation at 3 PM however we got there earlier and asked if we could be seated. That is one thing that I didn't like, they had plenty of tables by the edge with a better view and when we asked to sit there, the hostess said no and asked if we were gonna eat as well. I don't know why it matters to see where we will sit because I have to see the menu first! So she refused to seat us at the round table for 5 and instead put us on the side where the tree was blocking the sun and stuff were falling from the tree. Also annoying! we also had a reservation and they would not see us closer to the edge to be able to see the view, which is really why we came to this vineyard in the first place. However they sat us in a table where it fits 8 people, I'm not sure how they don't have a table for two that is round but they have one that is for 8 and it's okay. It was not sunny at our table was in the shade it was cold and windy and stuff falling from the tree inside our wine glasses. And yes, there were some more tables in the sun but they refused, saying this is a different server, so can't be seated at the other tables and they refused stuff from the beginning. How is that our problem. We are also customers and paying the same as everyone else. we gave up and went to a different table that is way far from the edge and you see NOTHING to be able to get some sun and the stuff falling from the tree was worse so we poured our wine into our glasses and just went and sat by the just chairs without the tables. What's worse is that when we came back we saw two people sitting at that table that we requested earlier so somehow they had a "server" for them at that point for them. The Hostess was the one who refused initially and I don't appreciate that. Brie was our server and she was great. The charcuterie board was good. We had the Chardonnay, even though we like Cabernet but Chardonnay here was better. We will not be returning here for this experience read more
