I have heard a lot about this winery since one of my friends is obsessed with their merlot. It is definitely worth the drive out there especially if you are looking to support a small family owned winery. Tasting fee is only $10 but waved with a bottle purchase and the wines are extremely affordable. If its your birthday they do something extra special for you... I know from experience and you can probably guess from my pictures what it is..

One of our favorite wineries here in Paso Robles. Price and wine are both amazing. $10 tasting fee if you do not end up buying any bottles. 12 wines available to taste. The tasting portion is generous and they allow you to revisit any wines. We came here Thursday and had an appt for 1:30pm. It wasn't busy at all. We liked everything except for the first 2 reds: "Cuteness" and "Aglianico." Their most expensive bottle is $38 and cheapest is $20. We loved the Dry Humour muscat, Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah. We bought 3 wine to-go since wine and price were both good. But other wines are also great too. You can taste the wines in door or outdoor. But indoor felt more easier and faster. Noone wears mask anymore, except for us. We heard it was the female owner's bday so they had snacks out but when we got there only a fruit salad was left. Pat and Jennifer were friendly. Pat was definitely the entertainer here. Their membership is only 4 bottles of wine per year. 20% off wine purchase, free tasting for all guests of the member, 15% off cases, free member food, 1 free bottle of of wine for karaoke event. Won't break you bank and your taste buds will thank you. Looks like you can picnic here.

Small boutique winery with amazing owners. Beth was so great and her wines were so good. I loved her collection of puzzles and creative gifts to shop. Will definitely be back next time in visiting from Hawaii!

We had such a great experience at Penman Springs Winery! The wine was so tasty, the vibe was so cozy, and we finished the Christmas puzzle that was set on the table inside. Wonderful way to spend the afternoon!

Enjoyed tasting wines and learning about penman springs. Great rose, cabs and syrahs. Bought the rose, reserve cab which we enjoyed tasting with the cheese and fresh bread. Larry was very friendly and knowledgeable answering our questions about the wines.

Love being members! Wine is delicious, staff is amazing, and bought a bunch for our wedding reception. Amazing as always.

This winery was delightful. The young girl who did our tasting made us feel welcome and relaxed. It felt like I was tasting wine from a family friend. The tasting room is nothing fancy or pretentious but the wines were great and the young lady serving us reminded me of the daughter I never had. We purchased a few bottles, loved the reds.

Wow! All the five star reviews were right--friendly people, gorgeous vineyard, very nice wine. They put out a food spread for Harvest Weekend that put all the other wineries to shame. I wasn't even very hungry when I arrived, but I couldn't stop eating the pulled pork sandwiches, the quiche and wonderful cheeses. I felt like I was back in France, which is one of my favorite places to visit. But it's a lot easier to go to Paso Robles. I will definitely make returning to this wonderful place a priority the next time I drive from L.A. to S.F.

The history alone is enough to get you through the door, but the wine is what keeps you there. Pair the tasting with all the stories behind the winery, and it's easily one of the more interesting experiences in Paso. The staff is also incredibly friendly and makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The patio is a beautiful spot to taste, and if you're there later in the day, the sunset views are hard to beat. Definitely do the free cave tour while you're there. It's one of the coolest winery tours I've been on. The caves are a massive labyrinth carved into the hillside and naturally stay around 55 degrees year round, which is where they age a lot of their wine before bottling. Even if you've been to a lot of wineries, this is something a little different. At the time I'm writing this, tastings are still complimentary, which is almost unheard of these days. If you go, do them a favor and leave with a bottle or two. That's how places like this are able to keep offering experiences like this, and honestly, you'll probably want to take some wine home anyway.

It was pretty hot, so about halfway through the tasting, we sat down at a table in the shade and walked up for the rest of our tastings but by that time, a large group had come through so the server was busier but still managed to remember where we were in the tasting. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and gave great suggestions. When we were done with our tastings, we walked around the property to look at the sculptures and the grounds. And after a drive that reminded me of the beginning of "The Shining" with all of the winding roads, I arrived, sat down overlooking the valley, and told my wine guy flat out what I started this review with. He was slightly taken aback and treated me with a "let's change your mind" attitude. As I waited for my first sample, I couldn't help but notice the view. It was the best view of all of the wineries I've visited and based on the other reviews, I'm not wrong. They used their plot of land well to Wow their guests... I sampled quite a few wines and liked a lot of them. The ones here are apparently different than the DAOU that's in most stores and restaurants. That's a shame actually... I was here in the morning so it was freezing cold out. I'd recommend for a morning tasting, bring a jacket or something (I was there in May). But as the morning neared its end, the sun warmed things up. My wine guy brought some crackers also as I was feeling a bit queasy from guzzling wine so early. Nice touch and prevented the hallways from looking like "The Shining" too. I also enjoyed watching and playing with Cheetoh, the cat who hung around the outside. He was pretty chill and friendly. He followed my wine guy around and let me pet him (the cat, not the wine guy). I'm glad I went and was upfront about why I was there. I think he appreciated it too and he did change my mind about DAOU. I get that it's a business so you gotta sell to the masses, but make some of these others available to us common folk. If I'm ever in Paso Robles again, I'm making sure to make a reservation here and get one of those wood fired pizzas! And maybe they'll take my idea and make a Lizzie Bordeaux! I enjoyed learning about the Austin Hope winery and its origins. I felt like they grew in popularity quickly and threw up some barns to accommodate the crowds. For example, the bathroom wasn't well constructed as when people slammed the door shut, the walls shook. I can't imagine how the walls would shake if someone had a blowout here. Even with some of the downfalls, this was my favorite winery and I wish I could get some of the wines without joining the club. We are the type of members who always take great care of the staff and rarely leave without purchasing extra bottles, yet today we were treated like an inconvenience. Despite being told in the past that spontaneous visits were no problem for members, we were turned away on a gloomy Monday with plenty of open tables. The host at the entrance was incredibly dismissive and wouldn't even let us finish our sentence before cutting us off. We were told our only options were to come back in an hour, a "limited" tasting, drive all the way downtown, or just pick up our shipment and leave. We asked for the Wine Club Manager to resolve the situation, but she wasn't on-site. To be offered a "partial" tasting as a favor after nearly ten years of support was the final straw. It feels as though they now prioritize "closing" new members over honoring the people who have supported them for years. They've gone mainstream and lost the personal touch that made them special.
